Yesterday, my husband and I finally tried this place. I am so glad we did! I saw the Monte Cristo on the menu and questioned the waitress about it. I was surprised to hear it was made differently than I had previously been served. It was not dipped in batter and deep fried like all the ones I had before. I thought I would give it a try anyway trying to imagine if the absence of the crispy fried batter would take away much. The sandwich was served on French toast with the same ham and Swiss in the middle and raspberry sauce on the side. I have a new favorite! Although it was not crispy, it had the advantage of less grease meaning less distress to my stomach. My husband enjoyed his 1/2lb burger with great fries and some kind of jalapeño dip. The decor is INCREDIBLE! If you are a vet, know a vet or respect a vet, you will love it. The tables are labeled with the phonetic alphabet (tango, whiskey, foxtrot) instead of numbers. The pedestals of the tables were a replica of something that resembled some sort of large cartridge. The pictures, including the one in the ladies room were fun. Great Place! Food, Service, Atmosphere...top shelf. The music covers all eras, ... lots of swing...but also some from the VN war era, Had the gumbo first time... Best ever tasted. Had the daily blue plate special next time...ham and bean soup with cornbread... .superb soup and cornbread would melt in your mouth! Waitresses dress in WWII Rosie the Riveter garb, to include the makeup! My son and I are both vets and love the place. Try it! You won't be disappointed! I had the black and blue burger great food, large cut fries avg price for burgers not expensive not cheap...wife had chicken sandwich which was also very good amd a large serving with coffee in a grenade coffee cups...music was period music 50's...today it's a high of 13 degrees so somewhat cold when the door opens but that's to be expected on such a cold day...great staff and service read more

This restaurant is a great find! First they honor our military, that automatically creates an atmosphere of comfort and family! But let me tell you the food is amazing! Quality ingredients, amazing flavor, good variety,and more than satisfying portions. We love the jalapeño popper burger and the grilled bacon cheese salad. I had the salad with their homemade blue cheese dressing. That dressing is the best I've had since my dad's, who was a 5 star fine dining chef! Awesome place! It's good old fashioned diner food in a nostalgic atmosphere. I was impressed that the music that was playing was from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. My wife said the quesadilla was the best she's ever had! The Reuben is especially good, and they even used the words "Au Jus" correctly on the menu, unlike most places in the U.S. read more

What a great place to enjoy a good meal. Our group of 12 ladies had lunch here yesterday and it was awesome. Our waitress Amy was very good, always there when needed and if we requested something extra she was fast to get it for us, kept our drinks filled and the hot coffee hot for those who were drinking it. The food, Oh So Good, Started with onion rings and fried mushrooms, both were very tasty. Several of us had the classic hamburger, nice and thick and juicy served with all the trimmings. Others had the Ruben , Quesadilla and I don't know what else but they all said it was delish and to put this place on our regular list of places to go for lunch. The food is fantastic, I had a party of five guys and each one ordered something different. Absolutely no complaints, which is unusual considering one complains about everything. If I could take these ladies and the cook home to Idaho, I would. Again the food is fantastic and portions are good sized. The restaurant was not that busy, we waited 50 minutes and still hadn't been served. The waitress didn't really keep in touch with us. Several tables got their food before us, and they arrived 30 minutes after we did. We walked out after 50 minutes. Terrible service! Don't go here thinking it will be faster than Lambert's! Our family was driving through on our way home from Branson. We stopped at Lambert's and the wait was over an hour. We didn't think our 3 year old would be able to wait that long, so we decided to opt for what we though was a cute little diner across the street. Big mistake! It ended up taking well over an hour anyway. There were several people there with only a few empty tables, and it was clear the staff couldn't handle the crowd. One waitress even complained many times about being slammed (where we are from, a full restaurant is a good thing so we were surprised to hear the complaining.) Our food took over an hour to come out. We saw at least 4 tables that ordered after us get our food before us (some of them were even frustrated with the wait). When we asked why, our waitress (who was very sweet! The only redeeming quality of the restaurant, and the only reason I feel the restaurant even deserves one star), explained that she accidentally brought our food to the wrong table. When we were unhappy with this, a local girl at the counter threw a French fry at us. It missed, and landed on another table. When we asked her why she was throwing food, she stood up like she was ready to fight, and asked us if we "had a problem." We later heard her laughing about this with other employees who she was apparently friends with. I'm not from this small town, so I don't know if treatment like this is common, but we will definitely never return. When our food finally came out, there was several pieces of hair in my daughters grilled cheese. Very disappointing way to end an otherwise great vacation! read more

Excellent food. We had jalapeño popper dip as an appetizer. It was amazing. I had the French dip. The beef was cooked perfectly. No fat in the meat. The fries were fresh but. Very good as well. We came for supper. The music and diner style was very pleasant. Our service was prompt and courteous. The menus is somewhat limited. I chose a main entree. The main entrees includes two sides. The only sides available include a salad, baked potato, fries, potato salad or cottage cheese. I was expecting a vegetable option. I was told they do not have a side vegetable. I was disappointed. Went after seeing it on the local news. Really was not terribly impressed with the food. My wife ordered the Ruben and was really disappointed with the amount of corned beef, it had just a few little crumbles of the beef, she had a side salad and that was fine. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger and it was really over cooked, I had the hand cut fries as my side. The fries were thick hand cut but were undercooked. I really expected more for the price. I have had far better burgers for way under the 9 dollar price tag. My wife's sandwich was 9 dollars as well. My granddaughter had the chicken strips and honestly was better then our meals. The waitress was very friendly, the atmosphere is nice, but afraid if they continue with ho hum food at these prices don't see a long future. The 10% vet discount but honestly this is the first place that doesn't give you the discount on the entire bill. Looking for a good burger at a better price, Fudruckers is far better.
