We got to sample lots of the instructor's bread at the end of class and took home our own breads, which were HUGE. Plenty to share with family and I froze some too.

The problem was the instructor, Leah Starr, who was consistently rude and condescending. On our way home afterward, my daughter asked, "what was wrong with her?" No idea - no one in class acted out of turn or caused problems. It was very unprofessional. Unfortunately, when I followed up with the school to ask, they said you're not able to find out the instructor's name in advance, which is enough for us not to take a chance on going back.

We did the Thai class and made shrimp spring rolls, beef satay skewers, and green curry chicken. It was so much fun and it tasted amazing. Our instructor Raf would demonstrate the prep and then the cooking of the dish while we watched him cook and gave tips and teach things like proper cutting technique, to heating the oil correctly and when to add to maximize things like flavour and not to overcook things. Once he finished it was our turn to prepare and cook the dish (while being supervised and given tips and guidance while we cooked)and then when we finished we went and sat in the dining room and got to taste our creation. Each course we did one at a time then ate it and then proceeded to the next course. If you want to learn cooking techniques and some pointers from a real pro and have some fun I highly recommend this. Great for couples, parent& child, friends or on your own to have some fun and prepare a really delicious meal. Class size was 20 people.

After a lot of research, The Dirty Apron stood out as the clear winner. I reached out nearly two months in advance only to find they were fully booked on our one available evening. I moved on and kept searching, but about a week later they contacted me to say they had a cancellation. I jumped on it immediately! From start to finish, the process was seamless. They offered a very wide variety of menu options, which made it easy to find choices that accommodated several dietary restrictions and varying preferences across our group. Communication was straightforward and stress-free. Day of, the location was easy to find and they were completely set up and ready when I arrived a few minutes early. The onsite team, Monica, our servers, and our chef were all outstanding. The structure of the experience was perfect for a team event: the chef would teach us one course, we'd break out to make it together, then sit down and eat what we'd just prepared before heading back to learn the next one. The pacing was spot-on. Our chef was engaging, educational, and fun without being over the top. Throughout the evening and through the next day, my entire team raved about the food quality, the hands-on instruction, and the overall atmosphere. After dessert, none of us wanted to leave, even after four full hours together. For a leadership team that had never done an offsite before, this was the ideal bonding experience. It's much bigger than it looks from the outside. The classroom/kitchen area was well laid-out, and each area could probably accommodate around 24 attendees at a time. We had a 2 hour class, and the first hour was dedicated to learning understanding what was being made, learning techniques, and a live demonstration on how to make it. The last hour was reserved for attendees to prepare their dishes and eat it. The instructor and helpers were all very friendly. I found some of the pre-made ingredients not optimal - the rice seemed overcooked and a bit mushy, and questioned the use sweet potato for the maki rolls, and use of okonomiyaki to drizzle on sushi. But some ingredients were perfectly good - specifically the fish. This meal included a plum wine/sake cocktail. Overall, I quite enjoyed the class. The 2 hours goes by really quick, but it was informative and fun. At $89, it was very affordable. I'd definitely consider taking another class.

Had a team bonding event for work here and we had seven people who were participating in the Asian…read morecuisine cooking class. The three dishes that we made were pork baos, dan dan noodles, and wontons with chilli sauce. These were all staple foods that I grew up eating in a Chinese family but it was quite interesting to make them with a western fusion twist. If you don't know how to cook, do not worry because I certainly don't either. Dan, the owner, led our class with his assistant Kait. Both were very helpful, engaging in conversation, and accommodating. Dan did a really good job of explaining the origins of each dish, bringing in his own experiences and life stories with his family which I really appreciate as this added a personal touch. He stresses the use of organic ingredients and often shared with us where to buy these common items. Once you walk in, you store your personal items in the cupboard provided. Then you write your name on an erasable name tag and put your apron on. Everyone is involved in the cooking process, from washing vegetables to chopping garlic and green onions. There was just a right amount of time to cook but also socialize with one another. You can also consume alcohol while cooking. I found that the assistant often prepared most of the meat, so some of the hardest parts of the recipes were already accounted for. The pork bao, for example, only required us to make the bun part but I do not recall preparing the pork or marinating it. Everything tasted delicious and looked so colourful that the plating easily looked like restaurant quality, even if you just tossed them all together on a dish. We used a lot of garlic though so a lot of us still came to work with garlic breath the next day! Still, I think my favourite dish must have been the dan dan noodles because of the peanut sauce. Feeling very lucky to have tried my first cooking class through work and hope to be back another time to cook another cuisine!

Wow, I was impressed! I saw just little of the area at back where cooking classes are held, and it looked 'cool'. Service while there was very friendly and cordial. I really enjoyed how the chef shares where she gets her local meat and produce so if we liked how it tastes, we can have more options to shop locally. I have been fortunate enough to have two events held here for clients. This is a very unique and…read moregreat team building exercise as one of the events they offer is an iron chef challenge. The basis of this activity is that you are put into teams and tasked with the difficult and creative job of cooking a appetizer and entrée using a secret ingredient that has to be incorporated in both dishes. They hosted our clients professionally and with care which was much appreciated. The experience can come in at a little bit high of a price however, it has been a very successful event and our clients seemed to love it (which is the main goal!). You have to cook for one hour and have access to the kitchen and ingredients and can talk with some of the students that are there as well. It feels very high pressure and depending how you cook or eat it could be either very creative or a little bit overwhelming but it's all in good fun. After that, the head chef tries out all the dishes and scores everyone. Don't fret, you do not have to only eat your concoctions after the cooking challenge. You are then presented with a three course meal done by the students. One thing I do wish they offered was perhaps a Feedback card (I understand this is difficult for a client event but could be coordinated to the organizer). The dishes we got for good, the portions were a bit small and some of the dishes were a bit over salted in my opinion but overall it was a great meal and event. There is limited parking and just have to register your car with the business beforehand, otherwise be prepared to get towed.

We got to tour the fitness center, gymnasium and pool area. Then took a leisurely walk around the campus to see the different buildings - Fine Arts building, the Library, Residence Halls, Science Building, and the Viking Union. All were closed since it was a Sunday, but still enjoyed walking around to see the layout and creative structures and different building locations. The natural environment with views of the Cascades and hills full of trees across the ocean was very calming and peaceful.

CAUTION: Don't come here…read more This university changed a lot, seemingly for the worse. If something goes wrong, watch out for the caring front some professors put up. I fell for it and it costed me. I truly believed that when another student told my professor that I felt suicidal, that I would be helped. Instead my tuition was wasted. I was told to enroll in courses that had no site placement. Then when I asked my professor about the shared concern from my classmate regarding how I felt suicidal, she gaslighted me. She forgot that my classmate said I felt suicidal. Mind you, my classmate shared this information without my permission. We had a three hour meeting after class that I can't believe she forgot... I thought I'd be supported but instead I was ignored for the rest of the year due to the courses that did not exist. I was then suddenly removed from my program because I was told I was not ready for my final quarter. I would have been ready if I actually had learned what the missing courses failed to provide due to not existing at all. All of my classmates noticed how I was treated, but nothing was ever done to help me, because then the school year ended and everyone graduated. The program I was in had high suicide and mental health stats, which I learned after I graduated. In hindsight, the pressures of how challenging the program is was a huge source of stress, which was basically mocked at the front door, during orientation. Do not expect this university to actually care about you as a person. You only seem to matter if you can contribute financially, but otherwise, you're completely on your own. Other things happened too. I'm not sure why there weren't better actions in place. After my sudden program removal, I was actually preyed on by a student who took advantage of me and raped me. And if that wasn't enough insult to injury, I never used my college degree for anything because my credentials were incomplete and all my financial aid ran out, even though I had a full ride, which was all wasted and never reimbursed, when I wasn't provided courses. This was all extremely painful for me to go through and i would argue that I never deserved what happened to me. I hope that this isn't the standard for how this university treats students who feel suicidal. Before my classmate shared anything about suicide, no professors could tell. So I felt exposed and then discarded. This was so brutal and unexpected at the end of college. My life has not been the same since. There are better colleges that won't make you go through what I went through. WWU is a high risk and a gamble in my honest opinion. You don't get a nice college name in the end. Anywhere else is better. I hope this helps.
