I stopped into this place while driving through dedham. The lox sandwich was great, thick pieces of tomato, lots of smoked salmon, and generous amount of red onion. The place was small and felt cozy. The bagels are ehhh. They're definitely not fresh. I was hoping for something slightly toasted on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside. 1 step above the bagged bagels. The bagels here are really fresh and delicious! I've been coming here for 10 plus years. My favorite is an egg bagel and chicken salad. They have hot and iced coffee and both of them are very good. They never taste burned, it's freshly brewed. The location itself is small but well maintained. The staff is friendly and the food comes out quick! Their breakfast sandwiches are massive. This is my go to bagel spot that I go about once a week. These bagels are delicious and taste very similar to NYC style. I usually get the egg and cheese with an Asiago bagel. Right on the center of Dedham Square and conveniently opening everyday at 5:30A, this local bagel shop is serving the best and freshest bagels in town, and by fresh I mean literally baked fresh, daily. On this early saturday morning my husband and I arrived at 8A and thankfully only had to wait in a 10min (meaning: we got lucky) we ordered the bacon and egg plain cheese bagel and the ham and egg and cheese plain bagel. We gave them both a (5/5) . We also tried the iced coffee and the regular hot coffee but as Miamians and Hispanics we're giving that a (-0) I'M SORRY!! It was the worse coffee I've ever had. I really hope Bostonians have better coffee- that was horrible. The service was honestly fast and friendly for how full it was and we loved the mom and pop ambiance. Bagels are ok. Step up from super market quality but expected more. However the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich was not only the most expensive (almost $9 I believe) but had ZERO flavor. Staff of nice enough, but the bagels are of the lowest quality. I understand Mass doesn't have good bagels in general, but they are pricing these at handmade prices and they are just not worth the money nor are they good. The crumb texture of the bagels itself is just sad, I don't know what's off about their dough making/boiling/baking process but it's clearly something. Tighter crumb than Dunkin. There is not enough (if any) egg wash used on top of the bagels, because none of their toppings stick. Perhaps they just sprinkles a few seeds on top instead of dipping in seed. No bagel with topping has anywhere near enough flavor. Why would I ask for a garlic bagel with just five tiny garlic pieces on top? The bagels itself are lacking flavor. Maybe not enough time for the yeast to grow or not enough salt in the dough. The texture isn't chewy the way bagels should be, making me doubt their boiling process. The most egregious issue to me personally is that their everything sees mix is poppy, sesame, and oats. When I asked about this a staff member said they don't use garlic, onion, or salt because "they're so flavorful" yeah that is the freaking point..... I am a huge hater of oats on bagels in general but to see it in everything seed mix for no reason at all was just horrible. Go to Exodus if you want a good bagel. read more

Tried this place for the first time a couple weeks ago and keep going back. Great, tasty and soft bagels and love the breakfast bagels! My first was the sausage egg and cheese and the sausage was a link cut in half the long way which is rare! A slightly spicy/sweet sausage. Next time was a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant and it was perfect! Real stuff made on a real griddle! None of that Dunks crap! Haven't tried the coffee but I'm kind of a coffee snob so I'm a bit skeptical. Got some of their cream cheese to go and it's great to have at home. Great little breakfast spot within a 2-3 minute walk from the court house. Fresh made to order breakfast sandwiches and amazing bagels. The $6 price tag on the breakfast bagel sandwich gave me a little pause until I saw the product: massive bagel, large and delicious protein, looks like two eggs used, and all high quality. Pretty much a grab and go with ability to sit at some window counters if you like. They serve some good smelling coffee but I didn't purchase any. Café Fresh Bagel is a small chain of bagel shops throughout the greater Boston area (and one in western Massachusetts). I wouldn't call them the best bagels around, but they are pretty good for the rest of the competition in Dedham. I feel like over the years they have improved, but every once in a while I get a batch of bad bagels (I typically purchase a baker's dozen any time I go to a bagel shop... nice to have a bunch at home). One thing that is always great is the breakfast sandwiches which outdo Dunkin' Donuts any day. For the restaurant, the outside of this place is new (redone a few years ago), but inside is still sort of dirty, old, and not too welcoming (just spruce it up a little!). Everything seems sort of old an in desperate need of renovation. Even with the small size of the restaurant, space is used well and their are enough tables for the typical crowd (never seen this place too busy...). They do have one of the best locations in Dedham Square, and even without any parking lot, still attracts lots of business due to the high amount of people walking in the area (there is limited parking on both Washington and High Streets if you are looking). Either way, it's been in Dedham for a long time and stands as one of the only establishments of its type in the area. So in the end, three stars for the improvement in speed of service and quality of product in recent years, but missing the other two for the lack of modernity in furniture and setup and lack of consistency on rare occasions. In general it's worth a stop though and a place I typically like, so I'll bump it up to four stars.... especially since Bagelville is no longer around! 4 stars. read more

Cafe Fresh is a hometown staple. Sure it may be served with a free side of sighs and no less than the mandated three eye-rolls per order from the women working behind the counter, but it's part of the experience. The bagels may be hot and fresh, but I will never forget the time that I was giving my order to a woman behind the counter and she sighed in my face mid sentence. They really tear you down before you order so the bagels taste better and more comforting. It's definitely a marketing tactic ! I don't live in Dedham anymore, but I do dream about their egg bagels with veggie cream cheese. Whenever I'm back in town, I always make sure to stop in. Their hazelnut iced coffee kicks butt too if you're looking for some no-frills caffeine. 10/10 definitely worth the sass served ! read more

We love coming here for bagels! So many varieties to choose from and freshly baked. Convenient that they are open early (5:30am) and very quick service. I would actually give 5 stars if it weren't for the cream cheese! There's no actual "flavor" to the flavored cream cheese. My new coffee and a bagel place. #%$@ you, Panera!! Properly done bagels. Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside when toasted. Sesame being my favorite with poppy seed right behind. Cream cheeses are good, though the flavored ones are a bit skimpy on the veggies, chives and olives & pimentos. I like their coffee. First of all it's screaming hot, which I love. And it's a pretty mild blend, which I prefer in the morning. Service is fast and no nonsense. Good thing too, because there's always a line, but it moves right along. Parking is metered, and it's on a very difficult corner. Especially when there's two or three 'Town of Dedham' trucks parked in front of it. But those town hacks know a good place when they see it.
