Food was decent and well presented. Prices were decent. Ordered a side salad for before my meal but it came with my meal instead so I took it home. My chicken dish had too much going on with all the different flavors. Service was attentive and kind. Interesting ambiance with bicycles hanging from the railing on the second floor opening where you can see down to the first. Restaurant was clean.

I was reluctant to go to this restaurant because most of its dishes have diary ingredients that I have an intolerance to but finally tried it because few places are open for brunch during the holidays. The place was packed, but our server was quite attentive and did not let us wait for an unreasonable amount of time. One of us ordered cappuccino, which I drank a little and found to be too sour for my taste. We ordered Salmon Smorrebrod and Asian Beef Bowl. The Salmon Smorrebrod was quite tasty; I unfortunately could not eat much because it contained cheese/cream. The Asian Beef Bowl had good flavors but was too salty for me. Another commendable attribute of the dishes is that they each have a reasonable amount of raw or cooked vegetables. I suppose that I can try other dishes in the future, just asking the chef not to add any cheese or cream, although that may adversely affect the flavors. Overall, my experience at the restaurant was better than expected.

Years ago, I was seeing a person up in Milwaukee and we often went to Cafe Hollander. It was good then (I remember a delicious brunch) and I'd say even better now! I'd love to come back in the summer to experience the Biergarten. It does not disappoint even during a Milwaukee winter day; the heated tents in the Biergarten looked delightful, but all of them were full, so we opted for a booth inside. The decor is quirky and welcoming - lots of bicycles about the place! Our server, Jake, was super excellent. He was able to answer questions about menu items and the extensive beverage menu. Also, super nice person! The menu is really interesting and full of options depending on how much you'd like to eat and dietary restrictions or preference. We didn't have the kids along this time, but I am pleased to see a decent number of options on the reasonably-priced kids menu that all come with fresh fruit & veggies. From the 6 types on offer, we started with Bloody Maries; I got the Lux Bloody, which includes herbes de Provence infused vodka and my fiancée got The Milwaukeean. Both are multi-layered and a real treat. To accompany our drinks, we ordered the cheese curds and they were excellent. For the main, I chose the falafel bowl with shrimp and it was DELICIOUS. I could not eat the whole thing and have a nice leftover for lunch. My fiancée had the Luxemburger and it was perfectly cooked and super tasty. We will be back! There's also a fantastic bookstore a block away to add to an afternoon out.

They took special care to set up a spot at the bar for our anniversary. This was the location of our first date, and 13 years later the managers at Hollander made sure we were sitting in the exact same seats we were in when we met. Plus they greeted us with sparkling rose and a cone of frites! The little things make this place special - they understand what hospitality means.

We reserved an igloo/globe to celebrate a friend's birthday, and our experience was wonderful! Renting it was simple (you just book it online) and then you get a text to confirm your booking on the day of - our time was incorrect but once I called, it was resolved. Our server was very friendly but we wish we could've been checked in on a bit more frequently. Water glasses sat empty for a while and we would've liked to order a few more drinks. I ordered the crispy chicken bowl, which was delicious and filling. The igloo/globe itself was warm and it was nice to dine out and have privacy while catching up with friends. Overall, I do recommend you book this for a unique dining experience!

Good stop for lunch on downer. The margarita was a little sweet from the syrup but refreshing. We ordered the crispy chicken bowl which was great and fresh. I got the club which was good but I would have done a spicy ranch other than the Thai chili sauce. Service was pretty slow because there were 2 large parties near us at the same time so the waitstaff was a bit overwhelmed. We'll try again another time when it's less busy but it's a good spot for a casual lunch or dinner

I dined in a globe so this review reflects that experience. The globe was warm and beautiful as it was snowing that evening. Our server was very friendly and our food was brought out quickly. I ordered the Sconnie burger with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. They also have my favorite beer the Lowlander Oranje. Overall I had a great experience!

    - Good food, good ambiance, great service - Reservation was made and I would recommend making one - Yes we would love to come back A nice tasty dinner to end the day with pook! We sat upstairs and the floating bikes and hanging pictures were quite fun. The food was tasty and service was awesome... couldn't ask for anything else! We shared the Curry Chicken Satay, and it was a yummy start to our meal. I asked our server for any appetizer recs, and she didn't say the satay, but it was calling my name so I ignored her other recs and got the satay. The five skewers were nice and tender and not dry - which was surprising because I usually get served dry satay skewers when I order them elsewhere - and they were served with a spicy harissa sauce and a peanut sauce. The chicken was tasty on its own, but the sauces really added another layer of flavor. The peanut was my favorite, but it tasted mega good when adding both sauces on the chicken. Very tasty start to the meal!! I was not feeling too crazy hungry and never order mussels and frites, and I thought it would be nice and light, so I ordered the Classic Mussels with Frites Basket. The mussels were served in a big bowl with a white wine soup(?) and a toasted baguette that was cut up. The mussels were tasty on their own, but tasted really good when served on a baguette slice and dipped in the white wine soup. It was like I was making my own lil hors d'oeurves or fancy lunchables or whatever... but I do know it was fun and tasty! Pook got a nice 1/2 Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup combo - I thought it would not be filling, but she was quite satiated! The sandwich had a nice crunch and a bit of a cheese pull, but nothing too crazy. The bread was also really nice because it was garlic-bread-ified, and I thought that made it very delicious and flavorful. The soup wasn't lacking behind either! It had a nice amount of acidity and nice and creamy. On their own delicious, but together, even more mega delicious!! I would love to meet whoever invented the powerful, and thank them, as well as show them the perfected version at Café Hollander. While the food was delicious, the service amazing as well! Our server was very silly and fun and provided great service to us. They had great energy and were very funny throughout the night. Going back to the food, they also had really good ratios, with there being nearly a 1:1 ratio between mussels:bread and grilled cheese:soup... almost mathematically perfect. Great experience and I can't wait to visit again!

Great server, great food, great atmosphere. Went here for lunch during the week. This is one of those places that whatever you get is gonna be good. We got the whipped feta dip as an appetizer and it was one of the most delectable flavors to ever come across my palate

Café Hollander is one of our favorite spots to patio dine in the warm months, especially since we can bring our dog :) We love the outside space, and service has always been very good. The Spicy Badger Bloody Mary is by far my favorite cocktail, especially since it comes with a beer chaser! My husband opted for the Naked Burger, because beauty is in the simplicity. I however decided to try the whipped feta, and it was amazing! The feta was silky and rich, the veggies fresh and crisp, and the falafel crispy on the outside and packed with flavorful spices inside. This location is an awesome place to add to your summer dining rotation.

    - delicious food, good service, cozy ambiance - no…read morereservation can be made for brunch - excited to come back for a sweet option Happy to get a seat at this tasty diner! With their rotating menu items and weekly specials, I am definitely coming back after having such a flavorful and fun meal. Waited about an hour on a busy Saturday since one of their locations was closed, but the food was well worth it! I had gotten Wolfie's Patty Melt and it was filling and a great start to our morning. The bread was nice and crisp from the buttered griddle and held everything together perfectly. Inside the crunchy sandwich were 2 seasoned patties and enough gooey cheese to make it rich, but not heavy. To contrast the fatty flavor, there was a slightly tart bacon jam and onions that were truly caramelized. Overall really tasty sandwich with no notes! In the description it says there is a sauce, but I could only taste the onions and jam, so I'm not too sure what it added. The side of fries was ok, but I think some crispy thinner ones would have been better with the sandwich. For my drink, I got a hot Ube Chai. The chai was strong and had a spicy kick to each sip. Already a subtle flavor, the ube was not very strong with the chai mixed in, but still added fun color. The design on top was also very cute and added another dink of sweetness. My girlfriend got the Spamelette for her main and it was pretty pretty and delish. Not too often that you see Spam, but when you see it, trust it earned its spot on a menu! The big chunks of Spam and accouterments gave each bite a pleasant feel and one full of flavor. I was skeptic of the mushrooms at first, but they were seasoned well and added another kind of texture to the meal. I think my favorite toppings were the drizzle of kewpie and the green onions... not sure if it counts as a topping, but the tamari glaze of the spam made it delish. Taste aside, it was also a pretty meal! Pook got a Hot Chocolate for her drink. Nice simple drink for the cold weather. We would have liked to see some more chocolatey flavor, but still a good milky drink for the meal. This drink also had a fun design and nice cream top, yum yum yum. This was such a tasty meal and they have lots of other options that I was debating on getting - I guess we gotta come back! It was a really cold day, but the cozy atmosphere and hot drinks with our food made it a great experience. We had originally planned on going to the Downtown location, but it was closed because of heating problems. I wish there was a bit more uniformity between their menus, especially since the Brewers Hill menu has different items and is smaller, so it feels like there is quite the difference between locations. Going off of that point, I am excited to try their dinner menu when it releases and see how it compares to when we ate Downtown! I am not sure how the places differ, but I felt the food here to be more flavorful than the other location. In addition to the dining area, they had a small shop and coffee area in the back while you waited for your table. It was fun and made time pass faster, but I feel as though that area is also perfect for dining. Maybe there are specific reasons why it isn't, but just a thought. Hope to come back soon!

Perfectly cooked medium rare steak with chimichurri, crispy-runny eggs, and excellent potatoes holding it all together. The food is thoughtfully plated without trying too hard, and the prices feel fair for the quality. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been. Another lil Milwaukee gem!

It's in a great location right off the highway by the Public Market. I was greeted immediately by the bartender and a server very quickly came to seat me and supplied me with menus and water while I waited for my friend. He came back immediately when she got there to greet us and see if we needed anything right away. We ordered margaritas and a few appetizers. Shortly after, we ordered dinners. We had biscuits and fried green tomatoes, and we each ordered a different type of spicy chicken sandwich. We both really liked our food. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was really good and the biscuits were soo good!! The fried green tomatoes were just so-so, but I don't have much to compare it to. Our margaritas were very tasty. The server was fantastic. He was very friendly and attentive, but not over the top. He asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert. We did get another round of drinks. And he refilled our waters, which I appreciated. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to friends and will be returning! Thanks for a great experience!

We ordered a skillet, burrito, and harvest hash. Everything was great and came out quickly! What the restaurant is lacking is in overall aesthetic and cleanliness. We really wanted to Brunch It Up...we love a good brunch place...so much. We left wishing we'd gone…read moresomewhere else. Brunch It Up (possibly in the middle of rebranding to just "Brunch.") is a classic breakfast spot in downtown Milwaukee...we were there on a Sunday morning...high brunch time, and were seated quickly upstairs. The place had an overall run-down vibe to it...scuffed paint on the walls and a general feeling of not quite matching the quality of the upscale brunch spot implied by their modern logo. Menus...I normally don't comment on the menu itself but our table featured no less than 4 different menus...the regular menu, a drink menu, a specials menu and a mimosas menu...choices are wonderful, but the immediate reaction is this is a whole mess of menus on the table, and I don't know what to look at first. It felt haphazard. Let's move on to the coffee...Coffee is an essential part of the brunch experience. Even at a diner, you want it to be strong...the mug it came in was nice, but it was weak coffee. I need coffee to kick my butt, and if you're serving what's close to "browned water" at a breakfast place, you're missing the mark. How about the food? I can't fault them for the generosity of the portions, but will say individual dishes were way too much for my wife and I...we wish smaller portions were available, so so much didn't go to waste. My wife had the Egg and Waffle sandwich with waffle fries. It was fine. I had the Harvest Hash made with egg whites...the eggs were a little overcooked. (Egg whites require a thoughtful touch when cooking them so they are finished white and not browning all over.) There are plenty of fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, and peppers in there (I guess that's the extent of the harvest in Milwaukee) The hashbrowns it all sat on were undercooked. We were excited about the croissant beignets...Available were the regular ones with chocolate or strawberry dipping sauce, and a special with a fruit dipping sauce. They couldn't mix and match sauces, so we got the special. They were okay but a bit over-fried, losing the croissant texture altogether ...I mean, there's nothing wrong with deep-fried dough with sweet things to dip them in, but we do wish they hadn't fried the croissant out of them to give us the unique experience implied by the name. The menu has plenty to choose from...every breakfast savory or sweet thing you could imagine...and on the nicely designed, modern-looking menu at looks like it could be amazing...but everything we got, plus the experience of sitting in a place that felt a little rundown, left us overall disappointed.

I chose the daily browns... aka, loaded hash browns and added a couple eggs. Every flavor worked. The best hash I've ever had. My gripe is too much good stuff to choose.... So I'll be back.

Did you know that Blue's Egg serves a fish fry on Fridays during Lent? Until last week I didn't…read moreknow that either. Their website has a popup on the home page saying it comes with fried haddock, potato pancakes, applesauce, and rye bread, but the popup doesn't list the price and it isn't available through the online ordering function. I ended up calling in an order to go, substituting wheat bread for the rye, and also added a piece of lemon ginger coffee cake. The lemon ginger coffee cake tasted fine, but man was it dry. Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

Consistently busy over the years and for good reason. I've been here a few times and I've never been disappointed with the service or the food. It's a dark, cozy little restaurant bar but with so much character and history. Service is friendly and efficient. I love that the food I've ordered here has always exceeded my expectations with the seasonings and quality of ingredients used. Reasonably priced too! If you don't have a reservation, you may end up waiting for a table in the back area at a high top but it's a great opportunity to enjoy one of their great drinks in the meantime!

We quite literally came here straight from the airport. To make matters worse, we had not eaten anything substantial all day and had actually looked this restaurant up weeks before our trip while researching places to eat the infamous Wisconsin fish fry, so we were really looking forward to the experience. The experience started off poorly when our party was essentially scolded by the hostess for sitting at a table that apparently needed to be cleaned for the wait list. To make matters worse, the busser laughed and joked that we were "in trouble," to which I could only respond, "Sounds like it." Not exactly the welcoming atmosphere you'd hope for as a first time visitor. The fish fry was decent our tab came out to $150 for 5 people, but the service was absolutely subpar and our tip reflected that. We also had to send back two drink glasses because they were dirty one still had lipstick on it, and another had food stuck to the inside of the glass. Overall, this was a very disappointing dining experience. Between the unprofessional treatment, lackluster service, and cleanliness issues, I would not recommend stopping here. There are plenty of other restaurants worth trying instead.
