But you can still tell that it was beautiful in its day. The rooms are surrounded by fields and woods. We arrived at dusk, in the summer, and there were a lot of fire flies. My 5 1/2 year old ran after them. The sounds of crickets and maybe even frogs was loud all night. Our room faced the courtyard, which is definitely nicer than the rooms facing the parking. If you like David Lynch, you will definitely love this hotel.

Driving in, we liked how the hotel is tucked away on a hill off the main road. As we pulled up, we were greeted with a beautiful view overlooking the lake and mountains. We were happy to find out our room had that same view, and the hotel also has a large balcony where you can sit and take it all in. Check-in was quick and professional. The older gentleman at the front desk had a rough, sarcastic sense of humor that gave us a laugh. There was also plenty of parking right out front. The room itself was good. The bed was comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was excellent, the Wi-Fi worked without any issues, and the room was clean with no off smells. The rooms also had a fridge. That said, I do think the hotel as a whole could use a deep cleaning of the carpets. The lobby carpet especially looked worn and could probably be cleaned or replaced. There's a pool which we were glad to have. We met another family staying there and our kids ended up playing together. We also met an elderly couple who told us they come back every year just to relax which says a lot about the atmosphere here. One downside was the housekeeping staff. They were too loud in the hallways and could definitely use some training on being mindful of guests. There's no breakfast but they do offer complimentary coffee along with grab and go goodie bags in the morning with muffins and granola bars. It was a nice gesture but I think even a simple continental breakfast would make this hotel a much stronger value. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The views are the biggest selling point, the room was comfortable and clean, and the atmosphere was relaxing. If you're looking for a reasonably priced place to stay with a great view and don't mind skipping breakfast, this is a solid option.

The room was pretty clean however, when you go to a hotel, you always spray Lysol and you always wipe down. I found the picture frames to have dust on it. It was a little dirty, but other than that, everything else was pretty clean, they give you a lot of towels they give you a fair amount of tissue as well and sheets so kudos for that because most hotels do not give you a lot of towels overall it was a great day and I will definitely come back.

Upon further inspection in the light of day, there were a couple of dead stink bugs on the carpet by my suitcase. Overall, I was happy we had a place to stay, but if we had to make the choice to stay in Newburgh again, I would pick a different hotel. What I can say was that the room cost in the neighborhood of $70. I'm not sure what the local going rate is, but I thought that was reasonable for even an iffy experience. I would have just hoped for $70, they could have at least vacuumed. Sorry HoJo, going to have to do better than that to get 3 or 4 stars out of this girl.

In fact this hotel shows "free breakfast" on the site I booked on, but they DO NOT serve breakfast anymore. First thing I noticed was that there is no ice bowl, cups, coffee maker of any kind, things that every hotel in the world always has. Then I found the ice machine broken. The manager says he is "working on it" but I saw no action. I turned the shower on and the handle fell off in my hands. The water ran yellow for 20 seconds. We had 4 people in my party and the body wash ran out before the first person could even finish the shower. The TV didn't work, DirectTV was down because there were clouds in the sky.
