From the outside this restaurant appears like just a local bar, it is anything but.....I had the Marie chicken it was wonderful! My husband had the chicken and spinach ravioli he said it was very good! Even the fresh baked rolls were very good! They have fresh brewed ice tea which is always A+ in my book. Ate there last night with friends. The place. Was quiet, no live music, so it was pleasant. We had the ribs and we agreed that they were quite good if a little on the sweet side. Seems more like a bar and entertainment place then an eatery. Waitress was OK. We had six of us in an empty restaurant yet she didn't come back and ask us if we wanted more drinks. Lately, my wife and I find ourselves coming back here after considering the many alternates. The food is very good; there are always specials, so that the menu doesn't get stale with repeated visits. The portions are generous, nicely presented. The drinks are well-made (strong but not too strong). The weekend entertainment is a nice bonus, too. The staff is friendly but not overly chatty. To quote my wife: we have never had a bad meal here. It's a little far from Doylestown, but there in no traffic at all. The laid-back atmosphere is perfect for us, we always feel comfortable. Keep up the great work, Cactus Grill! I read through the reviews here and some of the complaints about service seem exaggerated (some people are almost impossible to please and hyper-critical). The complaints about the food, in my experience, are unfounded. I guess any establishment can have a bad day (main chef out sick/vacation, etc.) but we have never been disappointed. Definitely check out the specials; there are at least four boards around the restaurant listing them, but even so you may have to get up and go to one to be able to read them (one is right at the entrance). One final comment, although some have noted that this is not a "fancy" place, it is always CLEAN!! To me, that is a really critical issue. read more

The decor I would say bordered on homey and bar/dive-like, but clean. Although the waiter was not personable, he was attentive, on a Saturday around 6pm it was not crowded in the small room. I liked that they have a short but diverse menu. I had the Wedge Salad and BBQ Ribs, which tasted fresh and delicious. My husband had the Talapia stuffed with Crab, it was also fresh tasting with chunks of crab. The included vegetable sides where prepared well too. The margarita was good. So, here's the thing - this location has everything one would want: Scenic views, and open air for outdoor dining. Service was fine, no complaints. Ordered the chicken w/spinach, sundried tomatoes and mozzarella. Chicken was overcooked but the flavors were good. My fiancee ordered a pasta/pesto dish which was quite delicious. The reason for the low stars - the place was dirty. Umbrella stands filled with sitting water (which had dead mosquitos and other nasty things floating in it). Massive cobwebs hanging from ceilings, fans and within inches of our food and drinks. Our waiter who placed the billfold down the back of his pants, proceeded to clean a table, and then hand the billfold to us. (It made the people next to us smile but, really!?) A fellow diner returned their beer as it had gnats in it (more than one....). Such a shame as there's clear potential with obvious quick fixes. School is out, hire some high school kids to come in and give it a total clean sweep, top to bottom. Slap on fresh coat of pain, brighten up the inside and narrow the gap on the floor boards on the deck (you're looking at a potential lawsuit if someone's high heel goes between those slats and they twist and ankle...) Maybe we will try again but no immediate rush. read more

Not going back in the near future. We used to go about once a week. The food is marginal, chicken is like rubber, perhaps they used a microwave to reheat. I medium, 3 medium rare. All 3 MR's we're completely different and not good. No flavor. Crab bisque should be just that. Not tomato bisque with crab flavoring. Service was awful. Had to retrieve our own drinks from the bar the first time. Second time we had one beer come to our table with a spider crawling on the glass. Waiter would leave hot food sit on trays and take customers payment. My husband is also a chef, myself in the service industry for 20+ years. Hot food first! The worst service and food ever. The food was great, the service was not bad but your at a place called the Cactus Grill not the Lowes hotel so for me that's alright. My only complaint is that after I ordered my food, I saw a board that said "Specials" and they looked pretty good. How do you expect me to order something that's not on the menu if you don't tell me about it? I went here for dinner tonight with my family and it was pretty terrible. I suppose I should take some responsibility for going to a place that looks like the Double Deuce from Roadhouse, ordering the stuffed flounder with crab meat and spinach, and then being disappointed that it wasn't up to par. The only review I read (which gave this place 4 stars) stated that this place has great ribs. It very well might. It might have great burgers. It might not. However, all 4 of my family members were pretty disappointed with what we ordered and felt that the trendy looking menu, featuring dishes with names like "Crispy Chicken with Artichoke Pesto and Goat Cheese", totally misrepresented the obviously prepackaged and poorly prepared dishes that actually showed up at our table. I have been to the Cactus grill many times, I just want to share this hidden gem. If you like great food, good service, a clean restaurant this is one place you need to check out. There is a nice selection on the menu, the food is consistanly delicious. If you come on the weekend get ready for great entertainment at night, great people and a wonderful meal. The Cactus Grill has wonderful views of the meadow and sloping mountain side, it is quaint and relaxing, great deck outside and huge windows 360degrees. The bbq ribs here are great! The crabs cakes are great just as good as in Maryland and the is seafood great. Oh yeah the homemade pot pies here are better then grandma's. Prices are good. Great smiling staff. I absolutely LOVE the Cactus. Been a regular since we moved up here over 6 years ago. Their food is delicious - for lunch try the wings, a special or an amazing burger; dinner try one of their specials or their ribs or chicken. Soup is always amazing, too. Hopefully you'll be lucky to get Scott as your server when you're there, but everyone else has always been top notch - except once, and I haven't seen her since. Entertainment on weekends and the place is hopping. Alex is a phenomenal bartender; So ... an absolute favorite of ours - highly recommend! read more
