We arrived before 4:00pm they opened on-time as there was already a queue forming outside. Very small dining area, bar seating and wall seating (stools lining the hallway wall with small ledge for eating). Open tiny kitchen where all the prepping/cooking/dishwashing is done. A normal full bar and friendly quick service. Our steak was done as requested (med. rare) and very tasty. Got the classic ribs and were dry rubbed so it was tasty and tender- on the drier side with little fat. Would have loved bbq sauce on the side instead of the white garlic sauce and the Thousand Island sauce (weird) . Enjoyed the baked potato and chopped salad with a sweet vinaigrette. Plain French bread slices accompanied meals- no butter. Outside seating available. Friendly service.
Such a great little spot in Amsterdam. It's cozy and the food is amazing. The BEST ribs! They are so flavorful and fall right off the bone. I didn't even need sauce, they are just that good. The baked potato is basic with butter, but that damn butter is out of this world. It was the best baked potato I have ever had. Service was friendly and we just loved this place.
Cafe De Klos was highly recommended and I understand why it was suggested. Believe the hype. The ribs are legit. I got the normal portion of the ribs and that includes two big ribs(25 Euros)I got the classic ribs with dry rub. The ribs were tender and delicious. The bones came out cleanly. The flavor was on point. The garlic butter for the baked potato was flavorful. I was so much food that I could not finish everything. Definitely eat here if you are on holiday in Amsterdam. You will not regret it.
Nice vibe. Nice host. Quick service. It was more like bar than a cafe. We ordered sirloin, ribs and escargot. The thick cut sirloin from Holstein Friesian had an unique buttery taste. . Perfect medium rare. Juicy, tender and loaded with flavor. Minimum cooking which we absolutely enjoy. The ribs were must from a happy beer-fed pig. Again, minimum cooking yet delivered clean, simple succulent relish.
We came here for dinner after walking around the city. My husband had eaten here before, it's a favorite spot of the Delta air crews. It's a small bar that Serves the most amazing ribs. We sat at the bar and ordered ribs, French onion soup, and a baked potato. It was a very good meal and a fun bar to hang out at.
A very cozy, friendly place and amazing ribs! Especially the classic ribs--they absolutely fell off the bone. The smoked ribs were extremely flavorful but were not nearly as tender. Note that the portions are large: "two ribs" actually means two slabs of about 4 ribs each. Highly recommend a visit if you are a meataholic.
Wow! This was our first stop in Amsterdam and I am couldn't have been happier. We got seated at the bar as there were no tables available, which was perfectly fine. It is a small bar/restaurant. We were able to put in our orders pretty quickly. My husband and I ordered ribeye plate and the rib plate (2 pieces). All plates come with a salad, 2 sauces, and bread to share. Those ribs were phenomenal! They are made fresh, as well as the steak, and you can actually see them making it. We ordered the steak to be cooked medium and it was perfect. There was so much flavor in the steak and ribs that the sauces weren't needed at all. The salad that came with the meal was O-K in my opinion, a little too sweet for my taste, but my husband enjoyed it. The service was fantastic! Extremely friendly and checked up on us a good amount. I would recommend trying this place! If we're ever in Amsterdam again, we will be back!

We were recommended this restaurant by a work friend. Inside it looks like an unassuming old school pub but once you sit down you will realize just how unique this place is!l. For one thing, they were playing classic hits like Dolly Parton. For another, they are serving up some serious spice rubbed BBQ! Their menu is pretty fun. I got the "Normal" size pork ribs which comes with 2 pieces but honestly was big enough to feed two people. Other sizes were "A lot" and I think "More". They also have menus on their shirts in case you have trouble finding a menu. Those pork ribs were fall off the bone tender! They're up there with the top ribs I've ever had, coming from someone who has eaten bbq all over the US. The ribs had so much flavor that they didn't even need sauce, but the sauces were on point too and the salad was refreshing. What really made this a five star experience for me was the owner Kim. He is hilarious! We enjoyed our time eating delicious food and hearing stories from him with a joke or two thrown in (sometimes at our expense) Besides the owner, the other workers were very nice too. There was some good back and forth going between the bar and the kitchen. This is the kind of place that you go to and immediately feel welcomed like a regular. Highly recommend it, if not for the food, then for the top tier banter.
When in Amsterdam head to - a barbecue place? Hey, my husband had heard this place was great, and he wasn't wrong. He couldn't get in last time, so we were on a mission. As luck would have it, a table opened up for us. Be prepared to wait though, as they don't take reservations and this place is small. Thanks to Yelp, we'd read that the smoked pork ribs run a bit salty so we ordered three of the classic pork ribs for the two of us. They come with a small salad and bread, and it was a feast! We added a baked potato with garlic butter which ended up being overkill. The ribs are plenty filling on their own. The meat is divine - no sauce, just fall of the bone tender and succulent. They give you some side sauces that I found completely unnecessary and kind of hard to describe. They were more like salad dressing and didn't add much to the ribs. The meat was perfect without any help. The salad was also very nondescript, but the bread was good. All in all, an unexpectedly great find in Amsterdam.

I tried to come to this place several years ago when I was In Amsterdam and there was no room during the night that I had available. The post-pandemic lockdown Yelp reviews are still solid so, this one was on the short list of places to hit during our recent stay. I'm glad we made the trip. We didn't call ahead, but since we were sort of nearby, we decided to try and lucked out: two tables had just been vacated. My wife and I shared a "3 pieces" portion of the classic pork ribs and a baked potato. This was plenty of food for us, with each "piece" consisting of about 4 bones -- a typical measure in the US where we live for odd units of measurement ;) The ribs were fantastic. There was a bit of crust on them, they were lightly spiced and perfectly cooked: fall off the bone tender and juicy. Granted, "perfect" ribs means a lot of different things depending on where you live. I really enjoyed them. The sauces are interesting... basically something like Russian dressing (pink) and an aioli (yellow)... I guess this has caused some consternation among other Americans visiting a "barbecue" place, but I liked them. Frankly, the meat stood on its own, which is the point for me anyway. Keep in mind that there are no notes of hickory or mesquite, or even oak or pecan here, but I encourage you to keep an open mind, roll with it, and embrace the porkiness. Our waiter was friendly and helpful in choosing portion sizes and recommended a darker beer for me (seasonal, brewed by their brewery, I believe) that was phenomenal. (De Gawaeghde Bock) The salad reminded me a bit of coleslaw from the US, but without the mayonnaise and cabbage (ok, so, what's left?)... it was nice but hardly the star of the show. The accompanying bread was tender in the middle and crunchy on the outside. We were greeted, seated and served in a reasonable time and I enjoyed everything. I recommend and would go back for sure.
I had bookmarked this place to come to dinner sometime, and last night was that time! Recommend reservations, but once again, we just showed up, and the manager says we could sit at the bar, that's our favorite place to sit anyway, in the middle of the sction Definitely appreciated the vibe here--classic rock playing in the background, not too loudly. Staff were welcoming and jovial, joking with us from the beginning. . Very lively fun atmosphere here. Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues! We have been to Amsterdam two times, and have come here two times. What a delicious place! The bar is fabulous and the food is even better! We had reservations this last time as we had a larger group. And the service was top notch and easy. Will be back when we make it back. And also recommend to anyone headed there!! read more

It's all about the food. It's a meat lovers paradise. We did the ribs, which I believe is their specialty, and they were exceptional. The decor is minimalist, and the service is minimalist,, and the presentation is minimalist, however the ribs are awesome. Come here because you want generous portions of great meat. Do not come here looking for a salad. And yes, I would do this again. read more

My husband and I visited Amsterdam in July, and stayed in the middle of the center. Searched for places to eat nearby and found this cafe, had mixed reviews about service but seemed like the food looked good. This place is just wonderful and the food is unforgettable. I literally dream about this barbecue. I suggest getting the two types of bbq, husband and I shared it and I thought it would have been too much food but we finished it all. The meat falls off the bone, consistent balanced flavor, great quality, great quantity. The beer was light and great, I usually don't drink light beers because over in the US it's like piss water but this one was great. I had two beers! For the people that do not understand the humor of the employees like y'all need to laugh a little, it's not that serious. We had the same service and it was great! Our server kept checking on us but gave us space to enjoy but always checking on us. Have great recommendations for the food & beer. We laughed he laughed it was great, not a single bad vibe. read more

This place was recommended to us by a friend who has visited Amsterdam multiple times and said this is one of their all time favorites! We also met someone from Orlando in line who also has been coming here for over 20 years. The ribs didn't not disappoint. For me they were the best I have ever had. They are salty and full of flavor. The flavor of the meat comes through because there are no other spices. Put your name on list and enjoy! read more

Second time visiting Amsterdam. First time I went Cafè De Klos had a long wait so I ended up not trying it. But this time I had the pleasure of trying it and was not disappointed, the food was outstanding. I highly recommend the classic ribs! It comes with bread, wet napkins, and a delicious salad. The layout and decor was very interesting as well, felt like a historic restaurant. I will say it's small inside and they only accept people who are there to eat, they also own a bar right across the street for those of you whom want to drink. 10/10, I'll be back! read more

5 stars! I was referred to Cafe de Klos by a friend of mine who used to frequent Amsterdam years ago. He told me if I loved eating meat, that this place is a can't miss. We arrived about 20 minutes before the place actually opened, so we left and came back exactly at 4pm. When we got back there was a line already forming outside waiting for the opening. The doors open and we sit down at the bar. I can't remember the bartenders name but he was a no-nonsense guy with extremely dry humor that was hilarious. He cracked several jokes but didn't smile once. We decided to order a few glasses of wine and the "A lot" portion of the spare ribs mixed with both classic and smoked ribs. The classic ribs were better to me than the smoked ribs. However, both were tasty! Next time I'm in Amsterdam, I'm ordering all classic. I'm from Texas. I know ribs. Great ribs don't need BBQ sauce if cooked correctly. These didn't, especially the classic rub. The baked potato was a great compliment to the ribs as well. I didn't even go for the salad because I was there to strictly be a carnivore. What a great experience this was. This place reminds me of the old days. No flat screen TVs to distract you, no loud music. The music selection was perfect for the cozy atmosphere. I really enjoyed this place and will be back whenever I go back to Amsterdam. We were treated well, contrary to a previous recent review that said they weren't treated well because they were Americans. I didn't get that vibe at all. read more
