I spoke to Miguel. Very nice, great guy and very hospitable. He said he had a place with his father for over 18 years in Newtown. He branched off to open this new spot. They opened just a month in a half ago. It's a pretty spacious deli. Great lighting and extremely clean. Miguel told me they do most everything in house. They make their own meatballs and cook most everything there. Except the bread he told me is delivered. He also mentioned the roast beef which looked delicious that they do that in house too. There are signboards along two walls up high close to the ceiling with all of these sandwich specials. They have breakfast sandwiches, burgers, salads, sandwiches, grinders and paninis. They were quick to make a couple of warm grinders and a pressed reuben sandwich. Everything came out quick. Today on my first visit I purchased a meatball parm & chicken parm grinder along with the sandwich above I mentioned. This is where things changed but I'm going to leave it at that for now. Since they're very new and may have to find their own rhythm and tweak some things I'm going to wait on my personal critique of what I feel about the food for now. I'm only wishing the best for a new business and hoping for the best. I've heard good things in the short time they've opened and I'm wishing them great success. This review is based solely on the visit, look, feel, cleanliness and hospitality of Miguel, one of the owners.

All - exactly what I had hoped. Cook on the medium rare burger was clinically perfect. Meat to bun ratio was spot on. Hot, juicy. Terrific. Giving four stars in its category today as I want to dive deeper into the menu. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll. I asked for my egg to be cooked "hard". I was served a runny egg. I couldn't eat it. I planned to take it home to heat a bit more. At the register you can view the cooks. The person handling my food reached on my plate glove free and put it in a box. I couldn't eat the sandwich after witnessing that. Then someone parked behind my car which wasn't a parking spot. It turned into a huge commotion for me to get to work on time. I know it was an off day, but the likelihood of me returning anytime soon is slim. The staff is courteous but served my food without listening to my needs.

I was embarrassed to call with 4hrs notice. They didn't flinch. Easy. Made me feel really good about my decision. The pasta was cooked perfectly and they did everything right. I'd give the vodka sauce 7/10 in the area. Salad was fresh. Terrific toppings (not just lettuce) and the dressings were good quality. My experience today makes me really look forward to my first dine-in experience. Really good people. Great service. I can see why folks love this place. The diner was not very busy a few tables with customers....the owner standing at the kitchen window greeted us warmly as we arrived... We sat ourselves at a booth and waited for the server to approach... She watched us walk in and seat ourselves and let us sit for ten minutes without approaching... Two more customers walked in behind us sat themselves and she went right over with no issue and took their order right away... Put their order in at the window and then slowly shuffled over to our table with no greeting... Brashly asked us what we wanted to drink and if we knew what we wanted to eat right from the jump... My husband ordered a regular coffee and a chocolate milk... She turned to me and said what do you want... I asked for a cup of decaf and she replied "decaf what?" As if there were more options for decaffeinated beverages... I responded a cup of decaf coffee please and thank you... she turned snidely and walked away... Two minutes later brought out our drinks and again said with a sneer do you know what you want?.... I ordered an omelette w/ home fries and white toast, my hubby ordered a short stack of pancakes... She put our order in and seven minutes later brought out our order... put them on the table asked if we wanted ketchup or hot sauce we politely declined both stating no thank you she then puts the check on the table and walks away NEVER returning to check on our meal satisfaction or if we needed refills. I cut into the omelette just to find egg soup inside... Mushroom and cheese omelettes normally aren't as runny as this was... kept cutting into it just to see it flop open... only for it to be half cooked inside... I ate the toast and what little home fries I received were burnt to a crisp like it was from the grease trap and not fresh at all... I have never had an issue with their food prior to these last two visits but the more I go the less I feel welcomed. This will be our last trip to this particular diner.. maybe I would be better off ordering things to go and picking them up.... unfortunately I will not go back to an establishment where I don't feel welcomed by the server... let alone to tip someone less than deserving of her title as a "server".... Saddest part is that she could have been a bit kinder forced a smiled and at minimum come by to see if we were enjoying our meal that again was less than satisfactory...But NO!! Rushed out the order to our table... Just to be rushed out the door with our check before we even took our first bite. My husband, I felt was being generous for even tipping her what he did... I would've left her a nice tip on the back of the receipt stating "gratuity is earned NOT promised or guaranteed, smile, be kind, & at very least check on your customers that is my tip for you in 2026."

Everything perfectly prepared and at $13, good value. Coffee bottomless. Maggie was my excellent server. Six booths, 3 tables, approx 9 stools. Not overly large, but large enough. Good vibe. According to the owner, in an average week, Dad's Diner goes through about 90 dozen eggs. So about 154 eggs / day on average, keeping the hens (and roosters) busy. This smallish diner definitely punches above its weight class. 5 stars
