    French toast

Unfortunately this was not a great experience for us. We chose it because it looked cute and was on our way to Yellowstone. Unfortunately a server had left, sick, so they were short-staffed. Let's just say we waited an hour for our food to arrive. What made it worse was that people who came in after us (2 tables) got served first. Not good. The food was good, not great, and the servers were more than apologetic, but lesson learned to eat somewhere where there are more choices, so that we could've left once we knew the situation.

Breakfast Breakfast Breakfast is the bees knees. Delicious. The biscuits and gravy are what to order. The Family really enjoyed everything.

Great relaxing place to enjoy breakfast.. you walk in and seat yourself. The service was great and attentive. Many places in the area offer breakfast sandwiches, and it's nice to have a place that actually has breakfast meals. The chicken fried steak was very good and worth the wait. The two eggs breakfast comes with a side of their homemade jam and it was a nice touch.

This was about the only place we could find on our way in and out of big sky go eat. It's a neat little place with a full bar in the back. It's right next to the gallatin river too. The elk chili was awesome. The chili was kind of spicy with lots of meat in it and really good. I liked it a lot. Then I had half of my bacon cheeseburger and I was in heaven. The burger was pretty good size with a fresh pickle on top. You could tell it was a homemade burger as it was really thick. I liked the brioche bun with the fresh lettuce and tomatoes on it. The bacon was still hot like it was just freshly cooked. It took awhile to get out food after we ordered but it was well worth the wait If I am ever back in this area I will stop on in again. Our waitress was super sweet too had suggested a couple of good cold beers for me.

Cafe 191 Bug Sky 5/5 Awesome cafe that's a 5 minutes drive from the shops of big sky. To my gluten free friends, they have amazing GF pancakes! I would highly recommend and would return in a heart beat to eat them again. They even gave me melted butter with my pancakes. They were fluffy, moist, and a large portion. The service was quick and the staff was very nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating (Sun and shaded tables). The price was a little high but seems typical of the area as there is not a whole lot around.

I absolutely love coming here. The service is always so fast and friendly. The food is consistently good, I've had a few things on the menu and I have to say their French toast is a must! Location is right between Bozeman and West Yellowstone just in the canyon of big sky. It's a great little diner to stop and enjoy for locals and tourist!

John & Wayne burger - Angus beef, bacon, onion ring, BBQ sauce, jalapeño, pickles, cheddar and Swiss cheese on a brioche bun - awesome!

Stopped in for a late lunch on the way to Big Sky based on all the great Yelp reviews, and so glad we did! We split the John Wayne burger w/ bacon, onion ring, jalapeños, cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese and tomato on a brioche bun, and it hit the spot after a long day of traveling. We also split a great side salad w/ an awesome blue cheese dressing, and their beer battered fries, which were very tasty. They have espresso drinks, Beer, wine and a full bar, too. Our server, Aurora, was so helpful and sweet; thanks! Will have to come back to try their famous rueben sandwich next time!

    Grilled walleye fish taco

We were on our way to Montana Whitewater in Gallatin Gateway for some zip line and saw this place on Yelp. I am so glad we did. The reviews online did justice for sure. I had the prime rib dip which sauce and the roast beef with the provolone cheese sat beautifully in toasted bread. That's a winner for sure. My son had the bacon cheeseburger with mac n cheese as side and he said the patty was seasoned well and moist. For the mac n cheese, the cheese was a bit too watery but he still enjoyed it. My wife had the grilled walleye fish taco and they fulfilled her request to use corn tortilla. All the dishes were vibrant and hit the spot. Highly recommended.

The prices are…read moreoutrageous, of course, but the real kicker is that you order from a kiosk and then get prompted to leave a tip, and when you look up, the two (TWO!) workers are on their phones. Chef's kiss! Our daughter got the Magic Carpet Ride, which was a pretty good deal for $10 for a small burger and fries. We shared the "GNAR-BE-QUE" ($19 with no sides) and also got some loaded fries and carrot fries. Yes, we were being total fatties after a day of skiing, don't judge! Of course it ended up being way too much food. The burger is pretty good, but the carrot fries were undercooked and the cheese fries were essentially just smothered and became way too soggy. Everything was also super salty. One of us appreciated the spicy margarita and they do have a bunch of beers on draft. This actually would have been a mostly positive review but then we allowed our daughter to get one of those ridiculous milkshakes ($19) and it was downright disgusting. Re. the strawberry milkshake, which was called "Unicorn Toot" (BARF), the actual milkshake portion--aka the heart of the matter--was entirely liquid. Zero element of ice cream or texture and there was so much crap all over it that it was beyond over the top. Cotton candy in a cone plopped on top??! Just WHAT. It's like they came up with the idea with AI it was so dumb. Listen, we had a good time hanging out with a friend there that we randomly met up with at Big Sky, but it seems like there are way better places to eat. We'd skip this place. Three (generous) stars.

Really attentive service!…read moreSince it's Big Sky, the prices were definitely high, but I was really impressed with the delicious BLT I had. A simple sandwich, but it was really elevated with thick, delicious bacon, so you felt like you were at least getting something special for your money. Also, the side salad I had was so fresh with a great variety of vegetables, and I was able to order an interesting house made parsley vinaigrette. It has a classic apre ski vibe, but also tons of space and some fun bar games.

As soon as this new management agency Apres Cru took over; Tips Up went down hill. The charm is gone. Thebartenders and servers are no longer allowed to hangout with their friends off the clock at Tips or the other two establishments that Apres Cru runs. It's quite disheartening to walk into Tips now and know for 100% certain our friends who work there cannot enjoy it with us. Apres Cru has managed to turn a beloved (by locals, tourists, and passerbys) bar in Big Sky to a corporate nutcase that FEELS corporate and no longer feels like a real fun place or real bar. Now it feels like a glorified buffalo wild wings. While I love some B-Dubs, I love Tips Up much more. Recently since Apres Cru took over, private events run the pool table, more covers on events than ever before, and again, lack of social energy as the staff would come hangout and brina additional cheer. Apres Cru has managed to turn a beloved (by locals, tourists, and passerbys) bar in Big Sky to a corporate nutcase that FEELS corporate and no longer feels like a real fun place or real bar. Recently since Apres Cru took over, private events run the pool table, more covers on events than ever before, and again, lack of social energy as the staff would come hangout and bring additional cheer. it was wonderful to have a drink made by a favorited bartender and THEN to have drinks with them off shift. It's astonishing for a company to come in and think they know best without any input from those already working there or locals in the area. Big Sky has a fragile community balance and a company affecting us like this really jeopardizes the balance. Tips Up is the only bar on this side of town that manages to speak to all ages and backgrounds. Not just the upper scale of places like waypoint (Even waypoint manages a local feeling and their drinks, price points, and atmosphere is absolutely not that or a ski town sports bar.) I'd understand if the staff was being ridiculous or unprofessional but through many examples i have witnessed each of them showcase professionalism off the clock. Even going as far as helping remove heinous people from the bar just because their coworkers appeared stressed or ready to get a person out. They've removed locals cards, hiked prices on drafts and other drinks, don't allow their staff (the locals) to be apart of the bar scene off of work, and contributed to the destruction of our local community. I cannot count how many times this season I myself have left or have witnessed people leave due to this new company. It is simply no longer the same energy and it brings much sadness to us here. Nearly finished - they refuse to hire anyone. new whilst their staff very obviously struggles someday managing everything. I went in one day and there was 1 bartender and 1 server for the entire inside room and outside patio. if you've never been, that's a lot of steps during a lunch rush. Additionally, each table can hold a full family. Yet they refuse to hire anyone else to support their staff. All in all, the staff is still lovely. I adore each of them and am aware none of this is their fault. it's ANOTHER company coming into our town and trying to "fix" what isn't broke. The most ironic part of this is when Apres Cru came to town, someone told them, "Don't turn our Big Sky into your New York" "Oh trust us, we don't plan on it. We love the charm of this town" That was in November of 2025. Irony is a funny thing. if you're in Big Sky, give some sympathy to the staff for what they have to deal with. Tip the staff well for their troubles and then consider not giving your money to this disgraceful corporation. They also oversee Blocks 3 and Bucks so l imagine similar antics are happening at each of them. the salads are good tho. Cheers. G. Hanners.
