Apparently known for their stuffed steak, we bypassed that and tried the buffet. It was pretty good but a little pricey at $19. The catfish was good and very fresh tasting. Breaded shrimp good but a little salty. The ribs were hit & miss. Good flavor but many were too fatty. The chicken was disappointing - gray appearance from the smoke I guess, and not hot enough even though we ate right when the buffet opened. Also on the buffet: peel and eat shrimp, gumbo, pasta, various overcooked veggies and hushpuppies. The salad bar was good but nothing special. The peach cobbler was tasty. We came in tonight to grab a burger instead of ordering it to go from here. Once seated we waited 25 minutes with our menus before deciding to leave since my blood sugar was falling. Nobody acknowledged nor took our drink order. Nobody even knew we were there. It was pretty bad. The restaurant area was not busy. Several waitresses passed us without so much as a hi or I will be right with you. This happened the last time I came in here. We are polite and well mannered so we don't bother them. We just would like to be treated well and taken care of. This place does not do that for us. Great location. It's a shame the restaurant sucks. 10 years ago it was a good place to eat. There must be different management these days because it's not anywhere near the same. We came with some friends. My husband ordered an old fashioned. I had read a review that said they had trained their bar staff. Maybe the trained person wasn't working. I'm not sure what the drink was but it wasn't an old fashion. Salad bar was not any different than a cafeteria. Bacon bits not real. Iceberg lettuce. The special sauce was good. Had the walleye and it was cooked properly. Blackened and yet had no flavor. Rice was Luke warm. Clearly not fresh. My husbands meal American out incorrect. Came here with high expectations due to its great location on the river. The first thing to surprise us was that you had to buy a $10 membership if you wanted wine with dinner. We opted to sit outside so we could hear the river but never heard it because the band playing on the patio was ridiculously loud and never took a break. We couldn't even hear ourselves talk! So if you want conversation don't go on the patio when a band is playing. The food was average-- felt like almost too much on the menu to do it all well. My chicken was good but the baked potato luke warm. The other 5 members of the party had similar feedback on steak and burgers...some good, some not. We stop by Cafe Klaser almost every time we go up to The Little Red for a weekend of trout fishing, and have found it to be consistently good. The portions here are huge, and everything we have ordered has been immensely satisfying. The fried catfish is lightly battered and super flaky , the crawfish po boy is slightly tangy and served on a large soft homemade roll, and if you feel like going all out, the stuffed steak is definitely worth a try. I haven't tried a burger yet (I'm usually too distracted by all the seafood!) but they look amazing. Here's the thing about Cafe Klaser. You can get the same fried food here you can get everywhere else in Heber. What's different about Cafe Klaser is that you can get other things too, like delicious broiled Walleye. We don't eat red meat and therefore are not drawn to the stuffed steak, but Cafe Klaser has plenty of healthy seafood poultry options too. I would have to agree with other posters that some servers in the past have been problematic, but those servers are gone now. I'd also agree that the restaurant was not run as well during the Klaser divorce, but it is back on the upswing. Finally, Cafe Klaser has the closest you can get in Heber these days to an adult dinner. Expected a good lunch buffet today(Sunday), but was very disappointed. All food was barely warm, at best. The waitress said brisket was on the buffet, however, it was chunked pork butt, instead. The overall experience was not a good one and I will have to find another restaurant that will provide good, hot food. I've been here three times now, and I hate to only give four stars, but I feel it's necessary. The food here is remarkable, quite possibly the best in town. Delicious starters like stuffed mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, and onion blossoms are always a great choice here. They have a great salad bar, with fresh spinach (which had me sold), and the cajun platter is exquisite. The steak for two is an excellent choice for an affordable dinner date. They have exemplary service, hands-down the best part of my dining experience. Now for the only negative aspect, the prices. I understand they have to make a profit, and I understand that service this great comes at a price, however, I feel that their prices prevent my frequent custom. A touch of class & fine dining in the least expected place! Most importantly - the food is excellent. I have traveled all over & this place competes with the best. I had the shrimp scampi, the rest of my party had steak & salmon. Fresh & unique recipes on some classic dishes. Don't let the salad bar fool you, this is a very nice place - but it is in Arkansas (so salad bars are a must)! Full bar & dessert were a bonus. Our service was also great, but the only reason I vote 4/5 stars is because the hostess was awful. (I will assume a spoiled relative of the owner who obviously thinks she's above being a hostess). To start this off, the hostess was rude and acted as though it was beneath her to attempt to accommodate us. My wife ordered the salmon and said it was very good. My friend and I both ordered the ribeye, both medium rare. What we received was two cryo-vac steaks, you know the kind they sale out of the back of a pick-up. And both were well done. So the wife and I tried Cafe Klaser on the advice of family members who've been there before. Though my Blackened Catfish was superb and the Shrimp Cocktail appetizer was good, everything else was disappointingly underwhelming. The wife's Basil Tomato Pasta was ultra bland, the salad bar was minimal, and the upcharged "loaded" baked potato was tiny. Though the food was acceptable, the service was appalling. First, though the menu said we could get the salad bar with our entrees, we were never given the green light to partake until I had to ask permission to as one server was breaking it down (2 hours before closing time). Second, our waitress pointedly avoided us after taking our order. In fact, I was able to type this review by phone while waiting over 20 minutes for her to return with the Wife's drink refill. I could possibly give an extra half star just for the quality of this fish, but the service was abysmal. Addendum: we waited an extra 20 minutes for our waitress to close out our check. We ate at this restaurant the last day of our Spring Break vacation. The owners of the river house we rented recommended it and they were big fans so we decided to give it a try. It's a neat little place right on the river where you can sit outside. They also have a set of stairs that you can walk down to see the river as well. My husband ordered the stuffed steak which was recommended and it was definitely interesting. It's stuffed with rice and a crawfish sauce that was really good. It's something you really don't find anywhere else. My son ordered the ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Cajun crawfish penne pasta. The sauce was really creamy and had crawfish tails in it and the past was cooked perfectly. The only drawback I would say is that there wasn't a whole lot of spice and the flavors were bland. I've had plenty of cajun food and the lack of spice and flavor here was a little disappointing but all in all it's a really neat little place right on the river. read more

My annual fishing trip to Heber Springs, which has for the last eight years include,d a visit to Cafe Klaser turned out to be very disappointing. The salad bar was very "bare bones" with Stale crackers and only one option for salad dressing. The ribeye was over cooked, looked greasy or oily, and had an odor that I could not handle. I left without eating it and was not even offered a discount on the bill. to bad, I have enjoyed the cafe before.... I will have to think long and hard before I return. read more

4/2/16. My wife and I went there for supper. The setting on the Little Red River was beautiful. We ate on the back deck, very nice. That was where the evening took a turn for the worse. We ordered steak, baked potatoes, salad. It was supposed to come with bread. It seemed pretty simple, looking forward to a delicious meal, good company and beautiful location. After a long wait with very little guest at the location we finally received our meal. The steak was cold, baked potato cold, salad just ok. We never saw our waitress again to fill our water glasses. We were half way through our meal when I thought we did not get our bread with our meal. I went and found our waitress and ask her if we got bread and she said that we did, she eventually got around to it. For the price In paid at least you can receive hot food. Please save your money and go elsewhere, I will never go here again. Extremely disappointed. Beautiful location, food and staff cannot keep up with the beauty of this facility.
