Indeed great service, but the problem is the food. The crab cake was fantastic (like everything on their menu, was excessively overpriced), and the fish dish was extremely bland, and without substance. My wife ordered what was ultimately the worst part of the meal experience, the dessert; the chocolate mousse was a dried up brownie, on top of an appealing mound of whipped cream all topped with a hardened "mousse" which had crystallized sugar granules and a stiff texture. What makes Cache Cache special are many of the little things like a warm greeting by the receptionist and staff when you arrive, the wonderful ambiance of the dining room, and attentive service from staff which isn't overbearing or intrusive. When you want or need something a team member is there yet not constant to interrupt your evening. And then there is the food. The glorious menu is full of options. Let's focus on the rotisserie chicken which comes with wilted kale and French fries. The flavors, while simple, work so well together. Simply delicious - and those gorgeous fries are the BEST I've ever eaten. Maybe a day on the slopes makes everything taste better but seriously dear readers these are irresistible. 4.7 The appetizers and pastas were absolutely delicious! This was some of the best Foie Gras I've ever had which pushed this review to 5 stars. The Cacio E Pepe was fresh and you can tell the pastas were home made. It was also cool some of the ingredients for the gnocchi special were housed from an employees local garden/farm. Our chicken dish came out raw and bloody in the center after we cut into it. We had it sent back. They brought the same dish (cut into) back to the table. We then asked for a new dish, not a re cooked one. The hostess explained that there was a red wine sauce added to it and that is why we might have seen "red".. no.. it was raw and bloody inside. I was very underwhelmed by both the food and service at Cache Cache. My partner and I dined here last night (Saturday night) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I don't drink alcohol, and it seemed to annoy our server when we did not order wine for the table. Once our server found I was not drinking booze, we didn't see much of him for the rest of the night. My water was infrequently filled, and my glass was empty multiple times throughout our 2 hour meal. Eventually another server seemed to have replaced him as he stopped coming to our table. We started off with the burrata and tomatoes, and the foie gras. The tomatoes didn't taste like the local/farm fresh tomatoes advertised. The raspberry jam with the foie gras was spectacular - probably the best thing we ate at this restaurant. The foie gras itself was fine - certainly not the best I've had. For our main course, I got the sea bass and my wife ordered the lamb chop. My sea bass was beautifully presented but tasted as if the chef forgot to salt it at any point during the cooking process. It was so bland and under-seasoned that I resorted to adding my own salt and pepper from the table. My wife's lamb chop was cooked perfectly to the medium rare she ordered, but also lacked proper seasoning. The portion size was generous, and I would not be surprised to learn that lamb was almost a full year when butchered because the chops were huge. Everything we ate the entire night was chronically under-seasoned. I rarely resort to using table salt shakers, but it seems like I had a fork in one hand and salt shaker in the other for this meal. The chocolate cake was burned. Not overly toasted - burned. I would be embarrassed to send that out if I were on the line. We all have off days - so it is possible the kitchen had an off day, and our server was having an off day, but our experience was about $400 for 2 people and I think it would have been better spent on a lot of other dining options in Aspen. read more

I have been here numerous of times and never had an experience quite like the one I just encountered. I called to make a reservation and rather than being met by a friendly, willing to help, hostess, I was rudely met by an entitled, "this is Aspen" girl who just answers the phone. Instead of allowing me to talk through what I was looking for, she didn't even give me the chance to finish my sentence before she rudely interrupts with "yeah no I can't help you." And hangs up. Looks like this "establishment" could use a little refreshing and humbling change to who it has representing its front of house. You have lost my business. Wish I could leave zero stars. read more

Not only did she not allow me to talk, she treated me as though nothing I had to say was important. I simply asked for a reservation and she rudely says "nope I can't seat you, and hung up." I've eaten at many high end establishments like PerSe, French laundry, monarch etc etc and have never experienced stuck up service like this before. I had the worst experience in this place last night. I'm not sure why people say this place is good. The Maitre D was so rude and stuck up. I just told them that the Escargot was impossible to get out of the shells .He was so rude and looked me up and down like I was a piece of dirt. Horrible. Don't waste your money. Over priced and snooty! Have you ever heard of a restaurant that doesn't allow a large party to split credit cards? How about $50 for 3 little fish tacos filled with flavored mayonnaise? I admit that the service was good but still not worth the price. Unless, of course, you want to pay $45 for a trout entree. HORRIFIC SERVICE, didn't even get a chance to try it because the hostess was VERY rude. She very nice to everyone else around EXCEPT me. She was speaking incoherently and walked away while while I was asking a question. If they treat guests like this, it makes me question their devotion to making sure guests are happy with the food and is a larger reflection of their entire infrastructure in the back of the house. We had dinner here on a Monday night with two other couples to celebrate an anniversary. I had read the Yelp reviews in advance and it was clear that there was a real love-hate thing going on with reviewers. The haters invariably complained about snooty service. Our experience was delightful. We were warmly greeted by the hostess at our reservation time and shown to our table. Our waiter, David, was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and specials. The sommelier, Sophia, went out of her way to be helpful. We had ordered a bottle of champagne in advance to celebrate the anniversary as a surprise, and they pulled off the surprise seamlessly. The food was wonderful. We split salads (Caesar and Beet) to start, and they were fresh and delicious. I had Osso Buco and it was one of the best versions I've ever had. My wife split the risotto entrée with another in our party, and loved it. The decor is understated elegance inside and out. Even though we ate inside, the flowers and hustle and bustle outside were charming. To be sure, all of this didn't come cheap. But I would say it's comparable to other high end restaurants in Aspen. Bottom line, I've eaten at excellent restaurants all over the world, and this is up their with the best. As for the "haters", we'll, you know what they say: haters gonna hate. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Aspen! The decor is nice, the bar is very happening but sometimes the bar area is too crowded and it's hard to get through... The food is excellent, I've never had bad food here, especially escargot! The best I've ever had in the US! One time one of my escargots didn't have meat inside, and I told the server and he bought the new escargot, I was very happy. Also they have yummy caviar too, that's why the name of the restaurant is Cashe Cashe Bring Cash:) Around the Christmas, theres a big pretty Christmas tree right outside, I think about this place all the time, I can't wait to go back next week again during my another Aspen ski trip! read more

I cannot imagine how this place does not have anything but five stars. It is an institution in Aspen and anyone who is anyone has been here. That doesn't matter though. It's longevity and popularity is most likely because the staff works tirelessly to meet your every need. Our waitress provided perfect service along with her assistant. The restaurant was packed, but we felt like the only ones in the room. Cache Cache is poetic and magical. Most importantly, the food is amazing! I went here for my 60th birthday. My boys flew in from Dc with their gfs to enjoy a long weekend in Co. Service was impeccable. Appetizers delicious. The sommelier brought out a bottle of Jo Landron muscadet. I had ordered another muscadet, but he surprised me with Jo Landron. It was amazing! I ordered the filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly. It melted in your mouth. Everyone's meal was divine. I'm not sure why anyone would give this esteemed restaurant less then five stars. Unrealistic expectations or unable to ever be satisfied is my guess..... Cache Cache is lovely. Patio tables feel like your in the south of France. Insanely well cooked meats. I had the Colorado lamb and was able to nibble on the filet mignon as well, both were juicy and wonderfully tender some of the best tasting protein I've had in a while. The escargot and mussels appetizers also did not disappoint. I went through nearly a loaf of bread soaking up the lobster sauce the mussels came in. I'm not a big dessert person (just say no to sugar!), but we though a little chocolate mousse parfait couldn't hurt... watch out this thing is dangerous! Excuse me, pardon me, excuse me. Squeeze, squish, hello, your food looks good. Nice conversation, hello, squeeze, squish, wiggle. If you sit outside, you'll hear a lot of this. The outdoor courtyard is strategically designed to fit the absolute maximum number of chairs and tables possible for a space of this size. Add in some heat lamps, waitstaff, and people getting in and out...yeah, it's still tight. Despite this fact, this is prime seating and I would trade a little personal bubble zone space for a chance to sit out here and have dinner for a few hours. Note: the ground is bricks, bricks move over time, chairs may or may not (emphasis on may) range from slightly to overtly wiggly. We had a large party and sat smack in the middle of the outdoor space. We all enjoyed our time here, but I was told by the person that made the reservation that there was a $100 per person no-show or late cancellation charge. So if we got held up and couldn't make it...it would have cost $900? I don't know if that is true or not, but I would definitely check on that. The food we all ate was excellent. The glasses of wine were a little pricy - $20+ for what we chose, and we could have gone even more overboard than that. The bread / oil dipping situation was excellent - we got several rounds of that before any food came. Apps - I had a ceasar salad, which was good, but I recommend getting the dressing on the side as it comes on pretty heavy. The most popular thing (for all tables) was likely the escargot, which seemed to come out in droves. A few people are our table had it and loved it. The ordering was a mixture of fish and meat, emphasis on the veal shank. I ordered fish (which was good) but the veal was absolutely delicious. If it is still on the menu when you are here - go for it. Seating inside is much more elegant, but when in Aspen, wiggly or not, why not sit outside? read more

The food is good. Ambience is good. But it's relatively expensive even for bar menu. The place is totally decent and with great care in their food taste and presentation. For what we get, the Rainbow Trout with vegetables and rice, there's too much butter in it which makes it a little too fatty and greasy. And the Jasmine Rice was a little undercooked and too dry. I only give this 2 stars because the location is right in town. Problem is food is sub par. They want to be a fine dining spot but the staff isn't trained at all and menu doesn't fit fine dining.
