GRAND CAFÉ CLUB & Prickly Pear Margarita

We both loved our meals. The Thai sweet chili sauce on the Turkey sandwich made it the perfect combo. My husband got the fish fry and mentioned it was one of the best he's had - the potato chip crust is a must. The cheese curds are definitely the best around - we ate too fast to take a picture I guess lol. The margarita is also delicious - I've ordered this several times now I think. We sat at the bar, service was quick and friendly. We came during March Madness and they had multiple TV's for us to watch. A lot of windows so it's very bright and inviting inside.

This place is casual and low effort but still has a sense of put together style. The food is the star of the show. Understated, with a wide variety of comfort foods to choose from. I ordered the Luxemburger. Herb garlic cheese spread, caramelized onions, pickles, arugula, mustard all nestled onto a brioche bun. I was a little nervous since I'm not the biggest mustard fan, but I decided to just trust the process on this one. All the flavors went well together and complimented each other perfectly. Typically, I do not finish burgers. I end up with 4 bites left and quit. Not on this one. The flavor was so good I just kept going back for more. For my side, I upgraded to the sweet potato fries. They were the perfect ratio of sweet and soft inside while crispy and salty outside. Another item that usually doesn't get finished but my plate was empty till our waitress came back. Speaking of, she kept our glasses full and checked in frequently enough to keep us satisfied without being overbearing. This spot is fairly laid back and relaxed, but it's still the perfect that casual night out.

The ambiance was really nice. Social and not too quiet. I enjoyed the look and feel of the place. We ordered the meatloaf and the grilled cheese beef toasti which were both really good! The mushrooms and gravy on the meatloaf gave it a nice flavor that was different from your average meatloaf. The grilled cheese was also delicious and the beef was very tender. We ordered it with sweet potatoes fries which were VERY good! We also tried the jambalaya and that was also delicious, had a little spice but more of a peppery spice than a spiced spice. The food and service did not disappoint. Definitely a place to try if you're in the area. Parking was slightly confusing when we first arrived though lol

Nice variety menu of drinks, appetizers, salads, entrees, and sandwiches. I liked the variety of Octoberfest beers available on tap. The cheese curds with the tangy ranch sauce were amazing. For my meal, I had the jambalaya. Nice portion size and just enough spice but not overwhelming. I also ordered the tomato bisque soup. It was flavorful and smooth. Service was ok but a bit slow but overall I would visit again.

This needs to be known that this was the best veggie burger of my life. Genuinely so insanely good. Good sweet potato fries too. A+ decor, A+ ambiance, so many seating options. The greens on the salad could be chopped a bit more, they were very stringy due to the nature of the plants. I will yearn for this veggie burger for the rest of my days.

Lovely (and festive) atmosphere and good service. My party enjoyed their food. I had the gluten-free turkey Reuben and it was ok...there was not a lot of flavor in it. But I shouldn't be surprised...it was GF and dairy free (no cheese). I would to add a veggie or put pickles in it to make it more flavorful. I like their rewards program. And it was great to see that they have trivia night!

Everything from the super friendly host , amazing food, and clean restaurant made my experience fantastic! Had the sconnie burger and it was cooked medium perfectly and the cheese curds skewer was a cool touch. Will be going back for that! Maggie the restaurant manager came and talked to our table and she was amazing! Really friendly and attentive!

We come to Cafe Hollander on most trips back to Milwaukee (my family loves this spot). The space is really cool, food is good, & their drink selection is large. This time, however, we came on a Sunday around 11am. The restaurant wasn't super busy & we were sat immediately. Our server came over and took our orders fairly quickly, which was nice. Once we had our food, though, we didn't see our server again until he breezed by & asked if we were ready for the check. The table across from us had a different server & were checked on regularly, had their coffees refilled, & were given water glasses without having to ask for them, so it was a really stark contrast to the service we had. Service aside, the food also wasn't amazing this time around. I had the Avocado Smorrebrod, which is basically avocado toast. The toast itself was pretty good, I like that you can get 1 piece of toast instead of the standard order of 2, so I got a side of breakfast potatoes. The plate felt as if it had been sitting for a while, which is a shame because we waited so long for our food to even arrive. All in all, this was a disappointing trip to Cafe Hollander. If we come back to this location, hopefully next time is better!

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday. Overall, it has a cute vibe and we sat on the rooftop which was nice. We got the cheese curds, donuts and Cajun omelette. The curds and omelette were good. However, the donuts didn't live up to the hype and the potatoes with the omelette tasted like they had been fried 4-5 times. They were hard, overly crunchy and it was challenging to taste the actual potato.

Always a consistent experience at Cafe Hollander. Love the drink/food pairing options. And you cannot go wrong with soup/sandwich combo - of course select tomato soup and perfectly grilled cheese sandwich accompaniment. Your tummy will thank you!

Had a wonderful experience here this afternoon. Our first time here having recently arrived to the area for my husband's travel nursing assignment. Excellent service out on the patio from Katherine. Thanks! Love that the outdoor space allowed for our dog to join. Very extensive beer menu plus an impressive cocktail menu including several Bloody Mary iterations. We didn't have a full meal, but based on the menu quality we would love to be back again. We enjoyed the basket of cheese curds - very generous portion. Comes with sriracha ranch and we added an additional sauce of charred poblano buttermilk. I wanted to bottle up and bring both sauces home. SO DELICIOUS and house made. Hubby tried two beers and both were winners for him. My bloody - I tried the cilantro infused one - came with a "chaser" of a draft beer. Nice little touch.

At one point, I worked as a restaurant and wine critic in NYC. One of my favorite restaurants,…read morecalled Dean Street Cafe, was located across the street from my apartment. They made a terrific burger with a slab of blue cheese topped with tart pickled red onions. But their signature dish, if you will, were the perfectly cooked handcut french fried they served with their burgers. The fries were long, expertly crispy and pillowy soft inside. The last fry was as crisp as the first. My brother, a chef from Ohio, came to visit once and I took him there. His eyes popped at the first fry he ate and exclaimed, "Damn, someone in the kitchen cares about potatoes!" That happened to me the first time I ate at Mimosa. I ordered an omelet with the house breakfast potatoes, which taste like they are slowly cooked in olive oil until fork tender and crispy on the edges. Easily some of the best potatoes I have had in MKE. Then I reached across the table and stole a handcut french fry from my daughter's plate. Late in the meal, the fry was still warm, brown and perfectly crispy. "Damn", I said, "Someone in the kitchen cares about potatoes!" Then disaster struck. The regular french fry cutter die must have broken in the kitchen, and now they cut the fries terribly thick like Lincoln Logs. Sure they're still beautifully brown, but because they are so think and have a higher moisture content to surface area they simply cannot get crispy enough. Within a minute of the hitting the table the logs of fries are soft and soggy, and no amount of fry time will help. If it were not for the great fry debacle, a story I have yet to confirm with the restaurant, Mimosa would easily be one of my few five-star restaurants in the MKE. The menu is large and offers something for everyone. Including many gluten-free and plant-based options for myself, old school corned beef and hash for my dad, terrific south of the border specials that my wife loves, and plenty for our kids. Sure the fries were once legendary (and I hope the chef will read this and order a replacement die for the fry cutter), but if you've made it this far in my review rest assured that every dish here taste like it is cooked by someone in the kitchen who cares about their craft, and the house potatoes are an (almost) fine substitute for what was once Milwaukee's best french fry.

I like to try something a little different, so I ordered the Avocado Toast with Eggs. I requested my eggs over easy, and they came out perfectly cooked. Service: We arrived right as they opened, so there were only a few occupied tables. We were seated immediately. Our server did a great job getting us settled in, gave us plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made us feel rushed. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our meal. Atmosphere: The restaurant has a welcoming feel. Large windows fill the dining room with natural light, and the tables and booths provide plenty of space. The noise level was low enough to enjoy a quiet conversation. I also liked how they used wood posts and beams to break up the large dining room, making it feel more intimate. Nice touch. Overall, it was a solid breakfast experience. I'd love to see a few more inventive daily specials to complement the menu.

I saw a picture of their breakfast burrito on social media and made plans to stop the next day. In addition to the breakfast burrito, which came with a side of hash browns, I ordered cheddar broccoli soup and was gifted a brownie for visiting. The breakfast burrito is build your own with a bunch of different options for meats, cheese, and veggies. I went with bacon, American cheese, and spinach and wasn't disappointed. The burrito was hefty and every one of the ingredients stood out. This is something I would definitely come back for. The three hash brown patties tasted as you'd expect and I appreciate that they weren't cold in the middle or bland. You can definitely notice the freshness in the soup. It was thick and used actual florets of broccoli, not just the stalks. Given the size of the burrito I had just eaten, though, I wish there was an option for a smaller portion of soup. The bowl was large and if you just plan on having that as a meal it's fine, but I would have preferred buying a cup as compared to a large bowl. Hopefully that's something they consider as a menu tweak. I'm not a big brownie person, but I enjoyed it. Like the burrito and the soup, it was a sizable portion, so worth the price if you're buying one. I'd be interested in trying their lemon bar or coffee cake on a future visit as those are more up my alley. I enjoyed talking to the woman who was prepping the dining area while I was there.
