There was no fat to speak of and the sauce was flat and salty. I actually called to ask about it. The person didn't know what happened and didn't offer to find out. Don't go here expecting fancy. It's a bar with bar food. Dusty animal heads on the walls and old time pictures in this old building right in town. We sat up stairs and our chairs vibrated from the music loudly playing from the bar downstairs. But you will get decent food. The ribs and onion rings were awesome. Beer battered fried pickles and the dipping sauce were good too. I wouldn't go back here for brisket, it was shredded and dry. Side of Mac and cheese was underwhelming and the pasta used was too big in my opinion for a Mac and cheese. Buffalo chicken salad was nothing special - rotisserie chicken with not much seasoning to it but their homemade blue cheese dressing is phenominal. While the wings were good the service and the ambiance were terrible, had to ask for silverware. There flys and bees flying all over the food. When we told the waiter he said not to worry they are honey bees and don't string. How about the germs and other bad things from the flys and bees landing on the food. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my recent experience at Mesquito Grill. My daughter and I decided to get takeout and unfortunately, it was a disappointing ordeal. Upon entering the restaurant, there was no one to greet us, and it took about five minutes before someone came to assist with our order. After placing the order, I was told it would take about 25 minutes, so we decided to walk around the art festival. When we returned, 30 minutes later our order wasn't ready. Which was okay but the woman at the desk seemed busy and indifferent, offering no help or specific updates. After waiting another 10 minutes, she went to the back and casually mentioned it would take another 5-10 minutes. We sat and waited. An hour and 15 minutes had passed since we initially had placed our order, so I asked the man who took our order if it was ready. He went to the back and informed us there was a mix-up with our ticket and it was "coming right if up". Clearly the order was only just being started. We waited another 15 minutes before finally receiving our food, with no consolation for the delay. Note that it was just two pulled pork sandwiches and fries nothing that would warrant taking the time it did. To add to the frustration, when we got back to sit down and eat, I found that one of the pulled pork sandwiches had no barbecue sauce and even contained a piece of foil inside the meat. The food was decent, but the poor customer service and careless preparation left a bad taste in my mouth--literally and figuratively. I understand that mistakes happen and orders get lost, but the lack of care and communication was unacceptable. Sadly, I won't be returning. read more

I have been "going" here for takeout during COVID. The wings here are very good. They have a lot of meat on them. I get 5 of the red hot wings and 5 of the garlic Parmesan. The red hot ones are the hottest that this place has and they are not for the faint of heart. If you can taste past the heat, they have that nice sweetness that I like in hot wings. You really need the blue cheese that goes with these. As far as the garlic parm ones, they have plenty of garlic and come really sauced up. The service is good as well. We always go and pick these up. The wait is not bad at all, and everyone is really friendly. The only slight complaint that I have is that the servers sometimes are not wearing masks which really is not considerate to the guests. They should all be wearing masks to protect the guests. When we walked in the two employees went back and forth for 2 mins about sitting us downstairs or upstairs. Food took forever and my wings came out cold no steam or heat coming off of them. Dishes were so dirty we needed hot water to clean the utensils. Employees were not friendly. Glass was dirty asked for a new one and brought us one even dirtier. My party of 7 were the only ones sitting in the entire restaurant at 5pm on a Sunday. Never again wouldn't recommend. I've ordered here a couple of times through DoorDash in the past six months. They aren't the best ribs in town but they have two things going for them: 1) The still use full sized pork spareribs, can't stand so many people using the St. Louis cut 2) The have a sauce forward rib that doesn't punch you in the face with a hint of smoke or flame. These don't taste like all day in the smoker ribs, but I do not know much about their equipment. I have other places for that. They are not always available on DoorDash, so I was surprised recently when they were. The ribs are packed in a foil container perfect for storing leftovers overnight without transferring them. They remind me of how my own grilled ribs would turn out, not smoked, but grilled. And the ribs are large. I love that! read more

I have been frequenting this spot for longer then I can remember and I love it. The place has basically remained unchanged since opening and it is pretty much a tavern. The wings are just always superb, many sauces to choose from but my favorite is the garlic Parmesan. It is really different and not just overwhelming with garlic. Their hot sauces are all really good and you are certain to find a flavor that suits you. Today we had a great chicken sandwich, salad and of course garlic Parmesan wings, super awesome. The blue cheese is homemade and very good, they also give you a nice amount of celery & carrots with the wings. Mesquito Grille is a pub and restaurant located where three streets intersect. There's two bars and seating on the first floor. Dining areas are available on the second floor and there's an outside balcony too. They offer a variety of wing styles (honey, barbeque, buffalo) and levels of piquantness (mild, hot, very hot, suicide). The chicken is tender and of high-quality. The suicide wings are NOT to be trifled with! I was in tears after a few bites (and I can handle my hot food!) - it's very difficult to eat but worth the experience since they're also tasty. Get a small order of suicide wings to sample. This place has the spiciest, tastiest buffalo wings in the entire state. Period. Go there now just for the wings. Anyone can make wings hot (just soak 'em in wasabi for two hours...) but to make them both spicy and palatable? That's a feat. They offer a few pasta dishes (can't go wrong with a penne with a light sauce and capers), the odd soup, a nice assortment of "standard" appetizers, and an excellent gumbo. Their nachos are excellent. New Orleans gumbo is tangy, didn't really taste this much. Ribs are excellent, meat comes right off the bone! Came back to Mesquito Grille on the anniversary of our moving to Yardley. A year ago we enjoyed our first meal at Mesquito and loved it. Yes, it is bar food. But not your typical bar food. Bar food with thought about flavor and presentation. Plus, and critical, a crazy large beer menu with so many of my Belgium and German favs. This time my wife and I shared a 10 wing order split into two orders of 5 each so we could experience both the dry rub and Jamaican jerk flavors..... loved the Jamaican Jerk flavor. I ordered the ribs with Hickory sauce (plus extra sauce), meat melting off the bone. No fat, all great taste, no burned edges either. No food stuck between the teeth. A true test of great ribs. Complemented this tasty meal with not one, but two cold perfectly poured drafts of Konig Ludwig Weissbier (german) beer. A stable in our home. Brian the server rocked it out by exceeding my wife's expectations relating to her wine selection and request that a new bottle be opened. He delivered in style. A shout out to Mark (who starts teaching again soon), he was our first server who gave us rock star service. The service can be hit or miss, but the wings are amazing and you really can't beat their beer selection, both on draft and bottled. The atmosphere is nice although it can get pretty loud inside. There are two bars downstairs that are usually rather busy and a dining area upstairs that is a little tight. Ive been to NATS PIZZA which is right next to it and never noticed this place. But I am so glad that I can. We had the regular wings first and they were juicy and crunchy. My boyfriend had the ribs and fries. The ribs fell off the bone. I had the Miller burger!! Omg so delicious!! There was a fried egg on it and it was oozing out when I cut the burger. The fries are different t but good different they have a lot of seasoning. I am def coming back here. We had a horrible experience here. Its a shame, the food was actually decent. The service was absolutely horrible. I asked for beer options...the waiter didnt know what they had. Then it took 25 minutes to get our drinks and an additional 10 minutes to order out food. We ordered apps, they came out. Server never asked if we wanted more drinks. Dinner came, still no server to ask for more drinks. To top it all off...my son was sitting under what looks like an AC duct and had condensation dripping on him and then on his food when it was brought out. Bought one of their new Family meals for take out. Our choices were brisket, chicken, ribs, and flank steak along with cole slaw and garlic mashed for sides. All of the food was great. Brisket was presented different than expected, more of a shaved beef versus traditional slices or cubes. That being said, it was very tasty and easy to share. Chicken was a beautiful mohogany, juicy and flavorful. Ribs were cooked perfectly, unlike was most think, you do want a bite, if its falling off the bone its overcooked, these were just right. Not a ton of flavor in the ribs but that more speaks to the meat itself than the smoking, though more rub flavoring and smoke would be beneficial. Admittedly the flank steak was not my choice, but it was a welcome choice after tasting. Normally a cheap filler meat, this was tender, flavorful, and properly sliced to make it very edible. Beyond a great value, the presentation was stunning for take out, someone spent real time making it look good. Ive attached a pic, to show how much food $50 bought and how wonderful it looked even after travelling home. Not a fan of any coleslaw but my wife spoke highly of it.
