They made good coffee, but the pricing is always inconsistent when I go. I order the same thing every time but always end up with different prices. Also, this seems to be out of line with other reviews, but the baristas are rude whenever I go. Sometimes they don't stop talking amongst themselves for a minute or two before they acknowledge me and when they do they seem to act like I'm being an inconvenience to them. I could overlook the pricing problem if the baristas were nice, but that has not been my experience. read more

Never had coffee here before and it sounds delicious however I did just drive up because the sign said open. I pulled up and instead of opening a window and kindly saying sorry we are closed or anything both girls looked at me and shook their heads and ran their hands across their throat (like the universal "no more" sign) and it really struck me wrong. Open the window and say something. And because of this one small lack in customer service, I'm not inclined to return or recommend this place to anyone. I don't expect to get served after hours but I do expect to be treated decently. Now I'm at starbucks. read more

Found on my bank statement that the barista added a larger tip than I had put on the debit card receipt. They charge 50 cents if you use a card, the companies that process cards only charge about 3% in fees. I gave one of the baristas a ten and asked for a five and five ones so I could tip her, she gave me one $5. I can't recommend you go somewhere else strongly enough! read more

I LOVE this coffee stand. Seriously one of my favorite stops on the west side of Olympia. I will say though that during the busy times when they have more girls working my order is almost ALWAYS wrong. It seems like the baristas give men more attention, which I find to be pretty lame. I love this place. White coffee is my personal favorite and a lot if places around here don't have it or some reason. If you've never had it try it! Besides that I love the fact that they have all organic and local coffee. They have super nice and friendly baristas, and it's also a local business. The only reason I don't give them a 5 is because it seems like they make up the prices. I always get the same drink but every time I go there the price ranges from 3.50 to 6.50, I never know what to expect to pay. Still the best drive thru coffee shack around here! read more

We pulled in for a coffee this evening, not realizing the stand had already closed. Both drive thru windows were open, and there was a truck at the window. It appeared the truck was waiting for his/her order. Eventually the truck pulled away, and the we pulled up to the window. The barista come to the window and states "sorry I'm closed, that truck was my Dad"..... it would've been nice for her to the common courtesy to let us know (instead of seeing us sitting behind the white truck for approximately 5 mins/ while they were catching up). I felt it was rude not to have a sign closed sign visible to your customers AND mostly letting would be customers left sitting behind their family members while catching up. Two of the past three times I've been in, my mom's are my drink were made wrong. It was the same lady both times that made our drinks incorrectly. We order very simple drinks, a late with 3 shots, and a late made with almond milk, one shot, and a sugar free flavor. The first time this happened, I had to walk back over and ask to get our drinks remade, and I got no apology. Today, we watched as the lady made mine with regular milk and two shots, we told her it was supposed to be almond, and only one shot, and she remade it, thankfully with almond milk, but still with two shots, and my mom only got two as well. The lady was on the phone while making our drinks, and she had a very bad attitude. We stopped coming here for a long time because our drinks were inconsistent in correctness, and I guess time hasn't made things better. read more

I think the ladies that work in this stand are delightful. Friendly and always willing to help you. I have never had any major issues with my coffee. I have been going to Cafe Au Lait for years. I have never been unsatisfied. The drinks are always top notch and ifsomething is ever wrong, the girls will fix it happily with a smile. They have the best drinks in town by far and also the best quality products in my opinion. Cafe AU Lait always has different food and treat options too:) which is a must for me. I would highly recommend going here for your everyday coffee needs! It's an absolute must!!!! And it doesn't hurt that all the woman are rediculously sweet and beautiful!! read more

Today is Friday Feb 23rd. I am second in line at this coffee stand. I have been sitting here for 24 minutes to get a coffee. I pull up to the window....the gal apologizes for taking so long. Apparently the lady ahead of me had several drinks but the bigger problem was that there was only 1 gal working 2 drive thru Windows on a Saturday. My drink was great but not worth the 1/2 hour it took to get it. read more

I cannot believe how expensive my drink was today. I ordered a 16oz soy vanilla chai - the equivalent drink at Starbucks is ~$4 - the exact same drink at The Avenue espresso stand is ~$4. My drink today was $6.21...that is unacceptably expensive and when I said something, the barista told me she's always at least .5c cheaper than other locations - NOT TRUE. She told me I was paying .50c extra for soy and .50c per scoop of chai. How many scoops could possibly have been in a 16oz drink??!! I will unfortunately never come here again and will ensure others are aware how expensive this stand is... read more

Today will be mine , as well as my co workers last time purchasing coffee from Cafe Au Lait. Every Friday, our 3 coffee orders are always made wrong. The same young lady is always there at the same time every Friday. We've made comments in the past on how often this happens, but absolutely nothing has changed, except receiving the wrong drinks. On the up side, every other day we've visited, and this lady isn't present, our coffee is great. read more

I used to always go and see Hannah at Avenue Espresso in Lacey, but about 4 years ago, she moved into their new location in Centralia. Hannah made THE absolute best coffee around, and showed me what consistent, well pulled shots should taste like; she set the bar! When she left, I started searching high and low for a stand that could make a decent Americano. With no luck up to that point, I stumbled across Cafe Au Lait on my way to Target. I thought I'd give it a try, and crossed my fingers that I'd at last found a local stand that could give me my money's worth. Unfortunately, this was not the case. My Americano was bitter and burnt, and I ended up throwing most of it away. It doesn't matter how good of quality the beans are, if you don't know how to adjust the grind throughout the day, and tamp wtih the right pressure, those shots are coming out a hot mess. If I want an excellent Americano, I now drive all the way to Centralia for it. Espresso stand drinks are expensive, and I don't have money to waste on a terrible coffee. I'll never go back to Cafe Au Lait. read more

This is the only coffee stand near the Olympia mall, there's a Starbucks nearby but I'm not a fan of their coffee. So, needless to say I've tried this spot several times. We'll start off with the baristas..every time I arrive I'm greeted with a quick insincere hello. They ask for my drink but always seem in a rush and on it before my order is even complete. Sometimes the coffee is great, but mostly their drinks seem watered down or burnt. And while they're making your drinks, every time I've been there, the baristas are inside having conversations and not paying attention to the surrounding world: their customers. There had been a few girls there who were awesome and sweet and genuine, but didn't last I guess cause they didn't fit the quality the owner was looking for???? Today was the last time I am buying coffee from there, though. I'm into supporting small businesses, but I'm sure if ANY stand opened up nearby, this place would lose a lot of business. If you wanna be snotty, at least make great coffee. And if you make crappy coffee, at least be nice for gods sake. Being treated like an unwanted customer anddddd leaving with coffee that gives me sad face? No thanks. I'm gonna travel across town for cutters point. read more

This little place has everything you need for getting you set for the morning. The Baristas are so friendly and make great suggestions. They are beverage artists and make anything you want. They also have smoothie options. In addition they have all sorts of pastries and breakfast food items. They have a local baker bring in banana and pumpkin bread which is totally my go to. It is a free standing coffee spot and drive through only, so if there are a few cars in line it might take a few more minutes, but well worth it. I accidentally drove off without my debit card one time and to my surprise and relief, they still had it the next day. One of the baristas tried to run after my car‍ but I guess I was too focused on enjoying my pumpkin bread. Needless to say, this place has my vote. Oh, and they have a customer appreciation program. Sign up and sign in on each visit and earn a free drink on your 11th visit or something like that. Pretty cool! read more

I used to go to this store several times a week. However, I quit going because of the inconsistency. So last week I decided to give them another chance. A lady named Crystal was working and as always my coffee and service was excellent from this particular barista. Than I went one morning at 545am and they were closed but their hours say they open at 530am. So this morning I called their number to see what time they opened and the lady told me 7am. Only I get there and they don't open till 8am. I called the number back to explain to her my frustration and she found it humorous that she told me the wrong time. Than I proceed to explain that once again the inconsistency and lack of professionalism is why they have lost business. She responds with no we are not losing business. Wait a second...does my business not count? Because telling me false information lost my business not just this morning but for future too. I would never recommend this coffee shop to anyone if they don't care about us customers than why should we care about giving them business. read more
