OMG. A friend suggested we go to Waking Daisy, one of her favorite places, for brunch today, and wow, am I glad we did! I have never had such a delicious eggs Benedict. I selected the avocado Florentine version, with sautéed spinach, avocado slices, perfectly poached eggs and homemade hollandaise sauce on toasted English muffin halves. It was light and creamy and contrasted perfectly with the crunchy English muffins. Paradise on a plate! Accompanying sides were herbed potatoes - tiny brown-skinned potatoes that were seasoned, baked and then smashed - excellent - and a petite green salad, lightly dressed; a crisp and bright accompaniment. My friend had a veggie omelet with goat cheese (it was huge - our waiter said it contains 4 eggs!) - and with the potatoes, salad and toast, she had a nice portion of food for another meal. Our server was very attentive and pleasant, and the restaurant itself was bright and cheerful with large windows and planters full of - what else - daisies! - to bring a happy and sunny feeling. A spot everyone should try at least once! This spot is fun for the foodies but also a great staple for those who want a classic meal. My favorite thing about Waking Daisy is that everything on my plate had a unique flavor profile and you can tell a lot of thought was gone into everything (even the green beans)! You know a restaurant is good when you try everything at the table and would order everything again. My only hangup is that the service was lacking. We asked for a side of ranch when our food came out and never got it and we had to go inside to ask for a box and the check because our table was forgotten about. Stopped by here during a road trip to Chicago. Our girls loved the little bendy toy they offered (a nice change from crayons and coloring pages). All the food was delicious but the thing I can't stop thinking about is the Daisy table pancake. I need this pancake in my life. It's thick, has a little tang from a slightly fermented dough, and is rich and dense in the best way. I'm pretty sure it's based on the very famous pancake from Golden Diner in NYC. I've been looking forward to trying Waking Daisy ever since it opened, so we decided to make an early Saturday morning reservation for a party of 5. The restaurant is very cute inside with a fun, welcoming atmosphere. We tried the table pancake after overhearing another server explain it to a nearby table, it was huge, yet surprisingly light, sweet, and delicious! Most of the meals in our group were very good. Unfortunately, my meal arrived missing the potatoes listed on the menu, and I never received the butter and jam offered with my toast. Our server seemed a bit inexperienced and didn't check back with us until we were almost finished, so it didn't feel worth bringing up at that point. We were also seated at a booth with a chair added to the end despite the restaurant not being very busy when we arrived. It was cramped with many dishes and glasses on our table. This place was so yum! I had the Mediterranean Harvest Bowl, which was a large portion size and very good. The breakfast potatoes and their classic daisy cakes are both a must have. The cakes were soft, fluffy, and melted, not to mention drenched in syrup. Parking can get a little chaotic when the Corners are busy, but it is only a short walk to the restaurant. 1st time here was for a Yelp event where we got to taste various menu items, and it was so good we came back with my daughter and son in law for brunch. Bright, clean and friendly. Food presentation and taste was amazing. My biscuits and gravy with eggs and potatoes were excellent. My sunny side up eggs were a little runny in the white around the yolk so I would go over easy next time. Others had avocado toast, pastrami sandwich and Korean breakfast bowl, and everyone was very pleased with their selections. I'd recommend getting with 4 or more people to split with. The maple butter sauce and lemon zest paired well. The Crispy Cod Sandwich was good. Came here a week earlier as part of a Yelp event. I liked it so much that I came back for breakfast and brought a friend. Food: They have an awesome menu with lots to choose from. I had fully intended to get the Norwegian Benedict, which I had sampled at the event, but the thought of having an entire Apple Pecan Daisy Cake to myself was just too hard to say no to. So that's what I ordered. Now I realize that might be more like dessert, but that's a whole other topic. The food came out in short order, and both my Daisy Cake and my friend's Classic Benedict were excellent. Good temperature, spot-on flavors, and generous portions. I had to get a box to take some home. I also ordered a Chai Latte, which they did an excellent job with. Lots of nice foam and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. Service: We had great service the entire time. We were seated right away, and the waters and menus followed quickly. The place wasn't crowded, so we felt like we could take our time, and that worked out well. Went for the first time this morning for a late breakfast. My first thought was the temperature of the restaurant. Due to the fact that the entrance is near where the tables are there is a lot of drafts in the front of the restaurant. We had to wait longer for a table because we did not want to be cold. When we sat down, the service started out good. The waitress was very attentive. As the meal went on, we were waiting on her to come to our table so we could ask for more creamer, more coffee, etc. The water brought to the table was also not cold. Maybe consider closing a smaller area around the front door? As for the food, three out of the four people had omelettes and they were extremely good! One of them was missing an ingredient ordered, but my friend chose not to say anything. The salad on the side could use a little bit more vinaigrette as it was a bit bland. I ordered the pastrami hash. The presentation was beautiful. The pastrami was a bit fatty, but overall the flavor was good. I think this restaurant has room to improve but simple fixes. read more

Waking Daisy is cute breakfast spot at the Corners in Brookfield that I'm happy to report checked all the boxes this chilly Saturday morning. Seated quickly and cheerfully greeted with a carafe of water, we started our meal with a small pot of Anodyne (my favorite) coffee. As we are avid coffee drinkers, I was concerned about the size of our pot of coffee but our server was quick to replace it with a fresh pot when we needed more. Our server was attentive and friendly from start to finish! I ordered my go to, classic Benedict, with pulled ham and a toasted English muffin. The petite greens were lightly dressed and a delicious side to the crispy potatoes and Benedict. The pulled ham wasn't as salty as I usually like but there was a generous amount of ham and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. I loved every bite of my breakfast! Had a great experience at Waking Daisy this morning. Open since July, they are running very smoothly. The servers are kind and attentive, making sure our table coffee pot was always never empty. This decor is super cute. The checkered green table tops are reminiscent of a neighborhood diner. Clean and bright, they've created an extremely pleasant environment to enjoy a breakfast or brunch. I had the Rita's Classic Combo with thick cut bacon. Eggs were perfectly over hard and the herb potatoes were a tasty addition to the plate. In my opinion, the only thing that needs improving is the cook of the bacon and the coffee pots on the table. I prefer my bacon crispier than how it was cooked and the coffee pots are far too small to have them on the table. They barely fill 2 cups on the table. These aren't enough to keep me away. I gave this restaurant an extra star because I liked the vibe inside. It's really cutesy. For the food. I tried the daisy cake and was excited to see what it would be like. I'm glad I tried it but I wasn't very fond of it. It was dense (not a problem) but the flavor was something I don't have to have again. For my meal I had the Korean breakfast bowl. The pork belly was flavorful but everything else fell a flat to me. Not much flavor unfortunately. I have a couple of girlfriends who love to go for brunch. Finding a new place that is as good as Waking Daisy is such a treat! I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes early and got to chat with Michael, who turned out to be the General Manager. He was a delight! So excited about the restaurant the menu! I found out that he is a chef and helped inspire the menu, and contributed recipes for several of the dishes. He also told me that Waking Daisy tries to source their ingredients locally, including their meats. The restaurant was bright and cheery and had comfortable tables and booths. They also have outdoor seating. Michael suggested that we try the Table Pancake, which is their Daisy Cake with Honey Maple Butter Sauce - oh my word! So delicious! We didn't finish it because we all wanted to enjoy our meals. I ordered the biscuits and gravy (because Michael suggested it and because I love biscuits and gravy). It was also delicious! And I would order it again! The eggs were cooked perfectly over easy and served atop nice, tender biscuits, then covered in gravy with pieces of locally sourced sausage. It was served with a salad that was lightly dressed with a citrusy dressing and great potatoes! One of my friends had the grilled cheese - and she's still talking about how great it was! It has homemade tomato jam, caramelized onions, goat cheese, and fontina grilled on sourdough bread. She chose the salad as her side and enjoyed it as well. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She made sure that we didn't feel rushed to leave after we were done. I also got to meet the bar manager (I wish I could remember his name), he was also excited to be a part of this new restaurant. He told me that the owners also own the Fresh Fin restaurant, which is located right next door to Waking Daisy, and it's also outstanding! Came here with a couple of friends early Sunday morning and were seated promptly with no reservation. The decor is cutesy. It's a floral/picnic theme. Really bright colors that provide a cheerful vibe. Our waitress, Arika Y, was attentive and helpful with recommendations. Onto the food. We ordered the table cake (6/10). Really fluffy and I liked the honey sauce but there was a sharp taste to the pancake that I personally didn't enjoy. My friends had the pastrami hash and chorizo has which they enjoyed. I had the Korean breakfast bowl (8.5/10). It was pretty good but could have had a bit more seasoning on the rice although the pork belly was incredibly tender. The decor and overall vibe are fun and relaxed. I tried the omelette this time - very good. A few tweaks would have made it awesome - a little seasoning (my friend who had the same agreed) and maybe chopping up those onions a little smaller so they cook a little more thoroughly and don't overwhelm. But it was tasty, the portion size was great, and the potatoes and greens on the side were a nice addition. Finally got to try waking daisy and it was all amazing! There is a huge parking lot outside so parking is not a problem. The restaurant had a nice vibe and perfect vibe for brunch and a good time. It was not busy at all from 7:30 - 9 on the Saturday we went. The food and drinks were served fast. But the food lacked a lot and when you are paying $20 for breakfast food you expect it to be better than what you can make at home. Hello All, i want to say this place is a cool, trendy place in Brookfield, WI. I was warned right from the start that it would be a little wait as they just opened 2 weeks ago and not quite prepared for how busy they were. I worked and was seated in the front window bar area. They wait was a little but not ridiculous. The server came and took my order and the order took 45 minutes. Holy slow. I do hope they get it fixed. The. My breakfast came it was really good. I do want to try more. But like i said! The wait i felt like I would not be back. But as my server laid my food down she said the owner is comping my meal. That tells me one thng! I had been seeing the coming soon signs up in this store front in the Corners of Brookfield for a while so I was eager to visit them on their first day for breakfast. Nice bright environment inside and they offer outdoor seating as well. Started with a Mimosa that was made well, didn't skimp on the champagne but not overly strong either. Coffee was good although the cup was very small and I was afraid I would need constant refills but my server also brought a carafe for me to refill as needed. A good variety of items in the menu made it difficult to pick an entree however I went with the Classic Benedict and I couldn't resist ordering something called a Daisy Cake as a side. The Benedict was a bit unique as the ham was shred (pulled) and it was piled on, the egg was perfectly cooked for a Benedict, and the Hollandaise had a nice light lemon flavor and an appropriate amount was layered on. My only suggestion would be to toast the English muffin a bit more as it needed a little more structure. The Daisy Cake was just outstanding. If I wasn't going to be able to finish eating everything, I was going to finish that cake. Think of a pancake on steroids that's a little more dense than a pancake with honey butter and maple sauce on top, it was amazing. I highly recommend stopping in and having a meal here. I'm trying the Pastrami Hash and another Daisy Cake on my next visit. They also give you the option of ordering online and paying your bill by scanning a QR code on the table. She didn't get a steak knife and my toast was too black to enjoy. Atmosphere seemed nice and the place had a good vibe but not sure I will be back.
