My favorite lunch, date, family Sunday brunch spot! Absolutely love the atmosphere, views and food !!!

My Mom made a reservation for she and I on a Friday night. When we pulled up to the office building I was confused, but she said, "trust me!" Up the elevators we go to the best view in town. Seriously, I was blown away. The inside is so chic and cute. Definitely worth for the 'gram. Our server was so helpful with suggestions and we decided to really indulge. Mushroom flatbread, goat cheese stuffed dates, and a lobster ravioli were split among us. The Boss Lady cocktail was so good (loved the candied ginger), and unique. I really appreciated the upscale classics that are featured at Cafe 44. You'll find dishes that your familiar with that have a slightly unique twist. For dessert we had to have an affogato and the espresso was heavenly. I loved the comfy chairs and all of the décor. This would be a perfect brunch spot too. It's a tad intimate and if you have one loud party nearby, you're likely going to be in on their conversation. Unfortunately that was the case for us this night. However, I think Cafe 44 has some plans for expansion which would be amazing and a potential solution to this predicament. read more

I've been to Cafe 44 a few times now and each time I have enjoyed it. I've done work on my laptop, had meetings here with colleagues and brought my hubby in today for breakfast before my flight out. I am really impressed with not just the restaurant's view that everyone talks about but the service we receive from Chantal. Chantal was my server for my meeting and she remembered me and the meal that was ordered. The food arrived hot. Our water glasses filled in a timely manner. Table incrementally cleared. She reminds me a lot of myself when I was a server though college. Once a server, always a server and we look out for bullet points like I mentioned. You can't find service like that anymore - so I thought. It's nice to know that people pay attention and that we're not just another table. Thanks Chantal. read more

Great brunch, drinks and view over the Potomac. Make reservations. It's usually bustling.

This restaurant has really nice views, it can be hard to find but worth it. It's located in an an office building, but the restaurant space itself is very modern and open with outside patio seating overlooking the Potomac. I came for brunch and the menu offers a lot of options, I ordered the Avocado toast which was very good. The drinks menu offers several types of mimosas and other options, coffee if ordered comes with unlimited refills. Service was attentive, drinks were refilled and questions answered. Even though this is a bit out of the town center, it is really worth the visit for the wonderful view! This place is the absolute worst place I've been. 10/10 would not recommend. The service was absolutely terrible. Waited 45 mins for the check to be incorrect, literally the server didn't come back to the table. This is ridiculous. I haven't dined at this restaurant, but when I called to make a reservation for a farewell celebration, I spoke with Hannah who was obviously very busy because she sped through the call, thanked me and ending it hastily. When I called back immediately and asked to speak with a manager, I was shocked when she answered and said that she was the manager. "YOU are the manager!?" I asked. I told her my concern and ended the call after receiving an empty apology. Had this restaurant not been requested by the guest of honor, I would have cancelled the reservation. read more

All of the food we had was absolutely delicious. I didn't have one bad thing. I came with a group of 4 and we all Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The bartender Dan was super friendly and made the best cocktails I've had in a while. Our server was pleasant and lovely and very attentive. If I could give a half star, I would. Service is terrible, annoying Management , a waitress that never came back. I waited 50 mins for my order to be taken and it took over 40 mins to get the food after i got the food, No one ever once came to the table to ask if we needed anything else. No one seems to care. Came here on a Sunday to have brunch with family. This was my first time here, I liked the roof top water front ambiance made it feel refreshing and relaxing. I believe you have to make reservations or it would be better to make reservations to guarantee a spot; the cafe is a bit small and stayed busy. Im thinking because it was busy our food took a while to come out and our waiter was not very attentive (but was very nice lol) and had to be asked twice for some of our requests. Once we got our food some of our sides were not warm and food was okay. I would like to come back and try dinner and hoping for a better experience. read more

My husband brought me here for lunch recently and this restaurant was absolutely adorable! The decor was chic and I loved how they incorporated bottles of Veuve into the tablescapes. The weather was nice so we sat outside overlooking the water. I had the garden truffle flatbread, crab dip, and some of his lobster roll - everything was delicious and well seasoned! To drink, I tried their lavender lemonade and peach fizz mocktails. They were the perfect amount of sweet and not too overpowering. Our service was also excellent. Second time dining at Cafe 44 and with our fabulous server Alex! Not only did she remember what I ate the first time, which yes I ordered again as an appetizer, she is a kind and lovely person! My husband and I left disappointed after requesting them to give us a table outside or next to the window because we had made a reservation and there were plenty other tables open. I've been here twice in the past month and both times were great. The vibe is really cool and unexpected. Walking through a business office and then right into an oasis that feels beachy and light and summery. The space isn't all that big but it feels airy. The first time I ordered the cafe breakfast plate with eggs, grits, bacon and a homemade biscuit. My sister had the shrimp and grits. We shared the deviled eggs and had both the key lime pie and salted brownie for dessert. Let me tell you how freaking good their grits are!!!! Like what!! They're creamy and flavorful and just so delicious. Whatever sauce they put on the shrimp and grits. I didn't catch the servers name but she was nice. The second time we had Joe and he was awesome! He had great energy and checked on us all throughout our time there to make sure we were good. Just great customer service. I will say that the food this time wasn't all that great, BUT the view in the patio and the customer service made up for it. Tony also left a lasting impression. He was so cool and pleasant and shared a conversation with us about COVID-19 and the dining experience. It's really the little things that they are doing right that make everything better. read more

To sum up our experience-great ambiance, great food and great service. My party of 3 had a wonderful Christmas Eve experience at Cafe 44. The owner greeted us upon entry. The breakfast burrito, cafe breakfast, and the shrimp and grits were all very tasty. Our server, Q, was exceptional. He was very attentive and anticipated our needs. You can tell this guy takes his job seriously. This guy should be a manager if he isn't already. We appreciated his top notch customer service. We were in and out of there within an hour and 10 minutes. Can't wait to visit again. read more

We went for brunch and chose an outdoor seating spot. We sat at one of the high tops and had the best view. Did the $30 brunch option, which is actually such a steal depending on what you choose. Also our server Alyssa was the sweetest and incredibly friendly. I could literally feel her smile through her mask. If the view and great food wasn't enough, I'll definitely be back just for her! Horrible service. We were here for almost 4 hours because they were so slow. They ran out of biscuits and all potatoes. We came here for restaurant week and at first were so excited. It's located in an office building but the view is stunning ! The eggs Benedict came out cold and the apple chicken sausage. The sausage was gross and nothing about it tasted like apple. The Benedict was also just off the English muffin was so hard and the eggs cooked too much. My drink was terrible I got the Hot Toddy. Partially my fault Bc I was trying a new drink. The only thing I really liked was the salted caramel bar and the sorbet was decent. The place it's self is adorable so I wish the service was better, that they would be fully stocked, have warm food and improve their cooking. Great cafe in a fantastic location that overlooks the Potomac and a good view of national harbor, mgm and the bridge. I could see myself visiting this place in warmer climate. Me I also a skeptic of anything food related in Alexandria. So I ordered the waffle and it comes with eggs and crispy bacon for the price of $15. What I got was maybe... One or two eggs scrambled. Very moist. Crispy bacon to the point they were crumbling. Waffle is extremely thin and dry. I wish I took a photo but the visual is simple... Imagine the free continental breakfast that Hilton and Marriots offer. Worth visiting... Because of the view. Definitely avoid the waffle dish as there is better next door at Perks. read more

I came here because I hear great things about through a friend. Jeremy was amazing, and his customer service was impeccable. Let me tell you my experience with the owner Julie; she should not be in the hospitality business because she doesn't know what that is. First, she removed a fan facing our table (keep in mind it is 95 degrees outside). Second, I told her we have been waiting for our drinks since the beginning of our meals, and we had finished already; we were ready for our check. At that moment the drinks were coming and she sends them back, 5 minutes later while we were paying and she tried to send the drinks back. I never felt so disappointed, disrespected, and humiliated by an establishment especially by the owner. She was also screaming from about 3 tables away from us. This place will never get my business or any of my friends. To Jula: I respect your take on the situation however I would appreciate it, if you stuck to the facts. The "complimetary" drinks were being shoved down our throats as if that was our objective. We came to your place of business to have a good meal with friends and to contribute to the economy during these tough Covid times. We support local businesses; I have been in lots of great restaurants and establishments but have never experienced the level of disrespect that I experienced at Cafe 44. My experience at Cafe 44 was very nice, but there is always room for improvement and during the COVID-19 it is sometimes a challenge. We were greeted by our server with a nice hello and she took our drink order. My date ordered a tall Vodka and soda and I ordered a club soda and lime. My dates drink arrived within a minute and my club soda followed 10 minutes later with me having to flag down our server. I understand that keeping orders straight can sometimes get crazy, but to forget my drink when there are only a dozen guests in the restaurant...well...you be the judge. We both ordered cobb salads - 1 with chicken and 1 with shrimp and they cam out quickly with dressing on the side. I asked for another side of dressing and it never arrived so I just said forget it. Again, it was just a side of dressing and it's not a hard memory game especially when there are a dozen customers in the cafe. Lastly, I am a guy who believes that servers earn their tips, and when the final bill has it already figured in when the service was less than great I have an issue with it. I know your industry has been hit hard and the servers have been especially hit, but now is the time to really step up the service and it just was not there...BTW I added an extra tip because I know how things are and I am fortunate. That is why I wrote this note so management can just reinforce the importance of great service because when all this COVID madness is over people will be a heck of a lot more critical - I like Cafe 44 and I will come again and again. I am a guy who loves to see things get better and I am sure you guys will do that. I manage a lot of people and I am a guy who encourages others to do better and my teams always respond well to this. Cafe 44, is a lovely coffee house and cafe. The views are amazing and the staff is too notch. A true lovely addition to the Old Town area. The coffee and champagne is truly amazing! Excellent selection of champagne and some of favorite brand #yellowlabel ! Sandwiches here are fresh and feature tons of variety and healthy options for those watching there weight. The design is very simple and clean and modern yet chic. It blends with with the local atmosphere. Will be a regular of this venue, since it's walking distance from home. If you are trying to go to this restaurant it's important to know that it is in a office building passed some train tracks. So, no, you're not lost LOL. This restaurant would look so cute on the streets of DC but I'm not complaining because I enjoyed my experience. I ordered the curry chicken salad toast. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was so good! Our waiter was quick and prompt. The view is amazing and will be really great for a first date. The only reason why I gave it four stars is because there weren't any Covid precautions. This restaurant is in a huge office building so you have to go through some doors and take the elevator to get to it. By that time I really wanted to wash my hands. I was able to but I had to touch everything the sink, the paper towel to pump it out, the door handle. It's an an office building so that's not so much their responsibility but it's part of their location so.... I would still recommend this place though. Was there for happy hour. The specials were good, the food was great, and the view was amazing. All the employees were great. The only reason why I don't give it a five starts is because I was going to take a group of 9 people for a special b-day celebration and they require a minimum of $450 consumption at the table for parties of 6 or more. The ambience of Cafe 44 was nice. It was quiet and we had a beautiful view by the water. The servers were very attentive to us and our requests. Not that we had a lot of requests but the things that we did need they were on top of. We did make a reservation so we didn't have to wait at all. On our way out I could see that the brunch rush was coming in. We went on a Sunday around 10am, so I definitely would suggest making a reservation if you're going at a time when you know it's going to be multiple people. Other than that, everything was great. OMG! I've now been to two events here a year apart and service/ food/ ambiance just keep getting better! An indication of a great restaurant is a cheery staff. They were just as excited for our event as we were. And not an act, the bartender knew what had been successful the last time the hosts held an event and planned this event around that.
