Great little place to catch a home cooked meal, know for it's made to order fried chicken

Ordered the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with ham and beans.The meat loaf was so dry.There wasn't even a sauce on top and I'm almost positive it was microwaved. Extremely bland. Also , the ham and beans , no flavored didn't even eat that. The only thing really edible was the mashed potatoes in gravy , and it was just okay. I've tried this a few times in the past.And every time i've had the same experience , this is my last time. read more

I grew up coming here with my family. Over the years there have been times I've been underwhelmed by the food, but they have consistently had good prices and good service. I stopped by today to kill time and have some breakfast while waiting on some local businesses to open. I decided to keep it simple and get the ham and cheese omelet. They exceeded my expectations. The toast was fresh and well buttered, the hash browns cooked to just a little bit of a crunch, and the omelette was packed full of flavor and ham. There's not many places you can get a full meal for less than $10. I may have to make this a more frequent stop. read more

I should start by saying that this restaurant takes putting a couple visits under your belt before you can form an accurate opinion. On our first visit, it took a while to be greeted and it took forever to receive our food. I think we were there for two hours altogether on our first trip and we did not think that we would be returning. Fast-forward a few months and we came here because it was one of the few places open that had down home cooking, which we were wanting. I'm so glad we came again because it was such a great experience and we've gone again a handful of times since. I've had a few things here, but my favorites are their burgers, hand cut fries, the fried zucchini, and the lemon meringue pie. All of them are delicious. They also make a mean club sandwich, although sometimes they forget to cut it in quarters and just cut it in half. Not a big deal, but I personally prefer mine in quarters. The staff are friendly for the most part. There is one lady who I assume is the manager, who is almost always being rude to someone, whether it be her own staff or the customers. She always has something grouchy and negative to say, or she's belittling her staff in front of everyone. I personally would hate to work for someone like that. Hopefully she will have some joy in her life so she can turn things around. We can always tell when we get her on the phone for our call-in orders because she is the only one who is grumpy about having to type in the fact that we want to make a substitution for a burger topping. It's kind of sad that she stands out in this way, but that does not make it any less true. Anyway, the tables could use a bit of cleaning, especially the ones nearest the wall where there is dirt and dust. Aside from that, I really have no complaints about Rosie Jo's. It is one of our favorite places to eat in Ozark and we will definitely be back. read more

A quiet little family owned diner. Great food friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. I had the chicken fried chicken, it was perfectly cooked, crunchy crust juicy meat inside and the seasoning was on point. Creamy white gravy smooth mashed potatoes. Portions were nice sized and to finish the meal ice cream . Overall a terrific experience from a mom n pop diner. Will definitely be back. read more

Be prepared to wait if they are busy! Onion rings are totally worth the wait!!! We enjoy eating here when we are in the area! The fried pickles are delicious too. Grilled chicken sandwich was DRY. My husband enjoyed the chicken fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes & brown beans. read more

This is one of those "old school" diners that you can only really get in the Midwest now a days. I ordered the liver and onions, but failed to realize it was beef liver and not fried chicken liver, but our waiter brought me a few pieces; wish I had that instead!! Wife got chicken fried chicken and of course kid got tenders. All were great, and the ambiance as well as the food really gives it that "down home feel." I've gotta also say the brown beans really flashed me back to growing up here in the Ozarks.. It's also really nice that everyone gets a free scoop of ice cream. We sat for 17 minutes at the table until we received a menu. Total of 45 minutes at the table before we received the food. Ordered the daily special, liver and gizzards. Liver was good but gizzards were so tough I could not eat them. Complained to the waitress and she said I'll tell the cook. read more

Don't you just hate it when you have to go to work to a job you hate? What better way to communicate this than being super rude to customers and sighing deeply every time they ask for something, until the only way they get the message is to just stop swinging by their table? Oh, here's a tip: Quit! The food wasn't any better. The chicken fingers my daughter ordered as well as the fried chicken were like super moist between the skin and meat and not in a good way. More of a slimy gelatinous unidentifiable way that just tasted wrong. The wife liked her liver and onions but I just couldn't finish my meal. Fortunately I started with a slice of pie (the way all meals should be started) so I didn't walk out starving, the pie was pretty good but not enough to make me want to go back. Last night we were hanging out with some friends who used to eat there a lot but said they stopped going as well because the food was no longer great. Eating lunch at Rosie Jo's in Ozark was an absolutely wonderful experience. I had heard great things about their fried chicken and drove from Springfield just to try it. Our waitress was very friendly and remarked that the owner, Rosie Jo was the former restaurant manager at Riverside Inn where I worked one summer many years ago. Our waitress asked Rosie Jo to come out to meet me and my family and we chatted for 10 minutes. She said that her version of fried chicken surpasses the legendary chicken at Riverside Inn because of small changes in seasoning but most importantly Rosie Jo cooks her fried chicken to order so it comes out piping hot. When food is cooked to order it takes longer but our weight was well worth it. The four piece fried chicken lunch was delicious and incredibly hot! The meal came with two side dishes, toast and a side of ice cream. I recommended that Rosie Jo raise her prices because of inflation but she said that she was very reluctant to raise prices because so many people count on her restaurant for affordable meals and several diners come there for both lunch and dinner! Once again this was a fantastic stop and I highly recommend Rosie Jo's! read more

On our way to sit down, a grumpy employee who didn't appear to be in a rush, also didn't mind getting and staying in my way. Floors were slick throughout the establishment. The food tasted pretty good. I will be going back to try the fried chicken. It looked amazing. My chili was served on a crusty, melted plastic bowl. I was kind of shocked they served it like that. Chicken crispy, not overly breaded, very little salt used for those of us preferring to add our own. Tater overly baked, bland, dry. Iced tea strong, great flavor, large glass. Cafe has gone down hill in the last year. tables are dirty, staff is unfriendly and wait is long. Food is usually as good as usually.

On a road trip from Oklahoma to Branson and found this great little cafe. Our server was very welcoming. Be patient since it takes a while to get your food, but it was very hot and fresh. Patty melt, cheese steak, and Ruben was awesome. Fries were fresh cut, and the onion rings were a panko breading. I highly recommend this place! read more

To say it was a disappointment is an understatement. Our waitress was terrible. I asked for the same item 3 times and she never delivered. She did not check on us one time to see if we needed refills on our drinks or if we had received everything we ordered. She was also incredibly slow. I did not get the salad I ordered. A friend at our table had cold mashed potatoes and corn. We all ordered the same thing at the end of our dinner and the waitress repeated back to us what we ordered. When she returned to our table she had all four of them incorrect. The kitchen staff were filthy and had hair hanging down without hair nets or something to keep hair from falling into the food. Kitchen staff also had music blaring while the dining room had background music playing. The staff would also sing along loudly. We wanted to talk amongst ourselves, it was impossible. I asked another staff member to have them turn the music off in the kitchen, the kitchen staff turned it up louder. The staff was unprofessional, one in particular would lumber around yelling across the restaurant to other employees. Again, we were unable to to carry on a conversation due to the noise. It was just about impossible to find anyone to bring us carryout boxes, no one was around. The floors were slick with grease. The tables and chairs were dirty We spent almost $100 of our hard earned money for a poor environment, poor service, and unclean conditions. We will not return. read more

Rosie Jo's is a local restaurant with hometown cooking. They have great food at great prices. Every entree comes with free ice cream before you go. The chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken are my favorites with the white gravy. They have fried chicken cooked to order so plan on a 45 minute wait if you're ordering the excellent fried chicken. They have pie too. The restaurant is open seating when you come in, sit where you want. The place is usually full and there's a good buzz in the air from the number of customers. We went there for breakfast not really expecting much, but the biscuits that came with an order of biscuits and gravy were, hands down, the best I've ever eaten anywhere. My only disappointment was that I never got to sample their fried chicken which several people have mentioned is phenomenal. Great place for a wonderful home cooking! If you like chicken liver, you've got to try theirs! Unbelievable! Never had any this good. They were tender fried to perfection just the right amount of batter and crunch, and not greasy at all. Like I said, the best I've ever had. Enjoyable little cafe. Seat yourself. We met a friend there and we could easily carry on a conversation. Seems to take a while to get your food once you've ordered like it used to be years ago. Gives you time to enjoy your friends. When the food arrives it is freshly cooked and very delicious. I had roast beef on Texas bread and mashed potatoes and the two people I was with both chose chicken fried streak and potatoes. Got there at 11 am they wouldnt let me order breakfast.cause of change overer to lunch.although i watched them serve breakfast till 11:40 although the place wasnt busy.I guess you have to know someone to get breakfast after 11am if lunch starts at 11:00 lunch should be ready to serve. read more

We went here looking for some good chicken. We even had a couple in line behind us at the feed store told us it was good. So, we went. The waitress tells us the wait for fried chicken is 40 minutes. o.0 Alright, let's order something else. My wife got the hamburger steak, and I got the catfish. And it took 40 minutes to get it. o.0 I am told the hamburger steak was good, but the "seasoning" on the fries is salt and pepper. The fish was as bland as you can get it. I think they do their own breading because they must have left something out. I likely just ordered the wrong thing at the wrong time because the place was packed. Even so, there are too many other options out there. We will likely not be back. read more
