Worst place ever, they basically just let my dog die. I took my dog back multiple times after his neuter surgery due to not eating or drinking for multiple days and they had told me to go back home and wait until Monday. Not even 12 hours later my dog had passed away. I would never recommend this pet hospital in my life. Made it seem like I was at fault. We were just trying to care for our baby.

    Two weeks after grooming.

I have been coming to this hospital for 15 YEARS!!!! And this new ownership has completely AMAZED me! Staff provides follow up calls for my fur monster, remind me that I have an upcoming appointment (super forgetful), and when I walk in, it DOESNT smell like bleach mixed w pet urine! HUGE PLUS!! Now, I'm not a super peppy person but my 17 week old golden doodle runs the show! Her goldie locks were out of control and the doctor must of felt my embarrassment OR maybe felt terrible for my monster; EITHER WAY he personally requested for a grooming appointment the next day, w my permission of course! He assured me, that my puppy would be provided the cleanest environment for a "gland squeeze spa day!" Now who can turn down such a relaxing, REASONABLY PRICED, grooming day! During our departure, we were greeted by a ferocious pit bull (that had more manners than Mr. Rogers himself) with their human AND a free ranged kitty cat roaming the lobby unamused by my puppy's refusal to walk on a leash and the pit bulls dramatic cries for attention. Staff was quick to have us checked out and scheduled for our last parvo vaccine (not mandated just strongly encouraged). Staff was SUPER humorous and friendly! And the Docs were incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in every which way!! Soooo YES! If it's not obvious, I'll be coming back each and every time needed... The LOYALTY runs deep but now even deeper! **Don't worry staff didn't bribe me with a treat for this review! More like I'm showing off where I take my pup for great affordable health care! xox

I took my baby Madison here today because I thought she had kennel cough but it ended up being pneumonia! This vet got me in right away while other places in Phoenix area (including her normal vet) couldn't get her in until July 7th the earliest. The place seemed clean and was huge! I was very impressed by all the staff and they answered all my questions and helped my puppy feel better! I was mostly impressed by Jolene, the vet assistant. I feel like she went above and beyond to care for Maddy. She made the experience great and if I lived closer this would be the vet we would attend but sadly we are moving to the Midwest. My dog is my child and this vet and the staff treated her like royalty. I really appreciate it. Thank you ! I will be recommending this establishment to my Arizona dog moms! Madison update for the staff: I got her to start eating and drinking more today. I found if I put peanut butter on top of the wet food I got at the vet and her normal dog food she'll eat most if not all of it. I put ice cubes in her water dish and it's for some reason making her drink more. She looks like she is already feeling better and it hasn't even been 24hours. Here's to hoping she recovers very soon ! Here are some pictures I took of Madison this afternoon after her appointment.

My fur baby is a 10 year old blind shih/poo. He is just adorable. He woke up weds with some belly issues. I gave it a day to resolve but he was still pooping watery stool. I called my *regular* vet yesterday and they could not get me in. The did refer me to a *sister hospital* - not sure how this is a sister hospital when both hospitals do not share files, resources, etc. To me, it was just - we are busy but here is another vet you can go to. I did make some calls and found Cactus -formally Ambassador. Since this is literally around the corner from my home I thought I'd give them a try. From the moment I pulled into the parking lot I felt so good about my decision. The building is a bit of country dropped into Glendale. Its spacious - its clean and - its calming. Best part - the staff - they were genuine, they were caring and they understood my concerns. First we met Rachel - wonderful. She was gentle and explained everything that she was doing to Beau. Even though he may not understand since he is blind he does rely on his sense of hearing. Next came Dr. Nimitz. She was great! She is approaching his issue using conservative treatment and if we can't resolve it, we'll begin blood work, etc. But for now, its antibiotics. This was like finding a gem. I have not been able to find a vet that I truly trusted. I look forward to a long relationship with Cactus and their providers.

They're the best for cats. Great staff, easy to get seen, straight talk. We've taken our cat there for the last 12 years. Do pass them by.

During his first visit, Dr. Waters confirmed his heart murmur and gave a clear evaluation. On the second visit, Dr. Heather Oyan performed his neuter surgery and also handled follow-up care. They did a great job with the procedure, and Dr. Oyan personally called me afterward to go over his fecal test results. She took time to talk about how well Blackie behaved and even mentioned how much the staff liked him--which was comforting to hear. They also did a laser treatment to help him heal faster and gave me helpful suggestions for improving his digestion. Everything they recommended worked--he's calmer now, not meowing all night or trying to escape constantly. Prices are reasonable, and the wait time is average. Just don't expect to be in and out quickly--give yourself time, and always make an appointment. They're busy because they're good, and it's worth the patience. I felt listened to and respected throughout the process. If you're looking for a vet that combines skill, kindness, and real communication, Sun Valley Hope is a solid choice.

Then they put me in a uncleaned room from a previous family that left after putting their dog down ( hint the chocolate in the room). Hair on the chairs, unknown liquid on the table, nail clipping, hair on the table too. I popped my head out to ask if this room had been cleaned and a lady said no I don't think so I was about to, I'm so sorry. The Dr immediately started cleaning the room and apologized too. All in all the staff are kind here, but I don't think it's ran very organized. Prices are good too! The wait time and cleanliness not so much... I arrived at 3:47 and didn't leave till 5:25 and only bc I opened the door to leave.. :/ After an hr wait to even get into the room. It made me uncomfortable, and not ideal. My dog was getting nervous too.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Chuck Toben. I just wish every vet treated my dog the way…read morehe does. My dog is geriatric, medically complex, previously abused and used to hate but is now just pretty avoidant of most men. Within the first couple of visits my dog leaned on Dr. Toben's legs while my dog was feeling weak....I was absolutely floored. Dr. Toben has gone out of his way to help my dog, last minute, over the phone, with appointments, and has been just so insightful and helpful in a way so many other vets cannot do. Most primary care vets get super overwhelmed w/ my dog's health problems, as a lot of my dog's health issues have unknown causes. I went to see many primary care docs in the valley who I really could not trust w/ my dog, or tolerate myself (over 5). Dr. Toben has never even once snapped at me or my dog, gotten overwhelmed (in a way that was even remotely perceivable anyway), has never tried to nickle & dime me, and most importantly, has never given up on my dog. I just cannot place a value on Chuck's honest approach to animal care and kindness towards my dog and me. Chuck will keep trying, trying different things, is always open to suggestions, knows when to sort of make firmer recommendations and take control and when to give space for feedback. He's crazy smart, he knows about so many of my dog's issues in a way that usually only internal med docs seem to be able to discuss, and he is consistently genuinely compassionate and humane. Dr. Toben is just basically a freaking giant brained angel. My only regret is that I'm not loaded so I can't make a massive donation to this clinic. This is exactly what I think all vets should be like, I of course have been really very picky and have a dog w/ a very difficult medical status, and I definitely 1,000% recommend him. Chuck is the first doc I've strongly recommended, by the way, after seeing 2 primaries in MO, 5 specialists in MO, 2 docs in Mexico, 3 internal med docs in AZ, and more than 5 primary care vets in AZ....again, my dog is a very difficult medical case, and Dr. Toben is absolutely the doc for the hardest cases....and thank God that there are vets out there like Chuck who are so good for our poor beloved pets who were previously abused b/c these animals are so sorely in need of kindness and quality care. I'm eternally grateful for this clinic and Dr. Toben.

My dog came in after being bitten and was having a serious allergic reaction with hives. We had already given him Benadryl before arriving. The staff told us they were going to administer a steroid injection, which we agreed to and believed had been done. Later, we found out that no steroid was given at all. Instead, they gave my dog another shot of Benadryl--something he had already received--while acting as if it was the steroid they said he needed. Because his condition didn't improve, we had to rush him to another clinic, where he was immediately given the steroid shot that actually helped him. Beyond the medical issue, the staff was rude, dismissive, and lacked compassion. They acted as though they cared about my pet, but their actions proved otherwise. This felt careless and misleading, and it put my dog at risk. Now I'm stuck disputing the charge with my bank for services that were either misrepresented or not properly provided. Please think twice before bringing your pet here. When it comes to your animal's health and safety, honesty and proper care matter--and that was not my experience at this clinic.

They wear sweet smiles as a mask to manipulate and guilt you into accepting exorbitant, overpriced procedures. My chihuahua had a large tumor that needed removal, and they slapped me with a $10,000 price tag--an amount completely out of reach. Not only did they fail to offer any reasonable or affordable alternatives, they pressured me to take financing at an outrageous 26% interest rate. It was clear from the start that neither my pet's well-being nor my financial reality mattered to them. In the end, they pushed me into buying end-of-life medications, essentially selling me a slow, painful goodbye disguised as "peace." It's a cruel business disguised as care. Thanks to a friend's referral, I found a surgical vet who removed the tumor for $1,100--and now my dog is healthier and happier than ever. 43rd Ave Animal Hospital may have a polished façade, but it's infested with doctors who are more interested in lining their pockets than saving lives. If you're looking for superficial care and don't mind being exploited, maybe they'll work for you. But if you want real compassion and respect for your pet and your wallet, run far, far away.
