This was a textbook perfect example of the food you get at an American Chinese buffet. It was nostalgic and had all the classics, and the food was hot and replaced often. The dining room was fairly packed which shows how popular it is. I think it suffered only in the lack of dessert options and cooked vegetables free from being mixed with a meat. There was also the matter of the price, which we felt was too much for the food quality, (which wasn't poor, but wasn't incredible either). Given the on and off 'Wonderful' reviews of this place, we came on a weekend for lunch and our experience was okay. I hadn't been here for years. Food: 3/5 - they had a good selection of seafood that day such as shrimp, lobster, oysters, clams, etc. The lobster was served in tiny pieces & looked like mainly shells. There was a sign limiting to 5 lobsters each time you went up. That and other seafood were overcooked. I didn't try too much seafood as I didn't know how fresh it was. Good value considering its buffet. Service: 3/5 - okay considering it was the weekend and busy. You have to call them if you want service. They came by frequently to take the used plates away. Atmosphere: 3/5 - place is dated which adds ambience to the place. There's complimentary parking. Check my photo for the various prices depending on what day & time you dine at. Their food is pretty good for the area of Bellingham Washington. Their Lobster is really good and actually has some good amount of meat in it. The calamari is bomb. Their whole selection was really good. Enough to rival the all you can eat buffets in my hometown. The service / waiters was very attentive and always cleaning up our finished plates. Not my favourite place but was chosen by my elderly mom who wanted to go here for dinner. Food was previously average, but now seems just ok at best. Place could use an updated renovation of its interior and washrooms. Service remains fairly friendly, but it does not make up for the overall experience. read more

I loved the variety and the speed that dishes were replaced or topped up - always hot and as fresh as they could get. $3USD beers were a pleasant surprise, quick clean up throughout tables and no pushiness for us to get out quickly! Wonderful's dinner is $17.99 per person, and their offerings have changed from when I went pre-Covid. Which I guess is to be expected. They used to have snow crab legs here but this time around all they had was deep fried crab legs. I miss the snow crab since they were easy to eat and succulent. The fried crab was mushier and it was probably fried because they weren't as fresh. They still have snails and clams, as well as several shrimp dishes (fried, cold appetizer shrimp, buttered). They had mussels, baked oyster with cheese (though they have a limit of 2 per person every time they take our a new tray.). They had a do it yourself carving station with a roast meat and some sausages. And you can always count on them to have a petty good selection of American Chinese food at their all you can eat. In no way do I want to be rude, the staff was friendly enough and the place was decently clean for a buffet environment, but the food was just not good in mine and my husband's opinion, it could be due to batch cooking and quick turn around but it really lacked flavor and wasn't the most appealing to look at- the dessert bar was lacking- it's as if the "lemon cake" had a lemon waved above it and then dyed a pale yellow to make you think lemon but in fact no lemon flavor was to be found and this was the same with the other desserts we tried- other customers seemed to be able to fill their plates and seemed to be happy so it's most likely a personal preference/taste- but if your looking for authentic i would recommend looking else where- read more

Solid 3 stars. It's a buffet. However, going on a weekend for dinner is definitely worth it because the replenishment of the dishes is constant so everything is always fresh. But just like any other buffet, if it's not busy, it's probably not safe to go to. Friday and Saturday nights is always busy here. They must be under new ownership or management now, because it was extremely good, hot, fresh, and top notch service. They were PACKED with customers. Which is a very good sign at a buffet nowadays. Everything was kept clean, plates cleared, and drinks refilled immediately. They had no problem keeping up with the hot fresh food, too. There wasn't anything they were out of or that looked sad. So much great seafood too! My favorites were their giant pieces of squid , walnut shrimp and crab rangoon. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the crab. It was battered and deep fried in the shell. I have been here a couple times with my family. I have to admit, the food is okay. Not amazing or wonderful like the name of the place but okay. The price is decent for what you're getting. If you want gourmet food, this isn't the place. If you're hungry and want to stuff your face, this is the place. But the only reason I am giving this place 1 star, is their customer service. Although it is a buffet and we are serving ourselves, the staff that greeted us was not very wonderful. The waiter kept coming to take our empty plates, but was super rude about it. First of all, no manners. Please don't reach over a customer's plate while they are eating. Second, no personal space. I was getting food and one of the kitchen staff came and was all up in my space, reaching over in front of me to add more food. The bowl was hot. What if she burnt me? A simple excuse me or some patience could've made it better. Third, they need to clean their dining area. I can see leftover food on the floor. Lastly, they don't wait to see if you're done and ask if you're ready for the check. They come and they give you the check along with some fortune cookies. It almost feels like you're getting kicked out. I wasn't EVEN DONE yet. Overall, decent price for the food. Customer service is NOT wonderful, oh and they demand tips! I saw that in other reviews. The one thing I'd say was a con was that the two sides of the restaurant are so far from one another. And my side was less crowded so there wasn't much attention from servers on our end. I have to say it's a good Chinese resto across the border but I don't think it'll survive well here in Vancouver where Chinese restaurants are in a cut throat competition. I have to say, the standard and quality of most N. American Asian Buffet has been has been on a steady decline in the past 5 yrs. But there are some bright spots here and there! Wonderful Buffet in Bellingham, WA is one good example, my family had been coming here for a good few years, and their standard of food quality has been very consistent, not only did they keep a large variety of items, they also have special features such as Fresh Baked Local Oysters, Fresh Local Clams, Fried Prawns and Crabs etc. I also like their vegetable stir-fries, especially Chinese Mustard Green! It was cooked the authentic way with ginger slices to enhance the vegetable's natural flavour. Service wise, they are always very friendly and efficient, table and plates are always cleared and they are also eager to help you refill your soda! OMGosh, We love this place & go there at least 2 or 3 times per month. Their food is fresh & cooked deliciously. On weekends, we to go eat their DUCK & Dungeness Crab. I was looking forward to trying this place for a long time. I used to go to Asian buffets all the time near Seattle growing up and I loved them. As a long time Asian buffet goer here's what I have to say.... I was happy to see they had all the standard foods at an asian buffet... nothing too special. Unfortunately, I was not too impressed. Half of the "warm" food I ate was moderately cold, which was concerning. There was a large selection of seafood options, but a lot of it was out the whole time I was there. The service I received was okay - nothing extraordinary again. Maybe it was because they were busy, but we felt like our time was rushed. The restaurant was packed, but the restaurant had lots of seating so waiting for a spot was not an issue for us. The environment was very loud when it was packed. Overall, not impressed. I also have to compliment the fact that they had many seafood options including Sea Snails, the four star is more because of their overly small sized desert section and the staff wasn't very attentive they were professional and kind but also not checking in with us as much as they should. Visited: Apr 27 2019 I really had low expectations coming here; my parents raved about this place and they made this a mandatory spot for lunch when we cross the border for our shopping excursion. The parking is ample and the outside looked a bit dated. I've personally passed by this restaurant many times over the years but never had an urge to dine there. We were seated quickly and because it was the weekend, the price is set the same ($17 pp) regardless of lunch or dinner. On to the food. I was actually blown away at the variety and quality. Everything was ginormous; chicken wings, the oysters, the prawns, roast prime rib and duck ... oh my. Lots of seafood, which I love. I am estimating there were about 48 different "trays" of hot/cold food (including dessert and salad) There's no way we can get this type of AYCE for $17 USD back in Vancouver.
