Walking around Gastown, my partner and I were looking for a little cafe to visit while there. We stumbled upon Cafe Kitsune, a part of Maison Kitsune, but with its own connected storefront. We ordered the hot dark chocolate matcha drink and it was so good. It balanced the line between a matcha latte and a hot chocolate super well and it was the perfect warming drink on a cold chilly day.
This is a famous cafe and the quality of their food and drinks are very good. The only downside is the price point but for an occasional nice treat it does the job. They also have merch for purchase but that also does ring up quite costly. It's very clean and aesthetic inside.
Every time I visit Vancouver I always stop by this cozy cafe. Their coffee is what I keep coming back for. I've tried their matcha biscoff and it was tasty. It wasn't too sweet either. The cafe is clean and their staff is friendly!

I visited Cafe Kitsune in Gastown to get a drink. I have been to the one in Paris and finally had a chance to visit the one in Vancouver. I got Matcha crumble latte which sprinkled biscoff cookie on the top of Matcha latte. Drink itself was good, matcha flavor was decent and milk texture was very creamy, I really liked it. However, biscoff part was subtle. Next time, I will try different item. Their baking goods
Always great service and super clean aesthetic. Love that it's a no laptop spot so it's really about catching up with whoever you're there with and deters lingering from laptop people. Always gotta get one of those little round brioche things, there's yuzu, matcha, and strawberry but I was in an ultra matcha mood. Love the matcha as it's unsweetened.
right in the thick of gastown, on 157 water street, this french-japanese café (franchise) sits on cobblestone streets dotted with lamplighters, charming flower baskets, tourists jostling for a steam clock selfie, and waiting for the steam clock to chime. inside, it's all sleek minimalism, a bold red banquette, it's laptop and tablet free, and a retail space next door selling branded merch. i went for the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk. the strawberry sauce came from a bottle, it was thick, difficult to dissolve and my poor paper straw was one swirl away from disintegrating. unfortunately, the matcha was premade and poured in, no graceful hand whisking with a chasen ceremony here. it looked pretty, and tasted fine. still, if you're hanging out in gastown, and/or waiting for the steam clock to do its thing, this place makes a stylish pit stop.
I came here specifically for the hojicha roll cake while exploring the Gastown area. Months later, I am still thinking about how delicious this cake is! The cake is fluffy and soft, and the hojicha jelly in the middle was such a nice surprise. I'm usually not a fan of cream but their cream filling was light and not too sweet. The entire thing was pure perfection!
I love this place. It was so good that we came back the next day during our Vancouver trip. The matcha crumble was sooo yummy. We got the mango yuzu cake, which was very light and refreshing. The inside is somewhat small. Bathrooms are very modern and clean.
We enjoyed a perfect cup of Flat White with a delicious Pistachio Croissant while visiting Gastown in Vancouver B.C. Minimalist vibe. The Flat White was perfectly prepared. Service was fast, friendly and efficient!
On rainy quiet Sunday morning. Cafe was empty. Service was prompt and quietly friendly. Ham and cheese scroll was delicious and crunchy and heavy on the butter. Yuzu and honey tea was satisfying for a rainy day. Clean and seating was comfortable. Only downside was washroom was out of service.
Y'all I am SHOOK. I walk in here and order a cheeky matcha latte with oat milk expecting it to cost 7$ MAX. Imagine my surprise when it came out to 9-10$. And it was SMALL. And didn't have much matcha in it. At this rate the millennials were right, I'll never be able to afford a house (bc I like buying silly little beverages). I will say the sweetness was perfect, the staff were nice and the bathrooms were impeccably clean and bopping some great tunes. But definitely not worth the price. At least they could've added more matcha. If I could relive my experience I would also ask for no ice because it further diluted a not very concentrated beverage.
The interior design of this place was so minimalist & comfortable. It wasn't a big cafe but it had a good amount of seatings for people to sit and talk or do some work. The service was quick and friendly. They helped recommending what's popular on their menu so I ended up choosing the Yuzu Tart. The Yuzu tart was quite strong and I definitely tasted the yuzu in it. It was a little too gooey for how I like my tart but it still tasted really good. It was one of the recommended places to must go to in Gastown so I went. I definitely do think it's a nice place to drop by for a quick coffee or dessert after a long day

It's just trending. Café Kitsuné has been ALL over Vancouver Eats social media and after seeing all the rage over how amazing their matcha is I had to go in and give it a try when passing through Gastown. I must say, price wise, compared to other matchas and cafes in then YVR area, it's pretty average. (7-8 dollars per matcha) Now taste wise, the matcha was extremely underwhelming and lacked actual matcha flavour. I had observed that while making the matcha, they used a SQUIRT bottle. A SQUIRT BOTTLE. To squirt matcha into whatever filler base you chose (lemonade, milk, etc.) I don't know what matcha everyone else has been drinking but me personally, it's never came through a squirt bottle. Now, I will cut them some slack being as it was peak tourist hours during the day and there were many customers in the store and making 30 matchas at a time from scratch can be hard but as a trending café and matcha/coffee shop, the whole purpose of the restaurant is for them to create their products properly. I don't know, that really put me off. The taste was alright as previously mentioned and the milk to matcha ratio was sickening as every sip was pure milk. Sweetner is definitely not necessary as you won't be able to taste it through all the milk anyway but give it a shot if that's what's up your alley! Through all this discredit and negativity, there is light. The service at Café Kitsuné was great and the server was extremely friendly and welcoming. The ambiance was just okay, the lack of that café feeling was off putting but regardless I'm not there for the vibes solely for the taste and presentation of the matcha itself. The overall experience was nothing special and there are definitely other places that are much more deserving of your money and business. I don't think I'd visit again with hopes of drinking an exceptional matcha but it does its job for those who are planning on spending hours shopping nearby in Gastown. read more

Ambiance is very casual, friendly, but not dingy like Starbucks. Food they have some creative lattes center around matcha. Not too strong matcha flavors for those who think matcha can get too grassy. Service is the best. Honestly I thought it was as good as when i was in japan. read more

Stopped by a cute cafe for a quick bite since I am rarely in downtown! The cafe is connected to the store next door, so you can shop and eat and shop and eat some more. The matcha brioche and pistachio croissant were both delicious. I especially love the flakey croissant bits and the matcha filling. The matcha latte was great since the weather was quite cold. It was so comforting to sit and sip and just enjoy. I wanted to get the yuzu brioche but unfortunately they were out already around 1pm. Will have to go earlier next time to get it! read more

We stumbled upon this place because we were looking for a restroom and one of the employees coaxed us inside with amazing menu item combos and bathrooms for customers. It was such a great decision because this place is super cute, clean, artsy/trendy, and has delicious drinks and food! We got their hojicha (roasted tea flavored cake) and matcha with white chocolate latte. So refreshing and delicious! And the atmosphere inside is so welcoming and feels clean and homey. Definitely will come back here the next time in gas town! read more

I ordered a matcha latte with almond milk. It seemed there was only one size. It was quite big for me. It cost $8.40 before tips. I'm not a matcha expert but it tasted great! I could taste a real matcha flavour. The ambience is pretty nice and cozy, and I liked their laptop and tablet free policy. Not too noisy so it is a good place to hang out and chat with friends. read more
I came across this cafe when walking through gastown and decided to try their strawberry matcha latte and matcha latte! I got my matcha latte sweetened and it was pretty good! It's a smaller cafe with limited seating but the drinks came out fast. The matcha was pretty good but definitely on the more expensive side and the cup size wasn't that big. read more
One of my friends has been raving about this place so I decided to check them out while in BC. We don't have this cafe in Seattle so luckily, Vancouver isn't that far! I got a hazelnut oat latte. It's not too strong nor too sweet. The interior is simple yet cozy and aesthetically pleasing. Their souvenirs are pretty pricey though so I opted out of getting one! read more

Not sure why people say that this place serves good matcha in Vancouver. Not strong enough flavor, tastes like milk. Cappuccino was sour. Pain au Chocolat was not fresh - tasted like the ones from Costco. It is a cute cafe, given it's next to Maison Kitsune. However, I would not come back given the food is just sub par and also expensive ($10 for the matcha latte). read more

I have been knowing this coffee shop in gastown but I never had a chance to visit until this weekend. The size of the coffee shop is decent. Interior design and decors are very nice and on brand. Customer service was good when I was there. The barista explained to me what those pastries were as I told her I was my first time here. My husband and I ordered the food and beverage and took two seats at the bar table with high stools. It was pretty good experience seeing all these customers coming into the coffee shop, ordering, and etc. It was nice to see how the barista made latte with different patterns or designs. Pretty fascinating! The latte was very smooth and thick. The pastries were okay but wouldn't say excellent. It was a good experience to see a global coffee shop expanded in Vancouver. I would recommend this coffee shop to others if they visit Gastown read more
The environment is very cute, the staff was well informed and personable. The flavours of the choux were fantastic, but it was soggy. Therefore the texture was a huge letdown! The craquelin on the choux was wet, which probably means the pastry sat all day in display. My most favourite pastry places would rather not sell day old product; or would sell (advertised as such) at a discounted rate to reduce food waste. My friend ordered the burrata sandwich and it was pretty good, but we wouldn't order it again. It needed tomato or fig jam to balance out the flavours. The warm olives (with edamame) however were absolutely delicious. Definitely willing to try this little shop again, as the staff were really great and the location is very convenient. read more

Cute cafe with a really nice bathroom! This cafe is connected to their store next door, easy to go back and forth if you want to shop around. Pretty average coffee if you're looking to grab a quick drink/bite. Seating is somewhat limited and they also encourage it to be a no-laptop/working setting. The staff were so friendly, I came back about 5 min after closing because I forgot my umbrella and they were so kind and quick to help me get it back! read more

Finally had the chance to go to Gastown to try this super hyped and aesthetic cafe! I always liked the branding (Maison Kitsune) behind the cafe and was super excited to try it. We went around 4-5pm on a weekend and luckily we were able to get a table with no wait. About 10 minutes after us, the whole cafe was full with a long line up so I would assume that there is a constant flow of customers, even for take out. We decided to dine in and get a table - noting that tables are reserved for 1 hour stays only. We decided to get a matcha latte ($6.00) and a latte with caramel syrup ($5.50+1). The matcha was quite smooth and not lumpy, while the caramel syrup made the latte sweeter and with more depth. I wouldn't say it is anything extraordinary, but I think it's a great option if you're in the Gastown area for a quick drink. I didn't get a chance to try their food items though, so I will be sure to update my review when I do. Also, unfortunately, their clothes shop side closes earlier than the cafe so if you would like to shop for Maison Kitsune clothing, I would recommend heading down a little earlier to have time for browsing. However, there were cups and a smaller selection of hoodies/t-shirts available for purchase on the cafe side as well. read more
A very aesthetic new French-Japanese cafe opened in Gastown alongside their shop: Maison Kitsune. It has the best of French and Japanese vibes! We came here on a snowy Saturday around 11 and the place was pretty busy. There aren't many tables inside and they've only soft opened so they seem to be figuring out many things still. They didn't have a waitlist system but after voicing some concerns, they were super accommodating and let us leave our phone number with them for when a table opens up. We browsed the shop for a bit while waiting. When a table did open up, the staff were super nice and friendly. They got us seated right away and gave us a menu. We ordered from our table as well. It was a really good experience. The food itself was presented very nicely and delicious as well. Everything was great! read more
Was in the area so decided...why not try this much hyped coffee shop/clothing shop. Lol Honestly, i dont see what the hype is all about. We ordered the cruffin ( ate it before picts) , Coffee, and parisian sandwich. Yes, its very good. But similar Nemesis coffee. Flaky and tender with cream filling. The star of the bunch. The cinnamon roll was huge, but looked dry and been sitting there too Long so passed. Lol. The coffee was strong and robust. Just the way i like it. Nice big cup to make my afternoon. The parisian sandwich was average. The bread was great but filling was ordinary. Didnt even use prosciutto, but used cheap processed ham instead. Not much for seasoning except mustard and a few pickles. Very dry and bland. Again, i know they have branches around the world...but in terms of variety and quality, much can be improved. Maybe next time, If they have more offerings like what they advertise In IG, I wouldnt mind trying em out again. Cheers! Happy eating! read more

Let me just start by saying it's so difficult to find good matcha!!! Kitsune tasted legit, and you know it's legit when there's no artificial sweeteners in the matcha AND when you see the baristas whisking it up in a ceramic bowl. During my trip in Canada, my family and I came here every single morning for a matcha latte. The cafe is so cute and very conveniently located in Gas Town. read more
Wouldn't go necessarily out of my way for this cafe. Really cute new spot that just opened up not long ago. Although it was the weekend, there was no urgency or rush instilled to move through parties/groups quickly even though it was a Saturday. Persian and Japanese vibes, directly connected to their "Maison Kitsune" store. I found the service at their clothing store maybe too attentive and bothersome for a party who wanted to just browse. Service could be a bit more attentive as my party of 2 wanted a table but wasn't sure if we had to pay upfront before or after we finished our meal. However, it was very sweet of them to warm up our croissants when asked. Croissant: 3.5/5: The croissants were extremely flakey and buttery however felt like there was tunnelling Flat white: 3/5: The flat white wasn't spectacular, I would opt for other options in the neighbourhood read more
Trendy, stylish little cafe in a convenient spot - very visually appealing food and drinks, and the decor is such that you could very easily mistake it for some modern fashion clothing shop. Seems like they put latte art on pretty much every drink, even if it comes with a lid, so keep in mind that's part of what you're paying for!! Depending on how much you value ambiance and the general "instagrammableness" of your cafe experience this place may be for you or it may feel like a little overly showy. That said, the drink I tried was pretty decent - I'd come back to try another couple things if I was in the neighborhood again. read more

I adore this sweet cafe. It was perfectly located off a street with heavy foot traffic. The service was so friendly, and gave me the most delightful recommendation. I had a specialty matcha latte. Do dreams and delicious! read more

One of the cutest Cafe Kitsune locations I've ever been to! I've been to the one in Seoul, New York, and Paris so far and while this one isn't the biggest, it doubles as a wine and cocktail bar! I am really intrigued and would want to try their alcohol selection next time. I went for a classic hot matcha latte since it was cold and raining outside. I love how huge the latte is but I want my matcha sweeter! I remember it being sweeter in Paris but if you're a purist, you're definitely going to like it. read more
