It's pretty good location. We wait pretty long for the host. He took us the table where we want... We ordered ahi Tuna, buffalo shrimp and half dozen oyster. Oyster was pretty good. Rest of it was ok. The balcony was good

Byron was an excellent waiter - professional, kind server and very efficient. Perfect stop after a bike ride!

You can't beat the Fish Market's location at the end of King Street, and the vibe is exactly what you want from a classic, historic seafood restaurant. It has that perfect mix of casual, friendly, and delicious. I recommend sitting outside under the umbrella-covered tables for a beautiful atmosphere and great people-watching. The service is fast and reliable, and the menu has all the seafood favorites. My personal go-tos are the Caesar salad with salmon and the ahi tuna starter, both always fresh and flavorful. Whether you're stopping in after a walk along the waterfront, coming for brunch, or settling in for dinner, this is a great spot.

My friends and I decided to grab a bite to eat after our bike ride. We freshened up, changed clothes, then decided to pedal our bikes to dinner versus 4 separate vehicles paying for garage parking. Lots of options, but we landed at Fish Market. It was my first time visiting but my homies went on & on about the HH deals and peel & eat shrimp. We arrived around 5:30. It was a nice warm evening & Fish Market has a descent sized outdoor dining area where we could keep an eye on our bikes & people watch. However, the server informed us that we could only take advantage of HH specials inside. Me: Why can't we take advantage of the HH specials out here again? That's the policy. You must be inside, but you guys can leave your bikes out here & go inside. We all started laughing & respectfully declined. We ordered several items but didn't go crazy since we had to ride our bikes back. We shared mozzarella sticks that were huge & had a nice crunch on the outside. The peel & eat shrimp were served in some sort of delicious buttery sauce with fresh herbs which had my palate doing backflips. I enjoyed my shrimp tacos too. Looking forward to trying more in the future.

Got a table on a weekday evening without reservations. The clam chowder was hot and good. The crackers seemed off. The tacos were good.

My boyfriend and I checked Fish Market out on a whim as we looked for restaurants surrounding King Street. We went in a little after 7 pm, and were immediately seated. They have a good selection of seafood and pasta dishes. I was torn between the Cacciucco and the shrimp po boy. The waitress told me both were really good choices, but she would recommend the po boy. I took her recommendation, and got it with sweet potato fries as a side. I also had the clam chowder to start. My boyfriend had the salmon with rice and rainbow carrots. The food came out in a decent amount of time. I loved the clam chowder. It was creamy, hearty, and a nice size to start. Then, the po boy was full of shrimp, ripe tomatoes, and crispy lettuce. The fries were really good and I couldn't finish them because the sandwich itself was very filling. My boyfriend enjoyed his salmon, but the rice, itself, was pretty bland and needed some seasoning to flavor it up. Overall, we both enjoyed and would return.

Great food and great service! Stopped into Fish Market for a quick bite to eat after an evening out in Old Town. Angel was an amazing server and was able to explain all of our questions about the menu. The calamari was tasty, the only con is I wish they had Asian Chili sauce instead of the spicy mayo and salsa offered. For the main entree, I ordered the Seaside Pasta. I honestly was underestimating how filling it would be but I had more than enough to take home and it was super tasty! I'm a fan of a hint of spice, so if you're like me I'd ask for them to add spice (which I did, but they forgot to add it). The friends I visited with also enjoyed their meals and I'd definitely be back to try a few other options in their menu.

    fish n' chips: beer-battered alaskan cod fillets with captain's fries & slaw = $28

Fish Market Restaurant is the perfect place for a pit stop when you spend the afternoon exploring the waterfront. We started off with a dozen of their local oysters ($32) and they were so good, we ordered another dozen. I usually prefer a smaller, brinier oyster, but these were so sweet and bite size. Oysters are just oysters sometimes, but these were remarkably good. Whatever is in the local water is clearly producing the sweetest oysters. To break up all the oyster eating, we also shared: -clam chowder ($9) -fish n' chips ($28): beer-battered Alaskan cod fillets with Captain's fries & slaw Both were exactly the kind you'd expect to eat at this type of establishment. Good, standard All-American seafood fare. There was no wait when we dined around 5:00PM. Easy in and out. Perfect afternoon snack.

The Fish Market was enjoyable. I loved the outdoor seating. The food was good but the menu wasn't anything special, with many fried options. I enjoyed the FRIED TROUT. It was delicate and tasty, with a light breading. The lemon cream sauce made the dish. It was buttery delicious! We really enjoyed the outdoors seating. They have huge space indoors and can handle many large parties simultaneously. It appeared to be a common spot for school groups. We saw three or four come out, each with dozens of students.

Benches like church pews, and still the place is packed for brunch!

This is a great spot for families, or to meet for a drink and bar food. It's good for large groups: There are two rooms. Although the crab cakes, the clam chowder, and the fresh oysters were fantastic, the lobster bisque was disappointing: It was full of lumps of cornstarch, and the flavor was of onions. There's a public parking garage right around the corner, which is outstanding!

Closeup of the Small Fries (3/5 stars- the fries I was given were NOT fresh)

The reason for 3 STARS instead of 5 is for the service. The Fish Sandwich itself was 4 stars- the only thing wrong was it was kind of bland. As you'll see in the photos, the fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. I told my friend that it would taste better with more pickles and more tartar sauce. He encouraged me to speak to the bartender, Jimmy. I didn't even get a chance to order these additional items because my conversation was DISMISSED because I led with "Can I get a different order of fries because these are not fresh." Jim the bartender literally rolled his eyes at me and took them off my plate quickly! He then told the female bartender what I said and she looked over at me with disgust! (WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CUSTOMER'S EXPERIENCE MATTERS???) I understand how Jim the bartender might have been confused because I had stepped outside after ordering my food. It had been sitting on the counter for about 10 minutes before I came back inside. I DIDN'T SAY THE FRIES WERE NOT HOT... I said they were NOT FRESH. (I didn't get a chance to further explain before Jimmy snatched them from my plate!) When eating steak fries, you can eat the lightly browned soft ones OR the dark colored crunchy fries: I received the latter. To be fair, Jim began the interaction with me as so helpful and friendly while explaining the menu. That friendly side disappeared and a cold pissed off one remained. So let me get this straight, it is okay for staff here to treat people with disdain when they inquire about their food??? Granted I ordered food in the bar section, but shouldn't mean the service is less understanding or attentive than the restaurant side. As far as the ambiance; there were MANY regulars... Maybe next time they should treat new patrons just as well so they would want to return.

Top notch food and service! Stopped in for happy hour and it was great! Servers are friendly and the seafood is fabulous! I tried the peel and eat shrimp and mussels. Both were amazing! Shrimp were cooked to perfection and had a flavorful seasoning. The mussels were small and tender. Loved the garlic red sauce they were swimming in. lol. I highly recommended stopping here while visiting Alexandria.

It was delicious and the cheddar grits were good too. Paired together, it was a good portion size and the price was reasonable considering the amount of crab. My only slight complaint is there were a handful of small crab shell bits in there. I also tried the Fried Green Tomatoes ($11), which were pretty good as well. The place itself has a nice chill cozy vibe with an old fashioned wooden theme. There are 2 levels to the restaurant with a bar on the upper level. Um their sandwich wasn't horrible but I wouldn't get it again. They should of had some tartar sauce with it... the fries were actually pretty good. My hunnie opted for an old Fashioned smoked with his fav Angel's Envy Rye and I tried the Balanced Algorithm. My drink was a bit toooo sweet!! Reminded me of a holiday drink lol but it was good. The "East Side" one of the bar tenders made was refreshing and delicious too! I really enjoyed this cocktail. It was giving Green Juice from Cabo with a shot of Hendricks lol For dinner my husband ordered the lamb chops. The lamb chops were fatty...not so much meat on them...however he said the flavor was good from what he was able to cut around. I ordered the mushrooms lasagna and it was just OK...very bland...& lacked flavor... The noodles were also a bit over cooked. I wasn't expecting crispy noodles. The sides were very good. We went with Brussels sprouts minus the bacon and the roasted sweet potatoes. Was a perfect date night. Perfect restaurant for date night, girls/guys nights out... Check them out! I'm glad we did.
