We paid for a hotel room to be able to make the early morning flight, to be able to make the "mandatory orientation" in Salmon the night before the retreat. We paid for an additional "package" to cover all flights and hotels from Boise to Boise. After sitting in the Jet Port for 3 hours we were able to find out that the orientation is not mandatory for us. After reviewing all materials, it is clear there is conflicting information and lack of ability to talk to anyone in a timely manner. Can't comment on the actual rafting trip.

I joined this studio (mostly for Pilates) last week and have been to at least one class daily since…read morethen. The classes with Pilates reformer machines are $30, so if I go more than twice per week, I'm better off paying the $240/month membership fee. They have punch cards for other classes (15 for $225). Each instructor so far has been helpful. They know how to push our limits without causing pain. Two have given me their business cards for personal sessions or to get questions answered. Nice. Melissa and Kevin at the front desk are friendly. The women's bathroom has two toilets and two showers. Looks like their childcare center is fantastic. Parking usually isn't a problem. The main reason I waited so long to join was because I wanted afternoon classes--not morning or night--but I've been able to find enough classes for my schedule. After I downloaded their app and the MINDBODY app, I've been able to schedule and pay for classes online. Even at midnight. I needed to reschedule a class that had extra payment, so hopefully I won't get charged twice. I've been happy with this studio so far. It's ridiculously close to my home. I thinks it's ironic that it's next to a good hamburger/ice cream diner where my youngest daughter worked for several years. I wonder how many people work out then eat back all the calories they just burned. Ha. Or the other way around--people feel guilty for eating so much then they go to a fitness class. The other members seem to be from all different fitness levels, so it isn't awkward for this newbie who was out of shape.

It is because of PW that I realized doing endless amounts of cardio and marathon running wasn't doing my body good. I started doing more weight lifting and HIIT with Pure and my body was freaking changing in ways it never had before! I had suffered from years and years of eating disorders, and PW honestly helped me have a healthier body image and relationship with my body. A class there is like the best therapy, because you are surrounded by people who are your family. They come from all different walks of life, different levels of fitness, and so much love and support. The owners are so invested in everyone who attends, and are always so welcoming. Back in 2014-2015 I trained for an NPC competition. Had I never gone to PW and been surrounded by so much encouragement, I would have never had the guts to step on stage. Judah helped train me and I had NEVER been in such amazing shape before. Not only that, but he and his wife Kira drove all the way to Colorado to support me and cheer me on in my first competition. Who does that?? The dedication and genuine care they have for everyone is beyond what you will find at any gym! I sadly haven't been able to attend PW much since moving and having a baby, but many of my dear friends are people I met through Pure. I still stay in touch with the owners and I still tell them all the time how much I miss going there. I was able to do an online fitness program through Kira which was amazing to help me work on losing that stubborn baby weight and stay motivated as a new mom, wife, and working woman. The tools I've learned through the years from Kira and Judah are invaluable, and I will always recommend this gym to anyone and everyone I come in contact with!

The owners are always kind and show me proper form if they notice I'm not doing something correctly. It really is like family here! Every day I go workout, there are always fellow gym goers and the instructors greeting me, and happy to show me how to do the different types of workouts we cycle through. Every day is different! I myself started with a Groupon and never felt like I was treated badly. I'm here to stay! If anyone out there is interested in pushing themselves to the next level, I would highly recommend Pure Workout! Is it easy starting off? Hell no! I could barely do 5 pushups when I started and I'm up to 40 before I get really tired. I was totally out of shape, but persistence really paid off. Kudos to this amazing gym and the owners! My friend, Shirley, invited me to both (she was an instructor here at one point), but still attends as a student. After showing some of our friends a clip of her performance, we came for our first drop in class. I haven't gotten to do aerial arts in a long time, so I was excited to go! I was surprised my husband wanted to go as well! The studio is located in a warehouse type strip of businesses in the Sandy/Midvale area on the west side of I-15. The space is very spacious and used for performances/events as well (seating tends to be tight during the events, but still so fun to attend). Signing up for classes is pretty simple, and can be done on the MindBody app/website. Classes are pretty affordable compared to other aerial studios (and gyms in general that offer drop in classes). We ended up doing a first time drop in for the Hammocks 1 class. It did take place alongside a Pole and Silks classes. Our instructor, Kortnie (who was subbing) was great! She was so patient with all of us, explained the combos thoroughly, and came around to make sure we were getting everything. We all had a lot of fun. My husband really enjoyed the challenge an wants to come back to try more classes (as do I, as I miss doing aerial classes - it had been quite a few years for me). I also wanted to mention how much I appreciated that the events Onyx puts on also helps to raise money for scholarships for those who have trouble paying their tuition/student fees and/or to future students who could use these arts. I was hesitant at first because it's all so new and…read morepole dancing/fitness is so hyper-sexualized, it can be uncomfortable but this place does everything right. Nothing is outside your comfort zone (emotionally speaking), the instructors and fellow classmates are great, the atmosphere is encouraging and not judgmental. Physically, it will be fairly challenging but nothing too scary - even in an entry level class, you will have people with all levels of beginner ability but you don't feel ashamed when you can barely get yourself up off the floor while holding the pole. I definitely didn't get the "huffing and puffing unathletic kid in the gym class" feeling like I have in some other workout classes (spin, I'm looking at you). Be prepared to be sore in the days after your first class. No joke, I walked out of my first class, thrilled with how much I enjoyed it, but a little bummed that I didn't sweat and get a good workout. The day after, I became intimately aware of muscles I didn't know I had since they were all screaming at me every time I moved. I sneezed and it felt like my abdomen was ripping in half. So, if you are like me and hate working out, do a pole class. You will have so much fun, you won't notice just how hard you're working your ass off until you get home. Another thing - ignore the review complaining about how this gym should have been okay with a student being 10 min late. It clearly says in their policies that this is not okay. It's also a 60 min class. Missing ten minutes is kind of a lot and the lessons teach you moves in order. You also need to be warmed up so you don't injure yourself. Being late is not respectful or safe, so please be on time (or don't get mad when there are some consequences to being tardy). Lastly, this place is difficult to find. Remember it's unit 114. There is no sign and the building it's in is a business complex so it feels like you are in the wrong place. Just look for "114" and you will be all set.

Of the classes I took, Pedro and Joel were the instructors and you can immediately tell they both have extensive experience. Their instruction, approach, knowledge, and interaction are all reasons for anyone to come in and experience this gym. If you are looking for a place to train permanently or if you are just in town and want to get good quality work in, you can't go wrong at Sierra MMA.
