THe homemade lemon cream cookies are great here and a reason to go there for alone ... all cookies there are great for that matter...had a Dubai chocolate chip one... but the lemon cookie has me addicted.. Tried Santoros for the first time. Although the Yelp reviews led me to have high expectations, I mostly found disappointment. It is a small place, quite messy, with a lot of activity (baking cookies, slicing meats) that had little to do with customer service. As I was the only customer there (at 1:25 in the afternoon) i was ignored (despite my attempts to converse) until I called out for a chicken parmigiana sandwich to go. The bread is fresh, but the sandwich merely had small pieces of breaded chicken--essentially just little bites, like one would cut for a toddler. Sauce was underwhelming and surprisingly (and disappointingly) sweet. I also purchased some premade penne with marinara for dinner. Again, the marinara was very dull...and sweet. The sandwich cost $14.75, and the penne was another $11.00. There were no pizza slices, no arancini. Rather disappointing and bare. In fact, the lemon cookie I bought, which was NOT mind blowing in any sense, was the single best thing I bought there. I know good Italian deli, and yes, I have been to Sicily on several occasions. Guise, we found it: The best Italian sandwiches in the state of MA. I was not expecting Santoros to change my life the way it did, but it did. I was just looking for a sandwich spot for lunch with ma', and their food roused my tastebuds from the stupor they've been in with other basic, bland sandwich shops. The bread is fresh baked and the ingredients taste like a loving grandma made them same-day. (If they do in fact employ a ghost grandma, I'm totally fine with that because their food is really out of this world.) The Tina and the Vinny Sr are our go-to's. We tried Santoros after seeing the reviews. This is a little neighborhood sub shop. It's small no place to eat a few tables outside with parking in the rear. The Italian sub was ok nothing special. The meatball sub was microwaved with 3 sliced meatballs. It's never good when you microwave the meatballs. Needless to say it may be good for the neighborhood but the subs are average and nothing to go out of the way for. Same for the cannoli. I sold the nice store clerk this is our first time here and she said every sub is good and we won't be disappointed. We'll after eating the subs we wished we went to Jersey mikes. read more

After working in the area on Monday not much was open deli was for a Lunch sandwich. This led me to santoros. Very unassuming and not on a main road parking can me tough. But I must say these kids knocked my Turkey with fresh mozz out of the park. Good bread and stuffed to the gills. I don't typically write Yelp reviews. In general they tend to be either overinflated or complete venom, neither of which are likely based totally on realities. Santoro's is a small, hole-in-the-wall Italian sandwich shop. If you're looking for a full-blown Italian restaurant, keep looking. First of all, this place feels Boston. In a good way. The sandwiches are served on fresh bread, but I don't know if it's made in house. The portions are generous, even for the price, which is significantly higher than most sub places. This isn't Subway. These aren't sad sandwiches put together by sad people who hate you, because they hate their job. The ingredients taste fresh. Tomatoes are red, not reddish. The greens are, well....green. The meat is obviously not old. It's fresh and lacking that nasty shimmer of prepackaged, old cold cuts. The staff is friendly, and the whole place has a local, family vibe.there is a single table where you can sit down and enjoy your meal. The place is definitely small though, and to-go is the way to go. The place can get a bit messy during busy times, but it's not dirty in any way I've ever seen. I cant's attest to the pizza, though I've heard good things about the potato pizza. The take home pasta is great for a couple, maybe a couple with a child. I haven't tried any of them I haven't liked. The Arancini are decent, but I definitely prefer them with ham. The meatballs are great. The desserts are usually very good. The cannoli are always delicious and they take care to package them away from your hot food to not melt the cream. The cookies are hit and miss for me. Sometimes they are way too dry and hard, and other times they are perfect. The flavor is always excellent. Finally, they reward loyal customers with a 10th sandwich for free (maybe 11th). I believe in the power of Yelp so completely that I'm certain Santoros had an off day when I went there. I called in a sandwich order and arrived a few minutes later to pick it up. The store was dimly lit and oddly arranged. The deli case was blocked by a haphazardly placed table with bags of dry pasta on it. There were people sitting and eating near the front window, and I wasn't sure if they were customers or employees. I picked up my sandwich after ten or fifteen confused seconds of standing around waiting for someone to come out and ask me what I wanted, and left. The sandwich itself was a profound disappointment. The bread was underbaked to the point of being practically raw dough, and it was sparsely filled with a couple pieces of mozzarella and two thin shavings of prosciutto, which didn't stand up to the handful of basil leaves thrown in. Order an Italian sub and a chicken parm sub. Both were TRASH! Hot peppers on the Italian were not even hot, the sub was very sweet, like wtf. The chicken parm sub was lack luster, and was semi warm. Working in close proximity, I lunch at Santoro's at least once a week. Each time greeted with a warm "Hi Honey!" from Tina, the owner, and that feeling of belonging. I love going places where people know me. When I call ahead to order, Billy shouts my order at me before I can even start, including those of my coworkers who usually tag along. My standard order of choice is a Paviel. A breaded chicken breast, stuffed with ham and cheese, with fresh parmesan shaved over the top. The freshly baked bread makes every sandwich ten times better than anywhere else. Some days I wish I could order desserts in advance just to have precisely the right finish to my lunch. Lemon cookies are almost always standing by, and while not my favorite flavor, are absolutely delicious. Just last week I had the pleasure of catching the very last individual molten chocolate cake.
