The looks are kind of like an old movie set... 1970s coffee shop in the southwest. The menu is pretty dated too however the execution is really good. This young lady, Skyler, was an inspiration to me today. I was dining in and she all of a sudden smiled at me, and it truly touched my heart. I arrived towards the end of breakfast hours, opted to delay my order so I could get a French Dip Sandwich (prime rib) with horseradish, fries and Ranch dressing for the fries. Excellent customer service! Seated immediately and brought water. Waitress immediately checked in with me. Took my order, said she'd delay submitting it if that was ok and of course it was. Quick service, excellent sandwich with delicious sliced prime rib, au juice, creamy horse radish and fries with ranch dressing. I love this place. I've been eating at Sharkey's Casino since the late 1970's; it never disappoints. The sandwich and fries were reasonably priced, $13.91 including tax. Since many of the reviews for the restaurant are posted here under the casino listing, I'll post mine here too! If you search for Sharky's this is the listing you'll get. You have to know the actual name of the restaurant to get that listing. I got invited to have lunch here at Sharky's Casino restaurant, The Jackpot Cafe, by some local friends. I'm staying up at Tahoe out of the heat, but made the trip down to Gardnerville with my friend I'm staying with. I would have never thought to stop in here at Sharky's as it kinds looks old, like a place from the past. It does have a colorful history, but it's under new ownership and I hear the food is wonderful. It's the same owners as the Carson Valley Inn, Katie's, Bodine's in Carson as well as Slot World. The menus are similar at all these places but there are small differences in offerings and prices. All the menus are posted online. There's road construction causing traffic back ups, but it's not super bad, or you can approach from the Centerville Lane side like we did. Lots of parking. Inside, OMG, there are some of the friendliest people I've met! Must have been 3-4 people said HI to us! It wasn't alike they all worked here either. We were a party of 4 and got a nice table. Our server was super friendly and took our drink orders. I decided to go for this Caramelized Salmon Salad, I've not seen this salad before anywhere. It's ($13.99) served with a 6 oz piece of salmon fillet, on a bed of mixed greens including bleu cheese crumbles, green apples, Mandarin oranges all with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. OMG! Was this the best dang salad I ever had in my life! Yes, it's that good. The big slab of salmon was cooked perfect, not all dried out, but moist and melty in my mouth. The unique dressing was divine, I never had anything like that before. Get this salad! I can't get over that big slab of salmon! See the pics! My friend had a Patty Melt ($11.99). Check this out, ALL the burger patties here are BIG HALF POUNDERS! The patty melt at the other places, like Bodine's are just lb and don't even cover the whole piece of rye bread on the patty melt. This patty melt was nice thick piece of meat all the way to the edge of the bread. Loaded with grilled onions and cheese, the bread was grilled nice and crispy. Dang good Patty melt , I took a bite, one of the best I've had in a long time! Our local friends had the Meat Loaf special ($8.99) and the Ruben sandwich. The meat loaf was probably the least exciting, but still a decent meatloaf. The Ruben was stuffed thick with pastrami and sauerkraut. I had a taste of that too .... good but the Patty Melt was better for the same price. ($11.99). I come back here for sure if I was in the area again. read more

A friend took me here for lunch. The food was inexpensive and there was plenty of it but the chicken was overcooked and kind of tough and the pasta and sauce was not tasty. It's fine if you just want a lot of food at a cheap price. read more

Traditional establishment in the heart of Gardenerville. A nice little casino with newer and older machines. The restaurant is nice with plenty of tables and a full menu. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Try it sometime. read more

I started coming here to Sharky's cause of the food. The road construction is done now, so it's easier to get here without taking the back roads. The food here is actually better here than the sister casinos at CVI and Bodines owned by the same company. This time I tried the whitefish dinner entree ($13.99) served with veggies and mashed potatoes. My friend had the Pasta Portofino ($14.99). House wine is just $3.00 bucks a glass, can't best that! Service was decent, not the best, but OK. Food was excellent. The whitefish was so tender, it just melts in your mouth and the Portofino pasta with generous portion of shrimp was excellent with subtle flavors that melded together perfectly. They both came with soup or salad. I'd come back here now more often, now that the road is fixed and parking is way easy. read more

We love this little place. Super super cheap drinks (one old fashioned with Maker's Mark and one beer). Cost? $10!!! Unbelievable. Makes me want to sell my house and move to Gardnerville! This review is for the restaurant and the waitress. We came in for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was super friendly and our waitress was awesome. We both ordered one of their burgers, lettuce wrapped with a side salad, and they were nicely done and we appreciated her bringing the side salad before the burger instead of all at once which most places do. The menu had something for everyone. I didn't realize the restaurant was even in there, I'd been in once before to gamble and. Ever noticed it. I would have gambled a bit today too but the smoke smell was pretty intense. Luckily we were seated in the back of the restaurant and it wasn't really noticeable back there. read more

One day I decided to be brave and order a salmon salad from a casino in Gardnerville, NV and I keep coming back for it! I literally cannot stop talking about it. Great little spot in the middle of Gardnerville. Drinks are very affordable and a close walk to other great little spots to eat and drink .

Had dinner tonight at the Jackpot Cafe which we eat at a couple times a month and tonight I'm not even sure where to begin but the night started with the very young hostess who wanted to argue with us about not wanting to sit at the table at the restaurant entrance which it seems like they try every time we go there but first time they said it's what we have and that they were just trying to get people seated I told her we would be fine with waiting for a table in the larger dining room but she was set on not giving us a table anywhere else. She said she would get a table ready but it would be about 15-minutes which I said would be fine then another couple came in behind us while we were waiting and another hostess walked greeted them and took them right to a table? Forgot to mention there was no waiting list at all at the time. When this hostess came back from sitting them I asked her if they were working on a table for us and she looked out in the dining room and said come right this way? Why was there tables available with this hostess and not with the young dark haired girl who was so rude? Ordering dinner took forever and getting our drinks only took about 15 to 20 minutes? I could have and should have just walked out to the bar and got them myself. Dinner took about 35-45 minutes to come out and my wife had fish and chips which was very good and also very hot on the other hand my 16-oz prime rib dinner came out barely even warm and the prime rib looked more like about 12-oz at best, baked potato was nearly cold and we had already been there about an hour so sending back would have made the night even worse. I could go on about additional things but bottom line I'm not sure what was going on this Saturday night but it was definitely missed up for some reason and they had plenty of staff if they had been organized and managed correctly they were all scrambling around like they didn't know how to handle a nearly full dining room but as mentioned there were plenty of staff there so last words I'll say are the Prime rib has been great in the past but was terrible tonight and they really need to replace the manager and the hostess needs to go away and with her personality I can't even think of any kind of job she would be able to do. read more

When in the area Sharkey's has been a stop over the years for a bite to eat. We were seat quickly, took our order in a timely matter. The wait for the food to come to our table was beyond reasonable, customers left because they did not get their food. Granted they were busy and the staff seemed unorganized. They should have not seated everyone and should have told the customers it would be a 15 - 30 minute wait to be seated. This would have given the cooks time to get caught up. You could see the stress on the staff. Food was ok, never got any refills on the drinks. read more

the other night there were people inside after having been closed for several months during a remodel. Who am I to drive by and not go in to look around? It turns out that it was a 'chamber' mixer, and they had platters of cheese and fruit scattered about the place, and a carving station. Being the interloper that I was, I tried to stay clear of the activity. Quick first impressions: The bar has been relocated to the middle of the room, and it looked very nice. They have dedicated a lot of space to old historical slot machines, and I love this kind of decor. I did not see a table game, maybe it's early, or maybe they won't have them. The room did not smell of cigarettes, as it used to. Again, I was in and out very quickly, and so I can't review the restaurant at all. The good news, Sharkey's has reopened, and I look forward to a more thorough investigation after they've had a chance to work the kinks out. My first little trip through though has made me very optimistic. read more

Stopped in yesterday morning after an appointment. Hadn't been there for many years. The entire casino/restaurant has been remodeled. Looked really nice. Went into the restaurant for some breakfast. Hostess said the wait was about 10 minutes. She was accurate. We were seated. Sat in the booth for what seemed like 15 minutes and had three servers walk past us without so much as a hello..no offers of coffee...we left and won't be back. read more

Stopped by for breakfast as meeting up with a couple of friends. Chicken fried steak, eggs, biscuit absolutely huge portion and delicious. Summer our waitress was on point especially with coffee refills. I couldn't finish all of that food. On the way out of the restaurant we stopped for some video poker at the bar...LOL...We didn't leave until 3+ hours later! Great bartender and cocktail waitress. My two friends each won close to a thousand each while I dropped about forty. Pretty darn good for half a day entertainment, free drinks and the awesome breakfast. Cya's next time while in town. We visited Sharkeys cafe on a Saturday night per a recommendation that the prime rib dinner was worth the trip. Major error on my part! We were seated and waited almost 15 minutes for a server to arrive. She was busy engaged in a personal conversation with other staff and ignored us completely. When she did arrive she was rude and unfriendly. That was the "best" part of the experience. We ordered a prime rib to split and looked forward to a good meal. Not only did she get the wrong salad dressing but the sides as well. The prime rib was literally as tough a shoe leather and was not edible. I took one bite, as did my wife, and we consumed the salad and a dry potato. We will never return! read more
