Met a friend for dinner. Food: I really like the food and drink menu at Café Hollander. They offer a broad selection of beers and other beverages. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but whenever I come here, I always order the Stiegl Grapefruit Radler. It goes down easy and has none of the bitterness that many beers have. For dinner, I ordered the Chopped Salad with added chicken. It arrived looking fresh and was a generous portion. I ended up taking half of it home for another meal. Service: We received terrific service throughout the evening. Our server, Grace, did a great job getting us settled in. Waters arrived right away, followed shortly by our drinks and food. Everything was efficient, but we never felt rushed. She was friendly, attentive, and took the time to have a little conversation with us, making the experience feel more personal. Thanks, Grace! Atmosphere: It was a beautiful evening. Since it was just a little cool outside, we chose a table indoors near one of the open doorways, which let in plenty of fresh air. Packed with crispy broccoli, a quinoa garden medley, avo, panko chicken, and sriracha mayo, this meal had great flavor and had me leaving very statiated. This was a disappointing stop. Very loud and difficult to hear those at our table. We waited quite a bit for our food to arrive and when it did, it was apparent that it was sitting under a warming light for a while. Fries were soggy and the burger's bun was warmer than the meat... not to mention the fish was fried in dirty oil. The waitress didn't offer coasters or napkins - we obtained our own by walking to the bar - and we had to waive her down for drink refills while we waited for our food. They were not busy. Stopped in to warm up a bit with a nice Chimay Blue and The Hot Mess. Did I get an Old Fashioned as well? Yes, I had to wash it down with something since the Chimay was pre-meal. The Chimay was great to take down while we were talking and waiting for the food to arrive. We had Emily for our server, and she was very helpful. I was looking for something to eat that was omelette-like in nature, and she recommended The Hot Mess. It was really delicious, and I loved the different flavors it had; I never got tired of eating it and felt like I could have gotten another plate! I was a fan of the decor, though the parking lot was a bit of a challenge to navigate. For the time we were there, it was all pretty quiet. We had a great experience at Cafe Hollander in Mequon for brunch! It has a similar vibe to the one in Third Ward, but has floor to ceiling windows making is much brighter and inviting. I've been to this location a couple of times for work lunches so we bring in a good size group. All of the Hollander Cafes are mostly the same to me, they have a good selection of menu items for all types of eaters. The server we had recently was upbeat and friendly and made a point of checking in with us just the right amount of times. We shared the cheese curds (could be better) and the pretzel bites (just okay) and I had the salmon entree as I usually do. Excellent as always! My coworkers enjoyed their meals as well and the food didn't take too long to come out for 7 of us. There is a shared parking lot and if that's full, head down to the overflow area. read more

Awesome veggie burger. I went here for a business lunch this week and had their red beet veggie burger and it was so awesome. One of the best veggie burgers I've had. It comes with a double beets pattie, cheese, and all the toppings. I might have added something spicy, like jalepenos. Also a bit more crisp in the patties would have made this sandwich galactic level, but all things considered - it was outstanding. The place is pretty big and the service was also good. Fun lunch at Cafe Hollander in Mequon in a dome It was 10 of us in a dome which was very comfortable. There are two heaters in the dome, and you can open vents to cool the space if it gets too warm. Terrible experience. Cali S was the young lady who greeted us when we walked in and also happened to be our server. We were greeted with attitude and rudeness. It was as if we were a burden. Took 20 min to get 2 sodas and 2 drinks and proceeded to mess up the drinks when they finally came with zero apology. Disappointed with the service, greeting and overall experience. On Mother's Day, I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I was waiting as a single immigrant mother while the hosts repeatedly seated white men who arrived around the same time or after me. Even after my table was supposedly ready (got the text), I continued to be ignored with no explanation or communication from the staff- I did ask and showed the text to the hostess. One of my favorite summer activities is to dine al Fresca. We don't have a long window to do this in Wisconsin, so I definitely take advantage of the restaurants offering outdoor dining. I have been here several times for brunch. My order is pretty simple - the Americana - eggs, potatoes, toast, bacon. My partner always seems to go for omelettes which he loves. The food is consistently good. The service is always spot on - friendly and fast. Also, I love that the outside dining is pet friendly. My pup loves to brunch with us! We will definitely be back! We came with a large group + three babies and the service didn't even bat an eye -- they were well-equipped for a party our size which was great, because dining out with little kiddos can be nerve racking. Word on the street is Cafe Hollander has killer bloody marys -- can confirm, it's true! I went with the southsider which is made with peppercorn infused vodka and jalapeno stuffed pepper to give it a little kick. It was the perfect amount of spice, only thing it was missing was a salted rim! All the food was great too. My favorite had to be the cinnamon streusel french toast. It's a must!! We got it for the table to share but honestly I could have eaten it all myself. I also ordered the chorizo breakfast sliders. I've been to Cafe Hollander many times since they opened. It is almost always a solid choice for food in the area. Most recently we rented the large igloo while family from out of town was visiting. Located in Thiensville with plenty of parking the restaurant is easy to get to. Inside there are two nicely decorated floors with plenty of doors/windows that open weather permitting. The service is great and the waitress actually asked us what types of drinks we would like while getting seated. This visit was for breakfast and the menu includes a variety of different bloody Mary's and mimosas to get the day started. Now for the fun part the menu, while your usual breakfast is probably available there are a number of unique dishes that just beg you to try. After much indecision my wife went with French toast, scrambled eggs and fried chicken that was incredible. I chose the Hot Mess which was a bed of hash browns, sausage, cheese and an egg over the top along with a delightful sauce and yes, I was able to finish it. I got a gluten free menu and decided to order the meatloaf. There are no mentions of mushrooms in the food description, and when the meatloaf came out, it was topped with a pile of mushrooms. I told the waitress I can't do that due to a food allergy. After waiting 10 or so minutes, what I presumed was a new plate came to the table. However, I'm pretty sure that they just scraped the mushrooms off and nuked the meatloaf before bringing it out - the edges were really dry on the meatloaf. Within 30 minutes of finishing my meal, I started wheezing and feeling unwell, and I had to take antihistamines and an asthma inhaler to stop it. This restaurant does not take food allergies seriously and can hurt someone. Luckily, I didn't require a visit to the ER to stop the reaction. read more

Nice, open airy space with lots of wood and industrial touches. Good menu with lots of options. I did the Brew City Benedict but subbed ham for the sausage. They were okay, not great. My biscuits were a bit chewy and the ham was lost. I get it, it was my choice to make the substitution because I don't really like sausage all that much. I'd come back to try some other items that looked really good. The Olliebollen were amazing and the dark chocolate sauce dipper was a perfect balance to the sugary sweet balls. The home fries were nice but as with a lot of restaurants, I feel like they give you a ton to hide other flaws in the dish. I had the Roxanne's Red Light which could easily become my favorite alcoholic beverage in the area (RIP 42 Lounge's Harley Quinn's Ace) and the The Milwaukeean bloody mary which was delightfully spicy. I try to avoid eating too many potatoes, but the breakfast potatoes were too good to pass up. My husband really enjoyed his "Hot Mess" skillet-type breakfast. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays and, with all the windows, was bright and cheery, if a little cold. My chai latte warmed me up nicely. This is a regular stop for us and we usually get good service here, but this time our service was delivered without a smile or kind word and we had to intercept our server to request coffee and water refills. The only problem with Mequon's Hollander is finding the driveway entrance. If a friend had not already been there we would have driven past it. Having said that the drinks were fine and the whipped feta platter was fantastic. Best I have had. Hubby had a burger cooked exactly to his specs. Servers were also the best. We've been going to Cafe Hollander for years and love that Mequon has a location now that we've moved to the North Shore. The decor is rustic and cozy with really no bad spot to sit. It's a reliable establishment with tasty traditional brunch options, great beer and bloodies (The Milwaukean is our favorite!) and the staff is always friendly and efficient. Parking can sometimes be tough at this location with all of the other businesses surrounding it, but they do have an overflow lot that's a short walk. read more
