We have yet to have a negative experience here and have been coming for almost 3 years now- we generally hit happy hr and can each get a drink, I get the pear persuasion and hubs usually gets a draft ipa or similar- can't go wrong with the steak frites that come with frys, we usually also grab a plate of buffalo pork riblets and recently a side Caesar salad- our little loves the Booths and shares with us and enjoys their own strawberry lemonade! Service is alway great and love how pretty it is! read more

We went for New Years Eve. No reservations were available because we decided too late, but we were fine sitting at the bar. The bartender was cheerful and busy, but attentive to our requests. I have been here a handful of times before. My favorite is the French Dip, but there are many things that I have not tried. We shared the tuna sushi appetizer, which enjoyed a great deal. The crispy fried onions gave it a kick of texture and flavor. My wife had the teriyaki chicken bowl, which tasted good, but she wished she had another order of the sushi. I had the miso king salmon *really* hit the spot for me, and it was not overcooked a bit. The miso taste was quite mild. The Brussels sprouts were tasty, and the rice good. The amazing sauce brought it all together. I ate the entire plate, which surprised my wife. Service was very good. Although it was at capacity, and the games were on the TVs at the bar (with volume way down or off), it was not too noisy, so my wife and I could talk easily without shouting. The service, if you want to call it that, is nearly non-existent. It is not busy -I can see why- and while we were able to order fairly quickly, it has now passed 30 minutes since we ordered. We even ordered the 12 oz filet special, both medium rare, so it was nothing exotic. My bet right now is that they had to go to one of the local dairies to select a cow to kill. Well, it just showed up. Not much for presentation when paying $79 per plate. The steak was overdone. They skimped on the butter and sour cream for the baked potato. It was just substandard all the way around. Another party had the same complaint earlier. The manager came to our table after I pointed out the problems to our server. The manager listened to our observations and experience. She said the "chef" had a hard time figuring out how to cook such a large piece of meat. I have a suggestion - how about you sear it on both sides then move it to a lower heat to finish it? Maybe finish it in the oven? I'm no "chef", but that seems like the way to do it to me. The one thing that was done right is the Caesar salad. The dressing was very good and the croutons were fresh. The manager did a very good job of making the situation right. She took some off of the bill and comped a dessert. The ambiance is that of an establishment that once was very nice. The carpet is terribly worn and the table tops are in need of a refinishing. The bathrooms are clean and stocked. The manager saved this from being a one star review. There are quite a few little things that can be done to improve the experience for anybody who choose to patronize this establishment and they cost nothing. Have your servers introduce themselves to the guests that they are serving. Have the servers explain the day's specials. If the food flow from the kitchen is slow, go ahead and communicate that to the guests. Maybe comp a basket of bread. Check in with guests every 7-10 minutes. Once they have been served their meal, check in with them after allowing time for them to have had a couple of bites. Maybe another time or two after that to refresh drinks and offer a dessert menu. Food can be purchased anywhere. Make the visit an experience. read more

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... Maybe it would have been better if we got a steak? We got the taco truck trio, the filet mignon steak bites, and the French dip. The taco truck trio COULD have been good except everything was pretty cold (this was a theme) and the tortillas were gigantic crackers that were not conducive to "tacoing" the food. The au just wasn't that at all - it was brown gravy - and flavorless to boot. The steak bites were fine, as far as steak goes, but it was the same brown gravy. My dining companion enjoyed his drinks, and mine were strong but not terribly good. They got the job done, though. Overall it wasn't a cheap outing, and for the price I would have expected more. The only plus is that service was quite friendly, and because it's at the golf course, there's plenty of parking. read more

Decided to try steakhouse 9 again. Out last experience wasn't great. Slow service, they forgot my salad and gave it to me at the end when I was full. I got the French dip and while the sandwich was good the au jus was THICK and more like a gravy which was not appealing. The colder it got the thicker it got. I was very disappointed and turned off. Fast forward to this weekend. We walked in the door and the group infront of us got seated by the hostess. The hostess and no one came back for TEN minutes. The line was out the door. The hostess was busy getting Togo orders ready. They should have one hostess and one person doing to go orders. Or atleast have the staff acknowledge us and say they will be back. But there was absolutely no acknowledgment for then minutes with a line out the door. We ordered our food. Our waitress was very friendly. Service was a little slow but I enjoyed the time with my BFF. I asked her about the French dip and the aujus. She said it depends on who is cooking and that it usually is on the thicker side which she agrees isn't how aujus should be. I went ahead and ordered it taking the risk. All I can say, what a magnificent dining experience! My wife and I are celebrating our 36th anniversary and picked Steakhouse 9 for our dinner. It was superb! The ambiance was very nice, the server super attentive, and the food was exceptional. I had the baby back ribs, meaty and falling off the bone tender. My wife had the stroganoff, it too was super tender beef and the sauce was perfect. For dessert (just had to) my wife had the caramel cheesecake and I had the lava cake. Both were great. While my partner and I enjoy the food and service at Steakhouse Nine, the too loud music is almost enough to drive us away. I spoke to co-owner Joe about this some time ago. I understand that he has "retired". Also, I was told once by a female "mgmt type" that "X" (female) and "Y" (male), also co-owners chose the music. That was some months ago. I inquired if X and Y were here (there!) to "enjoy" their selections and was told "No." I then pointed out that we were, in fact there, so could it be mitigated by lowering the sound level or perhaps changing it up to a "softer" Spanish guitar" or "Spa". Very often the crowd at the venue is white-to-gray haired. I can speak for no one but partner and me, but if I wanted to listen to loud music when dining I'd go to Scotty's in Bellingham (Where I was once years ago!) read more

Had lunch here today with hubs and his Mom. She had a spinach salad and loved it. He had the lunch special build your own burger and gave it a thumbs up. I can personally vouch for the fries!! I had the fish tacos and got them blackened instead of fried. They were good, but there was a little too much salsa which created too much juice on the plate leading to a slightly soggy second taco. Still good, just messy. Look forward to trying Happy Hour. Nice atmosphere. We sat in the bistro area near the bar. Six large screen tvs above the bar... Pork Riblets with Buffalo Sauce was a favorite (so much so, we returned for them a second night), and both the steaks were cooked to perfection and delicious. Christmas came early to Washington this evening! We were famished for something really quality and classy and TASTY, but couldn't make up our mind as to what we were craving. Seafood? Fine Italian? Steak? Fish and Chips... Or a great steak burger- OR maybe just really great nachos and wings?? BUT--!!! ... luckily a friend suggested this amazing steakhouse in Lyndon (about 15-20 east drive from Bellingham!!) ... ... and with no exaggeration: it was like walking into a restaurant in your favorite romantic Christmas movie. They had literally just decor'ed the place for The Holidays, really lovely ... AND they have this stunning authentic white onyx bar that lights up - the whole place was pure enchantment! But of course we came for the food... And were thrilled we had! While of course they're famous for their steak (being a steakhouse) - the fish and chips and classic pizzas were unbelievably great. We sampled several of their high-end appetizers including their famous steak bites and wings !! SOOOOO GOOD!! For entrées we decided to kind of do a "one of each" and ended up with their famous cheeseburger, Italian pizza with all the Fixin's, French dip, Fish and Chips, Spaghetti with Kobe meatballs, and a few of their amazing salads... Price-point wise it's incredibly modest considering what you're getting, the portions are generous, and the waitstaff was again just so delightful and a joy to speak with. Particular shoutout to the manager, KRISTA, who made sure everything was to perfection, greeted us warmly at the door, and checked in regularly to ensure we had everything we needed. Will DEFINITELY be back. Word of warning: they do fill up on the weekends- so calling ahead is definitely recommended!! Staff rushed to seat us. Our server was friendly, engaged, cheerful, hustling, and doing quite well at keeping on top of everything considering the number of tables she was juggling (including a party of 25 to in another room). Everything we ordered was amazing. I had the Raspberry Ginger mock mojito which was quite tasty, with plenty of ginger spice. The Filet Minion Steak bites practically melted in my mouth and provided a perfectly satisfying meal paired with possibly the best yam fries I've ever eaten. My partner ordered the French Dip, which was so good I had to steal a couple of nibbles for myself. He usually takes home half when he gets a sandwich, but when I looked up after polishing off my bites, it was gone and he was happily patting his belly. We opted to sit in the dining room, as we could hear the noise of the bar from where we were standing and don't drink. The food is mediocre at best. We have given this restaurant at least 6 times to improve on food and have tried eating something that was tried before, with no improvement. I never compain about food at restarunts. Aware it was going to be on the spendy side. This restarunt is at the Homestead Resort far from the downtown of Lynden. Obviously for the guests at Homestead. I ordered a steak salad. Cheaper than the Ceaser salad with steak, the steak came out cold. Made it un enjoyable. I told the bartender that I was unhappy with it, the response was, "oh you have to order the steak on the side for it to be hot. They let it cool down to not wilt the lettuce." I have had steak salad before, steak is always hot. Not worth the $27 for a small amount of steak. McMenamins is better for far less. On a note about the service, I waited for ten minutes to catch the bartender in a bar thats 1/4 full. I am writing this review at the bar 35 minutes after I struggled with the salad. Maybe its becuase of the stigma of the cost of this resort but I feel like I wasted an hour of my time, and hour I should have spent in the free pool. I don't know if writing reviews on Yelp does any good. I'm retired and enjoy dining at various restaurants in the area. I usually write a yelp review after dining, usually when it's either a first time or been a while since I've returned to the establishment. Steakhouse 9 is a great restaurant that serves excellent food. My family and I just returned home after having a meal. I'll break my critique down by the numbers, with explanations where possible. 1)Menu very limited compared to last visit. 2) bread rolls no longer served in basket. 3) cheese seemed to be too liberally applied. Scalloped potatoes good, but so much cheese it was formed into a brick. 4) the green salad my mom ordered looked like weeds somebody pulled from a flower bed. I suggest Iiceburg and romain mix 5) waitress either incompetent or deliberately obtuse. Food servers always comment/complain on social media about complaining customers. The one we had does not help their cause. (a)She refused to hear any suggestions we made regarding food description on menu. Example: the calamari was excellent. We all enjoyed it, but it had a lot of heat. We suggested that SH9 include this detail in the description on menu. She flat ignored us. ( b) my brother ordered steak and potato. Meal arrived with mashed potato being orange/red in colour. My brother commented on it, and waitress told him it was mashed yams that came with the meal. My brother agreed to have scalloped potatoes instead. The waitress left and came back saying it's actually potatoes with red pepper mixed into it! As it turns out that was indeed the case and the potatoes were wonderful. But it needs to be described on the menu, and the waitress needs to know the difference between mashed yam and red pepper potato, and she needs to understand the menu. 5) I made a reservation 4 days prior to our visit. On the day of the visit I confirmed reservation. My brother and sister in law arrived before my Mom and I. They were seated, and told hostess they were only one half of party dining and to expect my Mom and I. I dropped my Mom off and she went to front hostess station. Told them my name and said we had reservations. Hostess messed around, and denied we had a reservation, only to eventually discover that not only we did, but half the party was already seated. My Moms elderly. It took so long she almost left due to not being able to wait for hostess staff to pop their head out of their third point if contact. Conclusion and Epiphany. At the end of our evening we all agreed that the food at SH9(apart from salad) continues to be great. I suggest you sustain whatever it your doing. Front of your establishment needs improvement. The food servers need to study and understand the menu and work on their listening skills. Your Hostesses need to improve their communication and organizational skills. Training is key, so your management needs to shoulder some of this responsibility as well. I looked at some of the other reviews. The issues my family and I experienced are hardly profound in nature. I'm not looking for an apology....just learn from this and do better. read more

They are open for dine-in eating! This was my first time here, and I had a good experience. I ordered The "9" Burger which was great other than the Gorgonzola cheese in it (which I wasn't sure I would like but wanted to try). Very juicy and lots of bacon! Fries were average. We also ordered the Chicken Alfredo which looked and tasted very good. Definitely a bit pricey, but we had great service, and the view of the golf course is nice. read more
