Terrible and rude service. The guy demanded a 30% "service fee" and when we objected, he kicked us out. That is the worst service I have seen in my life. If he can't run a business with the actual prices, then raise prices and let the customer decide. He answered it is your problem to be in a rush, not ours. After dining at several spots in Esperanza, we decided to try Café Del Mar. Lenny was our server, and HANDS DOWN, the friendliest most personable waiter we had in any of the restaurants in Esperanza. The view is beautiful right by the water, and the atmosphere is very inviting. We ate at Cafe Del Mar 3x during the short 3 day trip we had on the island. Because of Lenny's service, positive and welcoming vibe/attitude, he is the reason we came back AND will come back again. The food was also great, we loved the breakfast burrito, and the coco Coffee was a delicious change from the typical coffee and milk, as it has coconut milk in it. Thank you again Lenny! read more

This place gets five stars for being the only restaurant with an espresso machine! It saved my mid-afternoon sleepy life each day of vacation! However it's not it's only saving grace. We never ate much mostly bcus this was our warm up but we had these yummy bolitas de yuca con salsa de cilantrillo.. woah...creamy mashed yucca goodness on the inside and crispy on the outside. cilantrillo dipping sauce is the perfect absolute cilantro tangy pairing. To drink we had a variety of fresh fruit mojitos which @earlymorning_brz says is a beach in ur mouth. i had the blueberry which was super refreshing and homegirl had the passion fruit which was way better than mine. Only place in Esparanza that you can get a real espresso (that I'm aware of). Fair prices on coffee, food is a bit overpriced for quality. Bfast food is no better/worse here in comparison to trade winds. The sausage they use is the run of the mill frozen stuff. Home fries are just cooked potatoes, not "real" homefries. Their bread is excellent and you can buy loaves if you would like. I liked their open patio and it was a good place to stop when it was pouring! read more

Extremely racist restaurant with the rudest waiter I've ever met. We came from China to spend vacation in Vieques, and like everyone else we just wanted to have a good time. After patiently waiting for 40 minutes, we asked if we can have our food. We were told we need to wait for others who ordered before us and we can cancel our order if we don't want to wait. However, we were literally one of the first ones here, and others who came after us had gotten food already. The kitchen told us they haven't even made the food, but the waiter said we cannot cancel the order. The waiter also screamed at our face that we were rude and told us to get out. We don't ask for the best food ever but I would not want to eat at a racist restaurant. 1 star is too high for this place. read more

I stopped in while my family and I were at the beach across the road. I mentioned to the bartender that I was soaking wet and she said "oh you're fine, come on in". The place was empty sans one local nursing a coors light and the bartender was great. We chatted while she made excellent drink recommendations so I ordered drinks to go. Just as she was finishing up and I was about to pay, some asshole who worked there came in and started yelling at me about the sand on my feet and how wet I made the bar. At. The. Beach. The bartender came to my defense immediately informing him that 1. He was a douchebag, and 2. She had already given me and my fresh-from-the-beach wetness the green light to enter, so he needed to chill out. He continued on, but I gave him a piece of my mind and although the bartender was great, I'll never return. I gave her a nearly 50% tip and walked off understanding why the place was so empty. I would give 0 star if I can. The waiters are extremely rude. Me and my friends came into the restaurant around 9:10 am. Everyone else who came after us got their food, but we didn't. So my friend wanted to cancel the yogurt bowl she ordered. The waiter first told us that since the food has not been made yet, we could cancel our order. But then when I went to ask the waiter where our food are at when I saw everyone who came in after us got their food, the waiter said I'm being rude and told me that he's going to ask me to pay for everything even though I've already told him in a vey nice way that we want to cancel the order and he agreed with it. The waiter kept telling me that he's been watching, but all of my friends can agree that we saw people who came in after us got their food. I don't know if they didn't serve our food on time because of our color of skin, but that seems to be the case to me. I don't know how to not make the assumption that they are racists while we are the only people in the restaurant who have different skin color than other people and we are the only people who don't get served!
