Horrible food and service! I ordered the mini tacos and was told it would come with chicken. Received hard tortillas stuffed with what was supposed to be chicken but looked like refried beans in a tortilla shell deep fried to a crisp with zero flavor. Ordered the wings over Steger for $10 and received five boneless wings that looked like Tyson frozen wings. I called and spoke to the owner and asked I could exchange the tacos and was told no refunds or exchanges, and then was arrogantly told they have sold thousands of tacos. Serve was slow and NOBODY was in the restaurant at 2PM . I asked if they had fresh coffee and the waitress said I made it at 1030 AM so I think its fresh. Decided to take a pass on the coffee. I ordered French onion soup and when it was brought out it did not have the bread and cheese melted on it. I explained to the waitress this was just plain onion soup and was told the cheese and bread were extra so I rejected soup. The beef sandwich was ok and the french fries were very hot and good. I will say the waitress was nice and friendly . My wife had a small single person size cheese pizza and she said it was just okay in favor. read more

I've yet to have a bad experience at Bambino's. Love the family and their food! OMG have you seen their cheese sticks? Drooling here..... Not to mention their food is awesome, but they ALWAYS ALWAYS donate to our non profit's yearly fundraisers. They also raise funds for autism. What more needs to be said? This was one of the first restaurants I went to after I moved into Steger. This is both a good place to take a girl out on a date and to take a family out to for a meal. I had noticed that the main dining room has a cozy ambiance to it. The barroom has a totally different feel to it; it is dominated by the slot machines and neon lights, giving the whole room an eerie purple glow. Soup and salad is available at all times at its own bar in the main room. The pizza here is unique. The tomato sauce has a sweet taste to it, leading to a pizza with a slightly sweet taste to it. I also noticed that they manage to get the cheese and toppings spread all the way to the edges of the pizza. Most pizzerias leave the outer rim of the pizza bare of toppings. Most of the time I have been there, the restaurant has been pretty quiet. However, when it rains there, it pours. It is a lot more lively when there is a band playing there (bands tend to set up at 7 pm and tend to start playing at 8, it's usually country music). Also, it does seem to be a hot spot for social clubs to gather at. Well...whatever suits you! Tip: The restaurant is only open for dinner. That is, 4 p.m. and afterward. read more

Today we ordered a pizza and it was great. We opted for pepperoni instead of sausage and added mushrooms, olives, and green peppers. The crust was wonderful and reminiscent of neopolitan pizza with nice air bubbles and crunchy edges. The toppings were plentiful and fresh. It's nice to have a local pizzeria with a great product. And the winner is.... Bambino's! This place has the best food. The soup is always amazing. Make sure you get the quart. Chicken sandwich is great, fries are great, great burgers and the pizza blows away all the other pizza joints around. I know that this has been said over and over but if I could give less than one star, I would. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. EVER! Our good friend suggested that we go there as there was going to be a band. We were going to have our dinner there as well as enjoy live music. Good thing we had reservations as the place was packed. As it was, there was someone sitting at our table that clearly held a reserved sign. There was not an empty table and yet they had only had one person both bartending and waitressing. Needless to say, service was abysmal. My husband went up to the bar and told the bartender/waitress that he understood that she was busy and he would wait. Then he saw her serve two people that came up to the bar after him. Our friend ordered a Jim Beam neat. What he was served was most defiantly NOT Jim Beam so he sent it back. What he was given back was what we think was Jim Beam poured into the glass that still held whatever it was he had been served. There was embarrassing accusation about had we paid for our drinks. We ordered an appetizer which, when we got it, was so undercooked, that the cheese sticks, onion rings and the mushrooms were doughy and the same horrible batter was used on all three items Now while all the was going on, we had ordered a pizza. After waiting over an hour and a half, and seeing people who had come in long after us, getting their pizza, we left. When we got up to leave the owner came over to us and said that our pizza was cooking. For an hour and a half? He then actually became surly with me and said, "Well, I did apologize! The pizza here is delicious and the wait staff is friendly. The last time i was here, I brought my two youngest kids with me. We enjoyed their lunch buffet. They didn't have a pizza on the buffet that my girls would eat, so the staff made a cheese pizza for them to enjoy. We were able to box and bring our leftovers home with us. I would definitely like to bring my kids back to their lunch buffet again. I also love that they do an annual fundraiser for Autism. read more

Its all about the "cheese sticks" here.. They are not like any cheese sticks you've ever had. These look like fried catfish.. Not the perfectly shaped, obviously frozen ones everyone else sells. My experience was awesome!! A co-worker and myself found this gem by happen chance for lunch. The food is fresh and ALL homemade....no bag soups here. I also made it a point to come back on Valentine's Day for "the best prime rib around" and I must say; it truly is!!!! I am very particular about my food and almost a food snob but the prime rib with green beans was truly delicious. The cut was I believe a 10-12oz and juicy, no salt or pepper needed; you could taste the seasonings from the marinade/ braising. I LOVE Lawry's and other well-known establishments and frequent them quite often however; believe me this prime rib IS better than those establishments. Only down fall is there is no dessert. I say that's a downfall because to me a real meal consists of: appetizer or salad entrée dessert The owner is very nice, personable, and welcoming. I would truly come back! read more

If I could give more than five stars, I would. I created a Yelp today and knew I would first review this restaurant. My boyfriend and I were traveling through Illinois and were *very* hungry for lunch. So we took the next exit and looked on the GPS, and Bambino's came up. At first glance, it seemed a little TOO hole-in-the-wall. But as we soon realized, do not let looks deceive you. Bambino's has become one of my most fond restaurant experiences. When we walked in, it was small and not crowded, but the casual charm and simplicity made us feel right at home. We were seated by a genuinely friendly host, and our server was informative and down to earth. They invited us to enjoy the free soup and salad bar, which was fresh and tasty. I don't remember what my boyfriend got, but I ordered the "Mostaccioli." The garlic sticks were incredible. My mostaccioli was a perfect al dente and the sauce was perfect. It was a huge portion so I took a to-go box which fed me for TWO MORE FULL MEALS after that. My boyfriend and I still mention that impromptu lunch date on occasion. It is one of our favorite memories, and since we live far from Chicago, next time we are in the area, we will most definitely stop by. I won't say more--the next time you're anywhere near Chicago, go to Bambino's. It's a trip well worth it. read more

I usually have a bad time going here and dealing with Frank's sarcastic remarks and how rude he is to his employees. Today, in particular, I had an experience when he asked me if the food was for me and the baby and I'm like what baby he said your not pregnant I said noooo. It was truly offensive. This was my first time eating here, and it was far from ideal. The place smelled a bit, and my dinner companion's cheese stick was luke warm. I ordered the Buffalo wings, and I received what seemed to be plain chicken wings, I don't usually partake in hot foods, so I think I'd notice if it were even remotely spicy, and it wasn't, so I had to ask for hot sauce separately. The service could have been a bit quicker, but the staff had to deal with the other two (2) patrons who were in the restaurant at the time so I imagine they were quite swamped. This place was wholly underwhelming, and based on my experience it doesn't deserve anything better than two stars. The saving grace was our waitress, who happened to be a glasses-clad, cute, rather meek girl, who had a shy abruptness in her dialect, which admittedly is my weakness. She was worth at least one star. I was with a friend during this unfortunate dinner, and he joked that the aforementioned waitress couldn't be older than 14 years old, This was merely a reference to an earlier indecent I experienced with a young girl, who happened to look much more mature from the back than she actually was. The waitress here was presumably in her late teens, we mused that she was the boss's daughter, but she did not look to be of Italian decent, despite the faint garlic smell that seemed to follow her around. Unfortunately I did not catch her name. Overall I feel like my time in this establishment was wasted, and I will not be returning, I wish the best for our darling server, hopefully she will find fortune in her future endeavors. Went here for Valentine's Day on the recommendation of our friend. Cozy atmosphere. Delicious serve-yourself salad bar. Prime rib dinner was offered. I enjoyed a delicious spinach pizza. A wonderful band called "The Big Boppers" played some romantic music during dinner and stepped it up a notch to rock-n-roll after dinner. A great time was had by all! read more
