Busy local eatery. Great food, service and atmosphere. Ask your server about the pictures on the walls. Lots of local history.

Hubs and I stopped here for breakfast recently. The place was busy and people were waiting on food and coffee when we arrived. We were in no rush though so didn't let that bother us. It's a cute place but not very large. There's more gift shop than restaurant. We ordered and our food came in a reasonable time. Stacy, our waitress, was very nice and attentive, even though it was busy. But, I have to say, we make it a point to ask our server their name and engage with them. I don't see many people doing that, and that can get old for servers after a while. A quick, "...and your name is?..." and saying please and thank you, goes a long way. It's unfortunately, not what we see everywhere anymore. I ordered the French toast and scrambled eggs, which was fine, but more cold than hot. It was fine, but not great. Needed something to make it worthwhile. These aren't the $3.95 breakfasts anymore; you walk out with a $25 bill for 2 people. So, the food should reflect that. This is our second time here, and we may return, but we hope that food is the focus.

Walked into the restaurant and was greeted warmly. Our server was kind, patient and helpful. The inlet I ordered was amazing and had this fresh taste I've never tasted before. The restaurant was clean, organized and very well runned. The soda fountain was also a plus since it was my very first time to have soda from such an old machine lol. Overall very good and would come again.

A nice diverse town in the great state of Montana. Decent service and great prices on their food (menu below). Soda fountain and milkshake bar give a pretty great old western town vibe. Recommend the fiesta skillet and the classic breakfast!

Stopped in for breakfast on a Tuesday at around 10am. Seemed like the only game in town for breakfast that was open. Place was busy and it looked like most of the customers already seated had menus and no food or drinks. The two servers seemed a bit overwhelmed. But frankly, in addition to the obvious out of towners and CDT hikers in the place, there had been a steady flow of local regulars. One "regular" in particular seemed overly demanding about getting his coffee and did not appear to be joking. Stacey, our server, put on a smile and made sure our coffee cups didn't run dry. I want to give a better Star Rating; but the food wasn't very good. It's breakfast fare and tough to get wrong; but sadly I've had better freeze dried meals from Back Packer Pantry. As with all local shops, I wish them well. I hope they can improve on the quality of the food. Will return when the tourists are gone...

Came in on Friday, and they had to close early. Tried again on Saturday morning. They were out of the chicken fried steak and corned beef hash, so we just went with the classic breakfast. Everything tasted well-seasoned. The place was packed! I would like to go back and try the items in their soda fountain menu.

A little hole in the wall place in Ennis Montana that shouts at you from the 50s and 60s decor done tastefully. Some kind of a general Mercantile store attached with hardly anything on the shelves. Had had to walk through the store to get to the café. The ladies made me an excellent vanilla malt. And their breakfast was good but had to ask them to heat up the food. Short staffed like everywhere else but I wasn't in a rush. So no complaints.

I've eaten in many places in the USA, but it was here that I found the best pancakes in the USA, a place with delicious food and fantastic service. we were attended to by Josy. very good service. I will certainly return here and whenever I come to Montana my family and I will spend here God bless

Both were delicious and filled with ingredients. They don't short you on anything here. They had no problem substituting or adding ingredients to our sandwiches. Hubby had a freshly brewed iced tea made right at the counter with tea leaves. He said it was awesome. The owner was very friendly. She had a bubbly personality and was also helpful by providing some other customers with local info. If you're a local yourself, you probably already know about this gem. If you're passing through Ennis, make a stop at Kalena's. You won't be disappointed.

Service was limited but the young lady who waited on us was very sweet and even patiently listen to my grandson's tale of breaking his toe. Two in our party chose the daily special which was pulled BBQ pork on a hoagie roll topped with creamy cold slaw. The BBQ was a sweet tomato based sauce. It was declared really good but somewhat messy. I ordered a "grizzly", roast beef, grilled onions, pepper Jack cheese and tomato on grilled sourdough. It was delicious. Mom got a "gravely" which was a pastrami sandwich. This is a small establishment with outdoor tables and a small adjacent room with a few indoor tables. On this sunny but cool day most patrons were eating outdoors. We arrived just in time as it got very busy for a Wednesday. Great place for lunch!

There is a bar side and a restaurant side. Service has always been attentive and friendly. There is also a casino inside with fun games. Perfect place to hangout after a long day of fishing. Lodging- 2 stars. We used to stay in the cute cabins until about 3 years ago. Everything on the inside is outdated. It didn't feel clean. The bathroom was mildewed and smelled . I hope they choose to remodel the inside of the cabins because they do look cute from outside. But the inside does leave a lot to be desired. So we no longer stay there, but we eat almost all meals there because they are the bomb. I think management hasn't redone the rooms because there is not a whole lot of selection of where you can stay here and everything fills up very quickly, regardless of the quality because it is a smaller town. And now with the new Madison TV show I'm sure more people will be coming out, and there will be even less places to stay.

We went again tonight and while the cattleman's cutlet (aka chicken fried steak) was tasty enough, and my wifes' meatball sandwhich has some Italian nuances to it, the menu has become rather boring. Even the fish and chips are no longer on the menu???? Clearly the new management has chosen to make this just your average diner, with a below average menu. Why they put mussels on the appetizer menu is mind boggling. Really? Mussels in Ennis? Scary. Abby did a formidable job trying to keep up. She and only one other waiter were frantically running around, while the manager stood around watching for the most part. Next time we will go into town, where the G-bar and the Longbranch Saloon have a more diverse menu and better staffed. Not to mention Burnt Tree Pizza!
