Touristy crap food. There is no excuse for eating bad food in Paris! The Veal here needs a chain saw to get through it, and even if you had a chain saw, then you'd have to eat it. Love that this place stays open late and still serves food after midnight! We were craving french food after arriving from Amsterdam late that night and this place delivered! Steps away from St Germain metro stop. Easy to find. Outdoor seating available so you can people watch while you eat. Highlight of the night was the sole muniere avec les pommes de terre, lemon sole with potatoes. Initially presented beautifully whole, the server then takes it back to filet the sole which is then re-plated and presented just as beautifully, served with a side of pommes de terre. The potatoes are insanely delicious. Creamy, melt in your mouth whole potatoes, perfectly skinned, tasting of delicious french butter. It's like eating potato gratin but in whole baby potato form. Insanely delicious. The fish deserves a paragraph all on its own. Light, flaky buttery fish needing only but a light touch of lemon to bring out its delicate flavors ever so more. This dish is what I believe french cuisine is in a nutshell-beautiful, delicate, light and yet full of flavor, a type of bite that makes you naturally smile after you've finished taking a bite. This place is memorable and certainly a place my fiancee and I will think of every time we think of our trip to Paris. read more

It was too cold for the patio and It was happy hour. Place was slow. We walked inside where we were shown the front table. Happy hour prices arent great and pre-fixe dinners are out. So are most items on the menu. Service had a bad attitude on top of not having anything less then 30 euros to serve. We ended up walking out and told them of there bad attitude. This small and cozy cafe is a great place to come for brunch in Paris. Start off with the French onion soup, you will not be disappointed. I.T was super flavorful and cheesy. I.T had all the components a French onion soup should have. The burger was also fantastic. I.T was cooked to perfection and tasted so fresh. I also really liked their bubbly lemonade. My boyfriend ordered the grilled cheese with an egg on top and was very satisfied. The portions were big and held us over for most of the day! We enjoyed this place so much that we went twice during our four day vacation in Paris. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. They made sure that we liked the food and constantly cleaned off our table. I can't wait to go back again and get the bacon burger and the French onion soup! I highly recommend these two things! Bees galore, service tried to recover in a gallant effort. We stopped in for lunch at recommendation of our hotel for quality food. The décor and location are nice, we were seated on the patio at the edge of the restaurant next to some plants/flowers (more on this later). We ordered the salade freshe with avocado smoked salmon, citrus, etc, the polpo tartare, and a charcuterie board. The salad and octopus were pretty good and refreshing after walking around for far too long. We are always cautious when ordering salad in Paris but figured since our hotel recommended the spot it would be a safe bet, and it was. Unfortunately Parisian bees seem to really enjoy prosciutto and one landed on ours and wouldn't leave. One of the servers (not even assigned to our table) noticed how uncomfortable we were and came over and picked up the bee inside a slice of meat with a fork and knife and took it to the back of the restaurant, only to return with a fresh plate of prosciutto for us! Despite this effort, more bees soon came, and we decided to just get the check and leave. We obviously would never fault the restaurant for the bees but maybe don't sit next to the plants/flowers at the edge of the restaurant if you have a choice, I think that might help. The food itself was very good and service was really remarkable, no one else seemed too bothered by the bees but my husband is allergic and was therefore more scared. read more

First, I'll make a comment on the cigarette smoke because we almost left due to this. I don't care if you are in New York, LA, Paris, London, etc. you run into cigarette smoke. It doesn't make you any cooler or add a more positive experience to my meal to smell the 2nd hand cigarette smoke of another idiot who wants to kill themselves prematurely. If some people get up for the cigarette smoke don't judge them because we all know it is extremely stupid to smoke. Second, now to the restaurant. We were lucky to run into this place without finding Yelp. So they are clearly known for their brunch as pretty much everyone was eating their brunch on Sunday. My wife got the French Onion Soup and I started off with the Escargot. Very solid. For mains my wife got the roasted duck with fries and I got the beef tartar. I had them prepare it and wish I would have asked for it without capers but that was on me. It was super fresh and a really good meal. We opted for no desert because the mains were so big and provided a ton of food. This area is really nice part of Paris and I recommend it for both restaurants, shopping and wandering the streets. read more

They brought me the wrong dish and when I sent it back, they brought a rushed and borderline raw version of the original dish 40 minutes later, which I had requested they not do. When I denied that, they refused to remove it from my bill and would not let me leave without paying for it, even though I did not eat it. This lovely café on Saint Germain provided the wonderful finishing touches to a day I still can't believe happened. I ventured to Paris last summer, planning my trip so that I'd be there for the final stage of the Tour de France. I have long yearned to experience the thrill of those last 10 laps on the Champs Elysees. During my time on Paris's most famous street, I ingested overpriced, borderline inedible steak and potatoes au gratin. I deserved that dreadful meal and left much of it on the plate. Given that, I was quite hungry again that night. Café Louise delivered in all the ways I had hoped. The space was charming, the poulet de bresse (roasted chicken) succulent and the gratin de pomme de terre (potatoes au gratin) splendid. The Latin Quarter features eateries on most corners, and not all of them earn their real estate. Café Louise earns everything. It will not disappoint you. Profiteroles for dessert? Recommended by our Hotel De St. Peres around the corner, which it turns out uses this cafe for its room service. We were promptly seated in an otherwise crowded place at the height of lunch, and had an outstanding French onion soup, highly flavored and rich, a shrimp quiche with arugula side salad which was quite sizeable and fresh, and a foie Gras platter with pineapple chutney. All were excellent and the service was friendly. Reasonably priced and right on Boulevard St. Germain. Would definitely return. read more

Paris is literally FULL of cafes, but there was a je ne sais quoi quality about this one that compelled us to walk in and take a seat. I came specifically to this cafe based on a friend's recommendation - He raved about it from his last trip to Paris. Unfortunately, my experience was very underwhelming. I sat down and ordered my sandwich, the server asked me what I wanted to drink and I asked for water with no ice. He asked me if I wanted sparkling water and I said just flat. He brought me an Evian (which I did not order) and a glass full of ice an poured the water in it. I reminded him I wanted my water with no ice, so he brought me an empty glass. When I looked a little puzzled, he then grabbed the glass with the ice, went away, threw the ice out and brought the glass with the water back to the table. It's really a silly thing to note, but after all this, when I asked for the bill, I saw a charge of 5.5 euros for the little 33 cl of Evian water which I did not even order. That pissed me off. The quality of the food wasn't great either. The fries were not even hot, and the salad that came with it was abysmal. The value for the money is not worth it. read more

We came here out of convenience as our hotel was a couple of blocks away. Plus, I always like the idea of eating outside at a cafe in Europe. Of course, we chose to eat outside and it was cramped as most cafes are. We weren't on top of anyone or anything but it does mean smaller tables where not a lot of plates and glasses fit. I got the Poulet de Bresse rôti aux aromates as I just wanted to try a French chicken dish, and this was a bit disappointing. It was just ok - it didn't wow me. Filet of beef with pepper and green beans was amazing. Paired with coquillette pasta with ham, some Tabasco sauce, bread and water to wash down nicely. Cleared both plates between the two of us and now we're stuffed. The filet beef was seared all around with crushed peppers, and although the slab was pretty big somehow the chef managed to cook it perfectly well done with barely a hit of red meat uncooked. Would stop by again to dine next time I'm around the area. They offered a 15 Euro deal for omelette, juice, croissant, and something else...but I was feeling steak and pasta at the moment. Located in a cluster of other cafes in St. Germain, Cafe Louise is a cute bistro style restaurant that serves mostly French cuisine. The menus are in both French and English, and the staff are super friendly. We ordered the escargot, the Parmesan gnocchi, sea bass, and the burger, followed by the cheese cake and creme brûlée for dessert. The gnocchi were made in house, and super soft, so delicious! The cheese cake was baked French style, light and more cake like. Great dining experience! read more

Went here yesterday for a casual lunch and he ordered the scallops and I got the croque monseiur (spelling may be incorrect) and shared tap water. Almost immediately after the lunch my boyfriend started feeling sick and soon after I did. We were both VERY ill for about 36 hours with the classic symptoms of food poisoning. I went for Brunch to Café Louise, sitting outside in the sun (actually, it´s on the shadow-side of bd Saint Germain) and watching people going on with their lives on one of Paris most prestigious shopping-streets. Service was very friendly, food was alright. A typical buffet-breakfast like you can get in any decent cafe. Quality of the food was alright but nothing I would return for. Stay away from the sausages though (fatty little things that had my stomach in turmoil for half the day) instead eat more of the excellent scrambled eggs. This was our 'spontaneous meal' for the trip. And exactly why I started researching for vacations a couple years ago. I assumed it would be easy to find a cute Parisian café with amazing food. It's not! It's expensive, mediocre food. You are paying for the location, but what's the point? Unless you're a smoker, there's no people watching to be had since the indoors are largely open to the patio. We paid around US$50 for an open faced chicken sandwich and burger, no drinks. Fries were white and undercooked. The best thing I had was my side salad. The waitstaff were pleasant and spoke English well (as you'd expect in the touristy area). Go elsewhere my friends, unless you have money to burn just for the heck of it. Or if you smoke, sit on the patio and have a drink. read more

Don't be fooled about how "empty" the restaurant is. You can always find a seat and there is always the perfect amount of people in the restaurant. The food came out at the perfect temperature. Service was very good; definite what you can expect from a fancy casual restaurant. The food was delicious and had a nice French feel for tourists. Absolutely amazing!!!! We have been in Paris for 4 days and have eaten here twice. Staff interaction has been superb. We don't speak any French and they have been extremely helpful with any questions we had with patience. Menus are in French with an English translation under each item. Food is unparalleled & price is fair for the quality of the food and level of service. Highly recommend this establishment!!! Can not say enough good things.
