Quintessential NoLa. You can't come to New Orleans and not have a beignet at Cafe Du Monde. This location is inside the Riverwalk Outlet mall - ambiance is not as cute as the French Quarter location, but this one is air conditioned, so if you want the goods while it's humid outside, this is the spot! Order a large hot cafe au lait (16oz half chicory coffee, half hot milk) and share the beignets. One order comes with three. Shake the powdered sugar off into your cafe au lait. Takes cash and physical credit cards, but no tap or Apple Pay.

Ah!! but the real reason is the chicory coffee (or hot chocolate or tea) and the three beignets that come in each order ($10 should cover this order and a tip). Do not accept an imitator!!

The line moved very quickly and they are super efficient. Chicory coffee tasted a bit water down but otherwise definitely recommend stopping by it's your first time.

Well I wasn't feeling hot cafe au lait but saw they had it in a frozen mocha version so I ordered that and I abandoned dipping my beignets in the cafe. I paid around $26 and some change for a small hot cafe au lait and my large mocha cafe au lait and two (2) orders of the lightly beignets. The beignets here are small and they come in threes. So I got 3 for me and 3 for a friend. I only could eat one for full transparency and saved the other two for much later. Beignets are too sweet and doughy for me. They were tasty but too much for me. This location is in the mall and there was a little line waiting to place orders so be prepared to wait. There is seating inside like almost like food court type of seating to me. Be prepared to sit in and have powdered sugar everywhere. I wasn't sure if they put so much powdered sugar on the beignets that it wastes everywhere or if they do not do as good of a job cleaning table and sweeping the powdered sugar off the floors. But it looked like everyone had powdered sugar on their clothes and under the tables and on the chairs. So be ready to get covered in sugar enjoying beignets here. The staff were nice and professional. I did somehow get four beignets in my bag because they had one beignet fried fused to another. The beignets were crispy on the outside and moist and doughy inside and sweet to me. They also were fresh and hot as you can see them being rolled out and cut and fried. I recommend this spot.
Best thing: Fresh, hot beignets piled high with powdered sugar. Type of Food: Traditional New Orleans Coffee Shop / Bakery (Famous for chicory coffee and French-style beignets). Review: If you want the classic Cafe Du Monde experience without the massive open-air crowds of the French Quarter location, this spot in the Riverwalk mall is a great alternative. The coffee is consistently good--both the classic Cafe Au Lait and the Mocha hit the spot. The stars of the show, though, are the beignets. They come out hot, fresh, and absolutely covered in a generous mountain of powdered sugar. Cons: It is a relatively small location tucked into the bottom floor of the mall, which means seating can be limited. Because of its popularity, you should be prepared to stand in a line, though thankfully the staff keeps it moving pretty fast. Thumbs up / Thumbs down: Thumbs up! I would definitely go back for a quick, delicious fix when shopping or walking along the riverfront. read more
Cafe Du Monde has various locations across NOLA so you're likely to stumble upon one. This one however is located in the Riverwalk Outlets and in comparison to the one I passed near French Market MUCH less intimidating. Also this one is not cash only! It was hot so I wanted the frozen Cafe Au Lait, and I was very happy with my choice. It was well sweetened compared to the Iced one, and a refreshing caffeine boost! The staff work fast, as soon as your order comes out your mouth the tray is being prepped for it! You can watch the beignets being made from an observation window into the back, they are fresh but not piping hot which was okay with me. Out of the ones I had on my trip they were my favorite, pillowy, with a mountain of powdered sugar that coats the top of your mouth LOL! There were always a few people sitting eating or ordering, but the tables were never packed and spots to sit were always available too. The beignets were so warm and fresh when we came here. The service was fast. We ordered and they hand it over to you. There are plenty of places to sit in the area. The beignets were delicious specially with hot cocoa! A good snack, breakfast, or dessert. The ambiance was super cute too! read more

Went on a Friday afternoon and there were plenty of empty tables inside. We're able to sit and be served. Had beignets to share an iced cafe au lait and a cafe au lait praline. All were amazing. Would definitely recommend. Might be back for some of the merch read more

Having been to the Cafe Du Monde location in City Park, we found the one here to be underwhelming. The beignets were warm but not freshly fried compared to the busier location in City Park so they tasted softer and chewier instead of crispy and hot. Otherwise, the drinks were good and staff were friendly. There is no wait at this location and plenty of seating. If this is your first time trying Cafe Du Monde, I recommend skipping the one at this location and going to one of the other two locations. read more
We only got cafe au lait and coffee to conquer the afternoon slump, so I can't speak to the begniets at this location. But the service was fast and efficient, albeit not very friendly, and the coffee did its job. It's worth noting that credit cards are accepted, unlike the cash only French Quarter location. read more

Located in the Outlet mall. If you want to avoid the crowds and don't care about being at the one in the French Quarter, then come to this one. Not much ambience (it's in an outlet mall), but you can seat yourself very comfortably. The Beignets are made fresh, but I do prefer the ones at Cafe Beignet. Nevertheless, it's compulsory to get them at Cafe DuMonde for first time visitors. The Au Lait was okay; not very strong coffee in this drink and the milk seems rather watered down. They have some souvenirs to buy here but there is a Cafe DuMonde retail store that has way more stuff, a couple of steps from the Decatur street location, where I bought a cool t-shirt. read more

Small location located in the outlet mall. There was a long line even during the day on a Friday (though possibly because there was a conference in town) but it moved pretty fast. Since it's in a mall, the location is a bit odd but there's plenty of seating. I enjoyed the frozen cafe au lait a lot (tbh tasted better when it started to melt) but I felt that the beignets were better at Cafe Beignets! Those were fresh and hot, but these felt lukewarm and stale and didn't have the same pillowy texture. The dough also tasted different here. Maybe we just happened to get an old batch or maybe it's dependent on location? But would recommend the cafe au lait! Also it's not cash only, they take card! (but I think no apple pay) read more

We stopped at Café Du Monde while passing through New Orleans with our family of 9, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The beignets came out hot, covered in powdered sugar, and disappeared within minutes (which says a lot with this crew). The coffee was strong, simple, and exactly what you want with something sweet. Traveling with a big family can be chaotic, but this was one of those stops that just felt easy quick service, plenty of space, and everyone left happy (even the picky ones). It's one of those places that actually feels like part of the experience of being in New Orleans, not just another stop for food. We ended up capturing the whole moment because it was too good not to definitely one of our favorite stops so far. Would 100% come back. read more
An institution, and it earns the title for a reason. While the line is long the speed at which it moves is remarkable. They have service down to a science here. While not the most pleasant or leisurely - they get you in and out with speed - the beignets make up for it. Each order comes with three beignets and more powdered sugar than you would imagine. Iced coffee, sodas, and water are the only other things on the menu. Open 24 hrs so really no reason not to visit when you're in New Orleans. read more
Glad we got to check out Cafe Du Monde while we were in New Orleans, especially this out of the way location that wasn't as packed as the OG location. The beignets are good! They're soft, pillowy, and sweet. Do I think they're better than of the other beignets spots around town? Not particularly. But I'm especially glad that I could try these without waiting in the long line and fighting for a table at the OG location. Overall, I'm glad I got to try these and see what the hype is all about; but I prefer some of the other beignets spots around town. read more
After all the talk about this place, as a tourist, I was pretty underwhelmed. The beignets weren't super hot and had a LOT of powdered sugar across the top. I had to shake some of it off because there was so much. The coffee is also pretty bland as you can't add any syrups so if you enjoy a sweetened coffee like I do this wouldn't be the place for you. As far as service don't expect people to be too personable as they were more focused on fast service as opposed offering customer service. The attendants that cleaned the tables were super nice though. The space is fairly tight and can get loud quickly, so grab and go would be the best method. read more

*Delayed post from Jan '25. NOTE: This is a cash only business! Delighted to visit this lesser known Cafe Du Monde as the original was super packed when we passed by. While it may not be the original, this place still has a charm and a wonderful view of the river right outside. We ordered the standard 3 piece Beignet with a French Roast Coffee and Hot Chocolate. The beignets weren't as fresh as we hoped, probably because they weren't keeping up with demand as often as the other spot, but it was still delicious. The hot chocolate was super sweet, so if you're not a fan of overly sweet, I'd recommend the coffee instead. The amount of powdered sugar was crazy, so you'll still get your sugar fix. read more
We were here on a very clear mission to eat / taste test the best beignets in New Orleans. Cafe du Monde is famous for theirs, so it was our first stop. Wow, what a let-down. The line was atrocious, but we'd planned for a line and were fine waiting. Tables were hard to come by, and that's also fine. It's a popular spot - what can you expect? But the beignets themselves were disappointing. It's located in a mall and ambiance is nil. Okay, not ideal - but who cares, you're here for beignets. But it was all very meh. For reference, beignets are supposed to be puffy and pillowy, light and fluffy, with a generous dousing of powdered sugar. These were flat and dense, loaded with an atrocious amount of sugar that would cover any semblance of flavor other than sweet. I left thinking maybe I just didn't love beignets? But the rest of our New Orleans beignet taste testing tour proved that to not be the case. I just didn't like THESE. The other Cafe Du Monde location by the French Market was quite good. Solid C. As a tourist visiting NOLA there's the big beignet dilemma of Cafe Du Monde or Loretta's: who's better? A couple other spots too but they didn't make the cut in comparison for me. Alright, let's get to it. The pricing on the amount you get is a much better deal and the sizing too. However, when eating these I was expecting a soft pillowy bite but instead it had a much denser chew which I wasn't too fond of. It did have a light crisp outer dough from being fried and the loads of powder sugar obviously give it a nice sweet taste given these are plain beignets. Value: 10/10 Taste: 8/10 Messy: 10/10 haha Customer Service: 10/10 These were good, not great. I know I will have many locals and tourists coming after me with pitchforks but whenever I come back in the future I'm totally trying them again! Could've been an off batch they had that day. Lol, wishful thinking. FYI - They only accept CASH. read more
Worth it for the novelty and classic NOLA experience! Ordered the cafe au lait and beignets; both delicious and as you would expect! Very fresh and warm, and super quick service despite ever-extending long lines on the weekends. Lots of indoor seating by the cafe/in the outlet mall; can also find outdoor seating by the riverwalk. You get three beignets in a single order, which was definitely more than enough for one person! read more
The Baseline: For coffee and beignets the coffee must be rich and bold, the pastry must be hot, pillowy, and sweet, and the service atmosphere must provide the experience. Food: Cafe du Monde serve coffee and beignets. They also will serve OJ/soda too. I ordered a Cafe Au Lait with a plate of beignets. The beignets are a little doughier than others I have tried and I actually like the thicker beignets. Service: The staff are friendly, helpful, and efficient. This is more like a food court mall experience than the service at the main location next to Jackson Square. Ambiance: This is a mall location for Cafe du Monde and is accessible for the mall and convention center patrons. The cafe is decently busy at most times and hours. read more

I usually visit the French quarter location but this one was within walking distance of my hotel. My GPS kept sending me to the wrong place so it was a little challenging to get here, but it's INSIDE the shopping center. Service was quick and easy. My beignets were hot and fresh, as usual. The prices and ordering process were clear and easy to follow. We were in and out in no time! It was nice soaking up the AC while enjoying our beignets and coffee before taking a quick walk on the boardwalk. read more
When visiting Nola, you have to try this place once. Cafe beignet is better, yes, but this was still really good. Food: we only ordered beignets and coffee. Coffee wasn't good, but the beignets we had were super fresh out of the fryer. So, crispy on the outside and hot and chewy on inside. See pictures and video. Service: it wasn't busy when went mid-morning weekday, so service was super pick. Ambience: the outdoor location is bustling busy, but this indoor mall location was much more chill. Just an unassuming mall spot with some tables that allow you to see the waters through windows. Worth a trip to try and decide for yourself! read more

Cafe Du Monde has a reputation and this location didn't hold it up. It is in a mall so keeping that in mind, I expected mall service and well that's what we got sort of. Expect very inappropriate music and inappropriate language from the employees. The beignets were not completely done in the middle and very heavy when typically they are a lighter feeling dough once fried. The cafe mocha was a powdered watered down drink with very little coffee. Overall, I would rather wait in an hour long wait for the main location than return here. read more
