Catfish nuggets, Mac and cheese, Green Beans

Don't be optimistic; Trust the reviews. It was fine. Just fine. The candied yams were like regular canned yams. The green beans were alright. The fish was cooked too hard, through breaded well. The Mac and cheese looked good but wasn't very flavorful and was almost grainy. I had high hopes but didn't end up even finishing the plate unfortunately. If you have a hankering for soul food, this won't satisfy it. Save your coins.

Smoked turkey, leg, macaroni and cheese, candy, yams, and collard greens with cornbread

OMG! The food is amazing! The candy yams are so delicious! Everything was delicious the greens macaroni and cheese. The turkey leg was so tender even the cornbread was on point. The customer service is awesome. Everyone is so polite so attentive! The ambience is warm and relaxing soft music playing. Everything is so clean. It was an amazing experience. I will definitely be back again and again.

I like this place. It is Mardi Gras themed and has a decent amount of seating. I went at 1p on a weekday and I ordered the turkey Ave greens gumbo. They were out. Ordered the regular collard greens to go with my fish. They were out. So I ended up with rice and beans and spaghetti. I was skeptical of the rice and beans initially but they had a nice flavor. The spaghetti gave what it was supposed to give. Although I wish the fish was a bit more seasoned, you get plenty of it in the catfish nugget place. I will definitely be back to try the soul roll and the gumbo (hopefully) another time !

The food was well prepared. The seasoning was perfect. The texture of the fried green tomatoes and the soul rolls were crispy and crunchy. The crawfish étouffée was great in the proportion size and was prepared well. Last, but not least the ambience was very welcoming. The entire restaurant was clean and comfortable. The wait staff had pleasant personalities and were knowledgeable of all the menu items. Our food and beverages were served in a timely fashion. Well worth the price!!

I really wanted to like this place. Drove 30 minutes because we heard great things. Table was open, so they were not packed and nobody was waiting when we arrived. Took 15 minutes for someone to bring us water - without asking if we wanted anything else to drink. We ordered apps and our food at that time. After 30 minutes of waiting with zero interaction from anyone, we assumed they forgot about us and we just left. Really sad because we heard great things. Now we will never know. Good luck with your restaurant.

Sunday Brunch, 11a to 3p, I popped in about 11:20a, party of 1 and seated promptly. Service was friendly and moved expeditiously. Brunch Menu offered Shrimp and Grits, so I figured I'd go that route, but those VooDoo Fries made me curious, so I got them too! Fries came out first in about 5min. Hot and fresh. Cheese Sauce, LaSha Sauce and Sour cream. I appreciated that the Fries weren't drowning in the sauces so that they weren't soggy and still had that fry crisp. The LaSha sauce had a hint of sweetness which paired well with the Cheese sauce. The sour cream didn't add much, can do without that. The Shrimp and Grits, huge bowl came out and definitely plenty of Grits in there. About 8 Shrimp and a few peppers and onions with sauce were on top. The flavor of the sauce and the shrimp elevated the Grits. It was just so much Grits! I saw some items coming out of the kitchen for other tables that I'd definitely like to try, so will be back again.

The food was good!! I had a shrimp pasta and was pleasantly surprised that it came with two decently sized slices of garlic bread! The music selection was a VIBE! A very beautiful background for photos as soon as you walk in! Now, that waiter....was MOVING, okay! Call him Superman because he made sure we were taken care of cracked the best jokes and not to mention...BABBBYY he was fine! Okay, Cafe De LaSha, let me find out yall my new spot.

Second thing, don't expect to pay the price that's on the online menu. I only went to this restaurant for the meatloaf and cabbage, and to try out their dressing, which they didn't have any of those. Third thing, I paid $57 for the worst meal I've had this year. I called before I left to ask if I could place an order on the phone (since the online ordering was not available). Whoever answered just said "No you may not" and hung up (wow, great customer service, I should have known then they weren't gonna have meatloaf.) I thought I'd arrived early enough in the day 2:30 to be getting lunch menu. But obviously, since my bill was $57, I guess I paid for dinner menu items, I definitely didn't pay the prices they showed online, I paid twice as much. When it comes to the food, the turkey wing had a weird vinegary flavor, the mac and cheese only had a layer of cheese on top, once you got past that pretty topping, there was just unsalted noodles. The black eyed peas just tasted like water. The flour wasn't cooked out enough in the chicken and dumplings, so it was more like just wet dough rather than dumplings. All the salt that all the other sides needed badly was used up in those salty greens, almost inedibly salty. The ratio of fruit to crust in the peach PIE, stop calling it a cobbler, was way off, like lots of dough, few peaches. And I don't know how they could call that mush banana pudding, it was very unpleasant, and I guess when they were making, someone forgot to put in the bananas! The yams and cornbread were good. I wasn't offered water, although menu says free water with each platter (and no, with good service, I shouldn't have to ask if it's listed as part of the meal).

I also hadn't realized it was a buffet style restaurant (when I bought a certificate for the place on restaurant.com, they had a whole menu to order from. Imagine my surprise when we got there to this lunch lady cafeteria looking place. They need to update their info on restaurant.com so people will know what to expect. The food was COLD, had no flavor, what they called dressing was stove top stuffing, the macaroni was dry as hell with burned cheese on top. There was a tray that had what looked like tiny cubes of potato floating in some greenish water. The lady told me it was steamed broccoli. No ma'am, that's the part of the broccoli we usually throw away, where's the part that looks like a tree? Honest to goodness, that was THE worst spaghetti I've ever eaten. Not only did it taste TERRIBLE, it had the mouth feel of applesauce, super mushy. You could tell it was not only really cheap pasta, but they obviously boiled it for an hour and 45 minutes. The jiffy'ish corn muffin was so dry it just crumbled. And the sweet potato...notice I didn't say candied...was just a chunk of boiled sweet potato, no seasoning, no syrupy sauce, no butter. Our plates were still almost just as full when we left as they were when they served it to us. There was a sign stating only one dessert per customer. The guy that served us our food at the buffet kept hovering around us until my friend said she couldn't take it anymore. So we asked if we could just have our dessert to go, they told us there would be an upcharge for takeout. I will admit, the fried fish was EXACTLY the way I like it, not still soft and/or wet, but not cooked to death, a nice light hard fry. And the weird murky colored tea was flavorful, again, a real southern soul food cook would NEVER serve powdered tea mix, but it was pleasant tasting. But $5 for a glass of tea? The fact that the place was totally empty on a Friday night at 7pm should have alerted us that folks ain't busting down doors to eat here. The decor was pretty nice, the people were very sweet, but that cooking...smh. I've never gone to dinner with a friend and been in and out of a restaurant so fast. I think we spent a total of 20 minutes there. My friend paid, but later told me the bill was $60. That was $52 more than what it was worth.

Message upon placing the order initially showed my order would be ready in an hour. An hour later got another "actual" confirmation that my food would be ready in yet another hour (so 2-hours after placing the order if you're keeping up). So at approximately the 2-hr mark I got a message my food was ready. Supposedly you can "skip the line" meaning you don't need to stand in the ridiculously long line for those ordering in person. I stood in the 2nd line (there's a separate line for online orders. Would be fantastic if they actually had any organization and if your food is truly ready. Mine was not! guy would come out of the kitchen periodically and ask for names, then disappear back into the kitchen. So I still had a 20-minutes wait - for food that I was told was ready. Anyway to the food. I paid almost $34 for meat, 3-sides and dessert. They do give you a lot of food so I was able to make 3 meals which boils down to a little over $10/meal. Not bad. The oxtails were tender and delectable. Macaroni and cheese was juicy a la Kraft Mac n Cheese. Tasted ok but I don't like juicy macaroni. The greens had a weird spice (dill?) that does not belong in greens. The sweet potatoes were ok, but again there was a weird additive that made the juice almost gel-like. I got a smaller than shot glass size cup with a tiny cube of cranberry sauce. ‍. Peach cobbler was perfect! The dining room was dark - no, not romantic - DARK. Not sure if that was intentional - or if it's like that all the time, but it was mid afternoon on an overcast day so turn on some lights people! I couldn't tell if the place was clean or not. Bottom line, given all of the issues, I probably won't need to go back there - but at least I can say I tried it. Oh and parking SUCKS.
