Didn't try any of their coffee drinks, just ordered brunch food to share with my friend. The Churro Waffle is PHENOMENAL, would order it again without a doubt! Crispy, deeply rich cinnamon goodness, not too sweet, but also would be fantastic as a dessert waffle. Chorizo Burrito - good but not great, I've had better tasting burritos. I feel like there was solid amount of chorizo, yet needed more hash brown for a more balanced burrito. The hot orange red salsa was a perfect spicy kick to add on top. Customer service was solid enough, our server was attentive with asking if we wanted small plates for sharing our dishes. Though, she never refilled our water glasses during our brunch visit. I get they were super busy for a Sunday, but still it doesn't take long to refill waters lol. Since we put our name and phone number down around noon on a Sunday, we waited almost an hour on the Yelp waitlist for a party of 2 (which despite us being quite hungry for brunch, the time flew by since we were chatting and chilling at the nearby park). FYI, their Yelp waitlist can get filled to capacity on Sundays and when it does, the restaurant will temporarily disable it. So like we had to, you will have to walk in and write your name on their Yelp waitlist instead of using the Yelp app to do this.
Caffe Olla is a wow from the moment you sit down. The breakfast hits all the right notes the sweet bread cart is a standout, and the scrambled eggs and fresh fruit were simple but perfectly done. Service was outstanding, warm and attentive without missing a beat. And the mascarpone latte? Absolute perfection rich, smooth, and worth coming back for on its own. A spot that makes a simple breakfast feel special.
Great place for a solid Mexican breakfast/brunch. I would highly recommend making reservations prior your visit; especially on a weekend since it gets pretty crowded. Yelp offers the join waitlist so you can save a spot for your visit The place is buzzing with people and waiters, pretty busy all around and not quiet. I ordered the chilaquiles divorciados which consist of the red and green chilaquiles side by side. It comes with a hefty side of refried beans topped with cheese and some rice. The dish over all is delicious and more than enough food for me. I also ordered cafe de olla which is coffee with cinnamon and sugar and to be honest, it was TOO sweet for me. I ended up asking the waiter if he could pour me some solid black coffee to go with it and he was kind enough to bring me a cup of black coffee to pour it in myself. After doing that, the cafe de olla was just right! The place is clean, including the restrooms even in such a busy place. The food comes out fast and they're attentive ensuring you are satisfied with your order. They have a cart with Mexican bread (a la dim sum). Depending on the bread you get, it will be added to your bill. We didn't have any issues finding street parking which was free.
4.8 stars for Cafe De Olla! We came here on a Saturday around 11 for a brunch/lunch. This place is popular and the wait was about 60 min so definitely take advantage of the Yelp Waitlist and check-in ahead of time to minimize your wait. Our experience was delightful. Everything tasted amazing, from the chilaquiles with the perfect spice kick and crunch factor to the creamy cafe de Olla. Servers were very friendly and vibes were great here. We will be back soon!~
January 2026 - Party of 2 on a Sunday around 1pm, 45 minutes wait. Food/Pricing - First time eating lunch here instead brunch food. The meat in the tacos were a bit dry and bland. The sauce had a nice kick and helped with the taste. Adding in the beans and rice into the tacos also made it less dry. Service/Ambiance - Service was prompt. A bit disappointed in my lunch choice but will likely be back for brunch. Parking - Plenty of street parking or public lots nearby.
Like the cafe de olla and choice of bread. Not a fan of the fried tamales however I think everything else on the plate was good so I'm sure the menu has yummy other options. Service was good as well. She had refills down. Busy restaurant. Reserve online prior to heading there for breakfast. Not a huge dining area but enough.
Absolutely loved Cafe De Olla in Monrovia! I got there right when it opened so there was no wait. The restaurant was cozy and the staff were so nice and attentive. There were alot of breakfast selections but we settled for Steak & Eggs and the Ham & Cheese Omelette, both came with a side (hashed brown, fries or fruit), and choice of toast. Food tasted amazing. Will definitely add this to my regular go-to spot for breakfast.
Be prepared to wait for weekend brunch. I came here with two friends around noon on a Sunday, and we waited about an hour to be seated. It wasn't too bad since the restaurant is in the heart of Old Town Monrovia. You can walk around and browse the nearby shops while you wait, and the time cruises by. They'll send you a text when your table is ready. The front desk staff and waiters were friendly, and we were greeted with warm smiles from the start. I ordered the menudo and a Ferrero iced latte--both were excellent. The menudo was one of the cleanest I've had. The tripe was cut into bite-sized pieces, and the broth was clear, without any heavy residue from the spices. The latte was strong with the perfect level of sweetness. I also grabbed a vanilla concha to go for my daughter, and it was delicious. The inside had the perfect amount of fluff. I'll definitely be returning :)
This was my first visit here and I came with high expectations but I left disappointed. Took my entire fam for breakfast, the two host at the front of the restaurant greeted us as soon as we walked in. They were both lovely, polite, and friendly and we were seated right away. Our waitress was not so friendly. Her table manners were cold and quite frankly she made our first experience at this popular, highly yelped restaurant not so great. After taking our drink orders, I asked for flavored creamer on the side for my cafe de olla..she responded with, "You know, this is a very sweet coffee, it already has sugar in it. Do you still want flavored creamer!?" Her tone was not pleasant. I responded with a, " Yes, please a couple flavored creamers on the side. Thank you". We were a party of five, I had the less complicated order: the Berry Waffle. Unfortunately, M y order was "overlooked". I felt bad for my family who all had their plates in-front of them and they insisted on waiting to eat until I received my order, unfortunately- they ate cold food while I had a hot waffle served 10+ minutes after them. My waffle was just okay. It had a light crunch to it. The blueberries and strawberries were fresh and that is what made the flavor on this plate. For the price, I expected more, It's a small waffle with a cup of mixed berries. The cafe de olla was good. However, it probably would have been amazing had I been able to taste it with a bit of flavored creamer, the way I, the customer, enjoys it. The quality of table service from this particular waitress was an epic fail all around. She had a bad attitude. She never even apologized for not placing my order and she didn't check in on our table periodically. Not at all what I expected. Esthetically, it's a nice restaurant in a nice location. Would I go back? Most likely not.
Great table service. It's seems like one guy does it all. I had to get his attention a couple of times but he looked pretty busy. Food was sooo good. Definitely worth coming back for. I had a vegetarian breakfast burrito for dinner. Yum! Saved 1/2 of it for the next day. My hubby also had breakfast burrito, my dad had enchiladas with molé sauce. They said they enjoyed their food also. Street parking only. Good luck with that.
Sunday brunch with the family! It was really convenient that they offered the option to join the waitlist through Yelp -- we didn't have to rush to the restaurant and were able to stroll around downtown while waiting for our table. Inside, it was moderately loud, and the bench cushions were worn out, which made sitting a bit uncomfortable (especially since I was wearing a skirt). The service was okay overall; they took quite a while to take our order, though it did improve after we experienced an issue. I tried the pie de guayaba, tres leches, chilaquiles, refried beans, tortillas, and torta de pierna. The desserts were delicious! The pie was perfectly balanced -- just the right amount of tartness, sweetness, and a great crust. My favorite dish was probably the chilaquiles; they were perfectly crispy, and all three salsas were delicious! I just wish they had a bit more garnish (like cheese and onions). The torta de pierna was okay -- the meat itself was flavorful, but the rest of the toppings were pretty average. Unfortunately, my sister also ordered a torta de pierna and found a small piece of glass in her sandwich. The staff handled it professionally, they comped the torta and offered a free dessert, but it was still a serious safety concern and made us a bit uneasy about the kitchen's quality control.
Had breakfast at Cafe de Olle in Monrovia and loved it! I got the All-in-One burrito with Mexican sausage and eggs -- super tasty and filling. My wife had the fajita omelette, which was also really good. Service was friendly, quick, and efficient. Really awesome decor with rustic feel. Nice spot to catch up with a friend over breakfast. YUMMY! I have been wanting to try this chilaquiles spot for a while now. Finally got the chance to! We got there early around 8AM on a Friday and the power happened to be out so no one was there. We waited five minutes and the power came back, thank goodness! We were seated and took our time looking at the menu. I ordered the Chilaquiles Divorciados with suizos and poblano sauce. I couldn't decide one one so I'm happy there was an option to try both. They were so delicious! After trying both, still can't decide on one that I like more than the other. They chilaquiles was very creamy with crisp chips. And the rice and beans added a nice side to it all. I got my eggs overeasy so it was a nice creaminess on top of the chips as well. I will say the suizo sauce had a little quick. Cleared out the sinuses. Of course I also ordered the Cafe De Olla. It was nice and warm for an unexpected rainy California day. It had the perfect amount of cinnamon taste with the bitter coffee. And the best part - free refills! The service was great! Quickly taking our order and refilling our waters and coffee. My favorite part was that they didn't try to rush us along our meal. We were able to just eat slowly and drink our coffee for a bit after we finished our meal. We even got coffee to go! Such a fabulous experience! I would definitely come back when I'm in town again! read more

The food was delicious I ordered the Denver omelette and my home girl ordered the San Ignacio chilaquiles. We also ordered the cafe de olla, one with ice and the other in a frappe. The cafe de olla was made just right and so delicious both ways. We also shared the banana Nutella French toast. It was so moist and delicious we didn't even have to add the syrup. Over all the food was great it's just the wait time was outrageous, almost 2 hours to get seated. Ooofff! The service was great so I guess that makes up for it. The ambiance well it is a bit bland maybe it needs a pop of color. Overall great. I will come again but maybe on a weekday! I really want to try their Ferrero rocher cake. read more

One of my favorite authentic mexican restaurants. We got chorizo con papas & Chorizo con Huevos 10/10 When i'm craving comfort food this is my good to spot. They also have variations of Pan dulce and pastries, such as cheesecake, cakes, and cookies. Service is always amazing, however it does get busy over the weekend so I would recommend signing in on your yelp if you don't like waiting. read more
We came here for Sunday brunch and weren't disappointed. There was a wait but we enjoyed Cafe De Olla and an Iced Chai Tea Latte while our table was ready. The staff are warm, welcoming, and accommodating that set the tone for a great dining experience. The vibe was bustling since it was Sunday coupled with stunning ambiance and esthetically pleasant decor that encouraged a great time. Now for the food, every dish we ordered was a culinary masterpiece with a perfect blend of textures and flavors. This showcased Management's commitment to high quality cuisine. A little hard to give this place a bad review as the food is decent. I've had better, but we've been coming here as a family for a long time and that all has come to a halt. Thanks in LARGE part to their rude as f* manager Max. I went on with my bf to eat breakfast 2 weeks ago. We had a plate that offers tamales, rice & beans. Except the tamales are fried. Not being too sure of the fried tamales, our wonderful waiter Julio offered to have me try the plate with one steamed and one fried. He has been our waiter almost every time we have been there and provides A+ service. ALWAYS!! Anyhow, went back again and asked to have the plate served the same way. All to have "Max" the manager come and tell me I had no idea what I was talking about and that would never have happened in his restaurant. First of all, I didn't know it was YOUR restaurant and second of all. Do not ever tell a customer they have no idea and even finish it with "sweetie" at the end. You think your condescending attitude is good PR you have no idea. Horrible management skills. I'm fact no people skills. You blatantly made me or tried to at best, make me feel like I was an imbecile, didn't work sweetie! Then bringing over pan dulce to try to make amends after I told you I was going to talk to the owner about this. You are anything but someone I would ever want working as management, Max! Your company should give your job to someone who is qualified. And.. more than anything. Learn from this! You do not know who you have waking through the doors. I could have been someone very important. And still may be. You have no idea. Treating everyone who walks through those doors with respect is something you need to learn Max.. aka sweetie. Lost good customers for your owners because of your lack of customer service. Very sad. Julio.. thank you for being what was the better part of our past experiences at Cafe de Olla. The kind of food that makes you want to come back for more. I prefer coming during their more "dead" hours because it can get extremely packed during breakfast/ brunch time. Their food honestly never misses! It feels like I'm having my mom's homemade chilaquiles. The coffee is the perfect finishing touch. read more

Ahhh the ambiance was amazing. A modern diner. The chilaquiles however was just okay. The green sauce was tasty but something was off with the red. Overall the San ignacio was surprisingly the tastiest! Their chicharron spread on the corn patties with melted cheese was delicious. Cafe de olla was on the sweet side for me but still good. I love old time Monrovia so I was so hyped to find a new brunch spot! I love the Mexican culture they infused in this place, from the bakery to the menu items. In December, they had a churro waffle and it was divine. I've already been twice and I'm from south OC! The servers are so sweet and lovely. The place is huge but beware of the line around 10am onwards. Last time I got the chilaquiles divorciados and I loved it because I like getting the best of both worlds. Their pancakes and waffles aren't too sweet and just the way I like it. They have a really big menu so I want to go back to try more! read more

we came on a Saturday evening. Plenty of parking ( Not in front of the restaurant) but within walking distance lets start with the service EXCELLENT++. I always ask a million questions, because I cant seem to decide what I wan to eat. Everyone was very patient and answered all my questions. I had the sopes with shredded beef (kinda estilo Sinaloa) very delicious the Ice coffee de Olla delicious . Other dishes Banana Pecan Waffles I was told they were yummy The poblano soup ( Delicious ) Molletitos very good there is plenty of seating available , cute looking restaurant, very clean and service is great. We will be back again, can't wait to try other things on the menu read more

This is a good place for coffee lovers & it's also good for breakfast. The wait staff was not so good. We were served by a male who seemed to have been very distracted or just not doing well that morning. There were 4 of us & he forgot to take some of our orders yet brought everyone the same coffee. Mine was supposed to be iced but he brought it hot. Nobody complained or said anything but the interaction was less than pleasant. The food was good. I had the beef fajitas & chilaquiles. read more

The service was really good very welcoming right when we walked in, we sat down and we got served right away it was y husbands birthday we both enjoyed a cafe de olla and it's free refills it was very good, I had enchiladas de mole I liked them they were okay not how I expected, my husbands plate on the other hand was awesome chilaquiles divorciados good flavor, I feel like for the price everything was a little expensive for mediocre food, it was more for the ambiance, the pan cart did come around and we got one strawberry pan it was soft very good, overall i guess I would come back for that cafe de olla! read more

Stopped by today for an earlier breakfast with my dad. We sat outside as I had my dog, surprisingly we were the only ones outside. Our server came quickly to take our drink order, and then our food order. After our food was brought, he came back out once and then we were completely forgotten. I had to go back inside to ask for additional item needed for my meal and then again for my check. Not the service I'm used to from this establishment!! This time we opted for their beef birria bowl, a big portion. The only thing that threw me off was the amount of limes brought to complement the size of the soup. To be exact 3 like edges. I had to go inside to ask for more limes, the server came out and confirmed what I wanted, and a few minutes later I received a few more. To my surprise, I was charged extra for the limes. Seemed odd as the original amount given didn't complement the size. I asked the server about the extra charge, and his response was anything additional is an extra cost. When I said the original portion wasn't enough, he just shrugged and repeated the same statement. As you order your food, and ask for additional items be ready for the additional cost. Also, corn tortillas are not handmade anymore. Sad, because that was a plus. read more

I took my brother here for the first time for breakfast. We enjoyed it very much. I got the CHILAQUILES DIVORCIADOS Add Carne Asada and it was delicious. Total was $26.45. It was nice having two different chilaquiles. I got the Azteca which was a red sauce and Suizos which is with a creamy tomato sauce. I enjoyed the suizos more because it had more flavor. I also got scrambled eggs and added carne asada to it as well. Thank you to our server Yaqueline for the recommendation. My brother got the MOLE ENCHILADAS Sub Puerco Beans. Total was $24.20. He said he enjoyed the mole sauce but he preferred my suizos chilaquiles instead. He also got the iced cafe de olla. Not to sweet which he enjoyed. The only down fault is that the tap water though isn't the greatest tasting. We were so full from sharing our plates we wished we saved room for the pan cart! There was an assorted amount of breads to choose from. They also had a dessert cart rolling around too. Everything looked so good! Other guests were enjoying a pan basket. Bathrooms were clean. The area we sat at was clean as well. No debris on the floors. Tables weren't sticky as well. We went on a week day so the wait was less than 10 minutes but I can definitely see this place for a long wait time for a weekend brunch or even for dinner. read more

3/19/24 Annnnnnd Good looort I'm behind again ! Let's get this review going . New spot for Brekky in Monrovia on the main strip. Great location . Had breakfast with fam. 1st timer here . Julio Ceasar was our server and very attentive and a pretty busy day there . I had the Bacon & Eggs with Hash-browns and French Toast . Everything was delicious. Nice good size menu and great portions of food . Had a delicious latte mocha iced . Was very tasty . Definitely will visit again when back in town . Ambiance is nice love the outdoor seating . Very large interior as well . If visiting the area highly recommend or in the area go and enjoy . Will not be disappointed.! Enjoy !!!! read more

We came here, via car, on a Sunday afternoon in late May 2024. We were here for lunch and the line was pretty long even though I put us on the waiting list on Yelp 31 minutes before arriving. We waited outside for an additional 30 minutes before we were seated outside since I brought my dog. I ordered the Berry Banana French Toast and an English Breakfast Hot Tea. The food was decent however, I spotted a short curly hair in my French toast. Since I was full already, I did not mention this to my waiter. The service was good but I don't think it is worth the wait. I liked that they were dog-friendly and the prices were reasonable. I found free street parking by the public library and I'm guessing on the weekends parking can get pretty crowded. read more

Staff service is very very nice and quick. The food taste really good and I would have this again and again. A lot of people come here so it is a long wait so that's a downside. This place wasn't loud it was very calm and quiet I loved it read more
