My husband and I went to eat here last night at 5 PM. We sat outside. I ordered the Luxembourg burger. My husband ordered the Sammy breakfast sandwich. The waitress right away asked him if he wanted a side? He then proceeded to ask for his choices and then order the side salad. When the bill came, we were shocked to see a three dollar up charge. My expectations of a waitress/restaurant is you explain to the customer what the sandwich does come with if anything and then explain up charges for additional sides. It was a tricky way for waitress to do it. Also, I'm a Hefeweizen beer drinker. And Café Hollander did not have one Hefeweizen on tap. Huge beer menu and not one. Our server, Paige, was pleasant and somewhat attentive, although we needed to flag her down for water refills during our meal. Overall, this is. A bit pricey for the quality and size of the food. It is in the sending mall area in Brookfield. My chicken club wrap was small and came with fries, but a wrap for $16.95 and only 5 inches long (cut in half) is certainly not inexpensive. We both loved our meals. The Thai sweet chili sauce on the Turkey sandwich made it the perfect combo. My husband got the fish fry and mentioned it was one of the best he's had - the potato chip crust is a must. This place is casual and low effort but still has a sense of put together style. The food is the star of the show. Understated, with a wide variety of comfort foods to choose from. I ordered the Luxemburger. Herb garlic cheese spread, caramelized onions, pickles, arugula, mustard all nestled onto a brioche bun. I was a little nervous since I'm not the biggest mustard fan, but I decided to just trust the process on this one. All the flavors went well together and complimented each other perfectly. Typically, I do not finish burgers. I end up with 4 bites left and quit. Not on this one. The flavor was so good I just kept going back for more. For my side, I upgraded to the sweet potato fries. They were the perfect ratio of sweet and soft inside while crispy and salty outside. Another item that usually doesn't get finished but my plate was empty till our waitress came back. Speaking of, she kept our glasses full and checked in frequently enough to keep us satisfied without being overbearing. The ambiance was really nice. Social and not too quiet. I enjoyed the look and feel of the place. We ordered the meatloaf and the grilled cheese beef toasti which were both really good! The mushrooms and gravy on the meatloaf gave it a nice flavor that was different from your average meatloaf. The grilled cheese was also delicious and the beef was very tender. We ordered it with sweet potatoes fries which were VERY good! We also tried the jambalaya and that was also delicious, had a little spice but more of a peppery spice than a spiced spice. Came for dinner to celebrate my 8 yr old son's birthday. We sat in our favorite booth and the service was on point as always. Haillie was attentive and warm, making the evening special for us and the birthday boy. We make our way out here pretty often, because our kids like it and the food is always tasty. A group of 10 visited this establishment on a Saturday evening with a 5:15 reservation. The restaurant was busy but not overly so, we were seated promptly on arrival. The restaurant has two levels and we were seated upstairs, for anyone with a problem climbing stairs should be alert and ask for seating on the main level when making reservations. Seating was comfortable, tables were appointed with condiments, linen napkins and small flower arrangements. Service was prompt and friendly, and we were offered the choice of how we would be billed. Didn't turn out quite the way we asked but it wasn't a big deal. Water was provided without having to ask for it, a nice courtesy not always extended today. Drink orders were taken and took a little longer to arrive than one might have expected. Prices for cocktails and mixers went from about $10-15. Appetizers were ordered, frites, cheese curds and a couple cups of soup. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time, were plentiful and were enjoyed by all. These came in at between $8-14 depending on the item. Dinner orders were taken at about 6:10 and arrived surprisingly fast considering there were 10 meals ordered. I didn't get a chance to talk with everyone about their meals but those that had burgers were ok with their sandwiches. A few people ordered meat loaf and were disappointed with that meal, describing it as bland and dry with too little gravy. I had the mini sliders, three burgers with cheddar cheese and crispy onions. These were ok but a little more cheese and onions would have made them better. Overall the meal for me was better than my last experience at this restaurant. For an appetizer, cocktail, soda and sliders my bill with tax and tip came in at about $50. read more

We come to Cafe Hollander on most trips back to Milwaukee (my family loves this spot). The space is really cool, food is good, & their drink selection is large. This time, however, we came on a Sunday around 11am. The restaurant wasn't super busy & we were sat immediately. Our server came over and took our orders fairly quickly, which was nice. Once we had our food, though, we didn't see our server again until he breezed by & asked if we were ready for the check. The table across from us had a different server & were checked on regularly, had their coffees refilled, & were given water glasses without having to ask for them, so it was a really stark contrast to the service we had. Service aside, the food also wasn't amazing this time around. I had the Avocado Smorrebrod, which is basically avocado toast. The toast itself was pretty good, I like that you can get 1 piece of toast instead of the standard order of 2, so I got a side of breakfast potatoes. The plate felt as if it had been sitting for a while, which is a shame because we waited so long for our food to even arrive. All in all, this was a disappointing trip to Cafe Hollander. If we come back to this location, hopefully next time is better! read more

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday. Overall, it has a cute vibe and we sat on the rooftop which was nice. We got the cheese curds, donuts and Cajun omelette. The curds and omelette were good. However, the donuts didn't live up to the hype and the potatoes with the omelette tasted like they had been fried 4-5 times. I live very close to this location and really want it to be better. They do some things well, like offering a unique selection of beers with a lot of imports. However the beer prices are pretty high. The food is also inconsistent, during my last visit I ordered a pretzel breakfast sandwich which was quite tasty. I ordered a Mac and cheese upgraded side, which didn't come out until I asked for it, my sandwich came with fries instead which were cold. When the Mac and cheese did arrive, it was also cold and wasn't very good. I planned on having a second beer, but the server didn't check on us the entire time we are until I only had a single bite of sandwich remaining. I've visited this location about 5 times because it's so close, but the service is almost always poor. This place has so much potential. read more

I've come here for some work dinners and we've sat both inside and out. The western facing patio is just beautiful...you won't even know you are in Wisconsin. The service was pretty good and the food was standard lowlands fair. The Mac n cheese is always a winner. We didn't have a full meal, but based on the menu quality we would love to be back again. We enjoyed the basket of cheese curds - very generous portion. I planned an event (baby shower) to take place in the Four Seasons Room of this location, and although I was extremely busy with other 'life events' during the planning stages, Molly in the catering department was understanding and patient with receiving my responses and food / drink selections etc. On the day of the event, I was feeling a bit nervous because it's not as if you get a chance to practice setting up the 'vision' you have of your event decorations etc., but I have to say, everything turned out just as I had envisioned, and we had an absolutely OUTSTANDING experience. The food was great, our servers Danica and Ally were absolutely THE BEST, and their smiles, professionalism, attention to the Mom to be, and all of our guests - was unmatched. I was extremely impressed, and of course, as the host, it was great to receive feedback from so many of the guests, that they were equally impressed with how the entire event flowed, how great the food was, and that Danica and Ally were super attentive. Decided to try Cafe Hollander again for breakfast this time. Got two eggs Benedicts and pancakes to go. Didn't mess up the pancakes however worst X-Menedict ever tried out potatoes ridiculous No hollandaise sauce anywhere to be seen and diced ham that was hard to recognize from the dried out potatoes. Thanks for poached correctly that was it very disappointed again in this restaurant. Should have examined food. Very disappointed for a Mary expensive country for breakfast/brunch!! Flavor was good but the portion size was very small with hardly any beef. Hardly a meal. My wife had the chicken wrap which she orders often at other restaurants. This was comparatively the smallest wrap for the money we have seen. Really marginal all the way around. They have an awesome beer and cocktail menu, but be prepared to pay for it. Great vibes here and love the atmosphere of this location. They have awesome options for outdoor seating. It is the perfect spot to hang with friends or grab a drink after shopping. Everyone finds something that they love, regardless of what their preferences are. I would certainly recommend their cheese curds. I'm not even any kind of a cheese curd expert, but paired with the sauce they give you, it's a hit with everyone who's ever tried them. You can buy some apparel here, and they've got outdoor seating, even heated! Service has always been nice; we don't encounter rudeness or people being short on patience. We commonly pick up burgers, wraps, cheese curds, and drinks. Also, the breakfast items that are served constantly are really excellent. The combinations of ingredients give it the right amount of "pop" when you're taking it down. Overall, it's worth the wait when there is a wait. Personally, I find that their wait times are pretty inaccurate in a good way. We always get seated well before their predictions when the place is really busy. Just dined here for brunch, I ordered the BELT-A which was soooo delicious! my over hard egg was cooked perfectly with the right amount of bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, so tasty! My kiddos got the kids pancakes - always a favorite! We also ordered a frite cone - oh my gosh! the BEST fries I've had in a long time, they were hot, fresh, and crispy and tasted amazing with the curry ketchup (you can choose from a variety of dipping sauce). Needed an option for lunch on our road trip and my bestie found Cafe Hollander (we were craving cheese curds!). As soon as we walked through the front door, the host greeted us with a hello and a smile. Restaurant was absolutely huge and not busy at all. It was a beautiful fall day so we decided to take advantaged of it and enjoy the two level gorgeous patio, and sit outside. Wow! Such a wonderful patio. We ordered the sliders and cheese curds; yummy options. The sliders were absolutely fantastic and probably the best I've had somewhere. So good that we even thought about stopping for lunch in our way home a few days later. Our server was quieter, but nice. She was also working the patio by herself so not much extra time to talk too much with customers. Highly recommend this restaurant. Lots of options on the menu.
