Went in with my party of 12 person. They sat us in a cold back room. Ordered a glass of wine, immediately another waitress tried to sell us the whole bottle. She insisted we buy the bottle after I even explained we were driving. Overpriced for ready made food. Ordered calamari, which was fried properly but the marinara sauce was from a can and served cold. Was not impressed from food, (the service depends on people). read more

I think the service here is outstanding, and I really admire the way the owners take care of their employees. The Chicken Vesuvio is good-but can err on the salty side. I usually stick with a special though as they seem to be more creative and utilize in season ingredients. I don't like the atmosphere of the new, larger location. It certainly isn't as quaint and charming - feels more corporate and suburban, but you can't argue with someone growing their business with demand. And that demand certainly called for an expansion. And the demand is justified. Cafe Borgia has very good Italian food and good service. I'm always excited to go back. read more

Cafe Borgia is one of the best places I've eaten at in a long time. The wait staff was so superb, I actually felt like royality. The food was excellent and on a plus they serve Three Floyds beer here too. Although a bit on the expensive side wth the alcohol, I will be back. Found this place and it is beautiful and very authentic my boss and co worker loved their food but mine was just too salty to enjoy. Hello, Wanna feel like your in a restaurant in Rome? Then go here. The paintings on the wall, and all the marble decor makes me feel like it. I know I've been there. All the food here is authentic. Came here Friday to celebrate my birthday with some Martinis and appetizers. Had fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto, stuffed eggplant, and even some pizza. Tried a little of everything and all was great. I stuck with the regular Martini, but my wife and daughter had the Tiramisu Martini, Chocolate raspberry martini, and Espresso martini. They have a bunch of other flavors too. However Martinis do cost $10.00 Our waitress was one of the friendliest people we ever met. A must try. read more

Great services, staffs were very attentive with customers' need. They kept refilling drinks, bread, and butter. The food were good.

Firstly, as far as a "dining experience", it is a lovely place with great service. This is our first visit here. We ordered the appetizer Calamari...very fresh and well prepared. The Lasagna al Forno, was well... loaded with sauce. Too much for my taste-it was difficult to locate the pasta. The stuffed Chicken Breast with Brandy Cream was flavorful, but unfortunately rather dry and tough. (perhaps that's why they served it with a steak knife). Do not order something unless you know what you want. If you are unsatisfied with your meal they will not take it off the bill but instead give you a hard time about how they make there food how they do. No refunds at all. Everything was amazing! From the warm welcome at the door to the wonderful food. Party of 4 had the pizza, fettuccini Alfredo with chicken, chicken parmigiana and homemade ravioli. I visited this place on August 6 and was very please. We were greeted at the door and immediately seated. The service here is amazing and is always the same. They move at a very fast pace while catering to your every need. The bottle service is excellent. The Fettuccine with shrimp is awesome. Friends have tried to get me to come here for years. I'll make this a regular stop from now on. The owners are so friendly. I had some great service at the bar too! I noticed they do a nice carry out business. I'll keep that in mind when I'm working in Munster. My friend and I sat at the bar and had some wine and split a pizza. We went with the 4 cheese pizza. It was delicious! My friend has had dinner here several times and loves all the entrees. I'll make sure I show up hungrier next time. read more

I'm not sure what I like better here the service or the food. They serve the absolute best bread ever. I love their pizzas and the gnocchi appetizer. They have the best ice tea in the area as well. I've ordered that several things on their menu and I have never been disappointed. read more

We had a wonderful late lunch/early dinner! Bowl of mussels marinara and fresh bread to start, hub had chicken Vesuviuo and I had chicken parm. Worst Customer Service!!! Have been going here many years where the waiters know our faces. Ordered Chicken Vesuvio which stated half chicken when served it was a plate of wings and I think a neck bone see below. Asked the waiter where was the white meat and he stated you have to pay extra for white meat. This was not indicated on the menu. So asked the waiter to take it off my bill and he indicated "this is not a restaurant where food can be sent back!!" I asked to speak with the manager and after ten minutes she finally came over. At this point I asked to please take it off the bill and she indicated I HAD to pay! I said no I am not paying and she said she was calling the police...I said go ahead. The police arrived and after 15 minutes of explaining the issue he indicated if we did not eat it we do not have to pay!! We were escorted out of the place like common criminals. The police officer said the manager indicated we were not allowed back! Like we would really ever go back. read more

Cafe Borgia is great for a fancy dinner in NWI. The service is spectacular--the waiters must have to take an oath that no water glass shall be less that 75% full or something because the waiters are on point in keeping them maxed. The food is good. For apps, the calamari is my favorite, it's the best I've ever had! The linguine and clams is a great entree as well as the desserts--tiramisu and marscapone stuffed strawberries. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was because I find it kind of odd that they serve little bottles of coke for such a fancy-schmansy restaurant. For the region anyway. Great place to bring a date! This is feedback in regards to an events planning experience (emails with Grace). We've eaten here dozens of times and wanted to support a fellow alum (Ms. Jesso) so we tried to plan a birthday party here. The events person tried to overcharge us on menu items (adding costs but never subtracting for any adjustments; wasn't until I called it outright that she changed her tone there), told us one duration for a party then changed it, told us we could book the patio for a private event and then told us we could not because they could make more money not booking it, among many other items of back and forth and general missteers. They also will not let you bring a cake for a party but do not offer them for purchase either despite saying they do on their site. Surprisingly negative experience for a place that used to be a regular spot for us. After reading other recent reviews it seems the restaurant has really gone downhill recently. Will have to start frequently other places and will plan our event at a nearby restaurant that was much more straightforward in their dealings. read more

I've just had the absolute worse and embarrassing experience ever at Cafe Borgia! A restaurant that I considered one of my favorite restaurants in which to dine until today. After today, I will never patronize this restaurant again. I frequented this place regularly and took friends and family members on a regular basis. Today I took my daughter and my new son-in-law there because I had an experience (with a meal that I didn't care for) at their favorite Italian place. I said "Let me take you to a "Real" Italian Restaurant", which was the biggest misspoken words in my life. I had to experience this to actually believe that this happened. My daughter ordered a smoked salmon pasta dish which had a dill cream sauce. Upon tasting it, ( after having spent $40 on 4 drinks( 2 hers and 2 her husband's) I told her if you don't care for it ask them to switch it out for a regular Alfredo. They'll be more than happy to do it. Upon sending it back, our waiter informed us that she could order another dish but she still had to pay for that one!! I asked for a manager to come over, explained the situation and that I came here often and I'd brought guests. She then proceeded to tell us that if she switched out a meal for one person, she'd have to do it for everyone and she wouldn't have a business. She went on to say it wasn't spoiled and that my daughter had to pay for it! I was and still am livid! She lost a long-standing customer over an $18 meal. Let's do the the math; my husband and I spend no less than $70-$100+) including tip, each time we go there! Who in this equation is the " not smart one"????? I told her I'd never patronize her restaurant again and she was fine with that. Her rudeness was extreme and demeaning. If you don't want to ever encounter such a careless and rude OWNER of a restaurant, PLEASE do not patronize Cafe Borgia! A restaurant that will not substitute a meal in order to keep happy customers that will provide additional business for you, does not deserve to have customers that bring others to patronize their business. I was so embarrassed that I'd taken my family there only to spend $120 for lunch that had to be paid for even if not enjoyed! If I could give 0 stars, I would. I'm literally angry right now, not because of her decision but the piety, rudeness and sheer uncaring attitude towards a frequent customer like myself in order to make an experience (that I'd promised my daughter) a good one, instead of ruining our lunch and entire day! I actually asked for the owner because I would have never believed an owner of an establishment would treat customers ( long-standing, less more new customers). They literally bagged up the food that she told them that she didn't want and brought it to the table! If that was not the rudest thing I've ever seen in my life; especially from a place that I would have least expected this type of treatment. I am now sitting in my car writing this review right now! Please be careful of the restaurants that you frequent or that you take guests to; especially if the treatment of the guests . that you bring and yourself will be treated like you were worthless! Rant over; but I'm still disappointed. To the owner of Café Borgia; you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself at this very moment. You losing hundreds of dollars of business over an $18 meal that you could've easily replaced and made customers (who were patronizing your restaurant) happy. Learn a lesson from this please; better than still, write your policy (that you don't make people aware of in your menus) and let's see how much business you get then! After scoping out a few other joints on Saturday night and coming up with a bunch of hour plus wait times we decided to try Café Borgia. We had been to the old one but were worried we weren't gussied up enough for the new swanky Borgia (by new I mean probably 7 years old lol). The service was amazing. The food was wonderful. Highly recommend the pasta dishes. We tried the ravioli, fettucine alfredo, linguine pescatore and the penne casserole. All tasted fresh and flavorful and well seasoned. The service throughout the meal though ensures that everything is perfect. If you are down to 4 pieces of bread someone has already noticed and is getting more. If you are slowly drinking your soda and your ice melts, someone has noticed and is getting ice to fix that. It really blew me away. read more

I am the coordinator for a large conglomerate company. I made a reservation for 20 and was told I needed a $100 nonrefundable nontransferable fee for a large room. Unheard of! After spending $2,000 on lunch and tipping 40% to the waiters, we went to the empty bar with an important client to have a drink. The bartender with blond hair was SO rude and disrespectful. She told us we needed to order more food or go sit back down like a dog. The owner Karen (who is a Karen) called the next day and insisted on doing a conference call with my boss who was beyond busy and unavailable. So, I spoke with her and explained the situation to her. Again, Rude and completely unprofessional. I was basically told to go screw myself and Karen literally said that we were "not a good fit"! This was a midday work group not a party crowd. The attitude of Cafe Borgia is not what I would ever expect, especially in a struggling industry! This is no Gibsons. DON'T GO HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE TO BE TREATED LIKE A DOG! Food was good. Service, they seemed to swarm table as soon as a plate appeared finished. At times a bit overwhelming. Biggest complaint is that with a party of 7, a tab in excess of $250, we were not allowed to have a small cake we brought in. Said no one. This despite numerous pictures with people and celebratory cakes in the restaurant. Owner who stood about 50 feet from us all night, did not have the courtesy to come and tell us or discuss. Our party of 4 was very happy with the wait staff. We were disappointed in the calamari appetizer and the management. The calamari was very chewy and tough.When we told this to our waitress she happily replaced the order but upon the first taste it was just as chewy. Management/owner who was rude did not wish to accommodate us. We were told they remade it and that was all they were going to do. As far as the meal, it was ok. Nothing to write home about. Munster's finest. Visited on Dec. 20 (Thurs). Great room, the hand painted walls & glass lights are breath taking. The woman (Owner?) who greeted & sat us was so pleasant considering they were very busy for it being 6pm. Very affordable wine list. The apple, mix greens salad w/ blu chz & nuts is a must. Fried calamari was a little chewy, still good. Their bread is house made & addictive. Lobster ravi special was a winner. The filet special was over cooked, still good quality meat though. Mushroom strudel starter was delicious, we were thinking of ordering a second but the portions are huge so we opted to save room for dessert. Their house made lasagna was baked to perfection & enough for two. The crème brulee was a tasty finish. The waiter & support staff was superb. They did not miss a beat. Love the teamwork.
