Upon entry to the hotel we were wandering around looking for Velvet Buck when Brian (director of engineering) asked us if we needed help. Brian went above and beyond in customer service. He was so accommodating and really made us feel significant. The atmosphere is astonishing and the service didn't let down throughout the hotel. I will say that I seen a struggle with staffing and getting the food/beverages out. Our server said he was the only waiter due to his coworker being out sick. They did try and mobilize other employees to assist him but many we're waiting for drinks and food for a long period of time. The food was good. We had a basic breakfast meal. Everything was cooked just right. Large portions. The lunch that other dinners were having looked amazing. read more

I took the server's recommendation and the cinnamon French toast was amazing - quite possibly the best I've had to date! Wonderfully served with plenty of fruit, syrup, and fresh whipped cream, it was the perfect start to my day in Aspen. As delicious as it was, it paled in comparison to the thoughtful and personalized service I received from the very sweet and attentive Sanjeet who helped me order, made recommendations and accomodations to make sure I was ready for my day of hiking. He even brought me a beautifully branded water for my hike. read more

Made a dinner reservation for this place through open table. Unfortunately we couldn't make the reservation since we were driving in late from Colorado Springs. I called the restaurant once in the early afternoon and another time around 4pm, and also sent them a msg on open table around early afternoon to say that we couldn't make it. Left a message the second time I called. Around 5pm I get a call from a lady at the restaurant who started going off on us that we should have called earlier to tell them we couldn't come and that she already turned people away because of us. I tried to explain to her that I called multiple times and also sent a message, but she would not hear it. Also it's only 5pm and our reservation is at 6, so if there are really people waiting .. plenty of time to give away our table? read more

Some nice hotels in Aspen restrict breakfast only to guests. This is an exception and happened to be the closest meal to the shoebox I was staying in. Another reviewer stated that she thought $30 was fair for this--I agree. However, I remember paying $45. For a few extra jams, cured/smoked meats, and premium cheeses on top of a what-you-would-expect buffet, hard to justify. Service was great. People watching is surprisingly fun. read more

While staying at the St Regis, I had breakfast at this resto a couple of mornings. $30 buffet got me the deelish lox, bacon, chocolate croissants, cheese, cured meats...in a swank spot. Considering most of the breakfast restos around town have menu prices that dwarf Manhattan prices, this $30 buffet seems fair. Fair and delicious. I'll be back. read more

So... so... bad. Avoid!! Honestly one of the worst dining experiences that we have ever had. Took 1.5 hours to get our food, they had to take our order 3 times, and most of the food came out subpar. Almost everything that came out was drowned in salt and not edible. I have never sent food back in my life but my Dad had no choice with his salty salad. Honestly I think the staff is just wildly under trained here. everyone was nice and seemed to try but they just had no idea what they were doing or there was a language barrier. I think it was frustrating for both parties. The manager did try to remedy our issues with some comped desserts and a discount but it didn't matter.... we will not be back. The only thing that was delicious was the $70 truffle flatbread. 2.5 hours to get out of there.... not fun. read more

Wow, this place is so bad the St.Regis should be embarrassed to have this restaurant in their hotel. The restaurant was about half full yet every table was upset about the lack of service and poor food, it felt like mutiny. The quinoa salad was tiny and boring. The chicken salad was a bag of lettuce with a pre cooked, slimy, cold piece of chicken and dressing on the side. The salad was so gross we sent it back and opted for a burger. The cheese wasn't melted, the meat had zero flavor. It was so bad and incredibly expensive. The service was terrible. It took 15 minutes before we were offered water, 45 minutes to get two salads and that was after complaining. They then charged us for the food we sent back. Took another 20 minutes to get our credit cards back with the bill. In all a two hour terrible dining experience. So many great places in Aspen, run far far away from this one. read more

Our food took 45 minutes to come. When it did we got cold chicken noodle soup. They are extremely under staffed. One waitress running the whole show and she was overwhelmed. The hotel looks like it's at full capacity and they have one person working. This is absolutely inexcusable. Soups must have been sitting in the kitchen for at least 10 minutes.. read more

Crazy place. On Saturday night when every other restaurant in Aspen was fully booked, we went to the Velvet Buck for dinner. In a restaurant that probably seats 150 people in one of the busiest towns over the Christmas holiday there was not another sole in the restaurant except perhaps 5 or 6 servers with nothing to do. We ordered wine and drinks which came about 45 mins later. They claimed they could not find the bottle I ordered. We looked a the menu which had almost nothing on it and when we asked about it they said they had another menu. That one was the the bar menu with pizza burgers, etc. They gave us bread, no bread plate. When dinner came they largely got it all wrong. Served the pasta with chicken no chicken. Brought out a plain chicken breast on the side when we asked what happened to the chicken. Delivered the well done burger to the medium rare one. Now, keep in mind there was literally no one else in the gigantic St Regis hotel dining room in Aspen on the busiest weekend night of the year. Totally one of the most bizarre diners out that I have ever had. The Aspen St Regis has some very serious issues. read more

This restaurant is bad. I think it is designed exclusively to make platinum members feel like they receive their benefit (free breakfast promised by Marriott) but they don't make much of an effort. I used my platinum breakfast credit on my first day here but didn't bother afterwards. The $20 omelette is a weird textured folded egg taco thing that I can only assume is premade/frozen. Avacado toast was pretty weak too. I would expect this from an airport terminal restaurant but not a St. Regis. Somehow,the $52 credit didn't cover two meals + two coffees. read more

I expected more mountain food with the name, but was excited to find a very cool Spanish style tapas menu. The wine list had a lot of options by the glass, and their somm, Patrick was really sweet. Bread was served 50 minutes after we sat, which was not a good sign. Food took about 75 minutes, and one of the meals came 20 minutes after the rest. Our waiter paid very little attention to us. I will say, the chicken dish was amazing - we all loved it. If only the service were better. When we spoke with the manager, he was very kind and took care of a few of the meals on the bill. This place is a hidden gem in Aspen. Their breakfast menu (not the buffet) has some of the best breakfast dishes you could ask for before getting out in the cold and start your day on the ski slopes. The BLT with huge fluffy bread with juicy bacon, runny eggs and sauce that ties it all together with the fresh crisp bite of the lettuce is the perfect bite. Also comes with these potato hash balls that are super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I've tried the açaí bowl, granola and other side dishes. You can tell that the chef puts a lot of work into what could be a very simple breakfast item. Their fresh squeezed juices (grapefruit and orange) woke me up in the morning with all the vitamins and was ready to hit the fresh powders that day. Can't get any better. I also did try the lunch, and I was surprisingly blown away. It's impossible not to love their burger that's so juicy and delicious. Make sure you get the truffle fries. Potato leek soup with truffle was very hearty, perfect for after a long morning of skiing. Their wine selection is superb and in my opinion, really the best value in a town like aspen. I want to thank Marisol and Marty for their hospitality and providing an amazing experience throughout our stay that we will never forget. read more

The St Regis burger was fantastic. I had it lettuce wrapped and had a side salad as well. For breakfast I would recommend the Avocado Toast. I did try an omelette but it was fully cooked before they folded it in half, not my favorite way of making an omelette. Do try the orange juice or detox juice. read more

This was the worst food I've eaten in many years, which is a shame because the setting is very nice and the service was excellent. The food inedible. Salmon in a crudo appetizer was not fresh, and the sauce was bland. The bread served at the start was stale, a beet salad was a giant glob of flavorless white cheesy paste with a thumbnail of beet. The worst of all was the trout entree, which was served in a super rich cream sauce that completely overwhelmed the poor trout.. and winter greens with nothing on them at all. Yuck. I am amazed that this restaurant is still in business. The food is subpar (i ordered the $60 filet and it first came out way undercooked and on the second try it was way overcooked and it was tasteless to boot.) The service is either overly intrusive or totally inattentive. I should have realized when there were only 3 other tables at 7pm that this would not be a good experience. The St. Regis needs to up its game. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

Yum is the word! We had such a delightful meal over the holidays at the Velvet Buck, I must say every part of it was truly outstanding ... They were busy, and we were 6 adults, a family meal, and for starters, the food was perfect .... everything was creative, the service was terrific! Our primary waiter "Sergio" could not have been more delightful or accommodating and professional, and simply fun! Our Sommelier, I'm sorry I forgot his name, recommended 2 wines for us, and they were both delicious, one their least expensive Malbec, and another from the Prisoner line, both wonderful (thanks for being delicious and frugal)! We ate a LOT of food, but the two highlights we all agreed upon were the Mishima Rib Eye, oh my and worth the $$$$$! *Filet was good, but the Ribeye off the charts ... then to end, we were festive and had the home made at the table smores! My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary at the St. Regis in Aspen and decided to dine at the Velvet Buck. What a great decision that turned out to be! The overall experience was fantastic. We started dinner with the fava bean and truffle oil, mint pea soup which was delicious. For the main course, my wife had the Mishama NY strip and I had the Bison Tenderloin (w/ Red Wine Demi). Both were cooked to perfection! We shared the sauteed local mushrooms, roasted vegetables, glazed asparagus and the demi (which was wonderful). Aside from the food and the atmosphere, which were outstanding, Jonathan our server was excellent and helped us to pair the perfect bottle of wine with our dinner. In addition, each course was timed perfectly. Finally, a BIG thank you to Executive Chef Laurent Pillard for preparing a special desert for us! it was also a nice touch that you took the time to come to our table after dinner and introduce yourself! It was a pleasure meeting you and we thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary dinner!!! We will definitely be back for the winter menu; which sounded delicious.
