This small friendly service local spot. It is worth the short walk away from El Malecón if you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican food. The lechón was flavorful, tender, and clearly prepared with care, and the arroz con gandules tasted homemade and comforting. It's not a fancy place, but that's part of the charm--you're getting real local flavors at a neighborhood restaurant. If you want traditional food and don't mind walking a bit off the main strip, this place is a great find.

A wonderful Local home made Latin restaurant ! The owner is friendly , bring us a glass of home made rum ..... the food at here are so fresh and delicious !!!! We will back for sure !

So glad we walked into the neighborhood a bit to eat at this little gem. It was one of the best meals of our trip to Vieques. I had the whole fish, and my son had the chicken hind quarters. It couldn't have been better! Even the rice and beans were perfect. Great setting, as it felt like we were eating at a friend's house. If I return to Vieques, I will certainly return to Rancho Choli. Oh yeah, bring cash!

Food was good but be careful, they basically doubled the price when we went to pay. Watch out for the scam, "the taxes are high" if you're using a card.

Staff was friendly but i would recommend to skip the fish . I spent 50$ for a fish dish . Totally overpriced and full of spines . Plantains were mediocre . Also they only have PayPal and even that day wasn't working so we had to go to an atm to get the cash.

Delicious and authentic PR fare. We had the chicken pasteles, grouper filet with side of rice, plantains and triple seafood salad. The seafood salad was small for the $26 otherwise everything else was reasonably priced. The outdoor seating area isn't fancy but you're going for the food.

My 3 friends and I stumbled upon Ranchi Choli a few blocks from our Airbnb in Esperanza, Vieques island. This was the experience we had been hoping for but hadn't found on Vieques until our 4th day here. We had pasteles (shrimp, pork) which are made in banana leaf like Tamales but much softer and made with squash base), whole fish (grouper), chicken, rice, and beans. So absolutely delicious. The family is so friendly. And the passion fruit and tamarind juices great too! Outdoor eating homey yet festive. Highly recommend!

Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! Came here on a recommendation by a couple who ate here every night. They weren't wrong. If I had a Puerto Rican grandma, i would hope and imagine this is how she would cook. Wow. Incredible octopus dish. Great hospitality. We were here off season so we had the place to ourselves for lunch. It's also BYOB with a cooler nearby to keep your drinks cool. Very reasonable prices.... They should charge double. Restaurant is a street up from the ocean... cool little garden seating area in the back. We are coming back for the pork on Friday.

Not many food options on Vieques and this is one of the better ones. Really cute place that's family owned. Food is good and has that home cooked feel to it. Juices are good and I particularly enjoyed the fish we got. Also ordered the chicken, which was nicely cooked as well. I did think the food was overpriced but overall was happy with the meal.

Humble local eatery where customer service isn't the strong point. The food is decent. If you're in a hurry, I do not recommend eat here. They do accept paypal payments for what that's worth and no credit cards, possibly ATH debit.

Delicious, authentic food. Very homemade vibe. I got the pork chop, rice and beans. Others in my family enjoyed the shrimp with garlic, and chicken leg. Service was very welcoming.

Service was wonderful, ambiance is great. Like you're eating in your backyard. Food is actually home cooked, very simple and full of flavor. Chef cooks everything according to what's fresh for the day. Highly recommend the arepas if they're available!! Again, simple but extremely satisfying. If you're looking for something that's authentic I suggest you make a stop here.

From the moment you step through the doors, you are wrapped in a vibrant, welcoming ambiance that perfectly balances lively energy with cozy, authentic charm. But the true star of the show is the food. Every single dish bursts with rich, ancestral flavors, serving up exceptional quality that respects deep-rooted family traditions. The absolute standout is their Bistec Encebollado (beef steak with onions). The steak is perfectly tender, marinated to perfection, and smothered in a mountain of sweet, caramelized onions. Paired with a side of fluffy white rice, savory beans, and perfectly caramelized sweet plantains (maduros), it is pure culinary comfort. You can quite literally taste the love and history in every bite--it doesn't just feel like you're eating at a restaurant; it feels like you've been invited into a family's home kitchen where recipes have been perfected over generations. The Verdict: Incredible food, an unforgettable atmosphere, and a beautiful dedication to heritage. El Jibarito is a masterclass in tradition done right. Don't pass this one up!

We were a large group, so there was about a 30-minute wait for a table, but that's part of the fonda-style experience. A special thank you to the staff for the excellent service and warm hospitality. The food, the atmosphere, and the friendly staff made this one of our favorite dining experiences in Old San Juan. We will definitely be back!
