Cute little place. I don't have any photos today because it was super packed with students (back to school?) and I didn't want to look like a giant creep. But, Cafe Ah-Roma is a sweet little watering hole off BW's campus. I found this cafe after searching my Yelp app before a meeting in Middleburg Heights. I needed a quick sandwich and drink, and Cafe Ah-Roma lured me with its sweet name. The place is truly no-frills. It has old school decor, and feels a bit like an old aunt's house. It's a quaint little coffee shop, but I'd probably come here more often if I lived nearby. I picked up a quick chicken salad sandwich and a pomegranate Italian soda to go. The prices on their lunch menu are rudely inexpensive -- it's a super economical lunch stop. The coffee menu is also surprisingly large! I get why students love this place. I hear they also do a killer breakfast. Everyone in the cafe was super welcoming, and I can get why it's a neighborhood favorite! Just keep your expectations realistic. Don't be that guy who comes in asking for a super fancy no foam-bla-bla-bla-skinny-bla-bla (can you tell I'm not a fancy coffee drinker?). A regular cup o' joe will be just fine here, and totally will fit their bill. read more

I enjoy it here, mostly for the atmosphere. While the ambience is good, the coffee is even better. Typically they have soothing classical music playing which creates a nice setting to enjoy your drinks. The only problem I have here is that the coffee is a little pricey. However, it is worth it. Just make sure you get some water with your drink; it can be a little overbearing. In summation, you'll enjoy your time here. read more

Have enjoyed this place since it opened many years back. Food is Generally good. They changed coffee brands a few months ago, the present one is not nearly as good. Service usually good but many new staff now and old manager Brian has moved to a new location resulting in less friendly and warm service. Guys. They have dairy free whipped cream. With that alone, I could just walk out and give them 4 stars. But there's more awesomeness, and it comes in the form of their incredibly personable baristas, their delicious drinks, and their cozy atmosphere. This place is anything but pretentious, yet my latte was one of the best I've had. I also overheard some cool old guy in a smashing leather jacket tell the barista that his cappuccino was so exceptionally good that he just had to order a latte. That sounds like a win to me! I'm so glad to have found Cafe Ah-Roma after my chilly winter hike in the Rocky River Reservation, and I'll be glad to return next time I'm in the area, possibly to sample their delicious looking sandwich and wrap menu! read more

It's been awhile since I've been in, but I found the coffee to just be ok and the prices a bit high. I was a little disappointed as this was a favorite place of mine in high school. I'll have to give it another try next time I'm in town and see if things have changed. read more

I meet a co-worker here for one of my jobs about once a month. All of the employees have always been friendly and assisted me in what I have a taste for. There is usually a decent lunch crowd in there, however I've never had to wait in line, or wait long for my drink. The food looks and smells good, however I have never gone for a meal. I've always thought of it to be comfortable, but I also just like Berea a lot, especially their little downtown area. The mass of windows on two walls is a plus, especially if it's one of those days where we see sunlight. read more

I really like this place. The vegan bar was delicious. I detected cranberries, oatmeal and cinnamon in the bar, among other ingredients. I also had a caramel-vanilla steamer which was tasty. The best reason to come here is the people though. The three individuals who were here when I came to Cafe-Ah-Roma were Brian, Matt and Sarah. They were all very kind and willing to help me when I got lost and missed my Hebrew tutoring session. read more

Cafe Ah Roma has become a Berea institution with an interesting mix of patrons. You will find everything from high schoolers to octogenarians here with a smattering of BW faculty and students. The food is above average for the money (it would be hard to spend $10 for a meal) and a few items are consistently very good. Try the chicken salad either as a salad or as a sandwich or wrap. A half wrap is as much as I choose to eat and with a bag of the excellent Miss Vickie's chips and a cup of coffee you are at about $6. The cranberry turkey wrap is also very good. If you want anything with roast beef, ask to see it first. The coffee is Red Cedar and very good if not very strong. If you sit outside, it is very easy to meet people and fall into conversation about nearly anything. The wifi connection is faster than most. All in all, good value and as pleasant an atmosphere as can be expected in what was originally built as a Marshall's Drug store, morphed into Manhattan Bagel and then Cafe Ah Roma. read more

I was in the area and it had been awhile since my last visit (which was so so the first time) but I was in a rush and it wasn't busy so I thought to give it another try. I'm sorry but this place is dirty looking, same old furniture and the self serve refrigerated section very unappetizing how dirty it is. The wrap I ordered barely and I mean barely had any hummus on it. I spent 8.00 for a wrap and a bag of chips only to be left dissatisfied and still hungry after my visit. The ONLY enjoyable part about this place is the outdoor seating and that's if there aren't groups of older people smoking their butts off! read more

Don't usually do coffee shops. I don't play Dungeons and Dragons, and I don't need a 3.75 coffee drink. I make a pot of coffee at home, like a normal person. When I'm a hip, jet-setter I will go more often, I guess. I had some time to kill in the neighborhood so I stopped and got an iced jobby. Kid said it was toddy..I like toddy, I think. Great little spot to rest n relax. WIFI. Nice place downtown Berea. Usually pretty quick service. Indoor and covered outdoor seating. Recommendation : Hot or Iced Oregon Chai with whipped cream and cinnamon is the best. Great for any fall evening. read more

Most of my friends in college worked here at some point. If it wasn't for that, I would not go here. I think a lot of people have a dream of opening a coffee shop. People like to think about how chill and cool they would make it. (Think Bela Dubby or shit. Starbucks). But Cafe Ah-Roma looks like a cafeteria. I don't know how they screwed it up, but they did. I never felt like I was hanging out in a cool coffee shop here. It sort of reminded me of B-W's Cyber Cafe. read more

A warm and inviting cafe, peopled by a lot of BW students studying on laptops etc. when I was there, due to it's proximity to campus. I went there for coffee, and returned for a quick bite not long after. Well, if it's beverage (nonalcoholic) or coffee drink you want, this is the place. Actually, practically the ONLY similar place in the area. They serve a very limited menu, consisting of three or four sandwiches and maybe a couple of soups, bagels and a few desserts. I ordered just the chicken salad sandwich, which was so poor I actually took it home to add more (a LOT more) mayo. Additionally, and unforgivably, there were a few "gristlies" in it. The bread, while good whole wheat, was sliced much too thick. Given this experience, I won't be returning, not for food, anyway. read more

The food is good and so is the atmosphere, but the one thing they should do well at a coffee shop, make coffee, is lacking. Their coffee drinks are mediocre and the fake blob of chemicals that passes for whipped cream that they use to top off your coffee drink is disgusting. Used to enjoy this place. Gone way down hill based on today's visit. Way over priced, food has to be redone as it was wrong, tasted bad and ice tea was very old. Plus, people behind the counter were making jokes to each other about Ebola while people are trying to eat. Probably not coming back. read more

I've driven by this place many times and yesterday a friend pointed it out to me. I got an egg & bagel sandwich made with extra love and a vanilla latte. My no foam latte was made correctly (most places just add less foam) and it was -dare I say it- tastier than my usual Starbucks latte; not as strong, but tasted better. Parking is limited on Bridge, but you can swing around into the Giant Eagle parking lot. read more

I love this place. It's welcoming, warm, friendly, alive. The regulars pretty much sit up here all day and soak in the good coffee (with heap .75 refills) and atmosphere. My favorite thing to get is their tuna salad or their hummus wraps. I have been coming here for years and with the personal staff and great food I'll keep coming back read more

Wow, what a secret gem in a little shopping center. Stopped to get coffee and decided the wraps looked good. Great service, friendly staff and good coffee. We awaited our wraps to see what the surprise would be and BANG, great taste and just enough for lunch. I had the chicken club wrap and my wife had the spicy chicken. It was perfect for my wife and I before our walk at the park. In fact, we picked up our son at BW and he was hungry so where did we wind up for late lunch for him? Yup, back at Cafe Ah-Roma. He had the spicy chicken wrap which he inhaled in no time at all and, yes I had another Latte. Definitely a place to return to in Berea. I used to go here to pick up wraps and soup for lunch. Today , winter 2009, i.e. H1N1 flu/cold/you- name-it season, in the middle of a germy flu-ridden college campus, the guy makes my sandwiches with one hand gloved, the other hand BARE. Um, seriously? What's the point? I just saw you man the cash register, handle papers, do numerous tasks with that ungloved hand and now you are making my food? And then right before he cuts the wrap in half, he dons the other glove. WTF?!?! I didn't feel like making a scene (my mistake) since the guy, who I believe is the owner, was too busy talking to his buddies, but I went and threw the whole order in the trash, and I'll never go back there. Making food in this day and age without proper sanitation measures isn't just careless, it's inexcusable. read more

The food is over priced. The servers are not cautious enough handling the food. The coffee is weak and bland. The atmosphere is like a cafeteria, often the carpet is dirty, the bathroom is often dirty, and behind the counter where the servers are is atrocious. The staff are inconsistent and when I was going their they stood around chit chatting with their friends, and announcing their personal business to everyone within ear shot.
