Just celebrated my second year anniversary. We are Italian and live not too far from the restaurant. On special occasions we want a nice larger menu with "hard to execute" Italian dishes. The bistro's in town are fun and casual but every once in a while you need something a little bit more gastronomically complex. They were very accommodating to my two littles. Our server was very busy but on point. They had a great wine bottle special. 50% off any bottle under $199. Salad was tasty and fresh. Had got Cacio E Pepe as a second dish before our entrées. Which I highly recommend doing. That's not an easy dish to do, but they executed it perfectly. Nice thick noodles similar to the Pici and Bigoli , you see in Tuscany. They also had a pretty sizable prime New York strip for under $70 which is pretty impressive. Most restaurants would've charged 85 or more for that steak. It was cooked perfectly. Char medium rare. Came to Calabrese for a group dinner celebration of 10. It was my first time here, and the restaurant is beautiful. My cocktail was rose-based and refreshing. We started off with bruschetta and focaccia, which I didn't care for, but the complimentary bread and herb butter were so good. Calabrese remains one of our favorites. We love the bar due to the amazing staf there and come here for both lunch and dinner. The Minestrone soup is a meal by itself and when paired with the bruschetta makes a perfect dinner. We also love the pizzas and pastas which are all great for sharing. Calabrese is a wonderful option for a large party or small event! My friend's hosted a going away party for me here and we had such an amazing time! We utilized the private dining room, which was the perfect amount of space for around 10 people. The staff were so friendly and very attentive throughout the evening! For Apps, we got the focaccia and the bruschetta. Both were decent, but nothing mind-blowing! For mains, my friend and I split the Le Calabresi Impossibili and the Porcini Ravioli Burrata special. Both were absolutely delicious and I'd eat them again in a heartbeat! Our waiter was very kind to cut slices of the cake that my friends ordered for the party. Came here for Valentine's day with a reservation and still waited about 30 minutes before we were seated. Pretty disappointing to me when these places overbook for busy nights. Ambiance inside is very nice, I like the second level and the different seating areas they have. The food was quite disappointing. I recall liking the meatballs (not pictured), but the risotto with braised beef was pretty unimpressive. It wasn't the most tender meat, and the risotto was also sort of grainy (all risotto may be like this, it's not something I've ordered much before). The bombolini (doughnut holes with nutella) were a fitting end to the experience - they tasted either burnt, cooked with old oil, or both. They were pretty much inedible. I didn't think a restaurant could mess up a doughnut hole and nutella, honestly. So, overall, I cannot personally recommend this place at ALL, especially on a busy night. read more

It had been too long since we've had a proper date night, so we finally decided to go all out for Valentines Day and ended up having a wonderful time. Before our reservation, we sat at the bar to take advantage of the HH menu. I ordered the calamari to snack on while I had a couple of cocktails. I will say the HH cocktails are just okay but really paled in comparison to the regular drinks. The Old Fashioned and French 75 were not great, but the Paper Plane was amazing. When we were seated at our table, we ended up ordering the Caraccio D'Antilope (app), Bucatini Allo Scoglio, Orecchiette Alla Calabrese and the Ossobuco. Was it a lot of food? Maybe. Don't judge us. We also ended it with Vanilla Bread Pudding. What did I just say about judging us? And although by the time the entrees came out, I was plenty tipsy and had already taken a crazy number of selfies in their bathroom using their amazing full-length mirror (seriously, I want that mirror), I was still able to focus on how good all of the food was. The seafood in the bucatini was simply amazing. The ossobuco was seriously fall-off-the-bone tender and paired perfectly with the gorgonzola polenta. And the orecchiette had the perfect amount of marinara and Italian sausage. Family-style is the best way to go here. And you know what, the leftovers the next day still tasted amazing. This is a wonderful dining experience. We made a reservation and were seated right away. Our waiter was incredible! He explained the name of the restaurant, educated us about their house made olive oil and Jalepeno pepper sauce. It was such a great engagement. Sure they had good ambiance, and good waitstaff, but the food as good as it was presented, felt a little kick was needed. Had the Osso Bucco but pork. It was good and tender, but I have had better I feel. And also a better choice of meat would have been veal. Otherwise, it's good. I think trying once may help. The staff work together as a genuine team to ensure a pleasant experience for each and every guest. Food: I'm pretty sure I left 20 pounds heavier. And worth every bite!! They have gluten free, vegetarian, and whatever other dietary restrictions you may have. I restricted nothing and ate everything. Lots of parking--but of course, I went with valet! The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful--inside, upstairs, and out on the patio. Large bar, great vibes, and our waitress was amazing (wish I remembered her name, but she made the whole experience even better!). Now the food? A dream. I had a red sauce pasta and ended up mixing it with some spinach Alfredo--chef's kiss! Every bite stayed hot and flavorful all the way through. Calabrese is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been for celebrations for my birthday and anniversary, as well as just a meal with friends. I recently had lunch for the first time, at Calabrese. The food was just as delicious as it is at night. There is a smaller menu, which makes it a little easier to decide, but there are still hard decisions to make. I had the Casereccie Pollo. It was the perfect lunch. We also got the bread service. Service, as it is at dinner, was excellent. Our table was checked on at the just the right times. The restaurant is always relaxing and the noise level is low. It is a beautiful restaurant. We did not have wine at lunch, but they have an extensive wine list with excellent wines to choose from. The bar is always a nice place to start, with a delicious cocktail. I am looking forward to a happy hour on the patio in the near future. read more

Came to their Valentines Day Prix Fixe menu with reservations. It took over half an hour after our reservation time to be sat which was very upsetting. The entrance of the restaurant was packed with many frustrated diners (and frustrated hosts) and they clearly heavily overbooked for the holiday. We got sat on the upper floor in their windowed area. Once we were sat service was very good and fast. We had the meatballs, calamari, lobster squid ink pasta, bombolinis, and hazelnut cake. Overall the meal was delicious and the portions were generous. I was especially impressed by the number of lobster tails in my pasta. Only major concern was that the bombolini tasted overcooked and savory, as if they were fried in old oil from their other menu items. Besides that we had a very nice dinner and the inside of the restaurant is very pretty and elevated. I would say this is a great date night option, just not for major holidays. read more

My husband and I ate a wonderful dinner here on New Year's Eve. Everything from the atmosphere to the friendly waitstaff really made the experience wonderful. We started our meal with some fresh bread and sparkling water. The bread was really crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and were not disappointed. The calamari was hot, crispy and flavorful. I've really been craving seafood so I ordered the Cioppino for my main entree. The shrimp were really the star of the dish. So succulent and flavorful. I really enjoyed the whole dish especially the broth and toasted bread. There was nothing left once I finished. To finish out our evening we ordered the almond pear cake to share. The cake was moist and had a strong almond flavor. The pear might be a little overshadowed by the almond flavor but I really enjoyed it and would happily order again. Thank you all for a wonderful date night to close out 2024. Unfortunately the meal I had was not perfect, the risotto was a little undercooked and had too strong of a corn taste to it. Came here for a going away party for our friends and I gotta tell you, this place is nice - great place for a date or a night out with friends. Service was excellent, one of our friends' steaks was just a tad overcooked to his liking but the waitress was sympathetic and offered a replacement - not a big deal, but pro tip - when you're ordering a steak from a "nice" restaurant, order it slightly more rare - like a rare+ instead of a medium rare because that's just the nature of the beast. Sophiya was an amazing server! Her recommendations were spot on and she was attentive without being overbearing. The Focaccia is a must-have appetizer: crisp crust without toughness, generous toppings, and such a balance of flavors. This plus a small salad would also be a delicious lunch. Zucchini Spaghetti was a gluten-free arrabbiata flavor explosion of veggies. Tomato Mozzarella would be better served room temperature and with a drizzle of balsamic reduction- maybe try in July with farm-fresh tomatoes. I went to Calabrese back in August of 2025 for my dad's birthday, and it was great. I figured that I would do the same for my birthday. It was a lot more crowded (reasonably so since it was the holidays), but the acoustics in the restaurant made it extremely difficult to hear our server over other voices -- it didn't help that she spoke too fast and seemed to be in a rush every time she asked us a question. She was also seemingly inexperienced; only able to do one task at a time, and it was almost impossible to flag her down when we wanted to order drinks and our main course. (For example, my partner wanted to order a Caesar salad appetizer at the same time as us ordering main dishes, and she said "I can put in his salad order and then come back".) We were there for hours only because we could order one thing at a time. We had to tell the manager on duty to ask if he could bring her over to order food because she was gone for maybe another half hour, and I was starving by that time. We saw other food runners and servers more than our own. The food was the only highlight of the night. We all had really incredible dishes. I ate the lobster tail and squid ink pasta dish, which was rich and filling. Afterwards I had a flourless chocolate cake for dessert along with a small tiramisu they gave me as a complimentary birthday dessert. If you want great Italian food then that's what I would go here for. Unfortunately, at the end of our dinner, our server was very interruptive by coming over 2-3 times while we were working out the check. Once to try and tell my mom the difference between a customer copy and a merchant copy receipt (as if we didn't know what those were), and then a second time to ask if she "did something wrong" in a frantic and urgent manner. I really hope we never have that server again (if we decide to come back). Oh, and when we were walking back out to the car... I discovered that I stepped in a giant pile of dog poop in the grass right next to the building. Who knows how long that was out there? Great conclusion to a birthday dinner, I suppose! Someone from the restaurant actually called my mother the following day to ask if everything went alright, and we very well know that they called because they knew the answer to that. Edit: One of the owners called my mother a few days later and was an absolute d**k to her. Normally when you call someone about the terrible experience they had at your business, you try to be professional. His excuse was that he was sick for a while and couldn't reach out sooner. This place was on my list for the longest time so last weekend quest for the ultimate pasta fix led me here. Kicked things off with the calamari fritti, and boy, was I impressed! The crispy calamari paired perfectly with a sauce that took the dish to a whole new level. Next on the lineup was the raviolo salmone, and it stole the spotlight with its perfect balance of flavors. The smoked salmon filling mingled flawlessly with the rich cheese, just perfect! Now, not every dish hit the mark. The tagliolini gamberi fell a bit short, with shrimp that lacked that wow factor I were hoping for. This was quite bland. But fear not, because salvation came in the form of the divine gnocchi gratinati. Each pillowy gnocchi was bathed in a velvety sauce, topped with savory mushrooms - a true masterpiece! I paired it with red wine but next time I would love to try the bar. The place is captivating with distinctive vehicle art installation. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Southlake's best Italian treasure. From the minute you walk in until the last bite this place is incredible. I was looking for a fancy brunch spot for my lovely mother's birthday and she has always wanted to stop here. This was my second visit and i am going to make us regulars. Izzy was our server and my new best friend. He was patient and answered all our questions. He explained the carajillo so well mom and I had to try it. So I ordered my picky eater what I thought was a cheese pizza but I didn't read the full description. It looked so good I had him box that bad boy up and took that one home too. It was the QUATTRO FORMAGGI four cheeses, roasted tomatoes, italian sausage, pine nuts. It was fabulous. I am glad I messed up my order and they whipped up a plain cheese pizza for my picky eater. Jason went for lasagna, mom tried the brunch quiche, and I had SCALOPPINE ALLA PARMIGGIANA veal scaloppini lightly breaded, tomato sauce, fettuccine creamed truffle sauce. I want to see if I could get gnocchi made with that truffle sauce it is life changing. It was huge too so I had dinner and lunch the next day. They had a card for my mom and made her favorite dessert Tiramisu. I cannot wait to go back and try something new. We received a gift card from our daughter otherwise we tend to forget about this semi-secluded location. We decided to do brunch and we're so glad we did. They have a small brunch menu that is in addition to the lunch menu. Brunch cocktails are $5 for mimosas & $6 for Bloody Mary and Carajillo (see pic- Spanish version of an Irish Coffee"). We decided to sit in the temp controlled patio, which was great. Really cool bar area and general vibe of the whole place. They start off with serving complementary bread, olives, garlic butter, and Calabrian chili paste for your bread. Delicious! We then had the focaccia with Calabrian chilies as an appetizer. It comes out like a flatbread pizza. The bread was amazing - - thin, but soft and chewy. We shared the ORECCHIETTE ALLA CALABRESE (copied spelling from menu) and ended up taking home left overs of focaccia and the pasta. Don't hesitate to share. Thanks to our server Jeremy, our first visit here was incredible. It is plenty that the ambiance is classy and romantic, and the food ended up being fantastic, but Jeremy's customer service skills took the whole night up a notch. We started at the bar where we weren't told until after we received our drink order that - oh, it's all day Happy Hour. That wine menu had been slapped down in front of us well before the HH menu. Slightly disappointed in that move. Jeremy turned it around. He pointed us towards our delicious selections to include mussels and a couple of pasta dishes.
