"The customer comes first" is not the philosophy of this establishment. I went to meet friends and enjoy some coffee. The 2 young workers there insisted on keeping the front door wide open on a cold (40 degree), damp, raw winter day. I asked the young women working there if the front door might be closed because it was so cold inside and pointed out that everyone was sitting in their coats. I was told that they couldn't possibly close the door because if they did, it might get "too warm" for them behind the counter. read more

Seven Stones is a great little coffee shop in Media. To find it, go to Deal's hardware and to the left of the building you will find the former Plum Street a walkway to several shops. The coffee is fresh and hot, bagels are terrific the food menu is different each time I visited there. There are a few tables outside. It is definitely a trendy/hip/funky atmosphere without being pretentious. Great for breakfast or lunch - try one of their "breakfast sammies". Haven't been there for dinner. Coffee and service were great but it's a bit dirty. Looked so homey when I walked in but the dirt on the window sills and dead flies made me think it's not as hygienic as I expect. Especially if you make food. Just a little unappetizing. The cookie was too sweet and rock hard so don't try that. Is definitely go back for coffee here and there but it wasn't a place I'll go to as often to hang out is all. A little more cleaning goes a long way. read more

It is red pepper, spinach, scrambled egg, and tastes super yummy on a multigrain bagel. Really good bagels, btw. They have a lot of yummy drinks - my favorite is the Harmony Latte which is chai with a bit of vanilla and espresso. A little expensive, but really yummy so worth it. During busy times the counter area can get a bit crowded, but there is a really sweet dining area with local art and a nice bit of outdoor seating. read more

This place is everything a coffee shop/cafe should be. its a nice calm setting off State St in downtown Media. Great selection of soups that rotate daily. Featured sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads. I had the mixed greens w/ spinach salad and added Chicken salad, onions and roasted peppers. Homemade and delicious! Great fresh produce! My wife had the soup and salad combo - great chicken and sausage soup and she added egg salad - another winner! Topped it off with a Boyelan's creamy Red Birch beer, nice cheery staff and plenty of friendly customers. One thing - its cold in here when its cold outside. Warmer weather allows you to dine under a nice pergola on the brick patio with the sounds of a trickling fountain! Enjoy! read more

I was enthusiastically persuaded to stop by this cafe for a quick bite and a drink and to get some work done. Sheesh am I disappointed for several reasons. Firstly, I love the location and red brick walk to the cafe. Upon arriving I decided I wasn't in the mood for coffee so I choose kombucha and a mountain spring water out of the fridge. The greeting at the register was moderately friendly nothing that made me feel abnormally welcome. $7 total is about right. (No pricing for the fridge drinks) Then I asked to use the restroom, the response was "it's right there." How about sure! Yeah! No problem, it's right this way..." again just frank, simple responses. After a brief wait, I go step in and notice the super tiny shoebox restroom has a completely soaked floor. I have to roll up my jeans to go in. I lay paper towels down while occupying the laboratory. Ewww. Not to mention it was RIDICULOUSLY hot in there. A super teeny tiny room with no air circulation and a sopping wet floor wasn't what I imagine as comfortable when one is using the restroom. Maybe have shifts where employees dry mop the floor or plug a fan in and that would help dry the floor and cut down on the stuffiness. While passing by the front counter I ask " excuse me, do you have wifi?" ( I'm solo and here to work) "No we don't." Is the reply. REALLY? It's 2017 and your a CAFE. And how about a sorry? A typical hospitable customer service response when you can't accommodate a customer. I sit in the dining area anyway for a couple minutes and notice the decor is haphazardly strewn about and Christmas light are droopily hung all around and I'm left uninspired and flustered with the chaotic, immature decor. I'm glad the paintings displayed for sale are supporting local artists but do them a favor and make it more organized, inspiring and curated with care. This place has so much potential that it's saddens me that it looks like attention to detail, cleanliness and pride in appearance are not a priority nor is stellar customer service. Slight chance I would return in the future for a smoothie or coffee to go and see how this place holds up. read more

I've been here quite a few times, but mostly because there isn't really any other coffeehouse in Media other than starbucks. The service is spotty; sometimes ok, but there have been a few times where I ordered egg and cheese on a croissant and when I got home I found out they gave me bacon egg and cheese on a bagel- totally wrong. Great little coffee shop. Coffee is always fresh. Food is always flavorful. The staff is super friendly and patient - even with smaller children. I was in just the other day and noticed some staff members knew the names of the children! That was a nice touch. They took time to say hello even though they were very busy. Great place to sit outside and enjoy town. (Right next to the fountain and the chess tables!) All it's missing is free Wi-Fi. But perhaps that's not a bad thing. Omg. The barista who works weekday mornings makes a ridiculously amazing latte. I treated myself to one maybe once every other week while I was pregnant and he makes a decaf latte so good it doesn't even taste like decaf- it's amazing! The La Colombe coffee sure doesn't hurt, but I also know that it is the time they take to craft a good drink. Can be a bit pricey but the atmosphere and the coffee beat Starbucks any day. The section of Plum St. where Seven Stones Cafe is located is no longer a drive through street. The entire block is a walk through area and the cafe's outdoor seating is here. It's very cozy. Food isn't prepared after 4p though what has been prepared for the day is still available but by 5p is getting close to being ready for the composter. There is one vegan wrap that is offered that is nothing I would go out of my way for. There are no vegan and gluten free pastry items and the vegan wrap is not gluten free. They do offer a few vegan pasties. Don't know if any items are gluten free. The cafe au lait was good but more foam than coffee. read more

LOVE Cafe Isla! Their lattes are amazing. Very accommodating for people with food allergies. I get their vanilla almond milk latte every time. Their food is delicious and fresh. They have a few vegan desserts as well which are fantastic. They will substitute anything you want for their food items. The vibes are amazing and every time we go there, we are surrounded by people conversing and enjoying the day. Wi-Fi is hit or miss, but we don't mind that. I really wanted to like this place because it's so cute and casual. But they have to do something about their pricing for the bagels. It's clearly intended to be priced for breakfast sandwiches, and for a bagel sandwich with eggs, meat, cheese, and/or other toppings, $6 wouldn't be outrageous. What is outrageous? I literally just wanted a toasted bagel with nothing on it, and they charged $6 for it because they only have pricing for bagel sandwiches. So if you do a bagel, no sandwich- you pay as much as the full deal. I was here with a friend or I would have said forget about it. It's a shame because I actually thought the bagel was good and the atmosphere was cute. They also have an adorable bakery and I thought it was nice that they had GF options too although I'm personally not GF. I may try them again and skip the bagel next time, unless they start charging a reasonable price for one. read more

Atmosphere was very new-agey, they had great coffee and I had a wonderful dulce de leche cake that was truly yum... however, I really needed to get some work done while I sipped, but they don't have wifi. No wife in a coffeehouse?? I asked the gentleman behind the counter about it, he said that they don't have wifi because they want us to "unwind from the day". Hmm... isn't that a little authoritarian for such a hippie dippy place? I ended up going to the place up the street for the 90 minutes that I waited and spent my money there. This small cafe/ coffee house just floored my lovely wife and I when we first visited. As children of the late 60's we felt as thought we were transported back to the past. The art work on the walls, the beaded curtains and especially the Janis Joplin on the sound system. Then the food! Sandwiches made with whole grain breads and wholesome and inventive ingredients, homemade soups and baked goods rounded out the Age of Aquarius feel. Service was friendly and the food wonderful. The coffee was La Columbe coffee which just happens to be my favorite. Be aware that this place may be a little hard to find. It is just off State Street in Media on a little closed off street next to the store "Deals". Take the trouble to find it, you'll like it. read more

Oh man, this place rocks! They serve La Colombe Coffee which is the best in the business, and their food was crazy amazing. They also had a solid selection of teas and cold drinks. My girl and I split their Sweet Corn Soup and a Tuna-Pesto Melt on a multi-grain bagel. (They use LeBus bread) It was prolly the best in each category I have ever tasted. This place by their food and drink alone sport a 5 star rating from me, but they get another 4.5 stars for ambiance. Everything you could want in a local cafe when you just wanna get out and be comfortable with a friend or a book. Minus a .5 star for having a lame music setup, (a boom-box angled just right for music projection) but it might add to the stigma for some. Price was right up my alley. Under $20 bucks for the food and two large coffees which is a steal. All-in-all, with the wood floors, friendly service, great artwork, and choice eats this ranks as my #1 cafe destination outside of any metropolitan area. *Wi-Fi: There was a free connection there, but as a tech guy, I would of wanted to see something more solid to protect the patrons. It was an configured 'NETGEAR' connection that yielded good speeds and was reliable. But I don't know if it was even theirs or a next door neighbors. I love a place that takes something classic and reminds you why you liked it in the first place. Seven Stone Cafe takes the coffee/tea house and provides something a little extra with surprisingly good fresh food. Walking through the door at Seven Stones Cafe in the quaint town of Media, PA (guys take your dates here), the first thing you'll notice is the amazing lineup of desserts flanking you on the right. Cakes, pies, and other delicious sweet things too numerous to list, it will take every fiber of your being not to order one of everything. Obscuring your eyes from about 7,000 hours of cardio, you glance up at the dusty chalkboard menus with that sort of ornate calligraphy that would harshly judge your own scribbling handwriting. The inside feels contemporary and hip without trying too hard, and the smiling girl/guy behind the counter warmly welcoming you inside diffuses any air of pretension that could exist. The bread and butter of the place is, of course, their robust La Colombe coffee menu, which features all of the staples you know and love, from straight-up coffee to lattes to hot apple cider. Not really a coffee drinker and after being abused by the cold air and dead leaves of fall, I opted for the hot apple cider, which at $3 for a large with a whole cinnamon stick in it wasn't a bad deal. The menu is concise and focused on old favorites - hot paninis, robust salads, and homemade quiche - with a healthy-ish twist (vegetarian and vegan options). I ordered the special of the night, the Black Bean Burger, served on flat bread with an assortment of peppers, avocado, and a mayo-ey spread. The fresh ingredients and the addition of the flat bread made the burger outstanding, a very pleasant surprise. The only downfall were the chips on the side, in which you receive four or five obviously Tostitos chips. I love Tostitos as much as the next person, but it seems really out of place in this type of coffee shop with a feel of being homemade. Overall, if I lived in Media I'd be a regular here nearly every day, especially with that large dessert bar daring me to try something. If you want a hot drink or a quick bite to eat, I'd recommend checking out Seven Stones Cafe. read more
