Reading through the rest of the reviews, I see that a lot of people are mentioning that they don't wear gloves. This was never a huge issue for me (not a germaphobe and lived in Europe for a bit) but see omg as how one of the reviewers saw the employee wipe his nose and handle food without gloves, I'm hoping they'll see it here, too. read more

Been going to Cafe Fresh Bagel for over 20 years. Excellent fresh bagels, tasty cream cheese, very friendly owner.

I don't stop here very often now that I work second shift, but for a while, I was her once or twice a week. Much better then the chains that dominate the area. I used to stop in when the first opened at 6. Bagels were usually still warm. Yummy soft and freshly made. I agree that the place really isn't that impressive looking and I was blindsided the first time I tried to pay with a card... Fendi(owner who often is behind counter) is extremely funny and makes you want to come back for more. If you say he's "creepy" you just gotta get to know him... idk what to tell you‍. Get to the bagel cafe early. They make a massive amount of bagels in many different flavors it they sell fast. I often get here later in the morning and have only a few choices left. The quality here is just want you want. Good coffee as well. Price is a little bit high ($7.50 for egg and cheese, $4 for bagel with cream cheese) but the quality matches and not unheard of for a small locally owned place. The man that owns this franchise is from Lebanon and he is a joy. He may be the best part of my morning bagel and coffee. He is charming, welcoming, and funny. read more

Ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel as well as an everything bagel with bacon & chive cream cheese. It cost me $17, which I paid with cash, not card, because there was a sign saying "cash payments will see a 3.94% discount from sales price." Not only was there not a discount (which is not a huge deal), but I asked the owner, "Wow, $17 seems a little high for those two items, right?" He responded: "Wait until you experience how much bacon is in that sandwich before you start to comment on price." I was shocked because I asked the question in a calm, genuine manner, and he snapped back at me and then walked away. The menu above the cash register did not reflect those prices for the items. He seemed to make up the prices out of thin air. The bagels themselves were not very good, the inside of the restaurant was pretty dirty, and I can't believe I just spent $17 on a bagel and a breakfast sandwich. Besides the fact that the guy behind the counter is gone, I find it appalling that an egg & cheese on a bagel and a medium coffee is $10. No meat, no home fries. The bagels here are the best in the area. Always fresh and have great cream cheese to go with them. As good as the food is, it is not the food that keeps me coming back. The customer service here is above and beyond what you would expect. If it was possible to give a rating of negative stars... My wife and I wanted to support the local bagel bakery and decided to stop in one day for some bagels and cream cheese. Bad idea. The place is filthy, to the point of dozens of dust bunnies (man, I hope that's what they were) mingling under booths and in corners. It looked like the place hadn't been swept EVER. The floor in general was stained and crumb covered and the bakery case windows were smudged, very possibly inside and out. The little pots of cheeses and other spreads seemed clumsily displayed with no rhyme or reason, but that was just annoying. Here's the deal. If you're selling something, please make sure the prices displayed are accurate. If you're advertising one price on your menu and another in front of the item, I'd like to assume one of them is correct and that someone made a sign placement mistake. It happens, no big whoop. However, while being rung up, we were being charged neither price, but actually something completely different. In fact, $2 more than the higher tag. PLUS we were informed that the container size we ordered was only offered in the smaller version. Um, hello? Then why display two sizes in the case and on the counter, as well as have both listed on the menu??? Needless to say, we left and went to Bruegger's in Shopper's World. Sometimes the consistency of a chain is a relief. I highly recommend that you never step foot in this establishment. Great place for a good coffee and a great bagel. The real treat here however is the breakfast sandwich. IT is goddamn amazing three eggs wrapped with cheese and bacon/sausage wrapped in it all on a delicious bagel. The decor is outdated and gross, but the food is ridiculously good. We started going here in college and immediately loved the place. Granted the decor is old and crazy looking, but they food and service more than makes up for it. First the bagels are delicious and fresh and they are perfectly good plain or with any type of cream cheese. But what really sets the cafe fresh apart is the breakfast sandwiches, either the egg cheese and bacon or sausage are simply delicious and amazing. He uses 3 full eggs and real cheese on each sandy with real Italian sausage or real bacon. So much better than the trash you get ad DD's or Honeydews. Yes, the man behind the counter seems creepy, but he is genuinely nice and cares about his customers. The coffee is also good for such a local small place I completely and totally recommend the fresh bagel to anyone read more

This place has great bagels in a wide variety of flavors. The cream cheese (we tried Hot Miami and Chive) is excellent. We were pleasantly surprised with the ham, cheese, and egg bagel sandwich, and a bagel with chive cream cheese and freshly cooked bacon on top. The owner/cashier had lots of personality, and made the atmosphere fun and upbeat. I'll agree that the place doesn't look like much from the outside, and could certainly be spruced up inside- but we didn't find it dirty like some said. The place is cash only, but there is an ATM inside the cafe. Price-wise it is comparable to other small bagel shops in the area. It's not cheap (more expensive than Bruegger's) but the bagels are worth it. We look forward to returning here many times! read more

I would normally give this place 5 stars, my wife and I have been going here for years and and she's been going there ever since she can remember. The owner is very nice and welcoming and almost always gives us a bag of bagels. I always get a sausage egg and cheese and typically it's delicious. This time not so much I ended up having to throw the bagel out as it was soaked in grease and had about 2 tbsp of grease in the bottom of the container. made another bagel as he had given us some as mentioned but the sandwich had no cheese, I ended up just throwing out the rest. I observed a worker pick bagels out of the bins with his bare hands. Then he proceeded to weigh lox for a customer by selecting pieces of lox with his bare hands and putting them on the scale. Then he proceeded to wipe his nose with his hand. Since this was done right in front of customers, I shudder to think what might happen behind the scenes.
