Cafe Alsace is a very cute French restaurant in Decatur square! We came for date night and I called ahead to see if they would take a reservation, but they only do parties of 4 or more. We ended up taking one of the last tables, so I would definitely recommend getting here earlier in the night! We started with the bread and cheese board and tbh that was definitely the worst part of the night. I ended up not being a fan of 3/4 cheese, but I did really enjoy the bread. I had the beef bourguignon for my main while my fiance had the ratatouille with sausage. Out of the two, the beef bourguignon was the favorite! We ended the night with a crème brûlée that was really good. There's a lot of character in cafe Alsace and it's a very cute place for date night, and I'd definitely come back if I'm ever craving French food.

Honey and lavender ice cream--on the regular desert menu.

The ambiance in this place was delightful--low lighting and a romantic feel. We went on a weeknight and received excellent service. My partner had a mushroom pasta special that was quite good, but for me the highlights of our meal were my ratatouille and a baked brie, peaches and brioche appetizer special! Highly recommend if in the ATL/Decatur area.

Boef bourguignon- already half eaten before I remembered a picture! Large portion!

We love this place for a date night! It's very small and doesn't take reservations for 2, but we've gone twice and have shown up by 6pm and have gotten a seat no problem. The bread is very fresh, we've ordered the Nage de saint jacques- essentially a seafood broth with scallops/ shrimp and fish. Very good and flavorful. We've also ordered the boeuf bourguignon, like a beef stew with spaetzle pasta. Would recommend if looking for a great French place!

If you love French food you're going to LOVE Cafe Alsace! A tiny little restaurant in the heart of Decatur, with the best French food ever. Perfect date night spot! My husband and I had the bread plate, the chicken cordon bleu, and he had a special they were offering that night. (Pictured below) Even the drinks were amazing! 10/10 recommend!

What a quaint cafe in Downtown Decatur, GA! Mom lives about a block away so we walked over on a drizzly morning around 11:15 am. They open at 11:00 am, it was Saturday. There was already a table seated inside and we chose to sit on the sidewalk, under the awning. How perfect. 5:00 pm somewhere & 11:30 am in GA, so a glass of $15 wine seems fitting! A belated Mother's Day lunch, after all. Started with a beautiful salad, escargot and pate- all absolutely DELISH!! Our server was kind and very soft spoken. Was fun to sit out & watch some sort of wedding party (we assumed) parade walk by with varous white boxes & trinkets. A beautiful parade of young girls dressed in their fairy dresses- wondered what that was about. A healthy vibe of goth & dog walkers, hand holding... so fun! Oh, the food. We were relaxed & the 2nd wave of great food came. A rustic artichoke quiche, French onion soup & tomato soup. So lovely!!! We ate until we were satisfied, got a to go box & walked around the cute stores for a while. A nice day! You need to go & take a moment to relax. For 2 people with a good tip & those $15 glasses of wine was a little over $100. Bon Apetite!

I came in for lunch yesterday and I absolutely enjoyed my time. I had a wonderful hospitality and was seated right away. I love the ambiance totally chic and flowery decorated entrance and beautiful views. The food was good. I would come back for dinner and try more food. Thank you.

Don't pass up this little gem in the heart of Decatur. This is probably one of the only places that you will be able to order a Beef Wellington in GA. The decor is quaint like a country house or restaurant in the French countryside. I tried the chicken liver Pate with warm French bread and tiny pickles and I enjoyed it so much I took it to my hotel to finish the next day. The star here is the Beef Wellington, which is a was a perfectly cooked and extremely soft Beef tenderloin wrapped in pastry with mushrooms and served with green pepper corn sauce in a bed of potato gratin. It was exquisite! The server was attentive and I never had to wait for anything I needed. I recommend one of their red wine blends to pair with your food.

I have definitely have overlooked this restaurant. Came here kn a whim and had amazing delicious food. Especially the entrees and great service! The pate and escargot was alright but the pasta and pot pie like dish was amazing!

A pleasant dining experience with warm, homey, delicious food. The ambience is adorable. Feels like a cafe trottoir from France with a neighborhood and welcoming vibe. Not much space but i didn't feel that i was crammed. Food: Salmon Wellington: literally zero critiques. This dish is delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. The puff pastry was fully cooked and flakey without being moist or soggy from the salmon. The croquette was perfectly crispy and flavorful and i felt that the goat cheese sauce provided the perfect zing and tanginess that the dish needed. Would come back for this dish alone. Beef bourguignon: this dish was good but nothing complex. Heavy on the wine taste and very peppery. A heart stew with tender meat. A dish that i think could be made by many but solid nevertheless. Probably would not get again only because other dishes to try and it didn't blow me away. Duck confit: i enjoyed the orange glaze of this dish tremendously. It wasn't too sweet or overpowering but full of flavor. The duck itself was delicious but i felt that the surrounding skin was quite tough, I've had better cooked duck elsewhere but was not terrible by any means. Probably would not get again. Dessert: we got a pear pie with chocolate cinnamon ice cream. The pears were flavorful and the crust at first appeared to be too thick but ended up being light and flakey. A lovely neighborhood spot, will definitely return.

To start... cocktails and martinis with Blue point oysters!!! The crackers! And add the bread with that fabulous butter! Next up, the Duck Confit... a little cassoulet... amazing. Entrees- Dover sole, out of this world and beef Bourgogne like we were in France! The wine was lovely as was the entire experience. Probably one of the biggest whiplash-type experiences we've ever had in fine dining. From what we…read morethought it would be, to what it actually was, the whole experience felt like it was set up to be a scam. We were sat inside, in the way back corner, farthest from the door and, in a 90-minute span, we killed at least 10 fruit flies/gnats between us. It's a nice place too that looks very clean, but they had the front door open the entire time. At first, I was trying to be subtle about it, but about halfway through, I was clapping my hands in the air and wiping bug guts on the white tablecloth. They may have been coming from the window next to me, but it was a little off-putting to say the least. The server did pick up on this, but didn't offer a different table or to at least close the front door. We didn't make a big deal about it, but by the time the wine bottle was open, we were shooing critters off our glasses regularly. Our server, who was clearly not French, kept calling us monsieur and madame and the accent was so forced, it became real cringe real fast. Please stop making the servers pretend they're French. And to be fair, our server was great, none of this was on them, but the fake French posturing HAS to be derided by the staff, so this complaint is for THEM. Unless they are a.) FROM France or b.) fluent IN French, native English is fine and preferred. This is not a place for improv and you wouldn't make an Olive Garden server speak like Mario and Luigi. Maybe our server was into it, but it became extremely painful as the dinner continued to go downhill. For entrees, I ordered the rib-eye (which includes comp refills) and SO ordered the filet. When the filet came out, it smelled loudly like a barnyard. After a few bites from each corner, it was sent back. The smell could only be compared to cow poop, and I honestly can't believe the kitchen sent it out. $64 filet and I wouldn't have given it to a stray dog. No aging on the filet also--just a bad piece of meat they tried to pawn off on a guest. My rib-eye was small (understanding with the whole "free refills" thing) and not steaming hot, but the filet's odor was a bigger problem when the plates hit the table, so I just went with it. SO couldn't/wouldn't order anything else and I don't blame them. The meat was clearly bad, and it resulted in some minor gastro issues the following day, even after just a few bites. The manager did come to the table to apologize and offered a replacement, but SO was uninterested. Going back to my entree, the "frites" that came with my ribeye were a frozen product: those battered/orange fries you get from the drive-thru at Checkers. Gross and disappointing and this is where I felt like I was being scammed. I think they claim somewhere "twice fried in beef tallow" but I know a fast-food-style fry when I taste it/see it. Also, the plate presentation was just the ribeye and fries. No garlic aioli, no ketchup, no parsley, no lemon, no garnish. Chef clearly doesn't know the 3-color rule and considering the size of the cut, it looked like something you'd get at a diner with fried eggs (and the entree has a $59 price tag also). The refill was hotter and closer to medium, and I enjoyed it more than the first one, but I wasn't risking a third helping and didn't want to have to wait anyway with my SO sitting there with nothing in front of them. Ultimately, we grinned through all of it and stayed for dessert. How hard can that be? Well, the creme brûlée was either over-whipped or too eggy. More like a flan. Not awful, but it's didn't help the dinner at that point and it was the only item the SO was interested in after the filet debacle and it was just ok. You'd think the brûlée at a French bistro would knock your socks off, right? It was meh. I followed up with a call to the restaurant and left a message to speak with the manager who touched our table regarding the filet. Not looking for a refund and you couldn't pay me to revisit, but he should know that there were multiple failings that night, not just their attempt to sell spoiled meat.

Little trick is that if you decide to use the valet in the little square area, they will validate your parking. However, since it is located in Buckhead Village parking can be a challenge at times, however very cheap at two dollars an hour. This is significantly cheaper to downtown Chicago or any other section of Chicago equivalent to Buckhead Village where it is over $14 an hour on the street parking. Anyhow, let me say that Pedro our server was fantastic. He is so full of personality and courtesy and super patient with us. I've read many reviews to talk about slow service and I have to say it is not slow service. It is simply them telling you that they are not rushing you through a meal that is to be enjoyed in an amazing ambience. And they let you move at your pace, which is fantastic. You can tell by the photos we ordered quite a bit of food and everything was absolutely delicious as there were no leftovers whatsoever My only complaint about the place is first the velvet chairs and benches make it very hard to scoot on in or get off Further, you have to pay for bread service here, which I do not believe in. Considering the prices, the bread, even if it was minimal bread and butter should be complementary. I will definitely be coming back here again, whether there be this location or their other locations in the south or even New York This is a must stop and worth every penny!
