Service is friendly, but can get a little slow when busy, so make sure you order what you want before the server disappears into the crowd. The back patio is deceptively nice. I was looking for a place to eat in Old Town Monrovia and came across Sena on Myrtle after seeing that the reviews were pretty solid. I wanted to try a place that served something other than typical American food and also had a good alcoholic beverage menu, so this seemed like a good choice. The wait wasn't bad, and I was seated toward the back of the restaurant in a quieter outdoor area, which I really liked. There was plenty of shade, comfortable seating, plants used as décor, and an overall relaxed atmosphere. It felt tucked away enough to enjoy the meal without too much noise. Convenient for me as i had my little one with me. I ordered a watermelon jalapeño margarita, but with vodka instead of tequila, and Tajín on the rim. It was delicious! It had a refreshing, flavorful taste which was exactly the kind of drink I was hoping for. For food, I ordered the steakhouse tacos. The tacos were tasty and cooked really well, but the portion size was a little disappointing. They only come with two tacos, plus tortilla chips and sauce, so paying around $16 felt a bit pricey for what you get. The food itself was good, but I definitely wished the portion was a little more generous. Customer service was excellent. The staff was friendly, and I really liked my waitress. Found parking for free which is ALWAYS nice. The menu isn't that large which is kind of good. Less choices, less decisions to make; therefore, quicker for me to order. We were told by Nikki that the mayor of Monrovia was complaining that our party was "too loud" while drinking, enjoying the football game, and the $200+ worth of food we ordered. Not only did Nikki never have the courtesy to give us a formal one-time warning, she stood over us and proceeded to ask if we're "even from Monrovia". Who cares if we're from Monrovia or not? What owner would want to kick out their own customers who are happily spending money and enjoying their time? The best part? The Mayor sat down for less than 30 minutes before the left the residence, yet we're still forcefully removed from the premises. This situation could have been handled professionally by giving us a fair warning that our party was considered loud. But to come to our table, say our tab has been closed, stand over us and ask us "whats wrong with you"?? We're confused customers who are just hearing for the first time that we're too loud. Then when I complained that she's removing us for a couple who is no longer even dining there, she's going to call me "classless"? I will never dine here again. Of course we were the only ethnic group in the entire bar being told off by a white blonde woman. I want my money back. EDIT: The owner responded and deleted it. I got to go back to Sena On Myrtle with more friends and a fur baby, after we were turned away from another restaurant not allowing dogs. We knew Sena on Myrtle would seat us with my friend's dog and we are so glad we went here instead! We were seated outside on the Myrtle street patio on a Saturday night. It was pretty loud and rowdy inside and outside since there was a game going on but we didn't mind it. My friends and I got appetizers and dessert to share: sweet potato fries and churros to start. Our little fur baby guest sitting under the table also got her own thing off the dog menu (which is relatively knew I heard). We ordered her a chicken breast and it was served warm and cooked for her to eat as well. What a nice addition! We were so glad Sena is dog friendly. They even have a selection of non-alcoholic drinks for gals like me, like their non-alcoholic Virgin Michelada - I would come back just for this drink! I ordered their Summer Steak Salad and my friends ordered a variety of tacos. The salad was just what I was looking for - fresh with a little zing, which I loved. All the food was affordable, reasonably-priced, and delicious. Worst experience I have had coming to ANY bar. We had a small party come to the facility in hopes to celebrate a friend moving on to better things. After being there for roughly 45 min and ordering close to $200 worth of food and drinks, the "Owner" Nikki came up to my party telling us we need to keep it down, because the Mayor of Monrovia was sitting right behind us. After being told, I went to peak at who she was talking about and told me not to look and continued to yell at my friends, asking them what is wrong with them when we responded with confusion as to why we, and only we, were asked to keep it down. There were multiple parties present (with loud kids as well). Nikki continued to harass my party telling us we were cut off after everyone had ordered 2nd rounds of drinks. She asked us if we "were from Monrovia" and as someone who was BORN AND RAISED HERE, never have I ever experienced confrontation the way she handled it. Especially, since there was NO formal warning and just went 0-100 in a short time frame. After threats of posting cameras of us being loud, and calling us rude/unwelcoming/and obnoxious, while mouthing things under her breath as she walks away, my party left and as we were standing outside the place 2 stores down, she proceeds to stand outside the door staring us down with a group of her workers trying to antagonize us with stares. Great music. Seating inside and out. They even have a back patio. First visit I tried their Mediterranean Chicken Bowl. I gave this dish a 10/10 and recommended it to my sister my second visit and she loved it. My second visit I tried their Buffalo Wings. Crispy on the outside juicy on the inside. Made perfectly. 10/10. My third visit with hesitation I ordered the short rib chilaquiles with both red and green salsa per David's recommendation. Probably the best chilaquiles I've ever had. The chilaquiles were crispy and stayed crispy throughout. Both salsas were delicious and although green tends to be my favorite I actually preferred the red for this one. This is our favorite happy hour spot in Monrovia! My sister and I loveee the shrimp tacos, it never disappoints. On top of that, I always get the crispy chicken slider along with the $4 happy hour taco (one time it was carne asada, another time was pescado-- both were delicious). My favorite go-to drink would be the hibiscus margarita or the red sangria-- would actually get both some days. My friend enjoys the salsa and chips for $3. Service is pretty good, ambiance is nice. Sena had been one of my family's favorite restaurants for years. Unfortunately, we've noticed that the cleanliness and food quality have really declined over the last several months. The tables, chairs and floors are dirty. The high chairs for kids look like they've never been cleaned. The menus are terribly sticky. When you walk through the restaurant to get to the back seating area, you can peek in the kitchen and see that it's filthy. The food quality also seems to have gone down. Our meals haven't been nearly as good as they used to be. We're so disappointed because this used to be our go-to place to bring visiting family and meet up with friends. We hope it returns to its previous greatness so we can enjoy it once more! read more

Taste wise, I think the seasoning of the chicken couldn't stand on equal footing with the havarti cheese and sriracha as they were too overpowering. the tenderness of the chicken was there though. al pastor: As a control, i opt'd for al pastor to get a gauge of their taco chops, figuratively speaking. I want to say it generally felt tasteless, the guacamole didn't have enough seasoning. I'd probably expect maybe a pineapple piece to accompany the taco too for aesthetic/taste. for $4.5 on Taco tuesday, I'd expect at least two tacos probably for that price not just for one short rib grilled cheese: Feeling still a bit peckish, I ordered a short rib grilled cheese. I'll say I couldn't taste any short rib as I feel it was masked with the aioli/caramelized onions/provolone cheese. I would not recommend this the next time I go and probably go for the more traditional American options. Parking is fairly convenient around here as there are various free public parking spots dotted around the street. We love Sena and go regularly but service has been really bad lately. The host is really unfriendly (no welcome, hi, how are you doing). We've had a lot of good dinners here and enjoy the food but at this particular time service was really bad and slow. Food was decent, though the fries tasted like fish (maybe fried in same oil?). The servers saw we needed service but ignored us and went to chat behind the bar against the wall, giggling and gossiping.
