I came here on a nice hot summer day because I keep hearing how cute and quaint this place is. I get there and it is indeed a quaint, little place. There is maybe space for about 6 people inside to sit comfortably. You order at the counter and there are few base coffees to choose from as well as some baked goods. I had read that their home-made cold brew was really good and to get it with the Gentilly creme topping. I ordered just that. It came out quick and I sat outside. The Gentilly creme is SO good. I slurped that up in under a minute. The coffee itself was a little bitter, but the Gentilly creme did give it a nice balance of sweet to break up the bitter. I loved the outside area. It was a nice lush space with lots if hanging baskets, covered with fans so it was cool(ish). The fence lined the seating with lighting for a nice ambience. There are maybe 6 two-seater tables out there. I did not eat so I cannot comment on the food, but I used the restroom while I was there which was nice and clean. Overall very nice cafe, romantic even. I will be back to try the baked goods. read more

Got their special of the day, the "Croque Monsieur" with béchamel sauce, and it was actually really good. The sauce was kind of like a white gravy -- creamy, rich, and paired perfectly with the sandwich. It was packed with meat and cheese, and the flavor was honestly finger-licking good. I wasn't too impressed with the coffee though. It wasn't bad by any means, just pretty mediocre. read more

I initially wanted French Toast, but because I got behind the power curve, I decided to grab something quick, so I stopped in for an early morning BIRTHDAY BREAKFAST... Happy Birthday To Me, right. I found it to be a quaint neighborhood cafe with hours from 7am - 3pm; perfect cafe hours. As I approached the cashier, I noticed a middle aged lady with bright fiery red hair... I just knew from her vibrant appearance, she'd be bubbly, BUT she wasn't. Lol. I notice a French accent, which was quite a surprise, there was no mention of such in any of the reviews I read. I ordered a croissant sandwich because from a picture that I saw online, it looked to be a generous size & quite scrumptious. Much to my dismay, while tasty, it was much, much smaller than its online appearance. The food was delivered to me, which was quite pleasant & unexpected. I ordered a latte with Oat Milk as my tummy won't tolerate the cow's milk. Moooooo. Lol. I like the quaint feel indoors and to note, there's an outdoor patio to offset the intimate interior. On this morning, it was a bit too cold to sit outside and I'd like to say I'll return, but that's a lie. The reason you ask, well I didn't feel welcomed upon my entrance. When ordering my sandwich, the red haired cashier got snippy with me after I asked a question by saying "if you don't see it on the menu, we don't have it"... I was like hmmmmmm ok. It was my bday, so I was in the BEST of spirits & mood, maybe RED woke up on the wrong side of "le lit", which is bed in French . Definitely not something I want to be part of my BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE, so I'm penning this review and erasing it from my mind. If you find a parking spot, grab it because as stated, it's in a neighborhood, so parking is limited. $9.30 for a small breakfast sandwich is a bit much, so bring extra coins if you come, you'll need it. This has been a great spot to get breakfast with the dogs! They have a lovely side area to sit with fans. I had a mushroom patty with Brie, strawberry jam, and tomato on a croissant that was delicious and pretty filling! Everyone there is so kind too. read more

Le Ponce has their Galette des Rois (golden, flaky puff pastry) available for the Mardi Gras season. There's a choice between chocolate filled and almond filled. You can also get it by the slice or a whole cake. I got a slice of the almond warmed up and it was really delicious! Light and flaky! Almost delicate. It's not overly sweet, which was perfect. Le Ponce is a great spot for breakfast or lunch! The build-your-own sandwich is a great idea, and I LOVED the herb goat cheese. They have a small indoor space with a few tables and also a courtyard that you have to enter through the restaurant. I will say that you pay extra for dairy-free milk, but then they have free daily-free milk you can add to your coffee at a separate table...? So, I'd opt out of milk in your coffee to save the up charge read more

Once again the Bayou St John neighborhood has a lovely coffee shop that serves breakfast sandwiches and more! Le Ponce offers beautiful croissants, breakfast sandwiches, choquettes (slightly sweet French pastries that are delectable! The 'sweet' cousin of the gougère) Bright and clean, the smell welcomes you in the front door. I was greeted by the owner who was lovely, and ordered a fabulous breakfast sandwich with compte cheese, bacon and scrambled eggs on one of their picture perfect croissants. I sipped on a large cold brew iced coffee while my order was prepared. The inside space is light and bright and clean. Le Ponce offers its guests WiFi and plenty of power outlets throughout the indoor space. A small lovely outdoor area is also available with seating in the front side and back. We were excited to try this place, as there were many good reviews. The staff was not friendly upon arriving and almost rude throughout our transaction. In my personal opinion, the pastries appeared small and overpriced so we did not purchase any. My husband did get two coconut macaroons which he said were OK. Unfortunately our coffees were the biggest disappointment. We ordered a flat white and an iced latte. Both were terrible in taste and we tossed them shortly after purchasing. Such a charming place for breakfast. Popped in this morning with my sister for an impromptu bite. I had recently saved this place on my Instagram from a post I saw. So happened today I was close enough in the city to try the breakfast sandwich for myself. The croissant was delicious. I didn't you had the option of choosing how your sandwich built. So it was fun trying to be creative with my sister and the assistance of the cashier. The staff was so pleasant and I enjoyed hearing them speak French to on another. Felt like I was being transported out of the city. We were also so pleasantly surprised that when you order tea it comes with a kettle and cup! It really brought the experience to another level. Pros: 1. Location: such a beautiful part of the city! 2. Music: most coffee shops and eating establishments play loud pop music, making it difficult to work, read, or have a conversation. The music they were playing actually fit the vibe. Cons: 1. Dude at the register/barista: no greeting, no smile, no "how are you?", no "thank you", no "bye," no "have a good day." He actually seemed annoyed that we walked in. And in the check-out process, there was no "no tip" option. You can bypass it, but they don't make it obvious. 2.
