Cute place to hang out in Tenafly. There is another one in NYC...greenwich or so. I like this one's atmosphere more though. You can sit in an old fashion train station (really was on) and enjoy your amazing salads, paninis, etc. The waitresses I think are in HS? This is a great place to get treats since there are so many hand crafter beautiful treats and a wide variety of drinks to choose from. Prices are about the same as anywhere else that a nice brunch place or not a huge chain. It depends when you go since if the weather is good it might be super packed inside and with the outdoor seating. I don't really see this place as a dinner place but for lunch, meeting up with friends, lunch date with family/etc, great spot! read more

It's okay. We went for dinner and it was quiet (maybe two other couples). Most of the items on the menu were not available. It's more of a cafe place so maybe it's better during the day. Since most of the items weren't available i had an egg turkey bacon and cheddar cheese toast (croissant wasn't in stock). My boyfriend had a chicken pesto sandwich. It was empty and the waitresses were either on their phone or sitting down talking about randomness. Cafe Angelique is a quaint little train station-transformed cafe. Good coffee, recommend the cinnamoccino (cinnamon cappuccino) Friend had the mini mozzarella pesto sandwich, and it wasn't so mini and it came with a side salad, which was good. I ordered the almond brioche french toast. Total bust. Wasn't buttery like brioche, it felt like a slice of almond croissant. It was nothing like french toast. Super dry and crunchy. Name of the dish should be changed to almond croissant toast. Not a fan at all. If I were to ever return, it would probably be for the coffee. read more

The guy behind the counter is chill. Service is decent and prices are too. Just came for dessert. Their tiramisu is soft and not too sweet. Their americano is a nice and strong. Both went well together. And yes they have soy milk. You can sit in the dining area for table service but it didn't look inviting and wasn't well lit. The interior and ambience of cafe Angelique is perfect for a lunch and catch up sesh with friends. I stopped by with two of my girlfriends for coffee/ tea and dessert after our brunch and had so much fun. When you first walk in it looks more like a small bakery with their baked goods on display but when you walk past the doors the high ceilings, tall windows and paintings make it such a nice place to talk and share some desserts. My friends ordered an iced coffee and an americano. I'm not much of a coffee person so I got an earl grey tea with mint leaves. They had a number of desserts and the one we had was not available but we got the Fudge Bomb brownie that had vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on the side. It was delicious, very fudgy, yum. They had so many baked goods so you have lots to choose from. Their food menu is also very extensive. I definitely would love to come back for lunch to try out the dishes. From looking at the other tables food, their portion sizes looked big which is always a plus, because who doesn't want lots of food on their plate. Will definitely be coming back. read more

The food here is very good and the setting in a former train depot super charming, but the service is painfully slow. It shouldn't be. The place is fully staffed with at least half a dozen servers per shift, but I've never seen a crew more interested in socializing in my life. Don't get me wrong, I waited tables for ten years and one of the perks is being young and having fun with your fellow workers. But this team needs more hustle while on duty and to save some of the fun for after hours. This service here is typical for a staff comprised of surly, untrained millennials. The outdoor seating and atmosphere is so nice the food was amazing and for not having an oven in the kitchen I am impressed I have been there twice for breakfast and both times it was great came once for lunch and it was just as good ! I've been here twice and each time I order something else I enjoy it more! The icegelique beverage and the Belgian waffles with strawberries and bananas are my FAVORITE. I wanted to order regular bacon however they do not serve pork products which is fine as the turkey bacon was really good as well. The only downside is that there is no side of scrambled eggs. If you want unique blends and beverages made masterfully...come to Cafe Angelique. The baristas work efficiently and create delicious sips of happiness. Great pastries and desert selections. As long as you grab and go or order and siting the chairs in the front area and avoid the dining room; you will have a wonderful experience. The horrendously slow service in the dining room does not make it worth the high prices of the food and beverages. I encountered rude waitstaff and experienced tremendous aggravation while dining in. Once the coffee machine was broken, another the juice machine was broken or they didn't have fruits or something. I only came here for dinner, I don't know how it will be for lunch. (It seems that most of the people who come here are regulars for their lunch) The architecture truly is beautiful. Service is one of the worst I've ever seen. If it was just a cafe, it would be acceptable but not for a dine in restaurant. this cafe is awful. the service is terrible, their coffee is unacceptably bad for how expensive it is, and the deceptively inviting decor does not match the customer experience. nothing is fresh or made there. their soup tastes like Campbell's and their salads taste like they came out of the freezer and some dole packaging. i ordered an iced coffee that tasted like it was brewed two weeks ago. when i told the gentleman behind the counter that it was an awful cup of iced coffee, he gave me attitude and proceeded to ignore me and talk to another employee in a language i didn't know. i assume they were talking trash. my friend got a mocha that was milk and clumps of chocolate with hardly any espresso. for five dollars, a drink like that should taste good. their baristas aren't trained properly. if you are steaming milk for an iced drink, no one taught you how to do your job. i highly recommend that you avoid going here. you'd be better off getting a cup of coffee at a gas station or from a hospital emergency room vending machine. read more

The decor of the actual cafe is just alright... food was better (ie. lighter/healthier) than the diner across the street, but definitely not memorable in any way. This is a charming cafe, but don't come here unless you have a long time. We came around 1pm, and while there were plenty of tables, the service was excruciatingly slow. It took them 10 minutes to just get us water. Then it got worse from there. We didn't get our order taken for another 5 minutes, and it took over 45 minutes to get am order of French Toast that looked much better than it tasted. They had plenty of wait staff and once we received our food, we were told that they were having issues with the kitchen. Why not keep your customers informed if the kitchen is backed up? I enjoyed this place a lot. Especially because of the company. But it sits in such a beautiful location in Tenafly, I'm sure it used to be a train station many moons ago. The movie theatre is literally right in front of this restaurant. The building holds so much history, it almost makes the meal an afterthought. The inside decor, tables, and seating is vintage. Terrible, over priced place. Servers are very slow and don't inform you of a lot of things. Pastries are lack luster and never fresh. Cappuccino is just fine and there sandwiches and salads lack fresh produce. The only thing they having going for them is the location is beautiful as it was an old train station so it has a wonderful atmosphere. I'm a huge fan of Mediterranean cuisine but this place really surprised me as the one in the city is very very good. It's DIRTY- and not in a sense of crumbs on the floor, but the furniture is rotting, the cups are so foggy and old I wouldn't keep them in my own house, and there are bugs everywhere! The food is all pre-made so you can't change anything, they don't even make the pancakes & waffles from dough. And it's overpriced! Not just the entrees themselves, but any extras. oh you want mint? $1. Oh you want some Parmesan with your soup? $1.50. Oh jam with your toast? 75 cents... and, um, $1 for the bread. A few months ago, my girlfriend and I went to Café Angelique on a whim one Sunday for brunch. It's a quaint little restaurant in downtown Tenafly with an interesting menu that would suit anyone's pallet. I remember going, sitting in the inside area, and waiting absolutely forever for service, both for menus and drinks for also for our food to come out. Our server didn't pay much attention to us, and I had to walk over to where the servers were gathered to ask for a check. Despite the poor service, I can't knock the food - I had a lentil soup that was delicious and their coffee was brewed just right. Today, my girlfriend and I wanted to go to brunch again, and we decided to give Café Angelique another try. Despite it being the perfect day to eat outside, we decided sitting outside would result in slower service (which I didn't think could be possible), and so we bit the bullet and sat inside. Our table was not bussed - there were two cups of empty coffee and creamer. It took well over ten minutes of sitting at our table before I went up to a server and asked for a menu and beverages. She came over, took our orders for coffee, and then disappeared for a long time. I am not high maintenance at all, but when your guests have to follow up with you on whether or not your coffee will be coming out with the food or beforehand, it is taking way too long. When we finally got our food, I asked her to print the check and run the credit card because I was afraid of not seeing her again. My girlfriend and I both got the Belgium waffles, which were to die for. The waffles were perfectly cooked, the fruit was extremely fresh, and the whipped cream was rich and tasty. I just can't get over how absolutely awful the service is in this place. I desperately want to say I will never come back to this place again, but truth be told, my girlfriend and I both agree that we'll probably be making another appearance there. The excellent meals we've had coupled with the diverse menu will certainly bring us back. read more
