I liked it much better when it was Ambassador. My dog was prescribed Gabapentin for pain due to arthritis in her hips and back legs. I was giving her 200 mg and then told by the Dr to give her 300 mg. This was overdosing my dog which caused severe diarrhea. I think they did this so that I would come back so that they could charge me for another $72 office visit plus anything else that the Dr's could come up with. I will be going to a different vet clinic. Think twice before you take your dog or cat to Cactus Pet Hospital. read more

If you like throwing away time and money this is the perfect place for you When requesting an appointment, I was told over the phone to "just come on in!!" when arriving, I was told there was a $200 walk-in fee. Obviously I set up an appointment at a later time and when going there a second time I was told that the procedure would be smooth and I quote "If I am not able to successfully complete this it will be the first time" I guess my cat was a Freak Case because they charged me $800 to cut him open, look at him, and sew him back up! And while on the verge of tears over my cat (& the price) I was asked by a different vet if I wanted a cone, yes of course, $22 for a piece of plastic and a foot of fucking gauze. They also prescribed him oral medication, any cat owner knows that they are gonna freak out taking it, did they expect me to grab my cat with an open wound on his stomach? I was referred to a different clinic through them to get this issue taken care of... read more

Its difficult to find a decent vet these days but I feel comfortable recommending cactus pet hospital after seeing them a few times now. They are more fairly priced and the staff all seem like they actually care about the animals in their care. Plus, they arent focused on pushing packages on you or limiting appointment times so they can meet some quota demanded by corporate overlords/private equity jerks. oh and btw, they won me after they sent us a handwritten card with their condolences after a heartbreaking experience with a newborn puppy that the other vet failed to examine despite charging for it.. for if he had, he would have noticed the pup was not ever going to survive based on its digestive tract not being fully formed so it could not pass any stool. Poor thing shouldnt have had to suffer any of the discomfort he did and I shouldnt have had to take off work and stress rushing the thing to see them and ultimately having to put him down. It maybe took them a total of 5 minutes but its the little things like that which differentiate one from the others, right? Thanks cactus pet hospital. Please dont sell out. read more

Today I visited Cactus Pet Hospital for the first time. They were very friendly and prompt. They did not try and push things on me to try and get me to purchase anything I did not need as far as medications, tests, etc. They explained it to me and easy to understand language and let me decide. If you ask them for their opinion, just like at any other business, they aren't really allowed to tell you what they would do. That is completely normal and acceptable. They explained everything to me clear enough that I feel I made the right decision. I will hear back from them within a few days once they receive the test results so I know for sure if my furkid is OK or not.... Mostly a good experience right until the end. We took our fur babies there for all their needs and they took great care of them. I can't recommend them enough for that. Where we ran into an issue was at the end of our time there when I needed a health summary to take my pets into another country. NOTE: I was not requesting an official USDA certification, just a simple note at the end of the visit with their health status. The vet tech absolutely refused--she kept saying over and over again that the Dr. didn't do that (the USDA cert, which I wasn't asking for). Ultimately, once someone was able to talk to the Doc at the visit, we got our health summaries and things were fine. The Doc had no problem signing the health summary. The vet tech was absolutely obstinate and rude, refusing to listen to what we were saying we needed instead of what she thought we needed. read more

My dog had been going to this hospital for years. The staff was always wonderful. After I talked with the dr, I decided on dental surgery to "make him more comfortable in his older years". I was told he was healthy upon physical examination and they would be doing blood work prior to surgery. I was told if any blood work or part of the health exam was off they would call me before doing surgery. Dropped my dog off at 8am. Never heard from them. Assumed all was great. I get a call about 5 hours later that his heart stopped. I understand there are risks to every surgery but my dog (that was declared healthy by this same hospital) passed away during dental surgery at this hospital! 2 stars because a few staff members were very kind when I ran to the hospital after they called with the bad news. read more

I took my dog back multiple times after his neuter surgery due to not eating or drinking for multiple days and they had told me to go back home and wait until Monday. My old vet every single time I had a visit would keep me updated and had a treatment plan and when to come back for check in this vet does not so I just have to assume when to go tbh. We moved to the area in the last year and our dogs have stayed healthy, so we had not found a new veterinarian yet. Cactus Pet Hospital was recommended to me by a local vet clinic that was not accepting new patients. Our dog had a new growth in his chest that I wanted checked out. When I called I was able to get in next day without any issues. The front desk was friendly and we only waited a few minutes before being brought back to the exam room. The vet tech was very friendly and kind, attentive to our dog. Dr. Nimitz came in shortly after and was wonderful. She was friendly and attentive to our dog, coming down to the floor to see my dog instead of making us out him on the exam table. She agreed to aspirate the growth on our dogs chest. The vet tech and Dr. Nimitz took my dog back to do the aspiration. This is fine by me, because I know pets are less likely to be jumpy/nervous if the owners aren't in the same space. Shortly after, they brought him back and let me know it was just a fatty deposit. Great news! The checkout was smooth and prices reasonable. This will be our vet and we will be sure to bring our other dog to the establish her as a patient before they get too busy! read more

I have been coming to this hospital for 15 YEARS!!!! And this new ownership has completely AMAZED me! Staff provides follow up calls for my fur monster, remind me that I have an upcoming appointment (super forgetful), and when I walk in, it DOESNT smell like bleach mixed w pet urine! HUGE PLUS!! Now, I'm not a super peppy person but my 17 week old golden doodle runs the show! Her goldie locks were out of control and the doctor must of felt my embarrassment OR maybe felt terrible for my monster; EITHER WAY he personally requested for a grooming appointment the next day, w my permission of course! He assured me, that my puppy would be provided the cleanest environment for a "gland squeeze spa day!" Now who can turn down such a relaxing, REASONABLY PRICED, grooming day! During our departure, we were greeted by a ferocious pit bull (that had more manners than Mr. Rogers himself) with their human AND a free ranged kitty cat roaming the lobby unamused by my puppy's refusal to walk on a leash and the pit bulls dramatic cries for attention. Staff was quick to have us checked out and scheduled for our last parvo vaccine (not mandated just strongly encouraged). Staff was SUPER humorous and friendly! And the Docs were incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in every which way!! Soooo YES! If it's not obvious, I'll be coming back each and every time needed... The LOYALTY runs deep but now even deeper! **Don't worry staff didn't bribe me with a treat for this review! I took my baby Madison here today because I thought she had kennel cough but it ended up being pneumonia! This vet got me in right away while other places in Phoenix area (including her normal vet) couldn't get her in until July 7th the earliest. The place seemed clean and was huge! I was very impressed by all the staff and they answered all my questions and helped my puppy feel better! I was mostly impressed by Jolene, the vet assistant. I feel like she went above and beyond to care for Maddy. She made the experience great and if I lived closer this would be the vet we would attend but sadly we are moving to the Midwest. My dog is my child and this vet and the staff treated her like royalty. I really appreciate it. Thank you ! I will be recommending this establishment to my Arizona dog moms! Madison update for the staff: I got her to start eating and drinking more today. I found if I put peanut butter on top of the wet food I got at the vet and her normal dog food she'll eat most if not all of it. I put ice cubes in her water dish and it's for some reason making her drink more. She looks like she is already feeling better and it hasn't even been 24hours. We've been looking for a new vet and a co-worker of my wife's suggested Cactus Pet Hospital. It's close to our home and I had noticed it before due to the gorgeous location. Gorgeous vet hospital with tall pines around it. Took our cat Rizzo in for his yearly check-up and shots. Francisco did the preliminary check and Dr. Suny did the main checkup. My fur baby is a 10 year old blind shih/poo. He is just adorable. He woke up weds with some belly issues. I gave it a day to resolve but he was still pooping watery stool. I called my *regular* vet yesterday and they could not get me in. The did refer me to a *sister hospital* - not sure how this is a sister hospital when both hospitals do not share files, resources, etc. To me, it was just - we are busy but here is another vet you can go to. I did make some calls and found Cactus -formally Ambassador. Since this is literally around the corner from my home I thought I'd give them a try. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot I felt so good about my decision. The building is a bit of country dropped into Glendale. Its spacious - its clean and - its calming. Best part - the staff - they were genuine, they were caring and they understood my concerns. First we met Rachel - wonderful. She was gentle and explained everything that she was doing to Beau. Even though he may not understand since he is blind he does rely on his sense of hearing. Next came Dr. Nimitz. She was great! She is approaching his issue using conservative treatment and if we can't resolve it, we'll begin blood work, etc. But for now, its antibiotics. This was like finding a gem. I have not been able to find a vet that I truly trusted. I look forward to a long relationship with Cactus and their providers. read more

Twice now they have scheduled us with little notice including once in an scramble to get one of our dogs a last minute vaccine to be boarded. We wouldn't have made that flight if they weren't able to squeeze us in at all even when we showed early they got us right in. Very welcoming place and very friendly knowledgeable staff. This was my dog's third visit to this animal hospital, but my first. My dog (frenchie) has bad allergies that contribute to other health problems, but I have owned him for 11 years and have a good sense of what he does or doesn't need. My boy's prescription for Apoquel ran out so I had to visit a vet to get it renewed. The front desk staff was very friendly, though I feel a little more attention to detail from them would be good feedback for them. I didn't have to wait to get into a room and it wasn't long before a vet tech came in to start the visit. She was very pleasant and we had a good chat about my boy's issues. After a few minutes, the vet came in with another young woman behind him. As soon as the vet walked in he immediately points out my dog's eye is funky, and explains why and what they can do. He continues looking my boy over pointing out all the things wrong with my 11 year old frenchie as though it was my first time hearing any of this, which made me feel a little strange since this same vet has seen my dog before and made all the same observations and suggestions previously, which we paid to have done, previously. The icing on the cake was when the vet pointed out my dog's thinning hair on his back as possible ringworm, and I had to remind him that he performed surgery on my dog and that is where they had shaved him. At that point I was wondering did the vet even look at his file before he came in there? This is not the kind of personalized attention I expect when paying hundreds/thousands of dollars for the care of my pet. I think this vet is used to just walking in and playing the same character every time he walks in, the all-knowing vet. Or maybe he was trying to impress the nameless girl who was following him around observing. He certainly didn't appear too busy to have looked at my dog's history before coming in and spouting off everything his trained eye sees without regard for who I am or how I will receive any of it, considering these were all known issues to me. In the end they offered my 9 line item services or medications totaling almost $400, 8 of which I declined because they had already been performed or wouldn't do any tangible good for my dog. I left satisfied with my Apoquel prescription and some hypo treats for about $120. Will I go back? Yes, because it is a nice facility, close to my house, and the staff was friendly. I do believe this vet clinic could benefit from more attention to MY details, a more personalized approach, and less of a stage presence from the vet, and more soft spoken conversations about my pet's care. Will gladly write another review or up my rating to more stars if they could just get these things right. My dog is well and the Apoquel treats his symptoms well and he leads a good, happy life. read more

We went here when they opened and stood outside waiting for them to open at 8. At 8;05 they open the door and rudely ask what we need. I told them our dog was very sick and we needed help she said well... it $96 to be seen and the dr doesn't come in until 8:30. She was incredibly uncaring and rude and what's the point of opening at 8 if a dr can't be there to help with emergencies. read more

After several alarming symptoms that popped up over the weekend (of course!), I called first thing Monday morning. They got me in within an hour! The building is dated but it was spotless and clean inside. Benches for people and animals to sit on while waiting. The receptionist helped with the paperwork, the assistant was thorough in her explanation and Dr Mario was experienced and professional. I called my cat was having issues and I am thankful they said they would see him, but then first the tech seemed scared to pick him up then they wanted over 600+ for test, I agreed to an enema, fluids rx and it was over 200. they kept him an hour and after I picked him up still no being able to potty, so what happened, did you really give him an enema? to see him again over 600+ or wouldn't see him again. This was a very sad situation and I write this with hopes that no one else goes through what we did. We brought our dog here for a small surgery and it went well so we decided to bring our cat here. Unfortunately we received bad news of kidney failure and after my cat hadn't been able to eat or drink we made the difficult decision to put her down. From what I understand there is a new owner (I did not meet him). We had an appointment and we waited 10 minutes for someone to come to the front and check us in. Then waited another 15 for the appointment, which was clearly not a pleasant one, so waiting really sucked. We were barely spoken to by anyone and there was a real lack of care for what was taking place. I have sadly had to put down 2 other animals in my life and thought I knew what to expect...nope! They sedated my 15 year old weak cat and then 10 minutes later the vet came in to euthanize her. He listened for a heartbeat and then proceeded to lift her lifeless head and tap her eyeball as I was crying over her. I was applaud and disgusted. I hope this never happens to anyone else. Would NOT recommend spending all that money for the service to see that happen to your beloved pet. read more

Called to see how much their spay prices are then they proceeded to tell me that they are no longer going to serve me anymore, and could not give me a reason to why they wouldn't serve me or my pets anymore at the end of the day the conclusion is, they are overpriced, rude, and don't know how to run a business, many many many other clinics out here that charge 1/4of the prices, better customer service as well as service, so do what you you please with this!!' I took my cat to this pet hospital. My cat had a mass on his tummy. They gave my cat 2 antibiotics and tried to get a sample of the mass with a syringe, which they could not do. After 304 dollars, they told me to come back several days later and they could try and figure out what was going on with my cat. I went to back the second visit. And then they wanted to recharge me for. The re exam charge , and another chg. for getting the sample again and it all came out to $745. And they never told me what was actually going on with my cat. Why did they give him antibiotics? Because they thought they had an infection? how did they come to that Conclusion? The veterinarian and the vet Tech acted like They were scared to touch my cat. They were both very hesitant to touch the cat. Do you work at a veterinarian office... Please do not ever take your animal here. I also waited one hour and seventeen minutes to be seen... If I could give this place zero stars I would. Their doctors added a medicine instead of renewing the correct medicine. At the time we picked up meds we called them confirming we had the right meds, as it was different. We were told yes it's just a generic brand. My dog now has kidney issues and they refuse to take responsibility, and his valley fever is back giving him seizures. They take zero responsibility! I would run away from this place. read more

I'm not sure what words to say about this place. I brought my 9 year old little boy in here after being to a few other Vet offices, he was in some really bad shape and honestly I thought he would need to be put to rest. Simon would just walk around in circles then end up in a corner where he would just stare at the wall and wasn't responsive to anything, he would not eat or drink so I was planing on the worst and thought I would try one more vet, maybe just to see if there where options of helping him relax and die naturally at home. The staff really showed that they were concerned about my little guy and would call to check to see how he was doing. After a few follow up visits and fluid injections Simon is is doing so much better now and acting like he is 4 years younger! I've been coming here since it was Ambassador Animal Hospital and with the new ownership I found it to be a smooth transition. Updates have been made making it brighter and a lighter atmosphere inside. The staff are wonderful and some stayed during the transition. What a beautiful place to get robbed. Probably not when what you were thinking when you entered this immaculate old country themed veterinarian hospital or lack there of. After I told them about a KNOWN allergy to the rabies vaccine my dogs had ...they proceeded to give them the vaccine with an appropriate benadryl shot beforehand, and send them home.... NOPE, no monitoring for even a couple hours. So when I got home and my beloved pets swelled up like a balloon I rushed thm back to a SURPRISED office staff. They correctly gave both dogs (one was balloon-like, the other had a rash all over) IV steroid and waited by ....for a little bit...then they RECHARGED me for the second visit an extra 100 dollars. Hmmmm they like to charge you like its going out of style it seems. Did I blame them for the reaction experienced by my pets..NO. DO I blame them for lack of consideration in billing me a 2nd time in the same day....YES!! read more
