I had one last attempt at visiting Cafe Du Monde before departing MSY Airport, since I did not get the chance to visit the iconic French Quarter location. I had a solid hour before my flight back to Chicago, so I figured why not. This location is conveniently located in the main concourse at the entrance to Concourse B which is right outside of TSA. For the love of mocha! I ordered a medium cafe mocha w/ an order of beignets which were three per order. I kid you not, there was enough powder in that bag of beignets that would have made "Pookie" from the movie New Jack City lose his God dang mind. I savored each moment in-between eating each beignet, and while taking sips of my cafe mocha with a smirk on my face from the initial bite to the last. And yes, both were delicious! So delicious that I nearly considered re-visiting before my flight just so I could pick up another order of beignets. I had a pleasant ordering experience at this Cafe Du Monde location. As like I, if you did not make it out to the French Quarter location, I recommend visiting prior to your departure. I always thought this place might have been too overhyped but damn it really does taste good/different. I grew up only ever eating at the one in Disneyland in California. We usually end up going to this MSY airport location because our New Orleans vacations are too packed to hit a proper Cafe du Monde, especially the more iconic locations like the original French Quarter one or the newer City Park one. The good thing about this airport location is the line moves relatively fast. The beignets aren't as fresh (since they priority speed at their airport and prepack the beignets in advance) but still tasty and much better than anything you'll find outside of new orleans. With this location being inside of the airport, I would have thought the prices would be higher, or the quality would be a little lower. Heck, I expected both of these to be the case! Located inside the New Orleans Airport, this spot is convenient for picking up coffee and/or beignets while traveling through. As long as you're traveling during their business hours of course! Wish they would open past 6 pm though! I do like that their prices aren't too much higher than the stand alone locations in town. So often businesses jack up their prices for their airport locations, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Also, this location accepts cards and isn't cash only like their city locations. I found that to be odd but very convenient I also wish they would serve their beignets in a box or tray instead of a bag. All the powered sugar seems to fall to the bottom of the bag instead of staying on the individual pastries. I tried two locations; one in City Park & the other at MSY airport near gate B, I believe. You can get 3 beignets for less than $5 & you only really need 1 or 2 so one order is perfect for sharing. They were soft & sweet, but not fluffy per se; more dense & bready but they taste so good, it didnt matter. The heaps of powdered sugar really set off the warm, sweet bread. Ok, I know the airport location is not THE original location but how can you bear clean indoor environment and essentially no line?!? Well I couldn't pass it up and got this huge iced latte and even a bonus beignet in the bag. As for the coffee strong and well balanced not too watered down and perfectly creamy. Very fast and efficient service by the way. The beignet are heartier than a donut with more chew more bite. I call it a stick to the ribs type donut or maybe just what you need if you overdrank the night before. Very long standing tradition that you take part of when you try this place. And the merch and old style canister of ground coffee is pretty neat too (not in photos but I tried the cold brew with the ground chicory blend and it definitely wakes you up) definitely recommend giving this place a try if you are visiting read more

It was my first time in New Orleans and my top priority was getting authentic beignets from Cafe Du Monde. However, because I lost track of time and most locations are on temporary hours due to COVID, I didn't get a chance to go. I was super sad...until I realized there was a location in the airport! My flight was early, about 6am, but lucky for me, the airport location opens at 4am...SCORE! After going through security, I went full steam ahead to Cafe Du Monde and ordered beignets and a water (I don't drink coffee lol). The beignets did NOT disappoint! (And they were pretty good for soaking up a hangover too haha). I'll definitely be back in New Orleans to get more beignets, hopefully at the French Market location. read more

We were in New Orleans just overnight for a cruise. We didn't have time in the morning to go search one of these places out, but heard the beignets were the best ever. While coming out of our gate when we arrived, I saw this restaurant sitting there and I knew we needed to try it on our way home. The beignets were really good, they were soft, flavorful and covered in powdered sugar (don't wear black when you go ). The price is really good for what you are getting, and in my opinion much cheaper than most airport places. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I heard others say it was good, and you can even buy it to go home and make it in your home machines. Staff was friendly, but the line took a little bit to get through. I would absolutely stop here again if I'm ever in New Orleans or passing through the airport again. read more
