The Wicked Hop was our first stop when we got to Milwaukee. We wanted to go to the Market next door and wanted to sit and have a nice lunch after getting off the plane. We checked out the menu and decided we wanted to go here. I am very glad we did. There were some tables outside, but as Floridians, we never sit outside! They also had to rooms inside with 2 separate bars. The first thing I noticed as we were seated was the bar. It was so unique and the back drop was metal, colors and seemed to have been designed. It was so incredibly cool. Their menu was pretty large with sandwiches, appetizers, meals and such. They also had a special Fish Fry menu. We started with one of our favorite items we always order Cheesecurds. They were crispy, squeaky and so yummy! This is a classic Wisconsin dish and you must order them everywhere!!! We also got some cocktails. I went with my favorite, a Lemon Drop Martini. It was good, not the best one I have had but it was good. My mom went with one of the more popular dishes, a Bloody Mary. She asked for no spice but felt like it was very spicy. It was also so neat and came with a ton of things on top. It had a shrimp, beef stick, olives, cornichons and cheese whips. These were basically thin cheese sticks. For lunch we all order fish. My mom order the perch fish sandwich and I got the meal. The meal was way to much, the sandwich would have been enough. We also thought that our perch was fishy which was weird. We have had tons of perch in our lives and have never had a fishy piece of perch. It was either not lake perch or maybe old. We did not love it. My sister ordered the cod and it was so much better. We all kinda wished we had gone that route. Overall, this was a great spot. I can really see this place getting busy at nights and in the evening. We went for lunch on a Friday and it was packed. Lots of tables full outside and tons of Bloody Mary's. It was really great to try a local spot. It's right across from the market so if you are shopping there, this would be a great spot to go and have lunch. The service was amazing. Food is mid and the vibes are interesting. They were playing some older music for a bar type of atmosphere. We ordered the cheese curds, which are a Wisconsin stable, but a lot of them didn't have cheese in them and had exploded while being fried. The fried pickles were good but I got them with ranch. The pretzel bites were good with the cheese but needed more salt. The fettuccine was not good and I sent it back- it tasted like absolutely nothing. My mom got the turkey sandwich and liked that. I really enjoy this place in the Third Ward. They have a wide variety of menu items and none of them disappoint. I mostly come here for brunch and I love the salmon BLT, which is on their dinner menu. Their drink menu has something for everyone, with alcohol, mocktail, and THC options. At night they usually have a fun DJ for vibes but their day speakers always have great music. Service is relatively fast, but this place can get busy. read more

Our server was great but the food was just okay. Went for lunch while out running errands was super excited for something to eat finally and was a bit disappointed! The nachos while they looked huge really was just a pile of toppings, limited chips and what was giving nonfat cheese based on the way the chips pulled apart with only one layer of cheese. We had the cheese sauce on the side our choice which as a beer cheese sauce one of us liked it and the other didn't so probably better we did on the side. I wouldn't recommend these! Date of visit: October 19, 2025 I was meeting up with some friends from high school and they suggested meeting here for drinks and something a little more substantial. I readily agreed as I felt like I hadn't been to The Wicked Hop in about as long as it had been since I had caught up with these fellow Vincent High School graduates! I went with the Fonzarelli French Toast, though to be honest there wasn't really anything that made it Fonzie, or "Happy Days." It was your straightforward french toast with a side of bacon. Not saying it wasn't good, because it was, but the name kind of hyped me up unnecessarily. I did also need to get more syrup--the portion was very generous, but the maple syrup allotment was not. Service was good with the whole team pitching in to help run food, and the little bit of appetizers I had (I Dream of Doughnuts and the cheese curds) were both good as well, so you really can't go wrong with either of those, either! read more

Despite living in Milwaukee for 19 of my 23 years, I've somehow never gone here. Sadly, with all the hype around it, I found my entree to be just okay. I had one of their breakfast burritos which is my usual go-to brunch item, and felt it was pretty simple tasting despite the ingredients. That is not to say it was bad though, as I enjoyed my mimosa and the cheese curds my table ordered as an appetizer. The side of Sunday spuds was also very good. Half of my group ordered differing variations of the Rose Bowl which they gave rave reviews, so I think I'd try that next time. For a table of six, with each of us ordering a drink and entree, the bill was about $180 before tip which I was pleasantly surprised by! All of their outdoor patio seating is covered by a canopy so you don't have to worry about getting stuck in the sun if that's something you don't like. Great location! It's right on a bustling corner in the city's Historic Third Ward district. Right across the street from the Milwaukee Public Market. I got a caesar salad with chicken in a wrap. It was pretty good. The kinda food you get from a good bar and grill. Fries were great! Our server was friendly and I very much enjoyed the lively atmosphere sitting outside by the street. I was headed to a show at the Skylight Music Theater and wanted to grab some dinner prior. There's quite a few eateries on Broadway within walking distance of the theater and The Wicked Hop is one of them. I had never been here so decided to give it a try. Because the show was on Saturday evening, I made reservations and was thankfully able to be seated straight away. The theater is about a five minute walk from The Wicked Hop and after doing some research online and seeing that they mostly specialize in pub fare, I figured giving myself and my dining companion 1.5 hours to dine and then make it to the theater would be plenty of time (and we actually even arrived at the restaurant a few minutes early to be certain). They were busy but not overly so (empty tables, etc) but the service was super laggy. We waited over ten minutes just for our beverages (which were just a soda and a cold brew) and then when she came to deliver them, she forgot the cold brew. I ordered the grilled cheese which comes served with tomato soup and she also forgot that. Soda and waters were never refilled, etc. In the end everything was taking so long when she came to pick up the check, I had to mention that we were in a bit of a rush which thankfully was the one and only time she didn't disappear for 15+ minutes at a time. Turns out, 1.5 hours was almost not enough time. So something to note if you're on a schedule. From a service perspective, it was pretty frustrating. The food itself was good though! As I mentioned, I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup with a caesar salad on the side. The grilled cheese dipped in their chunky tomato basil soup was delicious. The salad was crisp and fresh and presented well with an edible flower on the top. The food was a solid 4 stars. The service was 1-2 stars. So, three stars it is. read more

I'm not sure what happened this night, but we were charged extra for everything we didn't order. We came on a Tuesday around 5pm for their happy hour deals. It initially wasn't terribly busy at that time, but then around 5:45 or so, it started to pick up. We initially ordered 2 drinks off the happy hour menu, an old-fashioned sweet and a daiquiri. After the drinks came out, we ordered tenders and the cheese curds with marinara (cause we don't eat ranch). The wait was probably like 20-25 minutes for the food. The service was a bit slow, but we didn't mind as we did see a lot of people come through. However, our only problem was that when we got the tab, our appetizers were full-priced, we were charged extra for ranch, and our old-fashioned had an upcharge for whiskey. I'm not sure what happened there. We are more than happy to order food as-is with no substitutions, given that it's discounted for the happy hour deal. I'm not expecting 5-star service or food, but all of these little charges were unexpected. They did change our food prices to reflect the happy hour pricing, but left everything else the same. read more

I'm not a huge fan of the food at The Wicked Hop but I love the location and the outdoor seating- right in the heart of the Third Ward and across the street from the famous Milwaukee Public Market. In my opinion, this is a fun spot to stop for a drink with friends but it doesn't have the best tasting food. For the most part, it's typical bar food. Quesadillas, cheese curds, wings, tacos, grilled cheese, burger, some salad options. It's also noisy inside the restaurant. I've had a black bean burger and fries from there. Horrible service on a Saturday afternoon. When we walked in they prefaced our seating with they are only serving apps for the moment. They sat us down and we probably waited a good 15 minutes before a server came over. In the meantime we asked and they said they would be there shortly. We only ordered drinks and cheese curds. She had this a couple weeks back and has raved about it since. Olives, a shrimp, no celery, but yes to cheese. You read that right - there are several strands of cheese in this beverage. She had this down before the appetizer came. Beer chaser. $12 I ordered from the weekend brunch menu, starting with the donuts for sharing. They were fried hot with the tiniest amount of powdered sugar, neglible as it added no sweetness. The chocolate sauce is Nutella and was served room temp. The raspberry coulis was a better dipper. $10 for not more than 10 donut holes. My entree was the West Coast breakfast which was avocado toast. The bread was not actually toasted. Just cold bread. I neither saw pepper nor picked up any flavor and only one bite seemed to have basil. The halved cherry tomatoes totalled about eight tomatoes. The avo spread had no flavor. Salt? Lime? Just plain and not enough anywhere to sink one's teeth into for a creamy bite. $11. Friend had burger and it was just so so overall. She was there for the drink. Service could not have been more disinterested. Slow to clear the old plates and we were seated at a small two top high top so space was limited. All in all, not a place I would return to. Just moved to milwaukee last month & I've been coming to the wicked hop as it's my local bar by my apartment. Food is great, best burger I've had since coming from California. Last weekend my friends & I came for dinner. Service was good & food came out fairly quickly for how busy they were. However our server creeped us out a bit. Unfortunately, The Wicked Hop left us less than impressed. I will say they were fairly accommodating with our large group/reservation. It could see it being a good place for a beer/app to watch a game but that's about all. The food here was genuinely so bad, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The chickens wings were still pink on the inside and tasted gamey, honestly the worst chicken wings i've had in Milwaukee. I asked them to cook longer and they came back no different. The burger was ok but you could do better just about anywhere else in the city. Seriously go anywhere else in the area or get fast food.
