From visit on: 2/8/26 - late review! My date and I were so excited to try the Eggs Benedict flight. We had reservations for Sunday at 11. Our server was very kind, great atmosphere in the place as well. We ordered a side of the potatoes and they came out nice and hot. Unfortunately, both of our Eggs Benedict flights were lukewarm at best, from the first bite. My date made a comment to the server and she offered to reheat. We initially declined but within a minute changed our mind. Our server was understanding and quickly brought over an extra flight (which I saw her bring from the heating lamps). This plate was also the same temperature. I really don't like to leave neutral or negative reviews, but it's unfortunate to spend money and have a less than par experience on the food we were looking forward to eating. We did take a small box to go and the crab cake heated up later was very delicious, but just not the same as if we had been given a hot meal to start at the restaurant. This is hands-down my favorite spot in the city for an espresso martini. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite match the same energy this time. I came in for the lobster roll special and was disappointed to find it dry and overcooked. The lobster itself lacked flavor, sadly the fries totally stole the show. Our party of five stopped by for dinner a few weeks ago and the Bridgewater is all people are saying it is - good food, great drinks, modern, and on the water. We were first time customers and loved the atmosphere. Reminds me of places on the water in Boston with a nice indoor outdoor option. I was a little on the not super hungry side, so I ordered the Gnocchi, which was good. Next time I'll not eat lunch and go for a bigger dish. Our party of five liked their dishes, the Branzino looked perfectly done, but no one was wowed by their dinner compared to the price point. My son lives in the building above The Bridgewater and we've talked about going many times when visiting him when we come to Milwaukee. We went on a recent visit and were very pleasantly surprised with how absolutely fantastic the food, service, and ambiance was. Situated on the river in a great, modern mixed-use development The Bridgewater is a great spot for work dinners, date night, or a special occasion. Our dinner was excellent. We started with the local sourdough with ash butter and sea salt and the artichoke dip. Both were excellent. My son and I each got a caesar salad--easily one of the best caesar salads I've ever had. I dream about that caesar now and can't wait to go back and get it again. For our mains, we had the grass-fed ribeye, the scallops with corn grits and rapini, the market fish, and rotisserie chicken. Everyone said their mains were great. Cocktails were also excellent, from the "spiked" horchata to the Smoke and Sage with tequila and mezcal. Can't wait to get back to visit my son in Milwaukee soon so we can "head downstairs" to The Bridgewater again! read more

My friend and I visited Bridgewater to celebrate our recent birthdays. She made the reservation and told them the occasion. We were gratified that they acknowledged it when we checked in - so many places ask, but they never recognize the event you're celebrating. They even had the staff sign a card for us, which is a cute touch, if hard to share among two people. We ordered cocktails and appetizers and told our server we might order more if we felt we needed it. As it was, three appetizers turned out to be almost enough food for us. We tried the shishito pepper appetizer special of the day. They were roasted and served on a hummus base. I wasn't mad at it, but some bread or something would have made it a more complete dish. My friend would have preferred the peppers to be de-seeded. We had the brie. I found it to be good, but not great. It was a small brie wheel for the price and not completely melted, and again, more crostini would have been great. I do get irritated by the lack of breads/chips/etc. that restaurants provide these days to go with dip-type foods. It's not the expensive part of the dish and to be tight with that part seems a bit stingy. It's certainly been since the pandemic and it's a practical solution to some food waste issues, but then please, check back to see if diners need more. We also ordered the tuna tartare. It had very good flavor and I liked the six crispy wonton pieces we were allocated, but the tuna pieces were pretty chunky. One would have expected either thin slices or a finer chop, but that didn't impede our enjoyment of the dish. It was just a little rougher than you'd expect in fine dining. And we needed more wonton bits. We ordered a dessert to fill up just a bit more - the brown butter cake. It was lovely. It wasn't overly sweet. The cherry distribution was very good and not excessive. We liked it a lot. My fried ordered extra creme fraiche, which was an excellent move. They also brought us a complementary flourless chocolate cake slice with two candles, which was an excellent companion dessert. I cannot speak to the view since it was dark and snowy and we couldn't see anything outside. Our server was great and did not express any irritation at all when we didn't order entrees on a Friday night. I'm glad I tried it. I'm not sure I need to go back. The atmosphere was beautiful! Being right on the river and the fact that the restaurant has giant garage doors that open so you can enjoy the outside no matter where you sit is great! Love the espresso martini! My ribeye could've used a sauce or a butter as it was a little dry from the grill mark char but meat was tender. Let me start out by saying I didn't know when we went but I know now they use Creekstone Farms for their Beef IYKYK! So I can't wait to go back and try it out! But dinner last night was really good, probably the best branzino I've ever had, perfectly cooked, filled with flavor, no bones, fantastic! We started with the brûléed brie--I loved the hot honey drizzled on top (anything a little spicy I'm always in!). I ordered an espresso martini, because it's one of my favorite drinks anddd because it's listed on their cocktail menu which means you know they make a good one. And good it was indeed. For apps we got the tuna tartare, and like I said, still thinking about it! So flavorful and loved the added pickles veg and chilis. Plus wasabi aioli for the win. Oh and the crispy wontons that seemed house made. We have the burleed brie as well, which was also chefs kiss. I mean what's not to love about melty brie cheese with hot honey!? We split the short rib and capellette dishes for entrees. The meat was cooked to perfection and I enjoyed the brussels and fancy glaze. Wasn't as big of a fan of the capellette, which was a stuffed pasta dish. It had ricotta and parm cream that I thought to be a little heavy/overwhelming. My husband agreed. Was in town for a visit and tried this place out. 10/10 from service, atmosphere, food and everything in between. So, I actually dined solo. My waitress was very attentive, personable, helpful and funny. They had a live band playing during my visit and they were AMAZING. The environment was packed and lively but not anxiety inducing. The energy was actually very peaceful and inviting. My food was quality. The steak frites were cooked to perfection with a nice charcoal flavor to my steak. Frites were seasoned beautifully. For my appetizer, I ordered the crab cake with arugula. CHEF KISS THATS IT. My mimosa sprits was sweet, fresh and strong. I ordered the butter cake and it was rich and delightful. Is there anything to complain about at Bridgewater? Absolutely not. I've dined here several times now and the service is absolutely STELLAR. The wait staff is always friendly and prompt. The food here is top tier, if you're looking for a lobster roll, this is the place to try. Fresh lobster on a buttery flakey Texas toast served with heavily seasoned fries that are fantastic! I would also strongly recommend the Mac and chive side, the bang for you buck is absurd! This Mac and cheese tastes like a $30+ pasta at a high end Italian restaurant. The space is wonderful, right on the water by the bridge (get it?!) with a modern, glass-enclosed space that they've made warm and cozy. How's the food, you ask? Throw a dart and be delighted. The short rib was a treat (too often places can make them too rich and overwhelming, but not here), and the scallops were what you'd call 'incredible.' We began with the mussels which were plentiful in a fantastic broth (note: ask for extra bread early, as there is sopping to be done!). We had a larger group and everyone who got true breakfast food gave a mild 'its okay.' The seasoning just seems to be underdone. Others who got the bridgewater breakfast said the eggs had almost no seasoning and the toast was barely toasted. The maple bacon however was really good! The artichoke dip and wagyu burger were hits as well. They also have no gluten free bread or bun options which was a bummer. We also had made a reservation and put in notes noting we needed a table for two highchairs and the hostess sat us at a large booth and then kind of just stared at us when we said something which was odd. My little one loved sitting at the booths that are near the chefs who cook. The food was spectacular. I love the variety, there's is literally something for everyone. We started with the tuna tartar-- SO good. The wonton chips were perfectly crisp, too. Next, we tried the Brie appetizer, which was good! Probably wouldn't get it again, though. We also tried the crab cake, which was phenomenal. Full of crab! For the entrees, we got the hanger steak-- perfectly cooked medium rare with the best flavor. Scallops-- THESE WERE AMAZING!!!! Went here on a Saturday morning for brunch. The outdoor seating is right on the water. The ambiance was very nice, especially with the chill live music. For appetizers, we got the brûléed Brie and maple bacon, both of which were 10/10 amazing. The bacon was thick, crispy, and very flavorful. I'm very picky about my bacon and yet it was delicious. For the main course, I got the gnocchi with leek and mushroom. I did not end up liking the dish really at all. The gnocchi itself was very mushy, and not any sort of noodle at all. I didn't take off any stars though because when I sent it back, the waitress promptly took it off the bill. The lobster roll was quite humorous, $32 for a hot dog bun filled with a very dry, bland tasting lobster salad. I know shell pieces can happen with a lobster roll, but every bite... Can't remember one like that anywhere else. The ribeye was cooked properly and tasted good, however the smashed fingerlings I asked for instead of broccolini (possible food allergy) were cold and way over salted. The restaurant has a nice upscale vibe. Our group started with a crab cake and the buleed brie. both dishes were well prepared and tasted very good. Most of the table had the ribs which had a nice barbeque sauce and our friends suggested to upgrade to the fingerling potatos which was a good decision. My wife had the Gnocchi which she enjoyed. It's also great that they have some creative and delicious looking spirit free drinks. We had someone joining late, and the server was very patient with us throughout the night as we were ready to order. We started out with a duck tostada, which was good but very small for the price. We also got the Lobster Roll which was fine, but it came with absolutely cold french fries. The redeeming meal of the night was the scallops that came on corn grits, rapini, and bacon marmalade.
