Love all the humorous signage around the restaurant, free WiFi, colorful decor, "Tell Us Where You Are From" maps on the walls. Enjoyed seeing a parent show her children the places on the map they've visited. Shane, our server, also seemed largely responsible for the bar area as well as being one of the servers. Clearly, individuals who appeared to be "regulars" have lively and fun conversations with Shane. It was fun overhearing snippets of their conversations while we ate. Glad the conversations around us were so interesting, because it did take longer than expected for our meals to be served. I am so glad I followed Shane's suggestion that the chicken fried steak was their most popular item. It was, in fact, very good. Love that even the biscuit underneath the steak and sausage gravy was very tasty. The hash browns were delicious Maggie's corned beef hash was very disappointing, made worse by this being our only meal til we reach our next destination tonight. Overall, we loved the ambiance, Shane served us well and we loved seeing the diverse clientele interact with the staff and each other - even the cook came out to greet customers at the bar with high fives all around. read more

Very casual pub atmosphere attached to a a small casino. Arrived at 8:40am on a Saturday - There was no wait, and by the time we left, there were still tables open, but service was very slow. I think it was an hour from being seated to actually getting our food. Fairly expensive for breakfast. I believe the french toast was $18 and an additional $5 for Fruit topping. Advertised as 6 pieces, it came with only 5 but was still a very large portion Coffee was served in huge mugs, which everyone enjoyed. Meals were okay. Unfortunately this was not a great experience for us. We chose it because it looked cute and was on our way to Yellowstone. Unfortunately a server had left, sick, so they were short-staffed. Let's just say we waited an hour for our food to arrive. What made it worse was that people who came in after us (2 tables) got served first. Not good. The food was good, not great, and the servers were more than apologetic, but lesson learned to eat somewhere where there are more choices, so that we could've left once we knew the situation. read more

This place has completely gone downhill. There were barely any people dining in, yet we still waited 30 minutes for basic food -- I watched other customers wait 40+ minutes while the restaurant wasn't even busy. A table asked to have their meals comped for their extremely long wait and one of the cooks came out and only offered to comp their drinks. Then went in the back and shit talked so loudly the poor customers could hear them. This person clearly has no customer service experience... When the food finally came out, it was horrible. Poorly cooked, bland, and honestly not worth eating -- I had somewhere to be and didn't have time to wait even longer or send it back. the poor servers are taking the brunt of customers' frustration when this is clearly a kitchen and management issue. They were doing their best, but the lack of urgency behind the scenes is frightening. Long waits, bad food, and no excuse for it when the place is nearly empty. Extremely disappointing. read more

Great relaxing place to enjoy breakfast.. you walk in and seat yourself. The service was great and attentive. Many places in the area offer breakfast sandwiches, and it's nice to have a place that actually has breakfast meals. The chicken fried steak was very good and worth the wait. This was about the only place we could find on our way in and out of big sky go eat. It's a neat little place with a full bar in the back. It's right next to the gallatin river too. The elk chili was awesome. The chili was kind of spicy with lots of meat in it and really good. I liked it a lot. Then I had half of my bacon cheeseburger and I was in heaven. The burger was pretty good size with a fresh pickle on top. You could tell it was a homemade burger as it was really thick. I liked the brioche bun with the fresh lettuce and tomatoes on it. The bacon was still hot like it was just freshly cooked. It took awhile to get out food after we ordered but it was well worth the wait If I am ever back in this area I will stop on in again. Cafe 191 Bug Sky 5/5 Awesome cafe that's a 5 minutes drive from the shops of big sky. To my gluten free friends, they have amazing GF pancakes! I would highly recommend and would return in a heart beat to eat them again. They even gave me melted butter with my pancakes. They were fluffy, moist, and a large portion. The service was quick and the staff was very nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating (Sun and shaded tables). The price was a little high but seems typical of the area as there is not a whole lot around. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch on the way to Big Sky based on all the great Yelp reviews, and so glad we did! We split the John Wayne burger w/ bacon, onion ring, jalapeños, cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese and tomato on a brioche bun, and it hit the spot after a long day of traveling. We also split a great side salad w/ an awesome blue cheese dressing, and their beer battered fries, which were very tasty. They have espresso drinks, Beer, wine and a full bar, too. Good Brunch in Big Sky. Went on Father's day. Not too busy. Food was hot and delicious

We were on our way to Montana Whitewater in Gallatin Gateway for some zip line and saw this place on Yelp. I am so glad we did. The reviews online did justice for sure. I had the prime rib dip which sauce and the roast beef with the provolone cheese sat beautifully in toasted bread. That's a winner for sure. My son had the bacon cheeseburger with mac n cheese as side and he said the patty was seasoned well and moist. For the mac n cheese, the cheese was a bit too watery but he still enjoyed it. My wife had the grilled walleye fish taco and they fulfilled her request to use corn tortilla. All the dishes were vibrant and hit the spot. Highly recommended. read more

Great food! We arrived at 8am (on a Friday) which was before the rush. Ordered the bison and eggs and the cafe omelet. The omelette came with AMAZING potatoes! My husband had the bison medium and love it soooo much! Sourdough toast was great with phenomenal butter. We would go there again (maybe tomorrow!). A little chilly in bathroom. Cafe 191 at the entrance to Big Sky. This is not a snooty Big Sky place. Mostly sandwiches and prices are not outlandish for the area. Salmon (wild-caught Coho) on croissant about $20. (Another Big Sky restaurant had salmon for $69). The tables all had a card telling you to relax - "be patient, trade smiles" needed because the tourist and owner population are both so "high strung". (I overheard a worker talking to another worker saying "I used to be a libertarian but now I'm an anarchist"). A local paramedic told me that Highway 191 has the highest death rate per capita for traffic deaths-- beware.  But Cafe 191 is a life saver for the non super rich. Friendly efficient service (they aren't letting the anarchist politics show, yet.) read more

Just flew into Bozeman, heading for West Yellowstone. Stopped here because I had to pee and I was hungry, in that order. So glad my bladder brought us here. We both ordered the prime rib dip, and it was fantastic! The meat was perfectly cooked seasoned . The bread was amazing. Seriously, one of the best beef dip sandwiches I've ever had, with or without the provolone . The soup of the day was chicken noodle, so I added a cup with the sandwich. Not what I expected, in a very good way. I have never had chicken noodle soup that tasted like this one did. Really cute little cafe. We decided to stop for lunch before heading out to hike. I thought it was a little pricey for what we got. It was $20 for a hamburger and fries. I had the whiskey burger. The hamburger was good not great. It was really messy to eat. Their was a lot of sauce on it. I like the taste of the sauce but there was just too much of it. It had sweet pickles, really thick bacon that was almost like ham, and something that I think were dill pickles cut oddly. I liked all of it together. The hamburger meat was a little over cooked I think. There was no juice left in it. The fries were good. My husband got the Mac and cheese instead of fries. I tasted it. So disappointing. Went here because of the decent reviews. Although the server was friendly, the food was very lacking and bland. The chicken salad croissant, which was supposed to have cranberries in it, did not. The hamburger bun was dry and falling apart. Came here during off-peak hours. Every single burger my party ordered weren't just burnt, they were SCORCHED. The pork Mac and cheese had two bits of pork and Costco pasta doused with velveeta cheese. Our server was polite and courteous but the kitchen staff really dropped the ball. This is a regrettable review for me as I had been a long time customer. Today I waited from 2pm-3:30pm for a pastrami sandwich. The manager and waitress blamed the table numbers, then the new kitchen staff, an updated menu, and finally being hungover. The sandwich I ordered was missing 2 of the 3 ingredients. When I went inside to ask that they cancel my order, the entire staff was eating their food at the bar and drinking. In the end, they removed 20% from my bill "$10", and wasted my afternoon as well as making it an uncomfortable exchange. Bring Jake back, fire the manager, do whatever you need to do to make this the brunch spot it was 2-3 years ago. It's pathetic now. read more

$52 for breakfast (for TWO people). If it was a decent portions and tasty, I'd be ok with that. Our omelets lacked the bacon that was listed on the menu. Hollandaise had absolutely no flavor. Potato's we're soggy and gross. It was a little depressing to be paying that much for potato's and eggs. I've had better breakfast out of the hot box at the conoco.
