I've been here plenty of times and let me tell you they have great food, great atmosphere and GREAT magic!

Note that, there are two "Cafe Italias" in Grapevine. This review is for the one on Ira E. Woods/Highway 26 (the other is located closer to downtown Grapevine). Both have almost identical menus, which may mean they are somehow connected or are just copying each other. A lot of people love the Ira E. Wood location and that's fine. But after several visits, I've found some things that could be improved. First, the dining area is very crowded. By that, I mean they've put tables very close together. Yes, they're trying to maximize the space. But the result is the place gets very noisy. You can't even hear the background music, which makes it more like eating in a fast food place. The salads we had were drenched in dressing, making them less tasty. The menu itself is pretty basic Italian. And we noticed the entrees are delivered VERY quickly, often while you are still on your salad. That tells me that the wait staff isn't paying attention to their tables, or the kitchen is rushing out orders. Or - and I think this is what's really happening - the kitchen is setup more like a cafetiera line. Most of the pastas meats, and sauces are pre-made and are sitting in warming trays. All the kitchen is doing is doling out the plates like a cafeteria. Mind you, the food is generally ok, just not top shelf. And we found it also cools off fairly quickly, so it's probably sitting under heat lamps until you order it. The interior is way overdue for a refresh. It is kind of a kitschy Italian restaurant design - murals of the Coliseum, vines, etc. Cafe Italia, it's time to get in the 21st century and update your style. Lastly, the wait staff was sort of ok, but not particularly attentive. On our last visit, our server looked like he really wanted to be somewhere else. Sure, waiting tables is hard, but if you don't like it, don't do it. So while others give this Cafe Italia high marks, I see some cracks in the armor. 3 stars is generous. read more

Man, what a cute little Italian restaurant. Don't let the ugly strip center fool you. This place is a gem. I was a little worried when we stopped in on a Friday night without a reservation. Especially when the people in front of us had one. We were seated quickly tho and the only downfall was we were seated in a room that was loud due to being semi closed in. I had the tortellini Michael Angelo and my husband had the spaghetti and meatballs. They brought us bread immediately. Small salads shortly after. And a sample of bruschetta on the house. Everything had ample rich flavor and was proportionate servings for the price. I would def go again. read more

ABSOLUTE AMAZING!! The food was incredible. I ordered tortellini with vodka sauce, the tortellinis were soft and the sauce wasn't too heavy and had great flavor. Big portions at great prices! The menu has all the classic Italian dishes and more, plus 4-5 specials. Homemade tiramisu was out of this world. BYOB and they provide glasses and no corking fee. Nick the owner was our server and gave us an incredible experience. We are from out of town and chose this restaurant based on the rave reviews and we were not disappointed!! Trip advisor best Italian restaurant winner for many years and it's clear why. We will absolutely be back and we will tell everyone we know in the Dallas/Grapevine area to try Cafe Italia. read more

Called and ordered to-go at location on grapevine highway, highway 26. Double-checked location because there had been mix-ups before. Got there to pick up order and was told they didn't have any order from us. Went to grapevine location on northwest highway in grapevine and they were already closed. We don't care how good their food is and we will not order from either location ever again! Went to Joe's Pizza Pasta Subs and got great food without having to order ahead. They are the rudest people ever but, like my husband said, we probably saved at least $50! read more

First of all the food is always delicious and it's BYOB. Secondly, it was my daughter's birthday and our server was very kind and even the other servers and staff were nice. The food was good and plentiful. I had a shrimp pasta dish; the sauce was lightly creamy, not heavy or greasy, and there were plenty of shrimp. The salad greens were somewhat wilted. I was not a fan of the tomato-based dressing. While the service was prompt-ish, our server seemed pretty disinterested in our well-being. I don't think they checked in with us once after taking our order except to ask if we wanted anything else. There was a medium-sized party in the back of the restaurant so it was pretty loud and hectic. Overall, Cafe Italia was decent but nothing I'd go out of my way for in the future. read more

The owner is very rude. Food is good, wait staff is good, but the owner is We had a reservation a month in advanced for a special day. We arrived on time and noticed the room we reserved (semi private) was full of people just getting their food. When we brought up the concerns, the owner flat out said he DID NOT CARE! We were never once rude yet he became very disrespectful and borderline aggressive with his tone and words. We ended up sitting outside and the wait staff was nice, but again the owner is VERY RUDE! We will NOT do business with this company again due to the owner. read more

It's like an upscale Olive Garden. It's decent Italian but I've had better. I recommend making a reservation just because the place is on the smaller side. It's byob which is nice. The service is good. Friendly enough. I do not get the positive feedback about the food. It's is absolutely not good. The salad is gross. How do you make a salad gross? These folks found a way. Chicken piccata was edible but that's about it. Lasagna was something I can't even explain. Maybe manicotti covered in cheese and a ketchup like sauce. read more

Great food, great service. We ate here on our trip from Houston and had a fantastic time!

Been here the last two Mondays for lunch and it's hands down the most delicious Italian food in DFW. Have lived here 22 years and this is legit next level. Service is incredible, bread is ridiculously good and you feel like you're in Italy for an hour or so. (I've been 3 times so not just throwing that out there) Been to stuffed to try a desert but they look amazing at other people's table. This is five-plus stars all around. read more
