    Hot and Sour Soup (small)
    Laura L.

I haven't been here in so many years (pre covid plus 5 years?) but on Mother's Day, I had a yen for the good old American Chinese food of my youth! In all my years, Zing's Panda Palace is the closest to those old childhood memories. But this visit, it was even better than I remembered. Since it was Mother's Day, they had a sign and also informed us "Dinner Menu Only" meaning larger, family style entrees and every thing a la carte. Want an egg roll? Add $2.50 (for example not sure of exact price). I ordered a small hot and sour soup and I wanna say it was $3.50. It was delicious! Not the best I have ever had but very good! My husband ordered "triple delight" which was shrimp, chicken and beef in a delicious sauce garnished with lots of veggies. I ordered sesame chicken which was that fried, sweet goodness that I have been craving. It was great and definitely left me feeling satisfied. Tea and water were served without being requested. Choice or white or brown rice. We chose brown but we're later told "it wasn't ready" so we said white Is fine. Service was gracious and efficient. We noticed since we had last been, the entire interior appeared to have been refreshed! Very nice! I'm sorry I didn't get pictures of the main courses as we dove in as soon as they were served but we will definitely go Back sooner next time! Hopefully with a larger group so we can try more dishes.

Take out and pick up orders one customer at a time inside.

Stop by this place after I did my grocery shopping at Safeway. Been reading about it and thought today was a good Chinese takeout day. Got there and there were about 4 people a head of me. They were only allowing 1 inside for pickup and takeout orders. Spoke to a guy in line who seems like a regular. Gave me some tips on what his and his wife usually orders. He was partially to their war noodle soup. Today, I opted for the 4 Season under the chef's special menu ($14.95) and hubby wanted to try his favorite entree dish, Moo Shu pork($10.95). Both were good and of good portion. Definitely had leftover for the next day lunch. Noticed that they increased their menu pricing by $1 now. So make sure you check out my menu photos for the latest updated price. Probably should have call in the order for pickup seems a lot of their regulars did that and were in and out. I had to wait 20 minutes for my to go order. Their website also has the menu listed as well.

I ordered the chilled sweet and sour potato and was very disappointed. $17 for what I got was insane. It was just a few slivers of potato and carrot on top of cold vermicelli. I loved the decor and atmosphere, but it was a very underwhelming experience for me. I'll definitely give it another try and give something else a try. I found this " vegetable and tofu" roll the most bland I've had. No herb, sauce , crunch.... I am a fresh roll lover, so a little discerning, but this was truly flavorless. Tofu, rice noodles, leaf lettuce and rice paper. Thats it. Like eating a carrier for too little peanut sauce. The pho was filling and came with a plate of bean sprouts referred to as "the vegetables" . The Vietnamese coffee was tasty but presentation awkward. It came as Condensed milk in a cup with a pour- over atop this and the separate glass of ice. I'm no expert in this ritual but I am accustomed to having the milk cold in the ice and the brewed coffee in a spouted vessel for easy pouring into the iced milk. Here we had to mix the brewed coffee, then add it dribbling and spilling to the ice. No big deal but awkward. It tasted good. The prices were reasonable and parking a lot shared with the strip mall . Not within the restaurant's control , but in circling for a spot around one lane, I was nearly backed into by not 2 not 3 but 4 cars. I think I recall a cannabis shop being in the mall or nearby. This may explain that. The service was friendly throughout. The place was empty but the time was odd. I don't think we'd return based upon the fresh rolls alone.

To kick off our experience we started with the fried pork sticky buns, and they did not last long. The crispy fried crust had a very unique texture, and contrasted wonderfully with the soft warm inside of sticky buns with BBQ pork filing. Next we dug into the Fried Combo, which included Egg Rolls, Potstickers and Crab Rangoon. The Egg Roll & Potstickers were unforgettable, but the Crab Rangoon was the real star of the show. Creamy crab filling wrapped in fried wonton paper, and some sweet chili sauce to dip in. Moving on to the entrees we shared the Beef & Shrimp Fried Noodle plate, and the Grilled Chicken Banh Mi. The fried noodles contained tender beef and succulent shrimp stir-fried with yellow noodles, Cabbage, Shredded Carrot, crisp bean sprouts, and garnished with fresh cilantro. The dish was very flavorful, with all the fresh veggies and spices tying together the noodles, shrimps and beef. Finally the banh mi. I will admit I have never tried a banh mi sandwich, but I am very glad this was my first one. All the vegetables on top provided an excellent crunch and the chicken was very tender with an amazing flavor. I also added picked jalapeño for an extra touch of heat. All in all this is a very great choice for anyone in the mood for some great Vietnamese cuisine. We will definitely be going into the restaurant next time to try something else!

I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to experience Ono's on a regular night. I was not disappointed. Ingrid, who served me the last time, was my server again. And she is wonderful! My companion and I were well cared for. Tonight's music was performed by CJ Helekahi, who is a regular on Fridays, I understand: wonderful! The beverages were great as usual. I wasn't really into the Bao Tacos like I thought I would be, but I absolutely could not stop exclaiming over the Ahi Nachos and the Garlic Shrimp. In each instance, the sauce was spectacular! I was practically licking the basket when the food was gone. And the shrimp, themselves, were large, juicy, flavorful and perfectly cooked--not a nanosecond over or under--just fabulous. "Back in the day" we had a few great Yelp events in this exact space! Anyway... we were glad we arrived early, and were able to snag one of the last tables for our group of 4. We ordered a couple of beers and (at the bartender's urging) got our food order in because they were starting to get slammed. The Dude enjoyed his tasty bao buns, and I slumped down a hearty bowl of hot noodle soup with chicken. It was all delicious! As showtime got closer, the place was packed full with comedy fans. The bar line got long, and we could tell the servers felt a little frantic. Maybe they weren't expecting such a huge crowd, but I feel like things would have gone more smoothly if they'd been able to upstaff for the event.
